“I’m not there to make Nico fall in love with me. I’m there to ruin him.”
This was one of those books where you’re obsessively checking how much is left, because there’s just no way. There’s no way there’s 50% left because then ML Philpitt can (and likely will) rip our hearts to shreds before putting them back together. Della and Nico’s journey is spellbinding. Nico being the brooding underboss who refuses to marry, only to find Della, who would seemingly change that. Della’s secretiveness and mysterious nature captivates Nico, but as an underboss he should be much more careful.
Towards the end you forget of one specific thing, one thing that we know will come in the next books, one person who likely will throw a wrench in whatever carefully laid plan is put in place. I don’t want to experience it, because I just know the anxiety will hit me like a freight train.

The Hunt in Elusion by M.L. Philpitt is the fascinating, engrossing, gut-wrenching story of Nico and Della. She is coerced into a situation she wants no part of…Nico is the Underboss of his father….they meet and she doesn’t divulge her identity. But, BOTH have secrets…both have other things that infringe on them….
There’s so much danger, intrigue, secrets, twists, shocks, and tons of steam!!! I LOVED this story….LOVED the characters….and LOVED the secondary characters. The story line had me totally engaged and completely enthralled!!! What a read!!!

Holy moly this was a hell of a way to start a series. For someone who said they’ve never written a mafia book before, you could have fooled me!! I freaking loved this story. I'm not a huge fan of mafia books, but this was done so well. You don't need a lot of experience with the mafia genre in order to enjoy this. Also, Nico muthatruckin Corsetti can GET IT. This was a Cinderella inspired story, and you could tell, but it wasn’t so obvious that it was boring. It was the opposite. The kink in this was top tier. What a hell of a way to start off the new year!

I loved this book. It had both plot & really, really good spice🥵 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼 is a dark & broody alphahole, who can have any woman he wants. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 is a strong woman, who takes anything that comes her way to survive & isn’t afraid to speak her mind or push 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼’𝘀 buttons. I highly recommend reading this, it’s perfect for you dark/Mafia romance lovers🖤 Coming 10th January 2023!!

Book 1 - First book of the year, and it has set the standard high OMFG it was amazing. It has everything from twists and turns to being absolutely filthy. I love my fairy tales, and this one did not disappoint it was the first book by this author that I have read, and I gotta tell ya I'm going back for more.

A dark mafia retelling of Cinderella complete with the requisite ugly step sisters as Della must fulfil the machinations of her evil step father if she is to protect not only herself but her vulnerable sister from his wrath. His plan is for her to seduce mafia underboss Nico Corsetti and deliver him into his hands. Nico is under pressure from his father to marry advantageously and possibly strengthen their family ties with another mafia family but when he spots Della at party held specifically to find him a bride, as the only woman there not paying him any attention he is instantly intrigued. But Nico is no foppish Prince Charming. He’s a dark and broody all alpha anti hero who takes what he wants and what he wants right now is Della willing or not.
The Hunt In Elusion has a fantastic storyline full of twists and turns with strong characters who have plenty of steam and chemistry between them. There is some slight dubious consent between the hero and heroine but for Nico the chase is half the fun as he encourages his little mouse to run just so can have the pleasure of hunting her down and unearthing all of Della’s secrets in the process. This story does end on a semi cliffhanger in so much as the plot line isn’t concluded but after the brief introduction of Nico’s sister Aurora at the end of this book I can’t wait for the next book in the Fractured Ever Afters series.

It’s a fractured fairytale inspired by Cinderella, taking place in my hometown (Montreal 🇨🇦).
Nico Corsetti, the underboss of the town’s eading mafia family, is everything but a nice man. He’s dominating, rough, violent and above all… he likes to hunt 😏
Della, is one strong and smart young woman who would do anything and everything for the ones she loves, and nothing will stop her.
I’ve devoured this book! It was such a thrilling ride, such a rush! The pace was just right and the spice… hølÿ hēll…! Let’s say that I needed a cold shower… or two😮💨

The Hunt in Elusion is book one in the Fractured Ever Afters and is a dark mafia Cinderella retelling. Nico and Della are phenomenal characters in this book. This book has me in the edge of my seat throughout and my heart racing. There are secrets, revelations, twists and turns that are out of this world. I can t wait to see what's next. I just know I'm going to love it.

Totally loved this book. I loved Della as she was one strong kick butt woman. Nico, is a true mafia boss but you could see that he had a soft side as well. So many twists and turns to really keep the reader flipping pages until the end. Can’t wait for the next installment! I received an advanced copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

“fairy tales depict the prince only being the good guy, but sometimes, it’s the villain who becomes that for us.”
this book was a fairytale in every sense of the word, so i can't fault it for being too on the nose on some occasions; it was exactly what it promised to be. albeit a bit cringy at times, i still appreciated all the classic "disney" references with the characters' names and their backgrounds, setting up future books and allowing the readers to connect and theorize about how each princess' story will be retold. my only wish was for the mafia elements to be more pronounced and detailed. hopefully, this enchanted criminal underworld will be developed as the series grows.

Bringing out things in her she didn’t even know she liked with that dirty mouth of his.
I devoured this book!! It had absolutely everything I love. From the Cinderella inspiration to the dark romance to the down right hot and filthy spice 🥵🫠 Holy f*ck! Nico’s got a deliciously dirty mouth on him. I had to peel myself off the floor lol.

As soon as I started reading this book I felt excited, I was immediately hooked and hated when I had to put it down to ‘adult’! This is the first story about the Corsetti mafia family and Nico proves himself to be the character I thought he’d be when he appeared briefly in a previous book, Burning Notes, which is in another terrific series. Della is the ‘Cinderella’ of the story but in a total bad*ss way, Nico may not quite be Prince Charming but he is a charmer nonetheless!
I’m not going to say too much because I don’t want to spoil things for readers; however, even though it appears to have that fairy tale illusion, it is anything but that, it is so much better. I found myself on the edge of my seat quite a few times throughout the story with the action and drama. I’m not going to say too much because I don’t want to spoil things for readers; however, even though it appears to have that fairy tale illusion, it is anything but that, it is so much better. I found myself on the edge of my seat quite a few times throughout the story with the action and drama. Loved the concept, loved that it was Canadian, everything else, poorly executed. I never thought I would be bored reading a dark smutty mafia book but this book proved me wrong.

This is my first book by this author, and I can't wait to read more. This book is like a Cinderella retelling, with a mafia element, and sexy parts. The book is about Della who lives with her stepfather the head of his crime family and then there is Nico the underboss of the Corsetti family. Nico's father feels it is time for him to marry and began having children, of course Nico doesn't really care to he enjoys his playboy lifestyle. Della's stepfather who is horrible wants to bring down the Corsetti family and he will use Della for that. There is so much that goes on in this book and other important characters. Nico has an older brother, younger brother and baby sister, Della has a sister then 2 stepsisters. Nico and Della end up meeting and Della isn't exactly truthful, but Nico knows she isn't and wants to know what she is hiding. Nico has a thing with chasing a woman like for real chasing, he wants to go after his prey he loves their fear, which means he is kind of obsessed with the fact Della doesn't fall to her knees for him. I don't want to say to much because this book is one you need to read and learn everything as it happens. Della and Nico do end up together some, then all the lies come to a head, and there is betrayal. Turns out there are more secrets that just aren't between Della and Nico. Nico finds out some stuff he had no idea about. There is a happily ever after, but it does take some work and pain to get there.
This book definitely has some dark elements, Nico hates doing it but when he is betrayed, he does punish Della. Truthfully after what happened she got off pretty easily. Della is strong and speaks her mind but a part of her really just wants to be loved. Nico is violent but has a side of him that is caring and sweet. When he loves he knows how to love. The way Nico likes sex is hot too along with saying "good girl"! The plot was great, the writing wonderful and the sexy descriptions were great. There was the perfect amount of spice to with the plot.
"His electrifying energy fills the small, heated space, making it impossible to breathe. My nerves are seconds away from snapping, while also being ignited with a new vitality. I want to bolt and never look back, while also hoping he'll catch me."

This book was amazing and a great first book in a promising series. There were so many moments where I couldn’t put the book down because of just the anticipation of whats coming next and of course, the spice. This is one of my top mafia romance reads and it makes me want to read more of them!!
Nico is absolute fire. Everything he says makes you feel hot and i could not get enough of his words. Della is not your cinderella, damsel in distress type of woman. She will do what it takes to protect herself and her sister. The combination of these two and their banter was perfection.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series, and i hope we get some peeks of Nico & Della in them! 🥰

Review: This COUPLE!!! Della and Nico are a pair of star crossed romance. They are the typical prince and pauper but also modern day love story.
Della is a step-daughter and enemy of the de Luca family. She has been relegate to the help in order to protect her younger sister who went mute after witnessing a horrible accident. Della is one of the strongest pre-mafia princesses I have ever read about. She does not bend and exerts her freedoms in new and exciting ways for readers.
Nico is a hunter in every sense of the word. He hunts Della and refuses to let her go but also shows his softer side to her and can never fully hate her even after being betrayed by her. The main arc of this story was their betrayal to one another and then also seeing how much he still protected her even after she betrayed him.
This was a great mafia read and is not super heavy on the violence but still maintains the air of danger to the readers. It is a good start for anyone wanting to begin mafia tropes but does not want to have a ton of violence or harsh language.
Rating: 5/5 ALL the WAY. This was a great first read for this author and I plan to read more by her in the future!

Sometimes,i’m in luck. Because sometimes i find a book on pre-order on Apple Books before it’s published on Amazon and disappears everywhere else.
This one, i found just in time,and the others in the series are on pre-order,too.
The story reads easy enough,but to say it’s dark….no.
It’s a retelling of Cinderella within the mafia world,and Della is at the mercy of her stepfather and her nasty stepsisters.
The reason for this is the fact that when her mother died in a carcrash,her sister may have survived,but the trauma caused her to become mute.
Her stepfather put her in a home,and holds her care over Della’s head to make her whatever he wants.
And he wants her to go to the ball his enemy is having,in order to find useful information.
When she’s caught by the underboss,Nico,she has to tell her stepfather the mission has failed.
Only to hear that was what he was counting on…..and he wants her to lure Nico in so he can capture him.
Nico isn’t ready to do what his father wants,and the ball his parents organized is a nightmare.
Until he sees a beautiful girl,the only girl present that doesn’t want his attention.
She quickly becomes an obsession,even more so because she won’t tell him her full name.
His obsession changes after her betrayal, though….
Not that he’s able to kill her….not after he hears why she hád to do what she did.
So,how to make her stepfather pay for what he’s done,to him ánd to her and her sister,that’s the question.
An insta-lovestory with a mafia background that was not tóó deep,not tóó complicated,and easy to read.

As soon as I started reading this book I felt excited, I was immediately hooked and hated when I had to put it down to ‘adult’! This is the first story about the Corsetti mafia family and Nico proves himself to be the character I thought he’d be when he appeared briefly in a previous book, Burning Notes, which is in another terrific series. Della is the ‘Cinderella’ of the story but in a total bad*ss way, Nico may not quite be Prince Charming but he is a charmer nonetheless!

Nico and Della gave me a run for my money, a show, one helluva book and I’m salivating waiting for the next book. As underboss of the family, he’s used to women throwing themselves at him willingly, doing whatever possible to get within his grasp - not Della. Della is Cinderella at the ball trying to pull some underhanded scheme for her wicked stepfather to get free of his control. Nico’s attention is what she doesn’t want, but precisely what she gets and she instantly becomes his prey, his game, his to chase. He knows she’s not telling him the truth about who she is, but why? How has she embedded herself under his skin with a simple show of strength and defiance? What’s going to happen when she runs and he catches her because he will catch her. “You can never escape me Della, I have your scent memorized.”
This book was dialed up to 10. The banter, the steam, the primal nature in which Della finds she enjoys engaging in with Nico. These two were fire and ice, but my goodness did they ever burn!! Definitely a MUST READ

Della finds herself at the mercy of her ruthless step father who is obsessed with bringing down a rival crime family. He holds Della’s sister over her head to force her to take part in his plans. Della’s first task is to infiltrate an upcoming party at the Corsetti mansion and find anything she can on Nico Corsetti. It’s during this party that the instant connection between Nico and Della starts.
This was my first book by the author and I’m excited to read more. I really enjoyed this story of Nico and Della. Their chemistry is 🥵 from the very beginning. The spice is 🔥 and it happens quickly and often 😉. I’ll take Nico’s form of interrogation any day. Also…the primal play.

It’s during this party that the instant connection between Nico and Della starts.
This was my first book by the author and I’m excited to read more. I really enjoyed this story of Nico and Della. Their chemistry is 🥵 from the very beginning. The spice is 🔥 and it happens quickly and often 😉. I’ll take Nico’s form of interrogation any day. Also…the primal play.

The push and pull of these two with their conflicted feelings on how to move forward really added to the angst and tension. It definitely felt like a game of cat and mouse, but one where you aren’t sure who is the cat and who is the mouse.

This was a dark twisted take on the fairytale and I loved it. Not a massive fan of Mafia romance but after reading M.L. Philpitt's short story in the Heartless Heros anthology, I really wanted to read this!
In a world without mercy and so much deception, this story has plenty of twists, emotion, and just enough spice to keep you enthralled.

A dark mafia Cinderella inspired story?! YES!!! This was my first book by M.L Philpitt and I can say without a doubt that I will be reading more!
Nico is the broody underboss who’s being forced by his parents to find a wife. Della is the step daughter of a competitor who will do anything to keep her younger sister safe. When she’s asked to catch Nico’s eye in order to gain freedom, she does it without question.
At first we think Della is meek and obedient. But we quickly learn what a strong BA she is. She doesn’t cower to Nico, and she’s not afraid to put him in his place.
This story will have you hooked from the very beginning. The plot and the spice are both excellent. The primal play?! The praise?! *chefs kiss*

Holy cow!! This dark mafia story set in Montreal is a retelling of Cinderella that you won't want to miss. It is brilliant, from the twists and turns, to just how filthy and sexy it truly is. Nico is forced to pick a wife, but not one has what he is looking for, that is until he sees Della. Della captivates his attention immediately. Della's stepfather is a ruthless man who is obsessed with bringing down the rival crime family. He gives Della the task of finding out anything she can on Nico at the upcoming party. I love mafia books, and this one was amazing. It's full of secrets, danger, and spice. Run, don't walk, and grab your copy today.

But, Della is tasked to infiltrate Nico's party to find any information about his family or business. But, what she doesn't know is that Stefano has other plans. Will she success in helping him? The party was created to make Nico finally pick his new wife. But, he doesn't want any woman who will do at his command? He wants a chase, someone who has a little fight in them. That will question his command and make him chase her. Has Della gets to the party, her plan is to be a fly on the wall, but he notices her and wants to know who she is. Little does she know she trigger his chase, will she get away? Or who else lurking in the dark waiting?

I loved the twists and turns we see throughout the story. The moments of betrayal and love were so well written in my opinion.
The primal play - a little safe, yet the chase was everything.
