Want to say I reread the book after I heard a podcast the author was in so my rating is actually based on the second round. The 1st I would have said 4/5. (maybe an additional .25 for Ryan because HOT DAMN!) Ryan really is the best plot twist I have read this year. I can drool over him ;)

OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS WITH CHARACTERS LIKE HIM!

I want to start with the dedication and acknowledgements. This is how you do a dedication and come full circle. I haven't seen an author do that ever. I know she spoke about it but I didn't even realize it until I reread the book.

After hearing that Neeti's story was based on the trauma the author had faced while she was in her younger's twenties and rereading it I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that someone could be mentally and emotionally abused in that sense. No wonder Neeti was a character I fell in love with from the start. She seemed to be relatable. Regardless of what trauma someone has faced whether it was Neeti, Ryan, Ellie or Abhi, the characters were made to be relatable.

Jyoti is doing a beautiful job shedding light on the topics which are considered taboo, especially in the South Asian communities. I am ecstatic to have a copy of Beautiful Consequence in my hands now! I hope pre-order is available soon! Publishers are missing out because they aren't knocking on her door to have her signed with them. This is why I adore Indie Authors- Booktok hasn't made them overhyped.

A Captivating Read with Depth and Potential for Sequels

Rating: 5/5

I recently had the pleasure of delving into this book and despite initial reservations prompted by mixed reviews, I found myself thoroughly engrossed in its narrative. It is evident that amidst the transition from third-person to first-person perspective, certain oversights by the editor remain present. However, these imperfections do little to detract from the overall readability and enjoyment of the work.

One of the standout aspects of this book is its cast of relatable characters, each intricately woven into a compelling enemies-to-lovers storyline. The development of relationships throughout the narrative adds depth and authenticity to the unfolding drama, making for a truly immersive reading experience.

Additionally, the prospect of a sequel is tantalizing, with ample potential for further exploration of characters such as Ryan & Nancy or Ellie & Ishaan. Furthermore, the notion of a redemption arc for Nick presents an intriguing possibility that could add layers to the narrative.

I must also commend the author for the skillful execution of filler chapters, which, far from being mere diversions, contribute meaningfully to the progression of the plot.

In conclusion, this book exceeded my expectations and stands as a testament to the author's storytelling prowess. Despite minor editorial oversights, its strengths lie in its well-drawn characters, engaging plot, and the promise of future installments. Highly recommended for those seeking a compelling and immersive literary experience.

ending completely SHOCKED me and i wasn’t ready for the plot twist.

I love that this book tackles some of the taboo subjects some of us are scared to talk about and i think it makes it more relatable, or at least in my case. love the character development, especially neeti’s and i’m really excited to keep up with this new author!

to the author, great job writing out these “sensitive” topics and being brave enough to do so!! we need more writers like you.

Ryan! Ryan, Ryan, Ryan. I had to put the book down when I found out who Ryan actually was because of how shocked I had become! Ryan was my favorite character from the start and when I found out his relationship (no spoilers) IMO he became even more of a favorite character. I hadn't seen a plot twist as amazing as this one, in any of the books I read. I'd give it 50/5 stars if I could.

If you aren't Punjabi or even Brown, you will learn so much about the culture. Even I had no idea for example, for how long us Punjabi girls are supposed to wear our chooda (bangles) for.

The author did a beautiful job making the characters be people that anyone could relate to. If you can't relate to all, there should be at least one that speaks to you. I am Punjabi as well, so finally seeing a book with Punjabi characters that fall under Punjab Punjabi with a hint at Sikh traditions- like an Anand Karaj was beautiful.

Being Punjabi isn't the reason I gave it 5 starts though. If you read the book it hits everything:
*Enemies to lovers
*Found family
*A plot twist nobody saw coming
*Fall vibes
*If you want to cry there are chapters that make you cry, if you want to laugh the chapters full of banter will do exactly that
*slow burn
Trigger warnings for this book:
-mentions of depression, anxiety and mention of death

I am so excited to for Beautiful Consequence now!

Extremely difficult to read given all the grammatical mistakes and unorganized characters. It was 6 chapters before I was even able to figure out what a character's gender was because of the misspelling and incorrect punctuation. Truthfully it was a short read and it felt like it took weeks to get through.
Definitely skip this one, I was left with a headache trying to follow along and lost the money that could have gone to a better book.

Rereading for the 4th time! ⭐️

One of my favorite books of the year and Jyoti has quickly become on of my favorite debut artists. I love the way she tackles the topic of therapy and mental illness and her writing style is so unique. I won't even get to the plot twist; you'll just have to read it for yourself to find out ;)
