why does rina kent love making people hate the royal elite parents? can she stop making the parents villains its so fucking annoying?
my expectations for this book were SO HIGH, i was so fucking excited for the grumpy/sunshine trope, but it gave nothing.
the plot was all over the fucking place. the fucking kidnapping to the island was a shit comedy show. and do not even get me started on HOW BLAND creigh and annika were.
annika was not a sunshine, she was just a naive 17-year-old girl who made the color purple her whole personality. i loved annika in god of malice, but i didn't connect with her the way i wanted to. why does she 'say' she changes and is more confident after having sex for the first time. like change does not come that quickly. i hate how most of rina kents mfc's personality depend and revolve on sex. like after they experience it for the first time, thats all they think about.
rina kent is usually good with mental illness/health representation, but when it came to annika's mental health, it perished. it was described that she was depressed but there was no development of mental health. it was mentioned 2-3 times by other people, and then they still treat her like shit. same with creigh, his trauma is mentioned once or twice, but it doesn't showcase the full effect.
creigh WAS BORING. I THOUGHT HE WAS A VIRGIN. BOO. he wasn't the grump i wanted. he wasnt all that mysterious either. he was plain and simple, with trauma, your average book boy. WHERE DID HIS BOXING/FIGHTING GO. i thought it would've been a big part of his character but he fights like 1-2 times for a few pages.
someone please teach rina kent what grovelling is.
don't even get me started on the parents. i absolutely hated lia and adrian in this book, they were absolute assholes. protecting your child is very different than controlling every aspect of their life. lia and adrian were so fucking unreasonable it made me want to fucking stab them. the fucking sexism was real.
why does aiden, a 50 year old man, have so much fucking beef with his 25 year old child? is aiden that fucking insecure with his dick that he challenges his child, HIS CHILD, as if he were dirt under his shoe. eli is a psychopath, yea, but holy fuck me aiden needs to get his ego and shit under control, it's annoying.
i actually quite like eli, which is a shocker for me. his relationship with creigh was adorable. i loved that eli genuinely cared about creigh. eli has definitely upped himself on my log men list.
the plot was all over the place, i feel like the rina kent mystery plot spark has left for this series because, 1) it got boring and simple. 2) it's getting so repetitive. 3) it's plain fucking stupid.
the dialogue was SO CRINGE. it's the reason it took me so long to finish this book.
personally, for me, the smut was not it. maybe it's cus i have a stupid cold, but i was skimming them. the smut was boring. ALSO why are all the men so fucking obsessed with anal, its okay to not like anal. why do they keep pushing it upon the women.

Why is it so in my fashion to be the one crying the loudest about the all lucky arc readers out there who had got their hands on this book first and also to eventually wind up being the last person to actually read the book? 🤣
The next one in the series comes out in less than two weeks. This woman writes faster than I read.Explains a lot of things, tbh. 💀
To be fair I don't think this is the worst RK's book. Not by any means. The story is your typical Rina Kent's book in its full unabashed cheesy glory.
Normally I take comfort in her books because I know what to expect from them. There's definitely something appealing about familiar things. I also know what to not expect from that bitch. I'm not coming back to RK's peaceful harbor for good writing, original characters or plausible plot twists. By all means! We are having an agreement here.
But for some reason I had more difficulty connecting to Annika and Creighton's story than I had expected.
For the most part, I'm annoyed that I don't get to see any growth from Rina Kent as a writer. Her stories and her writing are so trite and there are so many of them already that each time I find it more and more difficult to draw comfort from her mainstream, mediocre content. I think I finally reached the point where familiarity breeds contempt.
I like seeing authors get better and better with each new book, but unfortunately this is not the case with Miss Rina. Maybe she should try NOT releasing a new book every other month??
I'm really sad right now because normally Rina's books awaken the comedian from the depths of my soul and I'm having a lot of fun clowning her shit, but today I just want to rant like a middle-aged woman whose coffee wasn't served hot enough. 🤧

With 4 of them consisting of one word only?? Written in italics, too, in order to keep us on tenterhooks. 💀💀💀
Who's even surprised this book is 487 pages long? If you pay attention, you'll notice how this book is infested with tiny paragraphs.

❥Is that how a sunshine heroine is supposed to sound?
Someone tell Miss Rina that putting on a façade of sunshine and being sunshine are two completely different personality types.

The promised grumpy/sunshine dynamic where?? You can't seriously believe that you'll deliver a good grumpy/sunshine romance when you already have your main characters deeply in lust with each other from the first few pages. Comes as no surprise the tension sipped so quickly out of this book. Feelings need time to develop.
Still came as the biggest surprise to our king of acute observation Creighton that a sheltered mafia princess was a virgin. 🤣🤣 I wish characters stopped acting so scandalized by something that's perfectly normal, such as being a virgin at barely eighteen.

RK has never been very articulate in her prose, but lately all these clichéd analogies, metaphors and phrases are so overabundant that they force me to skim half of the book.

You simply can't get any more unoriginal and trite than this. Good old 'monsters, devils, deviant and demented souls' with their infinite 'thirst for blood and violence'. (🙄)
Make me think that the hero is demented. I don't care how many times you tell me he's scary when the only remotely bad thing he manages to commit is trying to set some house on fire and FAILING. 🤣🤣🤣 Demented also-ran felon.

I really enjoyed this book in the beginning but it eventually bored me out bc it kept on going, at some point i just wanted Rina to wrap it up and give me an ending. I didn’t necessarily hate this but i also didn’t love it.
Idk if i’m the only one but i sometimes couldn’t feel the connection between Annika and Creighton. He seemed emotionally unavailable, and she was kind of naive in my eyes. Anyway i think it was an amazing story but would’ve been greater if the length was shorter.

Creigh and Anni served the grumpysunshine, he doesn't talk & she doesn't shut up SO FLIPPING GOOD. Their story did not go where I thought it was going to AT ALL which I LOVED cause I hate when I can predict the story and twists and whatnot.
SPEAKING of the TWIST. HOLY SHIT the aftermath was fucking insane. I did not see what was coming whatsoever. Like the ups and downs, left and rights, had my jaw was dropping every freaking chapter. It was NOT a conventional plot AT ALL and I ate. It. Up. Just everything I was hoping for and more.
I was genuinely not prepared for Mr. Creighton King. He shocked the hell out of me. His possessiveness and protectiveness to Anni was DELICIOUS as well as his little sweet moments. HER BIRTHDAY, let's just say, Cray Cray, yeah he killed it. He did annoy me a bit at times and cringe me out so that's why not 5 stars!

MS. ANNIKA VOLKOV. Now, where do I even start? Her sunshine, word vomit, purple personality was just perfect. She was so fun and I really did LOVE her character. I loved her mind and the way she worked, she wasn't a typical sunshine character.
Basically, nothing about this book, the characters, the plot, the twist, the EVERYTHING was typical or what I was expecting. I had ideas and crap that I thought might happen, yeah no. Rina said, "NOPE! Your brain isn't as good as mine."
And thank god for that marvelous brain of hers. I don't know what I would do without it.
And real quick, THE SIDE CHARACTERS. AHHHFOIESHFESFHL. yeah, that's me SCREAMING because I'm in love with them all and anytime I think of them I start smiling and kicking my feet. Safe to say I'm already obsessed.
And the daddies? SUCH HOT FUCKING DILFS. I swear I think I need to go reread the deception trilogy & royal elite after this book because I am just CRAVING those two men. Every word they said had me excited 😏😛😉
But really, you just need to experience this book, just like all of Rina's other books, because simple brains like mine who write reviews can't do them justice.

I should’ve taken the title as a warning because I was indeed in pain while reading this.
I don’t even know what I just read, the first 40% was nice, kinda entertaining; the last 60% was a completely mess, all went downhill from there. First of all, I don’t see the reason why Rina needed to write a book with bdsm when the fmc is 17 years old, I couldn’t care less if both of them were at least 21 but it just didn’t make sense with these main characters.
the plot in this? lost. I feel like half of the book was written by someone and the other half by another person. Nothing was coherent, everything was all over the place. Rina added so many tropes and subplot elements in the book and none of them contributed anything to the story, at some point I didn’t even knew why I was reading this.
This book could have been at least 100 pages shorter and maybe I would have liked it more, also the plot twist was so predictable.

I’ve never rolled my eyes as much as I did while reading her pov, she is not a sunshine like she was portrayed in god of malice,I’m going to say this in the nicest way possible but she’s just a stupid girl who doesn’t know when to shut up. I really liked her when I read GOM and I thought that I was going to like her more here…. well, I couldn’t stand her. She was childish, WAY TOO dramatic, annoying and her only personality was being obsessed with the color purple and whoever Tchaikovsky is.
She is supposed to suffer from depression but I believe it was mentioned only twice and everything was superficial, and then she went all crazy after what she did to Creighton and I swear Rina is just doing copy and paste because tell me why Annika suddenly followed her mother steps and [SPOILERS‼️‼️] wanted to kill herself 🙄 girl be fr, it wasn’t a big deal.
✎ Creighton: meh, he was ok I guess. One thing that I hated was the whole revenge thing for something that happened when he was 3 years old, I know that that’s supposed to be part of the plot but it’s just ridiculous. And the whole kidnapping scene was very random and unnecessary
✎ Annika & Creigh: boring and bland🥱 don’t get me wrong at the first chapters I thought that they were cute together, then they started to get tiresome with [SPOILERS maybe‼️‼️] the whole “oh i can’t choose you over my family” “then you never going back home” blah blah blah.

✦ Eli: I really liked his scenes and the interactions between Creighton and Eli. They were sweet and it seems that they really care for each other.

I lowkey want to reread the deception trilogy just so I can erase whatever I read of them here, however it was nice to see my some of my favs, like Yan and Jonathan with Ethan and Agnus so that was very enjoyable.

Her brother Jeremy will one day take over for their father and Annika knows that women in the mafia are used to make alliances through arranged marriages so she knows that will most likely be her fate one day. Meanwhile she is attending Royal Elite University as an art student. Her brother goes to the nearby Kings U and is very protective of her.
The Hero: Creighton King - He is the adopted son of British powerhouses Aiden King and Elsa Steel. He loves his family but feels that something is missing in him. It happened when he was three years old and saw his real parents massacred in front of him. He has deviant tastes and dark desires. He rarely speaks and is determined to find out what happened to his biological family.
The Story: Annika is like a tiny ray of sunshine around campus. She is talkative, bright and nice to everyone. Though she hides behind her bright sunny nature, she has OCD and yearns to live life on her own terms. She hangs around with a group of the elites of Royal Elite, The sons and daughters of Levi and Aiden King, Xander Knight, Ronan Astor, and Cole Nash. She loses interest in most people once she gets to know them, but Creighton King is a different story, he fascinates and scares her.
I won’t go any further into the story, but to say that Rina Kent is a master at getting you interested in dark and mysterious characters from the first words of her books. I get drawn into her stories from the first words and can’t wait to find out what these people will do. Creighton was a great anti-hero and is my new favorite book boyfriend! Annika was lovable and it was easy to empathize with her throughout the story.
There is a ton of chemistry between Creighton and Annika and though they are opposites, they are both interesting in their own way. Him for being the bad boy he is with a dark and mysterious past and her for being multi-faceted and hiding things behind such a cheerful disposition. I wanted to know everything about what these two had beneath the surface from the very start.
The world building is terrific and I just love this world. I thought I liked the world of Royal Elite School when Aiden King was there, but this world of Royal Elite University and Kings U is even better. This second generation are exactly everything I love about dark romance. So many of them are psychopaths and sociopaths and every one of the guys is a god in his own right. I can’t wait to read about every single one of them.

Creighton King, i am at your service.
Rina Kent really stepped up with the second instalment of this series and no one could be happier than me. the previous book was such a disappointment and when it was revealed this was Creigh and Anni’s book... i needed it to be better, and it was.
the first half of this was hands down five stars. the second half of this... kinda let the book down. i think the conflict was far too severe. i still don’t understand how, not just Creigh and Anni were meant to come back from all of that shit, but the whole ensemble of characters. the book just took an overly dramatic turn that soured my adoration for the romance.
but i can’t sit here and say i still didn’t eat it all up because i did🧍
it was fast-paced, addictive and so fun. this is what the first book was missing. so even if i found the plot twists convoluted and pretty dumb, id take that over being bored, so.
the shining star of the book were the two MCs and the romance, eurghhhh.
like you can’t tell me this isn’t Annika and Creigh😭🥺
i loved the way they both blossomed and changed, pushed each other to be better and to embrace parts of themselves they never previously allowed themselves. they’re a lot like Lia and Adrian that way— although, some of the parallels and nods to Annika’s parents were a bit excessive. and they’re my babies so that’s saying something. (Adrian and Creigh both being jealous of Yan was so fucking funny, though😭😭😭).
i don’t think the book hits as hard if you’re not a Volkov whore. but i am one, so it’s okay.
but anyways, yeah, i loved the development of Annika and Creigh as people. they fought so hard for each other that i wanted to sob at times, my god. especially come of Creigh’s big speeches, that man is a poet!!
like Creigh coming for the girlies’ necks was iconic of him. he really said “don’t come for my girl because i will fuck you up”. especially boring bitch, Glyndon.
he really is her defender, im weeping🥺
AND WATCHING HIS GRUMPY ARSE BE SO SOFT WITH HER????? the whole debacle with Tiger the car had me throwing myself against a wall. peak romance, people. the way he only laughs when he’s around her???!!!! THEIR POWER!!
they are the standard for this series, Glyndon and Killian are just musty bitches no one even remembers at this point.

Things I didn't love:

✧ ok but this was honestly so good?? i admit i started the first book when it was released, but still haven't gotten around to finishing it (just a matter of me being distracted with something else at the time and lost my mood to continue afterwards lol), but i was invested with this one specifically from the start. i loved Creighton and Annika's dynamic so much and the way Creighton was obsessed with her? chefs kiss. i also loved seeing Annika's development by the end. there was a certain scene she left me shook bc i never would have expected it from her in the beginning, but i was definitely rooting for her. i was giddy during their cute moments, which they had more than i thought they would but i adored it. <3
✧ NIKOBRAN!! oh god, these two have me on a chokehold from the few interactions they've had in this book. i think i'm looking forward to their book the most, but Eli/Ava and Landon intrigued me so i can't wait for their stories as well. of course, me being excited for Jeremy's book is already obvious bc i've loved him since the Deception trilogy. 😩
✧ how i felt about Niko and Landon was the exact same way i felt about Kirill:
i think these two will definitely be my favorite characters of the 2nd gen (from what i've seen of them so far). 😭

This book – I devoured it in one sitting and just under 6 hours. I left sleep alone and focused solely on this incredible book. I couldn’t put it down, I needed answers and resolutions.
I really liked God of Malice but I fucking loved God of Pain. This is by far so much better than God of Malice and it’s all because of Annika and Creighton.

You know Creighton was clueless on how he felt about her when he showed up in her room after that attempted arson and touched her face. How he thought she wasn’t in his thoughts before is beyond me?
Annika has become one of my favorite FMC's, her mom Lia is still at the top though and the Deception Trilogy still reigns supreme and seeing Adrian made me scream way too loud. He was still madly in love with Lia, madly obsessive and possessive and of course madly protective. I loved that we got both his and Lia’s POV chapters.
Watching Creigh go from living inside a shell to embracing so much around him that even people who have known him all his life were utterly shocked by his actions. He staked his claim towards Anni in front of everyone and just couldn’t stand anybody taking up her thoughts or time that wasn’t him.
The way that it mainly starts for them is when Annika decides she needs a fake boyfriend to show that she is ''in love'' and won't be forced into an arranged marriage. She knows her dad would never allow it if she loves someone. She asks Bran or Remi at first and not Creighton which causes him to go balistic. He wonders why it can't be him and so the cat/mouse game begins.
They go on dates and spend more time together. He pretends to like her gross cooking and entertains her date ideas. He talks to her and opens up. That bathtub scene was heartbreaking.
The subtle moments they shared before they become a couple - my favorite has to be the part where they have a picnic and dance on the rain. Their first kiss. Hers and HIS. Yes, our Creigh has devious tendencies towards women but it’s all control and inflicting pain. Kissing wasn’t something he wanted to do but with Anni it was all he wanted.

The ways they fell so comfortably into a relationship. He didn’t fight it after realizing she was good for him. He didn’t feel like she was trying to change him. They did have tough moments when he opened up his past, but they got through it. His custom-made purple diamond necklace for his birthday! The kitten she was taking care of being her next gift as he it for her! Argh bless him.
The scene where he claims her in front of everyone was amazing. He tells them they have gone on dates and can't help but touch her for everyone to see then kisses her so they know she is his.

The spice – listen this was top notch. It was amazing and made me blush way too many times.

I knew that his past had to be related to the Mafia, but I was sure that he was probably part of the Irish Mafia or something and never did I imagine his father was Richard – the candidate that was in the pocket of the Mafia and who also took advantage of helpless and one day decided to attach and try to sexually assault Lia which caused his death certificate. His wife (Creigh’s mother) was even more in deep shit. She was in cahoots with her husband in such a disturbing way that when he died, she was left to deal with the aftermath and decided to kill herself by hanging and kill 3-year-old Creigh by gas. He got away. He remembers ALL of the events of that night – seeing his mother hanging, all of it haunts him and he wants revenge.
When he finds out about Annika’s parents being connected to his childhood trauma, he wants to take matters into his own hands and avenge not his parents who considers to be trash but avenge the 3-year-old little helpless boy who was shaped by what happened.
I do not think ANYBODY will see that twist coming, I also do not think anybody will see the events that transpired after he confronted Jeremy. He basically goes off and just wants it all to end, knowing he can’t have Anni after the truth is revealed is devastating, he wants to die, and he provoked an Anni who has a gun (we find out before that she has excellent aim and never misses) she comes flying down to the basement where Landon has kidnapped Nikolai and lured in Jeremy.
She is forced and provoked to shoot Creigh – yes, you read that right. She SHOOTS him right in the chest to save her brother who he stabbed in the arm. Creigh did it to make it all end and die.
As she never misses, she doesn’t hit his heart and he recover but she is ousted by his family and friends and Adrian my darling comes to the UK to take her away. Where he has a showdown with Aiden. I know Aiden is a psycho, but Adrian is worse in my eyes. In a fight who would win? For me it’s Adrian no doubt.
Creighton telling Eli what she means to him before coming up with his plan:
''I like spending time with her. She's the light I never thought I needed and the one person who can fill up the hollowness.''
Anni goes back to NYC and it’s a month until she sees him again where he enlists the help of Cecily to lure her away and kidnap her (Cecily did not know about the kidnapping plan). Takes her to the island owned by his grandfather and they spend weeks together. He wants her to pick him and choose him in the moments he believes she would always choose her family. Their relationship is severely strained and suffers because of the darkness looming over them.
Adrian AGAIN shows up (never stop showing up) and is determined to hurt/kill Creigh for kidnapping his daughter and harming her. Anni finally realizing at that moment that all Creigh wanted was to know he would once be chosen over what she knows, and loves decides to take matters into her own hands and point the gun to herself and threaten death. Creigh admits he loves her, and she ever dies he would follow right after (dramatic in reality but in books it’s what we want to hear lol).

She finally relents and Adrian finally agrees to take them both away and not cause harm. I loved seeing Creigh rile up Adrian the way Yan does. Threatening him that he will marry Anni and give him grandkids- a threat in the epilogue he tells Anni he will need to tell her that it will become a reality. So I guess they will be the first ones to get hitched maybe??
- We get great cameos from Yan and Kolya (loyal guards of Adrian and Lia’s).
- We do get Adrian and Lia (that's all I really asked for tbh)
- We don’t get to see Glyn and Killian a lot (which made me happy they didn’t take away from the story).
- We do not get anything from Mia which means nothing from her and Landon. Landon does cause a lot of problems though.
- We do get more moments from Brandon and Nikolai – especially in the basement.
- We do get Eli and Ava moments – Ava mostly hating him lol and Eli being a incredibly big brother.
- We do get scenes with Aiden and Elsa (including Jonathan, Agnus, and Ethan).
- We do get Jeremy and Cecily crumbs <<<< This has to be the next couple. The epilogue has Cecily try to tell Anni something in secret but gets interrupted by Creigh. She was spooked. I should mention that when she helped Creighton get Annika, she had to face the wrath of Jeremy, and something had to have happened – also it is again stated that she sneaks out in the middle of the night. Where is she going??
Overall as you can tell I loved this. I wish I hadn't finished it so quickly but it's been such an incredible journey.
Can't wait to see which couple is next in God of Wrath!

You know Creighton was clueless on how he felt about her when he showed up in her room after that attempted arson and touched her face. How he thought she wasn’t in his thoughts before is beyond me?
Annika has become one of my favorite FMC's, her mom Lia is still at the top though and the Deception Trilogy still reigns supreme and seeing Adrian made me scream way too loud. He was still madly in love with Lia, madly obsessive and possessive and of course madly protective. I loved that we got both his and Lia’s POV chapters.
Watching Creigh go from living inside a shell to embracing so much around him that even people who have known him all his life were utterly shocked by his actions. He staked his claim towards Anni in front of everyone and just couldn’t stand anybody taking up her thoughts or time that wasn’t him.
The way that it mainly starts for them is when Annika decides she needs a fake boyfriend to show that she is ''in love'' and won't be forced into an arranged marriage. She knows her dad would never allow it if she loves someone. She asks Bran or Remi at first and not Creighton which causes him to go balistic. He wonders why it can't be him and so the cat/mouse game begins.
They go on dates and spend more time together. He pretends to like her gross cooking and entertains her date ideas. He talks to her and opens up. That bathtub scene was heartbreaking.
The subtle moments they shared before they become a couple - my favorite has to be the part where they have a picnic and dance on the rain. Their first kiss. Hers and HIS. Yes, our Creigh has devious tendencies towards women but it’s all control and inflicting pain. Kissing wasn’t something he wanted to do but with Anni it was all he wanted.

The ways they fell so comfortably into a relationship. He didn’t fight it after realizing she was good for him. He didn’t feel like she was trying to change him. They did have tough moments when he opened up his past, but they got through it. His custom-made purple diamond necklace for his birthday! The kitten she was taking care of being her next gift as he it for her! Argh bless him.
The scene where he claims her in front of everyone was amazing. He tells them they have gone on dates and can't help but touch her for everyone to see then kisses her so they know she is his.
''She's mine. if I find out either of you touched her, prepare to lose a limb''
The spice – listen this was top notch. It was amazing and made me blush way too many times.
''You're the only one I want. Everyone else is just white noise.''
''He treats me like a princess in public and his custom-made whore in private.''
I knew that his past had to be related to the Mafia, but I was sure that he was probably part of the Irish Mafia or something and never did I imagine his father was Richard – the candidate that was in the pocket of the Mafia and who also took advantage of helpless and one day decided to attach and try to sexually assault Lia which caused his death certificate. His wife (Creigh’s mother) was even more in deep shit. She was in cahoots with her husband in such a disturbing way that when he died, she was left to deal with the aftermath and decided to kill herself by hanging and kill 3-year-old Creigh by gas. He got away. He remembers ALL of the events of that night – seeing his mother hanging, all of it haunts him and he wants revenge.
When he finds out about Annika’s parents being connected to his childhood trauma, he wants to take matters into his own hands and avenge not his parents who considers to be trash but avenge the 3-year-old little helpless boy who was shaped by what happened.
I do not think ANYBODY will see that twist coming, I also do not think anybody will see the events that transpired after he confronted Jeremy. He basically goes off and just wants it all to end, knowing he can’t have Anni after the truth is revealed is devastating, he wants to die, and he provoked an Anni who has a gun (we find out before that she has excellent aim and never misses) she comes flying down to the basement where Landon has kidnapped Nikolai and lured in Jeremy.
She is forced and provoked to shoot Creigh – yes, you read that right. She SHOOTS him right in the chest to save her brother who he stabbed in the arm. Creigh did it to make it all end and die.
As she never misses, she doesn’t hit his heart and he recover but she is ousted by his family and friends and Adrian my darling comes to the UK to take her away. Where he has a showdown with Aiden. I know Aiden is a psycho, but Adrian is worse in my eyes. In a fight who would win? For me it’s Adrian no doubt.
Creighton telling Eli what she means to him before coming up with his plan:
''I like spending time with her. She's the light I never thought I needed and the one person who can fill up the hollowness.''
Anni goes back to NYC and it’s a month until she sees him again where he enlists the help of Cecily to lure her away and kidnap her (Cecily did not know about the kidnapping plan). Takes her to the island owned by his grandfather and they spend weeks together. He wants her to pick him and choose him in the moments he believes she would always choose her family. Their relationship is severely strained and suffers because of the darkness looming over them.
Adrian AGAIN shows up (never stop showing up) and is determined to hurt/kill Creigh for kidnapping his daughter and harming her. Anni finally realizing at that moment that all Creigh wanted was to know he would once be chosen over what she knows, and loves decides to take matters into her own hands and point the gun to herself and threaten death. Creigh admits he loves her, and she ever dies he would follow right after (dramatic in reality but in books it’s what we want to hear lol).

She finally relents and Adrian finally agrees to take them both away and not cause harm. I loved seeing Creigh rile up Adrian the way Yan does. Threatening him that he will marry Anni and give him grandkids- a threat in the epilogue he tells Anni he will need to tell her that it will become a reality. So I guess they will be the first ones to get hitched maybe??
- We get great cameos from Yan and Kolya (loyal guards of Adrian and Lia’s).
- We do get Adrian and Lia (that's all I really asked for tbh)
- We don’t get to see Glyn and Killian a lot (which made me happy they didn’t take away from the story).
- We do not get anything from Mia which means nothing from her and Landon. Landon does cause a lot of problems though.
- We do get more moments from Brandon and Nikolai – especially in the basement.
- We do get Eli and Ava moments – Ava mostly hating him lol and Eli being a incredibly big brother.
- We do get scenes with Aiden and Elsa (including Jonathan, Agnus, and Ethan).
- We do get Jeremy and Cecily crumbs <<<< This has to be the next couple. The epilogue has Cecily try to tell Anni something in secret but gets interrupted by Creigh. She was spooked. I should mention that when she helped Creighton get Annika, she had to face the wrath of Jeremy, and something had to have happened – also it is again stated that she sneaks out in the middle of the night. Where is she going??
Overall as you can tell I loved this. I wish I hadn't finished it so quickly but it's been such an incredible journey.
Can't wait to see which couple is next in God of Wrath!

It physically pained me to read the second half of the book — pun intended.
The first half gave me everything I wanted. The grumpy sunshine was scrumptious got me licking my fingers blushing giggling kicking my feet- EVERYTHING. But the second half was a shit show. There was no clear aim in the ‘plot’ and it was so chaotic argh I’m so fuckinggggg disappointed 😭 Rina u deserve jail for doing that to one of my fav couples.
Rina needs to leave the parents and grandparents as the MCs of their own book. Like tf are you doing giving them more importance than the main characters?!
I’m so pissed off.
The only redeeming quality of this book was the EliAva Landon and NikoBran crumbs.
Landon being a little shit and causing trouble every day of the week had me giggling. The group chats were hilarious. Def one of the things that saved the book.
I loved how everyone doted on Creighton tho KAHDJDHD it’s the cutest shit ever. When they get jealous over who he spends time with 🤧💞 Eli and landon being clingy mofos makes me so happy and giddy they’re ADORABLE 🥹

This review contains some spoilers, but I think this book isn't that worthy of your time, so feel free to see my honest opinion.
What a nightmare. When I saw the arc team saying that this book has so much pain I was waiting for something sad and heartbreaking, not pathetic and boring.
I had high expectations for God of Pain, and I'm not trying to be a bitch, but Rina pretty please stop writing. You don't need to write 3 books per year, because you're doing a shit job. I can not believe this woman wrote AdrianLia.
I gonna write an essay, because I have various points that I hated.
Let's start with Creighton and Annika's relationship, I liked so much the start of the book, but so in the half, Rina just stopped and the book keep being the same, with so many unnecessary scenes with their boring and stressful friends (read Remi the king of being annoying, Cecily the girl who doesn't have a personality, Landon who keep trying so hard to be a bad boy, etc). Yeah, we get some cute moments between Creighton and Annika, but I didn't understand how they love each other.
Now the kink, what are the dark and violent tendencies of Creigh? In the scene with Landon we see some more dark shit, but with Annika the only thing he does is slap her ass. Oh Creigh, so dark and violent, gonna slap Annika's ass (scary AF). Really, Rina? You do all the promotion of the book about Creigh being dark and we get just some ropes??? Not even a candle or knife. NOTHING. This isn't a kink book in any way.
I'm having nightmares about all the bad boys' images that Rina wants to pass. Like, what do they do that they're so bad? My five-month-old dog is worse than them. Like, Creigh wants revenge and he just stabs Jeremy's arm. AND THE WORST, "the" Jeremy Volkov just goes for a trap and enters without a gun. The part Nikolai tries to kill himself had more violence than the Elite pathetic attempt at kidnapping.
I'm annoyed with all the talk of they're psychopaths, crazy boys, the devil, so scary, and keep going the list of references Rina made of her boys (by her girls who did grow with them but are like little cats scared) and they're just kids playing of being mafiosos. I don't believe Annika is the only person in this kidnap scene with a gun. THE ONLY, THE PURPLE GIRL IS THE ONLY PERSON WITH A GUN (IN A ROOM WITH PSYCHOPATHS).
I gonna even talk about the fiasco that Rina made of that shot, It was not that deep. I laugh all the scene, because really? She was protecting her brother (the guy who always was in her life) from the guy who "loved" her and almost killed her brother because of his petty revenge. And I say petty because he had a family who loved him (and he has been dumb enough to risk his family's life, because Adrian definitely wasn't letting this go) for the fact he had some hard time? And let's remember that the family who loved him had him because of Adrian.
But if you ask what made me drop my note to 2 stars, I gonna say, the kidnapping. Fuck, Creighton just decided to kidnap Annika of her family because of his petty jealousy (how can Annika save her brother and not choose his revenge on behalf of a rapist), and they just keep fucking for one week before Rina changes the song and Annika try to kill herself (nonsense again, we don't have a construction, is just one day she's all smiles and talking and good and the next she's like "I gonna kill myself because I cannot live with who you're now...".
But the most laughable part of the kidnapping? Creighton thinks Adrian doesn't gonna find them. Bro, you're on your grandpa's island, not on another planet.
I'm really sad and annoyed with all the universe, the second generation is honestly a bunch of spoiled rich kids who Rina is trying to force mental illness (like Annika saying she has OCD, I have OCD and this isn't OCD bitch) to justify the bad behavior ( and they look like toddlers doing pranks).
So why I gave it two stars? The family's scenes (like Eli and Creigh). I hope Rina stops trying so hard to make the image of her characters and learns to pass them by actions.

this book–but also this series–feels like beautiful 2.0, you know the tv show that has been being streamed since 1987 and has like 9000 episodes? yep, that one! my grandma is obsessed, always watched it and always will. anyway, that tv show has the same amount of drama and family crossovers as this series. i seriously need a map of the family tree bc i’m genuinely confused.
i didn’t like this book as much as the first one.
idk why but killian stays on top, even tho cray cray is less problematic and almost normal, i might add. anoushka is less annoying than glyn in many ways but more annoying in others. sometimes i couldn’t stand her at all.
anyway, i think the main reason why i didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one, is bc my interest was focused on jer and cecily. i’m so curious about them that i wanted to be over with this book so i could read the third one. watch me being disappointed lol
overall, this could be considered as a decent read.
the plot is actually a plot (shocker) and not a joke like most dark romances. however, the smut was kinda boring imo, maybe bc i’m not a fan of the dom/sub trope–no scratch that. actually, i fucking hate it. it’s always so repetitive that it bores the hell out of me. i really should start reading the synopsis before starting a book.

Creighton’s (20) a silent grump, one who doesn’t socialize as much or have social media. He barely even talks. He was adopted by King Aiden 🥰 and Elsa when he was 3, yet he still has emotional scars from those traumatic years he was with his birth parents. He’s obsessed with eating and sleeping, until he starts to look at Annika in a different way 👀.
Annika’s (17/18) had a bubbly personality all her life and tries to be positive. She sees Creighton deeper than his stony exterior. She befriends his family/close friends, yet feels hesitant when it comes to him. It doesn’t help that she has an over protective family and that he’s part of a group that are rivals to her flesh and blood 😬.
So what happens when they can’t help but want each other? 😅
What I loved/liked (possible spoilers):
—how O B S E S S E D Creighton quickly becomes. Not only that, but he becomes OTT JP about it. She can’t even say a dead man’s name 🤣. When the fake dating comes up, he’s ready to un alive people 👀 and don’t get me started on him prohibiting her from watching p0rn 😅. I’ll give him extra brownie points for being a man who doesn’t need to watch it 🥹 don’t tell me that’s not swoony 🥰💁🏻♀️. This man even gets jealous of a cat… like, a C A T that says meow 🤣😅. Sigh.
—the 🔥 scenes. Phew. There’s a lot of them 😉. I’m a h o o o a r for against the wall scenes. Body meets the wall= me watching closely👀, and we get many that helped satisfy me 😮💨. We even get car scenes, an in-the-air scene (I love it when a man is strong enough to be able to do this), and my favorite: sit down so I can eat dessert 😅. I will never look at chocolate ice cream the same 😉🥵.

He rescues a cat just because Anni wanted him. He has a big heart but doesn’t always show it
—AIDEN!!! Omg. I was totally fan girling over here. Aiden motha f ing King was such a tall drink of water to read for my thirsty a$$ 🤤. After all these decades, he’s still so in love with Elsa 🥹🥰. And Elsa’s pure love for Creighton even though he’s adopted had me bawling 😩. I’m probably biased since I love their trilogy, but Jesus. My heart couldn’t handle their chapters. I was giddy and swooning and just in love lol. It takes their HEA to another level AND I AM HERE FOR IT ALL 😮💨

When Jonathan reread the texts from Agnus I was crying 🤣🤣🤣. On the flip side, the irrational jealousy felt for Yan was comedic relief. Not only does Adrian feel jealous but so does Creighton 😅. And we also have Remi’s lordship to laugh about
—the face off between Daddy Aiden 👀 and Daddy Adrian 😅. This was juicy AS F 😅

Absolutely loved it! Sat down and ate all 470 pages in one sitting, lol. Well written and super gripping with a ton of suspense and twists you'll never see coming. The chemistry between them scorches you with the intensity, but it's all the little things in their relationship that will fill you up inside. The character and relationship development is phenomenal. Absolutely loved Annika with her propensity to talk too much and avoid conflict, all while trying to manage her OCD. She is truly a beautiful soul, wanting to see the best in everyone. She's fascinated by Creighton and drags him almost kicking and screaming into a relationship. I love how Creighton seems confused and almost overwhelmed about the how and why of his fascination and obsession with Annika. How he eats the nasty food she cooks for him, lol. How seeing her sad twists places he didn't know he has. Overall, a really fantastic read in what's turning out to be an outstanding next gen series. Just enough of the parents to whet your appetite without making it about them.

I love how Creighton seems confused and almost overwhelmed about the how and why of his fascination and obsession with Annika. How he eats the nasty food she cooks for him, lol. How seeing her sad twists places he didn't know he has. Overall, a really fantastic read in what's turning out to be an outstanding next gen series. Just enough of the parents to whet your appetite without making it about them.

Sooooooo I don’t think Creighton is better than Killian…
but at least his book was…
𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
It’s a little hard to explain what this book is about because the whole plot revolves around Creighton and Annika trying to navigate the turbulent waters of what their relationship would be and how it would work out, given who their families are. Annika is a Mafia princess and started university early at 17 to see if she would like it more than being a ballerina. When allowed to by her overprotective brother, she rooms with a bunch of girls (who all happen to be the FMCs of the Legacy of the Gods series). However, the one certain thing is that her father will eventually arrange her marriage to someone who will strengthen his connections in the Mafia... unless she can find someone to fall in love with. Her mother has said she won’t force her to marry someone if she is in love with someone else. In steps Creighton, who happens to tag along whenever the girls hang out basically, and all Annika wants to do is chip through his hard exterior, get him to smile and speak to her. But underneath it all, Creighton has a dark, twisted past that has shaped him into the man he is today... and all he wants is revenge on the person who made him this way...
𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
Annika was pretty annoying at times, and I’m not sure if it was because she was 17, because she was so preppy and bubbly, or if she was just too stupid to live at times. She puts herself into idiotic situations, and for someone who is meant to be quite intelligent, it got a little annoying. I still preferred her to Glyndon, though. I did like that she matured quite a bit through the progression of the book. I also love that she’s such a believer and so steadfast in her morals and beliefs. She stands up for what she believes in, and nothing and nobody, not even the threat of death, is going to persuade her otherwise. I like that she stood up for who she was and what she wanted, and challenged some very dangerous men in her life to get it.
Creighton is the silent observer of the group. He sleeps 90% of the time, eats 5% of the time, and makes grunting noises the remainder of the time. He is scary and sadistic (And I mean that LITERALLY because I did not expect him to be into BDSM... with a mindset of wanting to break Annika and then give her ridiculous pleasure BUT THAT IS EXACTLY WHO HE IS). He is cold and empty, with a thirst for revenge on the demons that took away his innocence when he was a little boy left for dead. He has a darkness that makes him absolutely terrifying, and he is very guarded; honestly, not letting anybody in to see who he is underneath that exterior—except Annika eventually. He is everything you hope for and dream of when you imagine someone who is obsessive and possessive, taking "touch-her-and-you-die" to a whole new level. He goes absolutely feral if anything threatens to take away what’s his. He is super jealous of any other males Annika gives attention to, (because what is his, is his) and when he says something is mine, nothing can stand in his way.
The plot was ridiculous, full of drama, action, and plot twists that I didn’t see coming, with a lot more spiciness than I expected compared to God of Wrath. I liked the presence of the other characters, and I think this one has solidified my desire to continue in the Legacy of Gods series, to see what’s going on with Jeremy and see what happens with Eli and Ava... and generally see what other ridiculous and unbelievable things these "basically-kids" get up to.

I rarely HATE the FMC. Sure sometimes she will have a TSTL quality and that's funny or gives a "well yeah what did ya think was gonna happen". But Anika. Oh man. Don't know where to start. I HATED her. I don't know anything about her except that she loves pain. And her papa.
Creighton is a sweetie pie and sugar plum, and I love him. I wish the story had them exploring their desires more, instead we get this shoved into our throats: the fact that they kind of stumble into each other, a perfect S-M match. I mean, only in novels, right?
Anyways, 3.5 stars rounded down and the audio narration is 🤌
