He’s everything she’s never had. She’s everything he didn’t know he needed.

Having lost her parents at a young age, raised by her beloved uncle, Michele King is now a successful business owner, providing meals for people by day and getting lost in books each night. A somewhat lonely life…which she attempts to remedy by dating a man she met online. It only takes a few dates before she sees red flags. Breaking things off with a man she barely knows should be easy. But he’s not taking no for an answer.

Declan James moved to small-town Lindeman, Idaho, to be near his former Delta Force teammates, men he considers his brothers. His focus should be on their new business, Mercy Ring, a boxing club specializing in giving locals—especially kids—a safe place to exorcise their anger and aggression. But instead, he finds his mind stuck on a certain shy local. Quiet and reserved, Michele is the polar opposite of the women he’s dated. And he can’t get her out of his head.

He's happy to get to know Michele at her own slow pace…until danger rears its head in the form of an angry ex. Now, Declan has no choice but to stay close, if he doesn’t want their fledgling relationship to end before it’s barely begun.

This was my first read by this author and I liked it. Declan (H) is former military and operating a boxing gym with some of his former team members. Michele (h), a friend of one of those team members and the BFF of one of the other's girlfriends, has her own meal delivery service and has caught Declan's eye. The interest is returned, but Michele is dealing with a date who's turned scary and some other concerns. There's also a serial killer threatening the surrounding area and an angry, teenage employee of Michele's in need. There are references to the events of book 1 and this book does jump right in with these characters, but this book does standalone well and provides enough background to not be confused. Written in third person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither are virgins (it's mentioned h is not H's usual type but I don't recall any other history; h had disappointing partners who'd never gotten her "there" before).

I found this book to be very predictable, but in a comforting way. I think because some of my more recent reads took darkish turns I wasn't expecting as much, figuring out where this one was going kept my interest chugging along and my anxiety low, even when suspense was high. I loved how protective and caring Declan was and how he also had a couple of jealousy scenes. He was competent, but not perfect. Michele was a relatable character with a deep love of books, compassionate, and likable. Plus, she has a Great Dane she rescued and dog people are my people. I especially liked these two together with how easy their interest flowed into the start of a relationship as Declan took an active role in protecting her from the stalkerish former date. The steaminess was well written between these two and the emotional side of their relationship felt believable. Both of them were also only focused on each other romantically.

The setup of this series includes a big friend group and bits of breadcrumbs for who some of the members may be paired with. Also, hints of backstories of the other former military members to help differentiate them. The teenaged employee of Michele's that she and Declan take under their wing was a sympathetic character, who I'm also curious if he'll grow through the series. Other members of their small town pop up too, along with Michele's uncle.

The plot of this book does have quite a bit of suspense and some violence. Run-ins with bad guys were high tension and there are multiple points of danger involved (super vague, I know). Both Michele and Declan are injured at various points. The main characters end up involved with the FBI because of the overall search for the serial killer and some of the scenes involving the FBI were less believable for me personally. The way that Michele responds to the danger of the situations she finds herself in also felt contrived at times. She's lost family members before and her uncle has a heart condition so there is a point where she pulls back to avoid suffering more loss. While it doesn't last long, the set-up for that plot point didn't work as well for me. Some of Declan's ability to swoop in to protect her was also sometimes too easy, I had trouble imagining the town being so close together.

Michele and Declan do survive the dangers thrown at them and the book ends on a HFN, with a lead-in to the next book. Book 1's H and h were active throughout this book as side characters so I anticipate the same thing will happen throughout the series. Hopefully by the end of the series there'll be a more extended HEA for all of the couples. I'm curious about checking out more of this author's books.

Declan is book two in the Mercy Ring series by Nyssa Kathryn. After leaving the military, Delcan James moved to Lindeman, Washington, to partner with his former Delta teammates in a boxing business specialising in children who need an outlet for their anger. Delcan James, on arrival in town, meets Michele King, the best friend of one of his teammate's sisters. Michele King was too busy working on her new business to take any notice of him. However, this changed when Michele King was threatened by her ex-boyfriend. The readers of Declan will continue to follow Michele and Declan to discover what happens.

Declan is the second book I have read of Nyssa Kathryn, and I enjoyed reading this book. I like Nyssa Kathryn's writing style, which ensures I engage with her stories from the first page. I love Nyssa Kathryn's portrayal of her characters and how they interact throughout this book. Declan is well-written and researched by Nyssa Kathryn. I like Nyssa Kathryn's description of Declan's settings, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

The readers of Declan will understand the other benefits for young people who become part of a boxing gym. Also, the readers of Declan will learn about the problems of child abuse and neglect.

I recommend this book.

What an excellent addition to the Mercy Ring Series.

Declan and Michelle's story was delightful. You put together an introverted heroine and a protector alpha hero, and I can assure you the result is a bunch of warm hearts.

Unlike River and Jackson, Declan and Chelle brought a calming love story. There was something soothing about their feelings that spoke to me.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good, explosion love like Jackson and River's. But Chelle and Declan's was her own kind of beautiful. There was so much love and respect between them; so much acceptance and devotion.
As obstacles progressed and intruded into their lives, their connection and love were a peaceful presence, reminding them both they weren't alone. Their relationship strengthened them without fanfare. It just happened.

Their story was absolutely adorable and it was exactly what they deserved.

***

"Fine. You can walk me to Mercy Ring. But no scolding me for almost getting in the middle of a fistfight this morning, and no talk of Tim or the serial killer. You can talk about how pretty I am and how good my cooking is. Deal?"

***

Perfect! It’s so good and I’m so surprised …
Mistery and suspense romance it’s never my cup and I don’t remember any book I’ve read like that but this is really good!
Very romantic
Safe
Former military Easygoing H
Very shy heroine but independent woman

Ah! So romantic and the plot is extremely interesting with a serial killer on the hunt!!!
H is all in from the last book and in this one he is just so sweet,
Possible triggers about some violence, foster home traumas and domestic abuse, not between the main couple!

Declan’s story was fantastic!

After reading book one we go titbits about Michele and Declan. I was intrigued to know what she was holding back about the ex. As well as dying to know what happens with her and Declan. That still didn’t prepare me for what happens in this story. I didn’t see any of this coming!

This book had it all! It was packed with danger, suspense, action, mystery and steamy moments. I’m so looking forward to what comes next in this series.

This story was so suspenseful that I could barely put it down.
Delcan is so smitten with Michelle he can’t keep his eyes off her. But she is shy and loves being alone so much that she doesn’t date much at all.

“Always. That’s the number one rule for any good romance book. There always has to be a happy ending.”

A ghost of a smile touched his lips. “And that’s what makes a happy ending? Two people ending up together?”

When she is in danger Delcan takes it upon himself to be her protector and draw them closer together.

These alpha ex soldiers are to die for. Sweet but strong woman and a storyline so amazing that it deserves ten stars!!

I loved these two together!!! I really liked Michele in the first book and can appreciate the introvert part of her character. I liked how they got to know each other and how gentle Declan was in how he approached her. It was like he saw her and all the aspects of her. I kept waiting for the twist at the end of the book and I was not disappointed with how that played out (and really annoyed that I didn't figure it out, lol). Great story and another fantastic book in this series.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Really liked this one. The series has been great so far and the make leads are fantastic. I did like Michele’s kind soul in this one. There were few things I felt were a bit dramatic but overall, a good story.

Declan and Michele are the definition of fate. Their chemistry and connection is off the charts and Declan will make you swoon hardcore here. He is so protective over those he loves and his love for her is instantaneous and he moves mountains for her is so many ways. I was so surprised by the twist in the plot for this book and it added the perfect layer of action to the story that kept you on the edge of your seats. I do wish that this book was written in the first person so we could have more from both of their points of view.

When an ex turned stalker leads her to an expected happiness…

I do believe this is a good indication, I devoured this book in a few hours, even while working.
Michele and Declan are so sweet together.
Is it his endearments or her cooking, still this is a delicious tale.
Declan from the beginning is set on winning his lady’s heart. At her own pace.
They are only in the early stage of just exchanging a few words when he learns about the stalker making her life a nightmare.
From there, it is his opportunity to at the same time protect her then get to know her.
And while he is on the alpha side of the male scale, he is considerate, allowing her space and time to think about them.
Michelle is more uncertain, she until Declan never felt the « zing » he awakens with any other man, yet she is not one to rush thing. So when her world appears to crumble down around her, and Declan steps in, she has to weight the rightness of letting someone new into her heart and the price it might come with.

With this second adventure about retired soldiers and the ladies who make them go beyond their limits, the author grants us a sweet sensual story.

Mercy me!! Declan and Michele had me in tears.

DECLAN is book two in Author Nyssa Kathryn’s Mercy Ring series and as with all of her books, it’s hard not to sound repetitive when it comes to review writing and how awesome they truly are. Declan and Michele made amazing characters who both complemented and brought out the best in each other.

Michele’s dating life reflected the issues that all young ladies have to contend with today – online dating. And even though women of my generation were taught and passed onto our children the subject of stranger-danger, meeting strangers after conversing online is staying with us. She discovered the online persona didn’t match with reality and even thought she castigated herself afterwards, she called it quits. Unfortunately it didn’t stop there.

Ms Kathryn really ramped up the angst on this one and there were moment of tears.

Declan was a gorgeous alpha, never thinking he needed love or permanency, but he found it anyway. He met Michele the ‘old-fashioned’ way, through friends Jackson and River from book one, JACKSON. It’s not necessary to start there, but you’ll definitely enjoy the series more by seeing the characters and relationships develop as the timeline moves on.

Mercy Ring is not more of the same in regards to her super-soldiers series that I also love so much. We get the same quality of writing and book plots, and while her heroes are still former military, these guys are not in security but own a boxing club. I loved that a prominent secondary character showed up as a hard hit angry young man who needed a second chance was given just that through Michele in her business, and Declan through the Mercy Ring gym. The whole premise of this series is around these ex-team members made permanent brothers and is one that everyone who loves this kind of genre needs to be reading.

Hell’s teeth, I’m starting to repeat myself!!! Guaranteed you’ll become as addicted to Ms Kathryn’s books as I am. 5-All-Action-Suspense-Stars ✯🥊☆

Finally getting Declan and Michele’s story! It was everything that I wanted it to be and more! When we first saw a hint of their mutual attraction in the first book of the series I couldn’t wait to see how their book was going to unfold. I couldn’t wait to dig into each characters backstory and see how their lives are going to weave together in this beautiful way. God bless Michele she is this quiet shy women who is a steadfast friend who once she is in your corner she is there for life. She has a small group of friends and family that she is close with so when Ryker & Jackson’s Delta brothers come into town she slowly begins to fold them into her life. Declan’s pull and attraction that he has for Michele he has felt from the first time he lays eyes on her. He wants to do anything that he can to protect her and keep her safe. They just start out as friends and try to deny the attraction but when the ex boyfriend starts to bother her the alpha male Delta force side of him goes into overdrive and is going to do everything to protect her. As the story continues to unfold and they become closer she begins to loosen up and they have this banter that is so fun. She becomes this sassy person which is so amazing to she. Once things get more intense and the stakes get higher they get everything thrown at them and become even closer and better than when they started. I’m so happy that it all worked out and they found their happily ever after. I love seeing how all the team is integrated into they’re new lives in town with the new gym and the new couples. The banter between the guys is so great, just like a bunch of brothers. It is just so great, I can not wait to see Cole’s book.

And we have another winner!!!!! This book was amazing. I know I say that about them all, but it’s true. Out of all the books I’ve read by Nyssa, Declan and Michele are one of my top favorite couples. They have wonderful chemistry and totally complete each other. The story is loaded with excitement, danger, romance, and steam and the things Declan says to Michele are just sooo swoon-worthy. You cannot help but cheer for this couple and their HEA. The other characters, the intrigue, the mystery, the friendships, the dialogue – it all comes together to create a beautifully woven story that will hold you in suspense from beginning to end. I literally read it in 2 ½ hours; I just could not stop. I had to know how it ended or I knew I’d be thinking about it all night.

Declan was an amazing character who was very watchful and protective and supportive of Michele. Even when things turned bad and she needed space or just needed to know he was there – he was step in step with her all the way. Michele was painfully introverted, shy yet friendly, and a definite people pleaser – she hated to say no to someone and feel like she was letting them down in some way. Of course, this got her into trouble more than once but with Declan at her side she became more confident in herself and started learning to set more boundaries. I loved when she finally found her strength. I also enjoyed the friend/family dynamics with the rest of the characters – by blood or not, they were family and stuck together and their teasing and humor with each other even in bad circumstances showed the strong bonds between them all. I am so looking forward to Cole’s story next.

I love misses writing and I'm gobbling up every book that's inevitable.
It's nice to connect the Erik that appears in Jacksons and Declan's book as the Erik in his own story, Eric's salvation.
In this book, the mystery was out there for me to grab And the angst was all in the waiting for the culprit to make his move. Nisa threw in a few side characters that led me off the beaten track. But I soon returned.
The pace moved along quite nicely with the romance blooming in the beginning. And then the plot thickening with the mystery. It was also nice to hear of Jackson and river and a few other characters in the team.
I particularly smiled at the twist. As I did not see that coming at all.
Although the h was rather quiet and introverted with a strong loyalty for her friends, which mainly is River, she seemed to find her backbone when it was need and turned out to be quite strong and a determined woman.
The H was a typical alpha Ex Delta force operator. The Business the boys set up was perfect and fell into a really good rhythm for their way of life.
There were the love scenes, the romance, the Frendship and light comedy.
All in all it was an enjoyable listen.
I especially enjoy Tim's narration and as for Stella. I have listened to her hundreds of times before and I cannot help but feel I'm listening to another author that has the same genre.
She uses her tone and inflexions really well and brings the characters out to life in the plot line.
Great story, great characters, Nisa did well here. Thanks for a great listen.

A bit bleak. How many bad things can happen to one person?

Firstly I’ve read a few of this authors books, and I do find them a bit hit and miss. This book started out really well, but it got really ridiculous in the end.

Michele is River’s best friend, who is very shy and timid, and likes reading historical romances. She’s had a very hard life as her mum died when Michele was a child, from cancer, and her dad died not long after from a heart attack. Her Uncle brought her up and he also has a heart attack later on. She’s being stalked by a man she dated three times, and shes attacked by a stranger when she mistakes him for someone else. Then something else really bad starts to happen to her. It’s just too much! I found it a bit depressing and a bit ludicrous that one woman could have so many bad things happen to her.

Declan is Jackson’s former team mate and co owner of the boxing gym. As Declan gets to know Michele, he really likes her, but Michele is really shy at first. When he finds out that Michele is being stalked, Declan and his team mates step up to help her. Declan is the polar opposite of Michele. He’s funny and light hearted and doesn’t take life too seriously. He’s really caring towards Michele, and I loved how he looked after her. I wasn’t that keen on Michele in the first book as she’s very scared of everything and likes staying in and reading or cooking. She didn’t really grow on me in this book either.

Declan and Michele

This was probably my favorite Nyssa Kathryn book to date. I related to Michele’s character so much and Declan was the ultimate book boyfriend. It was the perfect follow up to Jackson and a great addition to the Mercy Ring series.

Declan and Michele had a very calming romance, which was necessary because the things happening around them were anything but calm. Michele was a quiet introvert who had lost a lot in her life. She was being stalked by an ex and her world seemed to be crumbling around her. Declan was just the partner she needed. He calmed her nerves, stood by her side, an protected her. Declan understood Michele in a way she’d never experienced. He was all in from the beginning, but let everything progress at Michele’s pace. He may not have always liked her decisions, but he let Michele have the freedom to make them.

I loved the addition of Anthony to the story. Michele connected with the teen because of their shared experience with loss and Declan and his team took him under their wings and taught him to have a safe outlet for his anger.

This was a great read, and although I had my suspicions from the beginning, the suspense really drove this book. Declan and Michele’s easy romance brought a cozy feeling to a heart pounding story. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next, especially since it seems Cole is next!

This series is shaping up to be just as fantastic as the other books by this author. Declan’s got it bad for Michele. But she’s afraid to live. To love. To lose. And she’s incredibly nervous around the most gorgeous man she’s ever met. So much so that she’s pretty sure he’s just toying with her…or so she tries to convince herself in her weaker moments. But danger is hot on her heels, so she has no choice but to accept Declan’s help, especially when he’s the man she calls when things just seem 100% wrong around her. So now they have to figure out how to survive, who is truly behind the danger, and if they’re able to make their attraction work long term.

I found that I truly enjoyed the possibilities here. Is it Anthony? He’s clearly hiding things. Is it the ex who won’t let go? Or is it someone completely overlooked? And once it all seems safe, maybe it isn’t really. But Michele is nothing if not determined to live, and Declan is nothing if not determined to love. So these two maybe save themselves and each other at the same time. And along the way, we spend more time with the rest of this group and I now have Cole and his story to look forward to!

This talented author delivers another engaging story in this series. A series about former Delta Force elite soldiers, that have created a boxing arena for those needing to exorcise their demons and aggressions.
One of these elite soldiers is Declan James.
While his original intend was to spend time with his teammates while working at Mercy Ring, he never expected to be drawn to quiet and sweet Michele King. A woman different from the women he favors.
Michele owns a home catering company and from afar, has been drawn to Declan. As they slowly start their relationship, it isn’t till a man she rejected starts to threaten her, that Declan is determined to become her bodyguard.
Things heat up in their relationship and the danger .
Will Michele survive the danger? Will Declan be able to keep her safe?
The plot catches your attention from the first page to the last. The main characters are complex and likable and you’ll enjoy spending time with the rest of the teammates.
The only downside, the readers will have to wait a few months to get the story of Cole, another of the teammates.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Hunky alpha protector meets the shy introvert and sparks fly. Through mutual friends, Declan and Michele get to know one another. Declan is immediately smitten, but the reticent Michele is wary wondering what a man like Declan could possibly see in someone as timid as her. But he soon wins her over only to discover she's being stalked by someone she'd gone on a few dates with. He does everything in his power to protect her.
As a serial killer uses the area around Lindeman as his personal playground, the danger Michele faces increases as secrets are revealed.
Michele is a mirror into my own introverted self. And Declan is, surprisingly, a big teddy bear. And who wouldn't want an alpha protective teddy bear as their very own? I love the way the pair accept each other as they are. He doesn't try to force her out of her comfort zone, and she doesn't try to curb his protective nature. They are perfect for each other. The addition of a teenager in need ramps up the story and keeps the secrets flowing. The plot twist at the end is excellent even if I did see it coming. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Suspense, Twist & Turns, Romance this book had it all!

As this is the 2nd book in this series and book I've read from this author I must say this book was a very intense book that had me not wanting to put it down it was that darn great. The storyline was full of suspense, steamy romance screens, & twists & turn too.

I just love these Delta Force crew who came together & turned the closed gym into a place people could come to. They offered a safe space for kids & adults & each Man has there own story to tell & I'm excited to know about each of them too.

Declan is a Man who knew what he wanted once he got hooked onto Michelle. And I just loved her character in this book. She reminds me of my best friend who also loves to cook & bake. Michelle definitely attracted the wiring kind of men in her life but when Declan walked into her personal space their story just had such a beautiful HEA even after all the crazy things that happened to them both in this story I'm happy for them. Declan is a true protector of those he cares about & this book is worth reading it's that great!

"Honey, with you, there's no changing my mind. Since the day I first laid eyes on you, I knew you were it. Not for now. Not for a while. Forever."

So... I licked Declan and now he's mine!! Lord have mercy that man is something else, just like I knew he would be! I have been waiting on pins and needles for this book ever since I finished Jackson, and oh my goodness I cannot wait to read it again and again! I have loved every single one of Ms. Kathryn's leading men, and I do mean every single one of them, but Declan...that man has me in a chokehold in the best of ways! He is by far my favorite leading man that Ms. Kathryn has given us so far! Gah, the things that come out of that man's mouth! It's no wonder that Michele fell so hard for that man! And Michele was just absolutely perfect for him! She was soft, sweet and timid to his strong, alpha male. And the story and plot were so well written that it had me turning pages as fast as I could. This book was just absolutely amazing! You need to read this series!

Holy moly is it hot in here or just me!? First of all, Michelle the lead female is totally relatable! Shy, introvert….loves book and loves to cook! And Declan….what an Alpha male but totally sweet and squidgy in the inside! They meet, as they would, through friends who have been through the ringer themselves, and we meet them through slow intro’s in previous stellar books by our fav author! Michele struggles to accept a real relationship, and to let love in. Declan is normally attracted to wilder louder females so the attraction simmers leaving the reader with a yearning of how a relationship could pan out. Then, Michelle gets stuck with an obsessed previous ex who isn’t getting the hint and Declan rises to be her knight in shining at armour. But unease creeps into her head as she realises multiple murders in the surrounding areas are drawing closer to her and similar to her age….Will she be safe? Is Declan someone she can put her trust in? Who will be the one to keep her safe and who is the maniac behind her stalker? Honestly, you won’t be let down in this page turner!

Declan is the second book in the Mercy Ring series by Nyssa Kathryn. This is Declan and Michele’s book.

We were introduced to Michele in the first book since she’s River’s best friend. She runs a meals on the go business and enjoys reading. Her parents died when she was young, and her uncle is sick with a heart problem. As a result, Michele is afraid to love anyone for fear of them leaving her. When the loneliness gets too much, Michele goes out with this guy she meets online who turns out to be not only a jerk but a creepy stalker as well.

Declan is one of the Delta teammates that has opened the new boxing ring with Jackson. He’s been attracted to Michele since the moment he saw her and has made it obvious that he’s interested. He’s a really great guy and is determined to get closer to Michele.

I liked the addition of Anthony and my heart hurt for his back story. I loved how Declan and the guys took an interest in him and gave him a safe place to stay.

I’m enjoying this series and like these characters.

Once again Nyssa Kathryn has left me with yet another fav book boyfriend and girl crush with Declan and Michele ❤️

Dec is fiercely protective of the introverted, book loving Chlele and the suspense and threat throughout keeps you guessing and turning page after page. I loved how their loved developed and how Dec's protective nature shined through as he supported Chele through all the twists and turns! Anthony is also a great addition and I hope we see more of him in future projects.

My only issue is with Nyssa Kathryn herself and I'll just say as a book loving introvert myself, what were you think with this line, "She lifted the book and folded the corner of the book..." REALLY, folded the corner of the book???? Nooooooooo 😵‍💫🤭🤣

Mercy Ring is definitely another fab series by Nyssa Kathryn and though I loved this one, something tells me the next one will mean Cole will weave his way into my heart as my next book boyfriend too! I can't wait 😉❤️

Talk about an adventure for poor Michele and Declan! This second book in the Mercy Ring series really packs a punch and has a great twist. Both Michele and Declan are terrific characters and well suited, their chemistry is red hot and their bond is one that was almost instantaneous. I like how some new characters pop in, especially Anthony who I think is a great addition to the crew.

I like how descriptive the scenes are and the emotive language used—always in the right scenes too. I like the fun expressions the author uses in the book, like this one for example that Michele thought, ‘…holy ham on a cracker…’ 😁 When the action and drama reach their crescendo in any of those momentous scenes I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what happens, talk about exciting! Fantastic plotting by the author.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Declan and am intrigued by the neighbour across the road who has caught Cole’s eye. 😉
