WOW! That was SO INCREDIBLY CHEESY, it should win a cheese award! But a GOOD cheese award (cheddar/mozzarella/swiss/provolone)... as opposed to a BAD cheese award (Kraft Singles/American/Velveeta).
This book was FUNNY and CUTE and SILLY and UTTERLY-RIDONKULOUS in ALL the right ways! I LOVED IT! It got a BIT frustrating at times, when Carmen was being dense... (How did she NOT know who Striker and Fiera and Hermit and Malefica were??? But I didn't know who Mr. Sage was, either... (I kept forgetting about him...)) but it was part of the extreme-cheesola-ness that was Karma Girl.
All right... This is stolen from my friend Candace's review: The story is about Carmen Cole, a young reporter, who on the day of her wedding, discovers her fiance in bed with her best friend (who are also the Machinator — a superhero and Crusher - a villain, respectively). Furious, Carmen 'unmasks' them to the public. She then, as your typical woman scorned, goes on to unmask several others until finally, one unmasking leads to the superhero committing suicide. Distraught by what she has caused Carmen hangs up her unmasking pen and paper and goes to work writing "society" news for the paper. That is, until Malefica (the leader of the Terrible Triad) abducts her and gives her one month to unmask Striker, the leader of the Fearless Five.
I'm giving this book 5 unbelievably hilarious stars for being so ridiculously entertaining. I WILL be reading the other two books in the series!

Ich liebe Superhelden und bin absolut süchtig nach Marvel und DC-Filmen und Serien. Deswegen stand für mich relativ schnell fest, dass ich den Auftakt der "Bigtime"-Reihe unbedingt lesen muss.
Zum Glück wurde ich nicht enttäuscht.
Die Geschichte war natürlich sehr klischeebeladen und vorhersehbar, aber es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht das Buch zu lesen.
Carmen Cole mochte ich sehr gerne als Protagonistin, auch wenn ich ihre Handlungen nicht immer nachvollziehen konnte.
Striker war selbstverständlich ein toller toller Charakter. Typisch Superheld ;)
Der Schreibstil von Jennifer Estep war wieder großartig. Das Buch ließ sich sehr schnell lesen und man konnte kaum aufhören weiterzulesen.
Ich freue mich sehr auf den zweiten Band von der Reihe! :)

Vorneweg:
Ich liebe Superhelden! Ich habe so ziemlich alle Marvel und DC Filme und Serien gesehen!
Deswegen habe ich mich natürlich sehr auf dieses Buch gefreut, denn es gibt nicht sehr viele gute Bücher mit Superhelden und Jennifer Estep ist eine geniale Autorin :).
Meine Meinung:
Man wird sofort in die Handlung hineingeworfen und die Geschichte hat mich sofort gepackt. Eigentlich hatte ich gar nicht so viel Zeit, aber trotzdem habe ich das Buch innerhalb von zwei Tagen beendet.
Die Geschichte von "Karma Girl" ist natürlich sehr klischeehaft, aber das ist bei Superheldenfilmen ja auch häufig der Fall ;).
Carmen Cole war mir meistens sehr sympathisch. Sie ist eine starke Protagonstin, die selbst in schwierigen Situationen nicht gleich aufgibt, sondern versucht das beste daraus zu machen. Manchmal war sie allerdings auch ein bisschen nervig, aber diese Szenen waren zum Glück schnell vorbei.
Wie sie es schafft, die ganzen Identitäten der Superhelden und Schurken aufzudecken fand ich toll, aber teilweise auch ein bisschen überzogen. Andere Journalisten hätten das doch auch schaffen müssen, oder?
Striker hat mir wirklich gut gefallen :D. So ist das halt mit mir und den Superhelden ;).

Das Buch ist kein YA, sondern ist wie die "Elemental Assassin"-Reihe für Erwachsene geschrieben! Außerdem solltet ihr den Klappentext für Band 2 nicht lesen, wenn ihr Band 1 noch nicht gelesen habt, denn darin geht es um eine andere Superheldin, deren Identität erst im Laufe von Band 1 aufgedeckt wird.

Da Jennifer Estep für mich bereits seit einigen Jahren ein absolutes Muss ist, war ich schon wahnsinnig gespannt auf "Karma Girl", den Auftakt der "Bigtime"-Reihe. Hier habe ich mir eine spannende und actiongeladene Geschichte erhofft und wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Da "Karma Girl" bereits immer wieder in der "Black Blade"-Trilogie angesprochen wurde, habe ich immer gehofft, dass das Buch irgendwann ins Deutsche übersetzt wird und dies wurde es zum Glück auch. Jennifer Estep verwendet dabei ihren von mir so geliebten Schreibstil: Teilweise sehr sarkastisch, teilweise salopp, aber immer unterhaltsam und wahnsinnig angenehm, sodass ich nur so durch die Seiten geflogen bin.
Die Figuren haben mir nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten gut gefallen und ich konnte sie fast allesamt ins Herz schließen. Besonders mit Carmen hatte ich am Anfang meine Probleme, da ich sie nicht wirklich einschätzen konnte und ihre Probleme für mich nicht greifbar waren, sodass ich so manche Tat von ihr nicht nachvollziehen konnte. Je mehr ich jedoch über sie und ihre oftmals sarkastische Art erfahren habe, umso sehr habe ich sie ins Herz schließen können.
Die Geschichte ist dabei schnell erzählt: Auf der ganzen Welt gibt es Superhelden und Superschurken, die sich in diversen Städten bekämpfen. Als Carmen ausgerechnet an ihrem Hochzeitstag erkennen muss, dass ihr Verlobter nicht nur ein Superheld ist, sondern sie auch mit der Superschurkin, die auch gleichzeitig ihre beste Freundin ist, betrügt, hat sie es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, jeden Superhelden auf der Welt enttarnen zu wollen und enttarnt diese Schritt für Schritt in diversen Tageszeitungen, für die sie arbeitet.
Als sie nach Bigtime, der größten Stadt des Landes, kommt, möchte sie unbedingt die Fearless Five, eine Gruppe Superhelden enttarnen, was ihr bei einem Mitglied auch gelingt - jedoch mit ungeahnten Folgen, da ausgerechnet dieser Superheld kurz darauf verstirbt. Als Carmen dann auch noch von dem Schurken-Trio entführt wird, die sie dazu zwingen, die Fearless Five, ganz besonders Striker, zu enttarnen, findet Carmen keinen Spaß mehr an der Enttarnung, sondern fürchtet vielmehr um ihr Leben. Dass ihr ausgerechnet die Fearless Five aus der Misere helfen und sie beschützen wollen, ist für Carmen alles andere als leicht, zumal sie Striker nicht nur enttarnen soll, sondern auch absolut hinreißend findet...
Obwohl ich nicht der allergrößte Fan von Superhelden bin, habe ich die Geschichte rund um die Fearless Five und Carmen wahnsinnig genossen. Sie ist nicht nur sehr spannend und actiongeladen, sondern bringt auch noch eine kleine Liebesgeschichte mit sich, die nicht nur gut geschrieben ist, sondern auch bestens ins Gesamtbild passt. Carmen beweist, dass sie weit mehr als nur eine Klatschreporterin ist, während die Fearless Five immer menschlicher wirken. Zwar fand ich es ein wenig schade, wie einfach die Superhelden und Superschurken fast alle zu enttarnen waren, allerdings kann ich über diese Vorhersehbarkeit gut hinwegschauen.
Das Cover ist nicht nur wunderschön anzusehen und comichhaft, sondern passt auch hervorragend zur Geschichte. Die Kurzbeschreibung konnte mich ebenfalls direkt ansprechen, sodass ich "Karma Girl" nur zu gern eine Chance gegeben habe.

Grab your graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows because you are going to want to make some s'mores while reading this lovable campy paranormal romance!
After falling in love with Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series back in 2012 I grabbed books 1-3 in her Bigtime series when I ran across them at my local used bookstore. They've sat on my shelf waiting for me to get in the mood for a fun and light romance that involved superheroes. Well that mood hit me and here I am today talking about the 1st book, Karma Girl .
Now Estep has warned me that the Bigtime series is nothing like the Elemental Assassin series and that's true. But it's not a bad thing. The writing is still Estep (which is great) and there are fun characters that Estep known for delivering but there's a touch more romance in Karma Girl . Yes, you get a few hot (detailed) smexy scenes. But hey, it's a romance so that's allowed.
Our heroine, Carmen Cole came to Bigtime (which I picture as a fictional New York) after she got her heart broke on her wedding day. She's been going from town to town and newspaper to newspaper uncovering superheroes and ubervillains in the name of revenge. See her fiancé was a superhero and he cheated on her and kept his cape wearing hobby a secret. But after one superhero ends his life after being exposed by Carmen she hung up her cape busting ways.
But Carmen gets sucked back in by one of the ubervillains of Bigtime, Malefica, the leader of The Terrible Triad. Malefica wants Carmen to unmask the members of the Fearless Five, the main group of superheroes in Bigtime or Carmen will meet an untimely demise.
I love how there are superheroes and villains all over the country. It's like a mash-up of Disney's The Incredibles and the DC line up on The CW (more like The Flash than the darker Arrow).
Carmen has a knack for puzzles and it really makes her good at unmasking the superheroes. They way her system works when she finds the real identity to the superhero it helps her uncover their villain counterpart. So Carmen decides to use her time figuring out who Striker, the leader of the Fearless Five is in order to find out who Malefica really is.
While Carmen is researching she gets to know Striker and she can't help be feel an attraction to him. And that attraction is returned by Striker. While fire is not one of Striker's powers, he still manages to turn up the heat with Carmen.
Karma Girl might be Estep's first published book but it reads like she wrote it yesterday. There are no first time pains showing here. If you are an Estep fan and looking for something on the fun side with superheroes and a lovable noise reporter, I think you'll have a grand adventure flying through the streets of Bigtime.
Wouldn't be an Estep book without a food quote:
“Well, what did you have for lunch?” I snapped. “Surely that’s not top-secret superhero information.”
“Steak with mashed potatoes and a side salad,” Striker replied. “And a piece of chocolate cheesecake for dessert.”
I gave up on conversation after that. I was too jealous of the cheesecake to continue.”

This was one of the worst-written books I've read in a while. Every other paragraph, the author has the narrator say things like, "my inner voice chattered" or "my inner voice screamed"; I haven't encountered such an annoying narrative tick since Tolkien's "And lo!"/"And behold!" addiction in Return of the King. Also, every time there's an "ethnic" character, they are repeatedly referred to in the text as "the black man" or "the Asian girl." I think I should apply that strategy to a novel about the Republican primaries. "The white man," "the other white man," "yet another white man"...
The plot is also incredibly predictable--Carmen Cole, plucky girl reporter, tries to unmask a series of superheroes and "ubervillains," only their identities are so painfully obvious, one begins to think that Carmen and her inner voice must have recently suffered a head injury. Add to that a bland romance, full of dueling tongues and other bad smutfic cliches, and you have a book I'm really baffled that I bothered to finish.
However, if I hadn't, I might have missed the best line in the thing. Says the supposedly supergenius ubervillain Frost: "Your lack of intellect is too small to calculate!" Ahahahaha. Wow.

This was superhero book, but with a fun tongue-in-cheek vibe. In other words, there was a bit of poking fun at the superhero genre, which I enjoyed. The main character is on a quest to expose the secret identities of superheroes - for reasons that are explained in the book details so I'm not going to repeat it here. Inevitably, she causes trouble and her life is threatened unless she uncovers the Fearless Five superhero identities for the villains the Terrible Triad. I enjoyed this book - the characters are fun and likable. There was a bit too much guilt-ridden angst in the main POV for me. The ending worked and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Hot Mama.

This author has obviously read her share of comic books, but didn't take them *too* seriously, as so many comic book fans do. In Karma Girl, she has taken a lighthearted poke at the comic book genre and incorporated the fun, funny parts of a comic book world into a fully realized romance story.
Carmen Cole, having been betrayed in the past by her fiance, who turned out to be a superhero (all unbeknownst to her), is on a mission to unmask them all. Why should they get to hide behind their secret identities? She builds a career around her ability to dig into the lives of the superheroes and ubervillains and expose them for who they really are.
Until tragedy strikes, all because she's done her job too well. Her career takes a dive, as well as her reputation, and she's keeping her head down as she tries to figure out what to do with her life.
Just about then, the Terrible Triad of ubervillains captures her and, with dire threats of horrible consequences, forces her to resume her crusade. Expose the secret identity of Striker, the foremost superhero of Bigtime or die a horrible death - or worse!
What's a girl to do? Well, I won't tell you. You have to read it to find out. Suffice it to say that this is a very entertaining read, filled with all the excitement and bizarre twists and turns of a good comic book, and the warmth of a building romance.
Will Carmen be turned into Yeti Girl by the Terrible Triad? Will Striker save her? Will she ever be able to find the zipper in Striker's leather suit?

This was on a table at my library because it is in the running for a reader's choice award. Gak! No, no, no! If this qualifies for any award, then the criteria for nomination needs to be seriously looked at.
Here's what I wish for: A funny book. A really funny book. That isn't stupid...isn't raunchy...isn't pathetically unimportant. Is that too much to ask? I can tell the author is trying to be witty and interesting. But the result is embarrassing.
Karma Girl follows a jilted woman who discovers her finance is really a superhero having an affair with his nemesis and her best friend. Hurt, she decides to "out" all of the local superheros. But, as superheroes surround her, she finds herself caught up in their world and falling for another masked man.
Obviously, this is a parody or satire of the comic book world, and the author spends ample amount of time and space describing spandex and bad monologues. But it's all too juvenile to be entertaining. I've seen The Incredibles and it's 1000 times more funny.
If anyone knows some really great comedic literature that won't leave me feeling stupider at the end, please let me know. I hope I'm providing a likewise favor by suggesting you avoid wasting time with this book.

An ihrem Hochzeitstag erwischt Carmen ihre beste Freundin mit ihrem Verlobten im Bett. Als sei das noch nicht genug erfährt sie auch noch, dass es sich bei den beiden um den Superhelden der Stadt und seine berüchtigte Erzschurkin handelt. Carmen Cole schwört Rache und macht es sich fortan zur Aufgabe die Identität aller Superhelden und Erzschurken zu enttarnen. Leider gerät sie dabei an den Falschen, denn der Anführer der Fearless Five gerät ihr nicht nur sehr schnell auf die Schliche, sondern ist zudem auch noch unglaublich attraktiv.
Normalerweise sind Superhelden überhaupt nicht mein Ding. Anders als viele andere, breche ich bei Superman, Thor und Wonder Woman nicht in Begeisterungsstürme aus. Trotzdem wollte ich, vor allem wegen der positiven Bewertungen im deutschen Sprachraum, Jennifer Estep und ihrem Karma Girl eine Chance geben. Den eingängigen, lockerleichten Schreibstil der Autorin kannte ich bereits aus ihrer Mythos-Academy-Serie. Auch hier habe ich sofort in die Handlung reingefunden und kaum bemerkt, wie die Seiten verflogen. Was mich dagegen total überraschte war der Humor. In Karma Girl präsentierte die Autorin eine ganz neue, ungewohnt spritzige Seite, die mich absolut überzeugen konnte und für mich genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt kam. Vielleicht ist das auch ein Grund dafür, dass ich dem Buch, trotz absolut vorhersehbarer Handlung und klischeebeladener Charaktere nicht weniger als 4 Sterne geben möchte. Nichts an dieser Geschichte war besonders einfallsreich, neu oder einzigartig. Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich mich lange nicht mehr so gut unterhalten gefühlt. Oft konnte ich mir das Lachen kaum verkneifen. Estep hat es in meinen Augen geschafft, genau das richtige Maß an Authentizität und übertriebener Superlative zu finden.
Auch ihre ständigen Wiederholungen, wie ich sie aus anderen Büchern der Autorin kenne, hielten sich dieses Mal in Grenzen, was nicht bedeutet, dass ich nicht im nächsten Band mit den obligatorischen Dopplungen zu rechnen habe. Aber wer weiß? Vielleicht überrascht Estep mich ja ein weiteres Mal. Dieses mal ist ihr das jedenfalls gelungen. Ich konnte mich einfach mal fallen lassen, den schnöden Alltag vergessen und ein (Liebes-)Abenteuer erleben.

Jennifer Estep gehört schon lange zu meinen Lieblingsautorinnen, deswegen war ich auch sehr auf ihre neue Reihe gespannt. Wobei neu relativ ist, da das Buch schon vor 10 Jahren im original erschien ist. Aber ich freue mich, dass nun auch diese Reihe von ihr übersetzt wird.

Zum Inhalt: Carmen Cole ist Reporterin, doch keine Gewöhnliche. Nachdem sie ihren Verlobten in einer prekären Situation erwischt hat, hat sie es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, alle Superhelden und Schurken zu enttarnen. So zieht sie von Stadt zu Stadt und demaskiert so einige. Bis sie in Bigtime landet, dort soll sie die ansässigen Superhelden die Fearless Five enttarnen und die dazugehörigen Erzfeinde. Doch es läuft nicht wie gedacht und Carmen muss sich einer Tragödie stellen, die so einiges verändert. Noch dazu hat es die bösartige Malefica auf sie abgesehen und möchte, dass Carmen die Identität des äußerst attraktiven Strikers auffliegen lässt.
Das Cover passt richtig gut. Man sieht sofort, hier geht es um Superhelden und das Schlichte schwarz mit der Skyline im Hintergrund hat was. Außerdem ist der Titel auch passend, da das Thema Karma immer wieder eine Rolle spielt.
Ich mag den Schreibstil von Jennifer Estep sehr. Hier hat sie wiedereinmal eine taffe Protagonistin geschaffen. Die aber auch immer mal wieder mit sich hadert und etwas im Selbstmitleid versinkt, aber da schafft die Autorin noch die Kurve, bevor es zu nervig wird. Erzählt wird die Geschichte aus der Ich-Perspektive von Carmen. Diese hat einen schönen Humor und besonders ihre Vorliebe für Kuchen machten sie mir sympathisch. Ein schönes Detail sind die Namen, Carmen Cole, Fiona Fine, Sam Sloane usw. da kommt das Superhelden Feeling so richtig gut zutage. Estep schreibt für gewöhnlich eher fantasyhaltige Romane, doch für mich gehört dieses Buch auch in diese Kategorie. Den so ist zum Beispiel eine Frau, die Feuerbälle werfen kann hier zwar eine Superheldin, aber man denke nur an Mab Monroe aus der Spinnen Reihe. Ihr versteht was ich meine?
Carmen ist der Hauptcharakter in Karma Girl. Sie ist in meinen Augen ein typischer Charakter für die Autorin. Carmen sieht durchschnittlich aus und hat etwas in der Vergangenheit erlebt, das sie belastet. Außerdem ist sie nicht auf den Mund gefallen und eine starke Protagonistin. Striker nimmt den männlichen Part ein. Er ist ein Superheld, über den zu Beginn sehr wenig bekannt ist. Ich konnte mir schon sehr früh denken, wer er in Wirklichkeit ist, genauso wie bei den anderen Charakteren. Nur Carmen braucht da etwas länger. Er ist ein sympathischer Kerl, an manchen Stellen hätte ich mir von ihm ein dominanteres Auftreten gewünscht. Das er mal auf den Tisch haut und sagt, was Sache ist.
Wie ein einziger Vorfall die Leben von so vielen Leuten beeinflussen kann. Aber so ist Karma nun mal. Seite 265
Die Geschichte rund um Bigtime und die Superhelden hat mir gefallen. Ich mag zwar Superheldenfilme, doch ein Buch in dem sie eine Rolle spielen, habe ich noch nicht gelesen, so war dies etwas Neues für mich. Es gab immer wieder actionreiche Szenen, aber auch die Romantiker wurden bedient. Manches war in meinen Augen zu offensichtlich und hat mich manche Nerven gekostet. Ich hatte aber trotzdem Spaß beim Lesen. Auf den nächsten Band Hot Mama bin ich gespannt, in diesem wird es um Fiona Fine gehen.
Fazit:
Mit Band 1 der Bigtime Reihe hat Jennifer Estep wieder mal meinen Geschmack getroffen.
Es gibt so einige actiongeladene Szenen, aber auch was fürs Herz, noch dazu eine taffe Protagonistin und ganz viele Superhelden.
Auf den nächsten Band bin ich schon gespannt.

Jennifer Esteps "Karma Girl" ist der erste Band ihrer "Bigtime" Reihe über Superhelden und erscheint im Piper Verlag. Meine Erwartungen an "Karma Girl" waren relativ niedrig, denn dies ist Jennifer Esteps Debüt gewesen und dementsprechend habe ich nicht mit etwas Spektakulärem oder Gigantischen gerechnet. Ich habe mich vollkommen getäuscht und bin hellauf begeistert von "Karma Girl" und ich will definitiv MEHR von Jennifer Esteps Superhelden.
Als der Piper Verlag die Coverwahl zu Jennifer Esteps neuer-alter Reihe veröffentlicht hat, habe ich es kaum glauben können, "Bigtime" wird übersetzt. Ich habe schon mehr als einmal mit dem Gedanken gespielt mir die Reihe in Originalsprache zu kaufen, weil ich eben ein riesengroßer Estep Fan bin und nun DAS. Hach, ein riesengroßes Dankeschön an den Piper Verlag, dass diese wundervolle Reihe nun auch doch auf Deutsch in mein Buchregal einziehen darf. Das wundervolle Cover vermittelt direkt den richtigen Superhelden-Flair und passt dementsprechend perfekt zum Inhalt.
Jennifer Esteps Schreibstil ist grandios, einzigartig und fantastisch, gut das ist mir bereits vor "Karma Girl" bewusst gewesen, aber auch mit dem ersten Band ihrer "Bigtime" Reihe konnte mich Esteps Stil wieder voll und ganz fesseln. Ich liebe ihren Humor und Sarkasmus und auch mit den prickelnden Szenen geizt sie in diesem Reihenauftakt nicht. Und Superhelden können ja so unfassbar sexy sein -schnurr-. Und dann diese knallharte Protagonistin Carmen, die hat es mir voll und ganz angetan. Carmen Cole ist Reporterin und nutzt ihre Gabe des Recherchierens um einen brutalen Schicksalsschlag zu verarbeiten. Sie arbeitet daran jegliche Superhelden zu maskieren und bloß zu stellen, aber nicht nur die Superhelden, sondern auch die Superschurken. Mit dieser Form des Arbeitens sammelt Carmen mit und mit immer mehr Feinde um sich herum und braucht ihren eigenen Superhelden, der sie beschützt. Und eben diese Tatsache wäre schließlich absolut verrücktes Karma.
Wenn ich nicht sowieso schon ein riesengroßer Jennifer Estep Fan wäre, dann aber spätestens nachdem sie einen solch grandiosen Reihenauftakt verfasst hat, über Superhelden (!) und das obwohl es auch noch ihre Debütreihe ist.

Wenn ich nicht sowieso schon ein riesengroßer Jennifer Estep Fan wäre, dann aber spätestens nachdem sie einen solch grandiosen Reihenauftakt verfasst hat, über Superhelden (!) und das obwohl es auch noch ihre Debütreihe ist.

4,5 Sterne für das erste 'Estep'-Buch was ich gelesen habe. Dieses Buch kam gerade genau richtig. Ich fand es eine tolle Story, obwohl ich eigentlich keine Fantasy-Geschichten mag. Hier kam es mir aber alles nicht wie Fantasy vor. Superhelden waren nunmal einfach normal. Auch wenn es eventuell hier und da ein paar Längen gab und ein paar Sachen vorhersehbar waren, hat das Buch eine tolle Bewertung verdient.

I felt this book could've been so much more than it was.
The concept was original - out of all the more recent adult urban fantasy/paranormal romance books these days, the idea of a superhero filled world really tickled my interests. I love superheroes and have always wanted to write a superhero-centric novel myself. So I, of course, jumped on Karma Girl. I was so geared up to read it that I got my hands on the sequel ahead of time.
I won't be reading the sequel. This review will contain spoilers from here on out.
First, the romance. Contrived, contrived, contrived. Constantly, we get Carmen, main character, telling us that a guy like Striker would never want to be with her, she shouldn't be thinking about him, blah blah blah. And it's obvious from the very beginning that they're going to get together. Try harder, author. Add to that the fact that they have NO basis for a relationship - it talks about their "electric" attraction, how he makes her tingle and makes her aroused, but we get no basis for it. They talk about how they're in love by the end, but why - even by then they don't know jack about each other. At the end, I'm still wondering what reason they're together at all besides the sex - if that were supposed to be the only reason, great. But we're told they're in love, and I just don't see why, nor do I give a crap about their relationship.
Second, Carmen's motivations feel weak. She goes out on this revenge spree, unmasking villains and heroes, because her fiance cheated on her with a villain - and, you know, it's never very well-explained. She says she never wants what happened to her to happen to anyone else, but that stretches thin, especially after thirteen unmaskings - and speaking of thirteen, it takes THAT long for a villain to go after her? Why? You'd think they'd want revenge for being uncovered, with how evil she makes them sound.
The author harps on this "karma" concept. After the second or third explanation - mentally and out loud to other character - that Carmen gives of her idea of karma, I wanted to smack her. Okay, we get it, author - are you trying to convince yourself or the readers, here?
And some of it was just STUPID. How could she not notice that almost every hero's name and villain's name was alliterative to their already alliterative first and last names? After the third or fourth time, I think the first person I'd examine would be Sam Sloane who might be Striker.
I wasn't given any time to CARE about Carmen's betrayal on her wedding day. What was Matt like? She tells us he's caring - can we see some of that? Flashbacks, maybe? We're told she feels pain, but that's just it - lots of tell, not enough show. There's a big problem with this book, right there.
The ending conflict felt rushed - I'm supposed to feel like Carmen agonized over her new powers and whether or not Striker wanted her or the superhero, but it was resolved in such a short amount of time, I didn't care. Carmen Cole is on a mission. When she found her fiance in bed with her best friend thirty minutes before her wedding, something in Carmen broke. When she realized that under the wedding clothing that the two were...er...working around...lay the truth of their secret identities, and that her fiance was her town's superhero and her best friend was the town's ubervillain, she did more than break. She snapped. Pictures that is. Of the two lovebirds doing the deed. Then she ran right to the newspaper she worked for and broke the story. Fueled by righteous anger and bearing a load of pain and humiliation, her heartbreak became the fuel for a quest, for a mission - unearth the identities of every superhero and ubervillain there is so no one could be lied to and hurt like she had been. And so her mission began, and she followed it faithfully until the day that her story caused the suicide of one of the superheroes she unmasked. The regret and sorrow over that haunts Carmen, ending her mission, throwing her karma completely out of whack, and leaving her ripe for the pickings of the Terrible Trio - her current city's ubervillain crime bosses. Karma is a bitch, and when it bites back, it leaves marks, and Carmen is just about to realize just how bad karma can get. Will any superhero lend a hand after her mission of disclosure?
As a true tongue-in-cheek romp, Karma Girl is a fun, light read. There's nothing too dark and unpleasant, and even the villains tend to feel more Sunday comics than dark comic book. Nefarious plans and wicked plots abound, as do irrepressible superheroes and sexy millionaire playboys. At the center is Carmen, the wounded reporter who's now paying for her revenge in the worst ways. I truly enjoyed the very "Batman/Superman" feel to the book - the costumes, the masks, the alter-egos, the AU technology and inventions (like the freeze gun stuff and the explodium). It was just a whole lot of fun - and as long as you're okay not taking it seriously, it's a cute romance, too...though admittedly, I would've liked a wee bit more of just Carmen and Striker scenes. The book is written well and while the pacing slowed in a few spots, it was nothing that really distracted from my enjoyment. I enjoyed the F5 group, and the villains were suitably villainous, and sure - it doesn't take a mad scientist to figure out who everyone is, but so what? It's not supposed to for the reader - that AU blind spot (like no one noticed Clark Kent was Superman??) that exists in all superhero books, movies, comics, etc. was well represented here.
There were only a couple of things that really bugged me - the prolific use of the word "karma" and being hit over the head with Carmen's guilt over Tornado's suicide. Both were so, so, so overdone that it exceeded by far the bounds of foreshadowing/plot development and headed straight into being really distracting. I understand the importance of karma as a theme here, and to keep Carmen likable she had to feel remorse for Tornado, but sheesh - there's a fine line and it wasn't just crossed here, the author did the naked samba over it all through the book. Other than those two complaints, I found this book to be a fun, light, and surprisingly cute read that really well represented all those crazy, campy superhero stories. Nicely done.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a novel featuring superheroes and I admit that, knowing the talent of Jennifer Estep, I was curious to discover another of her series. I have this novel for years and it is true that I do not regret finally trying it because I had a good time.
Carmen Cole hates superheroes and their alter-egos the ubervillans. Why is that? On the day of her wedding and feeling that her fiancé hides something from her, she decides to go and ask him for explanations to find him cheating on her with her best friend … But that’s not all, because on top of that, he kept a secret that he was the superhero of the city and her best friend the villain of the story. Scorned and after revealing their identities, she decides to take revenge by unmasking all the heroes and villains so that everyone knows who they are! But now, by becoming more and more known and by unveiling the most appreciated heroes, her career plummets overnight when her latest victim commits suicide after the publication of the paper. Putting everything in question, Carmen will have to face new attentions and especially ubervillains who want her to discover the identity of the sexiest superhero: Striker.
I liked this novel, it’s fresh, it’s full of ideas and it changes from what we usually read everywhere. Carmen realizes little by little that her revenge can have terrible repercussions … Her relationship with Striker is a little delicate and we can see that neither of them really knows how to act in relation to the other. A link exists between them, which pushes them towards each other and yet both know that it is a bad idea.
The story was nice and I really had a good time with the characters. However it is true that there is not a lot of suspense regarding the identity of the characters. While Carmen is looking for who Striker might be, we are almost sure about his identity, just like the great villain of the story. It is not really a problem but I wondered if it was done on purpose or not. In any case it’s a different story to have a good time!

Après avoir lu 3 volumes de l'Araignée, j'avais un bon feeling avec Estep donc me suis lancée dans cette série qui m'a agréablement surprise car je m'attendais à une sorte de copie du précédent. Que nenni! Bigtime n'y ressemble en rien: son univers est particulier, le thème quoique désopilant est complètement différent, et le ton accrocheur.
J'ai tout bonnement adoré! Estep réussi son pari avec ce titre, mélange de Batman, Spiderman, Ligue des justiciers. On a l'impression de voir un comics se dérouler sous nos yeux, sauf qu'elle traite le sujet à sa sauce avec un certain talent, beaucoup d'humour, du suspense et quelques clins d'oeil car elle en reprend malgré tout les codes (dynamique entre les gentils et les méchants, noms de scènes et de villes stéréotypés, les bases secrètes, etc).
J'ai été conquise du début à la fin entre Carmen, héroïne assez marrante et attachante, et Stricker que j'apprécie tout autant qu'elle. ♥ Après une traversée du dessert littéraire, "Karma Girl" est une énorme bouffée d'oxygène qui m'encourage à me jeter avidement sur la suite.
Imaginez un monde comme le notre où chaque ville possède son lot de superhéros et de méchants. Le jour de son mariage la journaliste Carmen Cole découvre non seulement que son fiancée la trompe avec sa meilleure amie, mais qu'en plus ils sont tous 2 des superhéros qui règnent sur la ville. Sous le coup de la colère et du chagrin face à cette trahison, elle assouvie sa vengeance en dévoilant leur identité secrète dans un de ses articles. Et ainsi née sa croisade: afin que plus aucun proche de superhéros ne soit trompé, elle décide de les traquer et de les démasquer les uns après les autres pour révéler qui ils sont vraiment au grand jour. Cela la propulse au sommet jusqu'au jour où, trop bonne dans son job, cela tourne au drame. Profondément atteinte, elle met alors fin à sa quête pour mener une vie plus calme. C'est alors que les méchants de Bigtime, la Terrible Triad, l'enlèvent et lui promettent un sort peu enviable si passé un délai d'un mois elle ne découvre et ne leur révèle pas l'identité des leur ennemi juré, Stricker, l'un des défenseur de la ville.

WHAT. IN. THE. NAME. OF. BLOODY. HADES. WAS. THAT?!

I don't know how to start..
It was a mesh of complete utter bullshit for most part, bursting it's guts out with a pool full of cliches, what with all that talk of explodium and getting hit by lightening (and not dying or going raving mad, oh no, but gaining SUPERPOWERS instead. HOW ORIGINAL.)- AND THE THING THAT MOST APPALLED ME- the writing was all very amateurish.
I never ever expected that of Estep.
But since this book was written some time ago, I think a debut most likely, this seems to be the work of budding writer.
I wish the writer took time to think the whole plot through, maybe then, everything wouldn't have been so predictable and stereotyped down to the ubervillain girl's boots.
AGONY.
It was pure ,vicious agony I tell you, that burned through me as I struggled to get through with this novel since I could almost certainly guess what was next going to happen.
There was no suspense, no mystery, and the heroine kind of sucked. Even their costumes weren't exciting, the only good thing I could find was their lair, which was predictable, sort-of, but good nonetheless.
*sigh*
I'm so disappointed and dejected, I think I'm just gonna go finish the pint of chocolate-chip ice-cream that seems to be calling my name before I drown in kickass-heroine/awesome-story withdrawal and lie down in a fetal position, bawling my eyes out.

Estep's first novel is a hoot with plenty of laughs. Carmen Cole is a woman-scorned, and she vows to unmask all the superheroes and ubervillains as revenge for her fiance' and best friend's betrayal. Yet,there are surprises in store for Bigtime's superheroes and ubervillains and even Carmen herself. Add in some romance, and it is highly recommended fun reading.
Now I know why Gwen Frost (of the Mythos Academy series) had a poster of Karma Girl on her dorm-room wall. Always loved the shout out that harkened back to this novel...clever marketing, too.
p. 228 "We all have our special skills. They don't make us better or worse than each other. Just different."
(about having superpowers...but could be applied to anyone)

I’ve been a huge Jennifer Estep fan ever since I started reading her Elemental Assassin series back in 2011. She has won me over with wonderful characters, fun and action packed plots and interesting world-building. I’ve found that isn’t just limited to to Gin and the gang, but also in two other series that I’ve read from Estep, her YA series, Black Blade and her new fantasy series, Crown of Shards. So, it is about time to try her Bigtime series, which features superheroes and supervillains.
This series is a bit different from the three series I mentioned above, but not in a bad way. I think with this series (or at least from what I can tell from the first book), Estep really had fun showing her love of comic books with this story. Carmen’s life is turned upside down when she finds out that not only is her fiance sleeping with her best friend, on her wedding day, no less, he is also a superhero and her friend is a supervillain. Now Carmen is determined to unmask all heroes and villains alike. She sees them both as liars.
This is a fun start to a series. I grabbed this ebook a long time ago when it was a freebie, but it has sat collecting digital dust as I’ve gotten to where I’m listening a lot more than reading. But while on vacation, I decided it was a perfect time to figuratively dust off this ebook and give this series a try. I’m really glad I did. I was very entertained by the story and I found I want to know where Carmen goes from here.

Zur Rezi auf dem Blog...
Stellt euch eine Welt wie unsere vor, nur dass es dort in jeder Stadt einen eigenen Superhelden (mit Superkräften und in passendem Outfit) und einen bösen Erzschurken gibt. Der Superheld rettet Kinder aus brennenden Hochhäusern, während der Erzschurke natürlich allerlei Dinge unternimmt, um seine Macht zu vergrößern. Genau in so einer Welt lebt die Journalistin Carmen Cole, unsere Protagonistin. Klingt gut? Auf jeden Fall!
Das Setting ist zwar ungewöhnlich bis schräg, aber auch gelungen. Der Einstieg in dieses Buch war auch ganz einfach, denn wir erleben zu Beginn wie Carmen ihren Verlobten in flagranti mit ihrer besten Freundin erwischt. Als wäre das noch nicht schlimm genug: All das passiert an ihrem Hochzeitstag und Carmen entdeckt gleichzeitig, dass die beiden der örtliche Superheld und seine Erzschurkin sind. Total erschüttert, zückt sie aber kurzerhand ihr Handy und fotografiert die beiden. Und das ist der Beginn einer Mission! Verärgert wie sie ist, zieht sie von Stadt zu Stadt und deckt fortan wahre Identitäten auf. Zumindest solange bis das ganze massiv in die Hose geht und Carmen sich plötzlich in einer unberechenbaren, gefährlichen Situation wiederfindet.
Wie bereits angedeutet: Dieses Buch ist schräg, überzeichnet und manchmal alles einfach nur unrealistisch und unlogisch. ABER es macht wahnsinnigen Spaß. Ich mochte all die Beschreibung der Superheldenkostüme, die kreativen Superheldennamen und das Gefühl als würde ich einen Superman-Chicklit-Comic lesen. Carmen ist auch grundsätzlich eine sehr angenehme Figur, die ich wirklich schnell in mein Herz geschlossen habe. Sie ist sympathisch, frech und keine Heulsuse. Dann lernen wir auch noch Striker kennen, ein besonderer Superheld in der Stadt "Bigtime" und Anführer der „Fearless Five“. Der gut aussehende und heldenhafte Striker war mir etwas zu perfekt, aber er ist natürlich ein Superheld, von daher war das schon in Ordnung so.
„Karma Girl“ ist ein originelles und humorvolles Buch, das eine Portion Romantik mitbringt und durch das tolle Setting besticht. Was dem Gesamtpaket aber schadet ist die Vorhersehbarkeit der Geschichte, denn das beginnt schon mit den Namen der Personen und zieht sich auch weiterhin durch die Handlung. Da frustrierte es manchmal schon, dass Carmen für alles etwas länger brauchte und nicht ganz so eine 'Blitzmerkerin' ist. Das ist schade, denn das Buch hätte spannender sein können. Insgesamt liest sich Jennifer Esteps Superheldengeschichte aber wirklich schnell, denn der Schreibstil ist flüssig und passt sehr gut zur Geschichte.
Fazit
„Karma Girl“ ist ein unterhaltsames Buch für alle, die Superhelden und etwas frischen Wind im Fantasygenre mögen. Wer kein tiefschürfendes Buch mit ernsten Themen erwartet und sich auf diese Art von Humor einlässt, der hat viel Spaß beim Lesen. Nur die Vorhersehbarkeit ist etwas nervig, denn so nimmt es der Geschichte an Spannung.
Stellt euch eine Welt wie unsere vor, nur dass es dort in jeder Stadt einen eigenen Superhelden (mit Superkräften und in passendem Outfit) und einen bösen Erzschurken gibt. Der Superheld rettet Kinder aus brennenden Hochhäusern, während der Erzschurke natürlich allerlei Dinge unternimmt, um seine Macht zu vergrößern. Genau in so einer Welt lebt die Journalistin Carmen Cole, unsere Protagonistin. Klingt gut? Auf jeden Fall!
Das Setting ist zwar ungewöhnlich bis schräg, aber auch gelungen. Der Einstieg in dieses Buch war auch ganz einfach, denn wir erleben zu Beginn wie Carmen ihren Verlobten in flagranti mit ihrer besten Freundin erwischt. Als wäre das noch nicht schlimm genug: All das passiert an ihrem Hochzeitstag und Carmen entdeckt gleichzeitig, dass die beiden der örtliche Superheld und seine Erzschurkin sind. Total erschüttert, zückt sie aber kurzerhand ihr Handy und fotografiert die beiden. Und das ist der Beginn einer Mission! Verärgert wie sie ist, zieht sie von Stadt zu Stadt und deckt fortan wahre Identitäten auf. Zumindest solange bis das ganze massiv in die Hose geht und Carmen sich plötzlich in einer unberechenbaren, gefährlichen Situation wiederfindet.
Wie bereits angedeutet: Dieses Buch ist schräg, überzeichnet und manchmal alles einfach nur unrealistisch und unlogisch. ABER es macht wahnsinnigen Spaß. Ich mochte all die Beschreibung der Superheldenkostüme, die kreativen Superheldennamen und das Gefühl als würde ich einen Superman-Chicklit-Comic lesen. Carmen ist auch grundsätzlich eine sehr angenehme Figur, die ich wirklich schnell in mein Herz geschlossen habe. Sie ist sympathisch, frech und keine Heulsuse. Dann lernen wir auch noch Striker kennen, ein besonderer Superheld in der Stadt "Bigtime" und Anführer der „Fearless Five“. Der gut aussehende und heldenhafte Striker war mir etwas zu perfekt, aber er ist natürlich ein Superheld, von daher war das schon in Ordnung so.
„Karma Girl“ ist ein originelles und humorvolles Buch, das eine Portion Romantik mitbringt und durch das tolle Setting besticht. Was dem Gesamtpaket aber schadet ist die Vorhersehbarkeit der Geschichte, denn das beginnt schon mit den Namen der Personen und zieht sich auch weiterhin durch die Handlung. Da frustrierte es manchmal schon, dass Carmen für alles etwas länger brauchte und nicht ganz so eine 'Blitzmerkerin' ist. Das ist schade, denn das Buch hätte spannender sein können. Insgesamt liest sich Jennifer Esteps Superheldengeschichte aber wirklich schnell, denn der Schreibstil ist flüssig und passt sehr gut zur Geschichte.
Fazit
„Karma Girl“ ist ein unterhaltsames Buch für alle, die Superhelden und etwas frischen Wind im Fantasygenre mögen. I'm a big fan of Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series and immediately fell in love with the premise and characters of her Mythos Academy series, so I had a hinch that I would be in for a great story when I started reading Karma Girl, but I never expected to be blown away this much!
Karma Girl is the first novel in Jennifer Estep’s Bigtime series which is set in an alternate universe where every town in the world has their own superheroes (“someone who shows up whenever the train runs off the tracks and won’t stop”) and ubervillains, the archnemesis of the superheroes, those “who want to rule supreme”. Cape and tight wearing cartoon characters are actually real people and battles done with superpowers are true and not sci-fi stories. Can you imagine such a colourful, buzzing and heightened world? Well multiply what you picture by a thousand and you might get close to Bigtime, where if someone says “traffic was terrible” it might mean that “Yeti Girl was throwing cars around the freeway. Swifte showed up and helped the cops tranq her, but it took them forever to get the debris off the road.”
The Bigtime series is flashing with the bright costumes of the several dozens of superheroes and ubervillains Jennifer Estep introduces: there is Granny Cane (yep you got it right, she is an old lady of seventy who grabs the purse-stealing thugs and brings them to the police lol), reformed ubervillain Shrieker who signs copies of her tell-all memoir in the mall, but the most famous ones in the city are the Fearless Five and the Terrible Triad.
“They were legends, not just in Bigtime, but throughout the world. They had the strongest powers. They waged the biggest battles. They engaged in the most amazing escapes and the most elaborate schemes. They were the crème de la crème of superheroes and ubervillains.”
I just loved all the cartoon-like speaking names of the superheroes and ubervillains: the Toastmaster, The Kilted Scotsman, the Blue Berserker, the Fearless Five and the Terrible Triad; and the alliterating names for every character (Sam Sloane, Nate Norris, Devlin Dash, Carmen Cole) helped even more to make me feel like I was watching an episode of Superman. :-D
Carmen, our heroine, is a great character: she is an ordinary girl, one the reader can relate to. She is funny and independent but not too good to be true. She is human and flawed. But her sense of humour is without a pair, I especially loved her t-shirts, they were the best:
"T-shirt that read 0 to Bitch in 7.7 seconds or your money back.
T-shirt that read Love just weighs a woman down."
And her lines like the ones below made me chuckle out loud countless times:
“I scanned the street and the surrounding alleys. Nothing. I bit back a growl of frustration. Striker wasn’t going to show. I had come down to Drugs R Us and put myself in danger for nothing.” - ROFL
What I loved most about Carmen was that she treated superheroes and ubervillains as if they were normal, ordinary people. She was impudent, cheeky, she didn’t censor herself for fear of angering them, she remained her usual self.
"A block went by, then another, then another. I wasn’t sure what to say to him, given the way our last conversation had gone. It hadn’t been a smashing success. “So, how was your day?” I asked."
Can you imagine that? A superhero is walking her home so she isn’t attacked and she tries to make ordinary small talk with him! Unbelievable, and so adorable :-D
"What could you say to a superhero you’d slept with? Thank you? Atta-boy? Keep up the good work?"
Striker is a dashing hero. Besides being a superhero and everything that entails: drop dead gorgeous body, noble intentions, heroic and fierce protector, he has a tender and intense side to him when it comes to Carmen.
“Superheroes aren’t perfect, you know. Just because some of us have superstrength doesn’t mean we never get scared. We have fears and insecurities and worries too. I was afraid tonight. Afraid for you. I saw the men chase you into the alley. I was afraid I wouldn’t be quick enough to save you, fast enough to stop them.”
The love story between Carmen and Striker was exciting yet tender. His gentleness and care didn’t only make Carmen melt but I was a puddle myself. (and of course the heat of some scenes are to be blamed as well, there were some seriously sensual love scenes)
"His hot breath brushed against my cheek as soft as a butterfly’s kiss on my feverish skin."
Karma Girl is a wonderful mix of mystery, adventure, romance and heaps of cheeky humour! I loved the wonderfully colourful characters, the exciting worldbuilding, the puzzling mystery, all the heart pounding action and of course the wonderful love story deleoping between Carmen and Striker!
Verdict: I was already a big fan of Jennifer Estep but Karma Girl made me even more devoted! It is such a laugh out loud funny, incredibly witty, amusing, breath of fresh air story, I loved every second of it and cannot wait to read more about the superheroes and ubervillains’ adventures!
I give Karma Girl 4.5 stars!

A fun, original superhero book focusing on a girl named Carmen (a Lois Lane type of character) who has been burned badly by a superhero (talking: he was her fiancé and he cheated on her on their wedding day burned, ironically that's the same time she found out that he was in fact a superhero) She proceeds to reveal his secret identity to the world and decides it's her calling to save everyone else from being fooled like her and proceeds to go around the country revealing superheroes and ubervillains alike to the general public. (What could go wrong?) Overall it was a fast paced read with a lot of action and mystery as you try to figure out who is behind the masks with a nice romantic subplot.

Karma Girl is about Carmen Cole. She is a reporter whose main interest is to reveal the faces of every Superhero and villain. She started to do so because her fiance was one. Well, it has more to it, but it's said in the summary, so no need to repeat it.
I like Carmen. She has a likable personality, takes her work seriously, and is weird. But in a good way. I liked almost every character, even the evil ones. My favorite character (after Carmen)was Striker AKA Sam Sloane.
What I disliked though was every characters name. Only one person didn't have both first and last names starting with the same letter, but other than that, I really enjoyed the book.
I would give this book a 4.5 AKA 5, but the reason I didn't was because the plot wasn't too good. Also, being my age, some of the parts bothered me. I know this is an adult book, and I shouldn't have read it, but I really liked the author. So yea....
Anyway, back to the review:
This book is very interesting. A little cheesy, but interesting. It was a little predictable, but not to a point where you don't want to read after 3 chapters because you know it all.
My favorite parts were when she figures out that Striker is Sam Sloane. Even though that moment wasn't really, it felt very emotional. I connected with her and felt happy for her, and I would say that would be the rising point in the plot.
Anyway....
Another part was when she was in the alley, and the rapists were hitting her. It felt very realistic to me. I got goosebumps because of how much I felt I was there.
What I like about this book is that even though it's written in first person, the Carmen doesn't have bad grammar. She uses some words I have yet to learn, but overall, I think this book is a 4.35.
It is another one of Jennifer Estep's epic books, and everyone that likes superheroes should read it.

Holy blue eye shadow, Batman! This funny book is a sort of combination of sassy-sexy-chick-lit meets comic-book meets paranormals. On her wedding day, reporter Carmen Cole discovers her husband-to-be in the arms of her best friend and maid of honor. As they go at it, hot and heavy, their clothes reveal that he is the superhero Machinator and she's his arch-enemy, the ubervillan Crusher. Carmen, like any reporter scorned, takes a photo and her first page story revealing their secret identity propels her career out of her hick town.
After exposing superheroes and ubervillans for small newpapers, she's hired by a large metropolitan newspaper in Bigtime, NY. Bigtime is populated with supervillans and ubervillans in epic and not-so-epic battles of good and evil. The premier ubervillans and the Triad and the Fearless Five are relentlessly good....
Gotham City is a playground compared to Bigtime. While this is like a comic book, Carmen Cole is an endearing character and the book was both funny and interesting! Naturally, there's a sequel and one coming out later this yea.

Peut être que si j'étais totalement honnête, j'aurais enlevé une étoile pour le récit à la première personne du singulier! J'aurais vraiment adoré entrer dans la tête de Striker. Mais bon, l'humour, le ton décalé et les quelques passages romantiques m'ont fait couiner ! J'ai eu du mal à le lâcher (sauf quand je me suis endormie dessus, mais ce n'est pas de ma faute, j'étais dans mon lit, au chaud dans le noir). Carmen est fun, sarcastique, normale (physiquement, ce n'est pas un top), elle a de super tee-shirts et est capable de se remettre en question (pas comme certaines dindes que j'ai subi dans mes lectures dernièrement). Pis Striker pfiou ... Il y a même un geek à lunettes choupitrognon
Donc c'est 5 étoiles!!!
(il va sans dire qu'un autre beau gosse brun aux yeux clair et se baladant en costume de super héros m'a trotté dans la tête tout au long de ma lecture)
