Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

One Piece, Vol. 29 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (265–275) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon continues the Skypiea Arc. Having had a specific goal for becoming god and with that goal now in sight, Eneru starts picking off the remaining combatants to complete his plans and ensure his prediction will be accurate. Those who remain are drawn into one big, final brawl.

Meanwhile, Nico Robin locates the city of gold, only to find that all the gold is gone. The pieces begin to fall into place, and it is discovered that Eneru plans to destroy everyone who resides in the sky, while escaping to the seas below on his ship made of gold. With the five surviving "contestants" unaware of this, they engage Eneru in battle to see who will be excluded from his prediction. With his mastery over thunder, Eneru reduces the playing field to the promised five, but then decides that none of them is worthy of escaping with him to the blue seas.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. It continues the Skypiea Arc where it is revealed, by Nico Robin, that the City of Gold have been looted by Eneru, who plans on killing everyone save five to serve as his crew as they escape from Skypiea and sail away on a ship made of gold. However, in the end, Eneru, decides that the last five survivors were not worthy of escape.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 29 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

First hald is dealing with the remaining fighters. Entertaining, especially Luffy dumbass stuck in the snakes belly too but nothing amazing. But then good old lightning boy shows up. The Kami himself. And he is a big old asshole. Great second half.

For me, One Piece is best Manga ever written. The story always touch my heart, it is a combination of faithful friendship, laughter, loyalty and action.
Some people might find this manga as silly and pointless (I’ve heard this before) but they never truly read the Manga and therefore judging it simply from the cover. I’ve been in that position too…and thank God I finally looked beyond the cover and found the greatest adventure any Mangaka ever written.

All this stuff about no one ever dying... I talked about it in the other review, but really, what was Oda supposed to do? With as fearsome an enemy as Ener, it's either not letting him show off his power, or irrevocably darken what's meant to be a fun pirate adventure. You just need to have people survive even when they by all measure should not.

There's a few infamous cases where he could allow someone to die, though.

But, yeah, Ener really takes the field now. Luffy is still out of commission, but at this point, it's hard to tell how even he could do anything against such a foe. Everyone's down in the dumps, even the reader.

That is, unless you've figured it out...

Let's say it once again : this isn't my favorite arc... it's just that after a tyrant who secretly took over an island we have a tyrant who took over for secret reasons. Yeah Ener is dangerous and all but I feel like this arc is a bit long? It has some nice character moments to redeem it but I can't wait to be done with it ^^

Skypia has an interesting setting with obscure characters but now finally we are getting to the "good part". Enel forcing every one to fulfill his challenges resulting in awesome spectacle between four different parties is a great fun! Robin doing archaeological stuff, uncovering ruins and Luffy being stuck in a giant snake. It is a great fun ride but what I lack in here is stakes. It doesn't feel that the stakes are high and for some reason I think it is the way the antagonists are goofy and little incompetent.

A real shocker. Electrifying, one might say. Current-ly, I’d say this saga is my favorite. It amps up the action and world-building ten fold. Watt a great read!

3.5 🌟

I enjoyed this volume much more than the last one, although Skypedia is not my favorite so far… mostly to do with the continuation of the heavy themes of political/territorial injustices. Maybe it’s too much to ask for a reprieve of that topic… 😅

Robin delivered one of the coldest lines yet- “It’s time you felt the burden of the history you destroyed.”
Oh Robin, the woman you are~!

Kami Eneru’s ultimate plan to essentially nuke everything is… (something)

For all the buildup of how invincible he is, I’m expecting an incredible showdown for the next volume.

Lots of fighting that was hard for me to tell what exactly was happening. Luffy was in a snake the whole time, which gave the enemy time to defeat pretty much everyone else. I liked Robin's investigating the ruins as a scientist rather than a gold hunter.

Content notes: violence, smoking

In my opinion Enel is probably the first final battle that really had good build-up, and the first big villain that really owns it.
