Make You Mine

Rate this book
A sexy firefighter. A much younger Nanny. The heat between them could burn down a small country. He doesn't believe in forever. And she won't settle for anything less.

Jace King is a smoking hot firefighter, a single dad and my new boss.
He's also the most beautiful man I've ever laid eyes on.
It's totally fine to secretly crush on the guy you Nanny for, right?
Did I mention that he's also a decade older than me, works with my dad
and he's a close family friend?

If you looked up OFF LIMITS in the dictionary, you'd find an eight by ten photo of my sexy boss.

But something happens every time we're in a room together.
The attraction is almost overpowering.

Jace is insistent that we can't act on it.
And I've always been a rule follower...
but maybe sometimes rules are meant to be broken.

It’s official. Make You Mine is my favorite ‘Honey Mountain’ book so far! I love a single-dad romance. This single dad is a firefighter and Ashlan is the nanny for his two young daughters. The way she is with his girls… sigh.

Even though Ash is the youngest of her five sisters, she’s always been a natural caretaker. Jace’s ex has been out of the picture most of his daughter’s lives, and Ash becomes that for them. With all this going on, Jace and Ash fall in love. There is some drama with the ex and things are a little complicated due to their age gap (she’s in her 20’s and he’s in his 30’s) but I loved these two together so much!

I adore Laura Pavlov’s writing and this audiobook was such a win for me! I can’t wait to finish this series. Only two books left. I know I’ll be getting to them soon!

This book would probably work for the right reader, but unfortunately that reader is not me.

We jumped into the story very abruptly and everything happened very quickly. Within the first 75 pages there was a walk in on him naked scene, a sexual assault moment where he came and saved her, a take care of her sick moment, a couple of scenes to get him jealous and riled up and then a very open conversation about their masturbating habits. All fine scenes…but it just felt like too much, too quickly.

There was also a lot of repetition which definitely annoyed me — and once we got to the halfway point and the whole “I want to be with you, but I don’t deserve you” part was over and they got together… the ex came back into the picture and it just turned into a headache of custody battles, lawyers and court hearings… and I very much do not want to read about any of that crap since I had enough of it when I was a child and my own parents were divorcing… so that was obviously very personal to me but still didn’t like any aspect of that whole situation.

There was also a third act breakup and a couple other small things that I didn’t enjoy about the story overall, but basically - I should have DNFd the book when I was about 125 pages in and felt like I already got the beginning, middle and end to the story I was looking for… but for some reason I kept going… and it didnt end up getting any better.

Ahhh this is definitely my favorite in the Honey Mountain series so far! There is just something about a single/dad nanny romance that gets me every time. This is also an age gap and he's a firefighter! There was just so much I loved about this book. First, the tension between Ashlan and Jace was everything, especially when they had an incident in the bathroom where Jace had just gotten out of the shower...They tried to ignore their attraction because of the age gap and for the benefit of the girls, but they couldn't stay away! And speaking of his daughters, I loved their part in the book and how important they were to the story. Ashlan falls so in love with them and you can actually see the positive impact she has on their lives.

One of my favorite parts of this series is the strong sister bond and that was still going strong in this book! This series follows the sisters and I love their group chats and get-togethers. We get to see how the previous couples are doing and they're always doing their best to support each other. And they definitely wanted Ashlan to get together with Jace already! This was just such a fun small town romance and I can't wait to see how the series finishes out with the last two books!

i did not expect to cry reading this, but here we are 🥲

i love this series so much. jace is a single dad to two daughters and he’s been barely surviving ever since his chaotic ex-wife left him and his girls. he’s in desperate need of a nanny and who better than ashlan, the ten-years-younger daughter of his boss. even though jace vows to keep ashlan out of mess he calls his life, they can’t help the feelings that develop between them.

SO CUTE. i wanted to just give jace a hug and a dad of the year mug. he was trying to put everyone else before himself and just did not think he was good enough at being a father or good enough for ash but he is the best. and he’s so hot okayyyyy. we all need dirty talking firemen.

ashlan was SUCH a good heroine. she was such a good mom and nanny to the girls and got jace to get out of his own way. there’s some other woman drama when jace’s ex flurries back into town (cue the tears) to try and meddle but jace was having none of it. such a good book. i couldn’t put it down.

Heartfelt, swoony, and beautifully charming! With every passing page I fell more in love this this couple, more enchanted with the Honey Mountain world. Make You Mine is full of small town charm, sparkling chemistry, and the most endearing characters. It's so adorably romantic, the perfect butterfly-inducing, feel good escape.

This has been the book in this series I’ve been the most excited about! Age gap, single dad firefighter with the most adorable kiddos falling for his boss’s daughter/younger nanny! Holy smokes I was on fire (pun intended) for this story- and even better than our endearing, caring, patient and beautiful soul of a heroine is also an aspiring romance author?! Be still my heart. I FLOVED them- their emotional chemistry, how they become friends that hesitantly enter into a relationship that is full of contrasts, externally complicated but between them so authentic and simple, on the surface forbidden but so pure and sincere underneath it all. I loved watching them fall, how they sacrifice for the kiddos and partner together to find their happy. Laura gives us the perfect magical concoction of swoon, heart, angst, and spice. And as always the family dynamic sparkles- so many lovable self dry characters (especially the scene stealing kiddos) coming in to add richness to an already tender and sweet story. Age gap is my fav, but given the swing treatment?! Ah? I’m a goner! So I’m love with this charming world, this enchanting couple, and their sweet love story.

3.5 stars! Make You Mine is the 3rd book in Laura Pavlov’s Honey Mountain series and I’ve been catching up with all of them on audio. This one is small town, has age gap (he’s 9/10 years older), single dad firefighter hero, and she becomes the nanny to his two daughters!

Jace is a firefighter and a single dad to his two daughters. Ashlan starts working as his nanny and he works with her dad too at the firehouse! This has age gap too, she’s 22 and he’s a decade older, but while they bring it up a few times it didn’t really feel like an age gap. Ashlan is wanting to write romance books as well and feels inspired with her new hot boss, Jace. We do also get some cute sick/caretaking scenes in here, first with her taking care of his sick daughters and then she gets sick and he takes care of her.

I really enjoyed the setup and first half of this one, but it started to lose my attention about halfway in. There was some drama with his ex involving custody and I just wasn’t feeling that part of the story. I had hoped to love this one since I love single dad/nanny setup, but this one just ended up being okay for me. I’m still determined to finish this series but I love the author’s Cottonwood Cove series so much more.

Ahhhhh this was perfect!!! Painful and had me anxious as hell but still so so soooooo amazing!! This book is definitely my favourite in the series so far! ‘Make you mine’ definitely made me theirs lmao. This book own my heart and soul!!

The way this book had me literally sobbing at some points has to be ILLEGAL!! Tears were literally running down my face at one point but that just proves how amazing this book is and how hard it hits you!! It had me fevering along with the plot and rooting and cheering for our main couple!! I love when a book makes me feel this way…

The conflict in this book was also so realistic and made a lot of sense. While it did have my blood boiling, it was very well included into the story and made me love Ash and Jace even more!!

Ash’s and Jace’s relationship was amazing!! Like… age gap, single dad, grumpy x sunshine AND (a hint of) forbidden romance??? Sign me TF UP!!! The way I was giggling, kicking my feet, punching the air, grinning and blushing my ass off was INSANE!!! I’m on my goddamn knees for them and their relationship. It was just so freaking adorable!!

I also ADORE the kids!! They were so freaking adorable and seeing how well they got along with Ash and grew to love her made my heart melt!! It was just so endearing and I love how they were so well included into the story and their relationship!

Ash is such an amazing woman and FMC. She’s selfless, caring, understanding and such a sweet sunshine!! I love her so so much and the things she sacrificed for Jace and his girls??? Ugh… marry me!!

Jace has me on my freaking knees!! He’s literally so hot, charming and sweet!! The way he called her ‘sunshine’?!?! I’m in love… and the way he didn’t want to give up Ash no matter what?? Crying and screaming rn.

It was also so satisfying seeing Karma kick Karla in the ass. She’s the worst and only deserves the worst. The things she did are fucking disgusting and I’m so glad that Calvin hindered her from getting any further with her plan than she already got. Bless him for that!

Overall, this book is so far the best in the series and I can’t wait to see how the next books are going to turn out to be. If this is already a 5 star than I believe that the next two will most likely be the same! Already soooo excited about that!!

If I would have read this series in order I definitely believe I would have rated it a little higher. I had a very nice time with all of the characters and the chemistry was amazing, but it did hit the ground running when I wish we would have had a little bit more of a build up. I am excited to read more from this author!

This book has all the tropes I love, (Single dad, nanny romance, firefighter, small town, age gap, forbidden…) so I was so excited to read it! This is the third book in the Honey Mountain series, but can be read as a standalone.

Ashlan is the youngest Thomas sister. She wants to be an author, but is struggling with what to do with her life after college. She jumps at the chance to nanny for Jace King. Jace is a local firefighter, and recently divorced father of two little girls. He needs someone to stay with the girls while he is on duty at the station for a few days each week. Ashlan moves into his guest house to be close (that way she doesn’t have to keep living with her parents either), and then stays in the main house on the days that he is gone.

Ashlan and Jace are both incredibly attracted to each other, but a romance between them is off limits. Jace is almost 10 years older than her, and is friends with her dad (Ashlan’s dad Jack is the fire chief). Ashlan is writing a romance novel, and the hero in her story is based on Jace. The tension between these two is off the charts. Between accidentally walking in on him to their flirty text messages, I ate it up! I do wish this part would have been drawn out a little bit more. They jump into a relationship what seems very quickly. There is an obstacle in the second half of the book that is an outside conflict. I liked how that was done, and I did like how their love for each other stayed strong throughout everything they had to face.

I love a good Age gap -single dad... Nanny book!!

There are so many really wonderful moments in this book, between Ashlan and Jace and Jace and his daughters, who gave this story so much feeling. It’s such a sweet and sexy story, with a bit of angst, a little frustration, and a whole lot of joy. Everything I’ve come to expect and love from Laura Pavlov. This story is just full of happiness, heat, and charm all wrapped up amongst the pages. This book is spot on when it comes to experiencing all the feels! I couldn't get enough, and I'm counting down the days until I get to make the beautiful escape to Honey Mountain once again.

I was so excited for this book!! I knew it was gonna be good and boy it was even better than I imagined.

I freaking loved all these four characters. They were perfect. Really made the picture-perfect family and what’s most important they all really loved each other and did everything they could for each other, even when it caused them immense pain.

I really really loved all their sweet and family moments. It really warmed my heart. I love watching them all together and happy. And when things go rough, it really hurt. Laura made me bawl on this one scene omg. It was so emotional.

Ashlan was amazing. Such an incredible soul. I loved her, I think she was my favorite sister so far. I loved that we watched her journey of writing a book and starting a career. It was great to see all the support these two families had for each other. I loved them all, and I’m so excited for the next books because I can’t get enough of these characters.

A single dad who is a fire fighter??? That was so hot. I went into this blind so can you imagine my surprise?
It was such a cosy, very fast paced read and not a single brain cell was used while reading it. Which what i exactly needed but it was very insta love/lust which is my biggest pet peeve!! I needed more tension, they got right into it i felt very disconnected so i was just entertained. The 3rd act breakup was actually a very new conflict that was discussed in this type of books but it was very unnecessary in a fiction book because i read to escape.

This was my first Laura Pavlov book and i have mixed feelings because as much as i had great time it also felt very rushed but if you’re looking for a hot single dad and firefighter this was cute and let’s emphasize on CUTE because when i say everything was rushed i mean it because at least give me a good spicy chapter. It was like watching a 2000’s romcom but the ones that were not very popular. Needed more tension and either skip the spice and make it a clean book or write a good one because it was MID. But will definitely recommend for a good time!!

5 sweet, swoony and heartfelt stars

This is such a beautiful story! A heartfelt friends-to-lovers, single dad romance that made me laugh, cry and swoon. I fell in mad love with these characters, and I absolutely loved it!

This is the third book in the Honey Mountain series, and is the story of Ashlan, the youngest of the five Thomas sisters who will get books in the series. Each book can be read as a standalone (but don’t miss the earlier books, they’re fantastic!), and this series is becoming a fave!

Ashlan has just graduated college and returned to her small home town of Honey Mountain, with dreams of being a writer, but otherwise unsure of what to do with her life. So she’s thrilled when family friend, Jace, offers her a job as nanny to his two young daughters. Jace is a fireman and works with Ashlan’s father and brother-in-law. They’ve known each other for years, and she already adores his two little girls, so it seems like the perfect arrangements. Except for the inconvenient crush she has on her new boss.

Jace is a good guy with a huge heart, whose whole world is his little girls. His marriage was not a happy one, and he’s glad to be away from his toxic ex-wife who left without looking back. He has his hands full juggling to jobs and two girls who are struggling a bit and desperate for some stability, and Ashlan is just what his family needs. What he doesn’t need is to be feeling the types of things he is feeling about his young new employee.

There was nothing about this girl that I didn’t like. I respected her. I admired her. I adored her. And I fucking wanted her something fierce.

There’s something between these two from the very beginning. It’s a friendship, but they both know there’s more there, and they both know it’s big. But while Ash is all too keen to explore their epic chemistry, Jace isn’t. He’s worried about their age gap (he’s 32, she’s 22), and he’s worried that he has too much baggage without anything to offer her. I could absolutely understand where he was coming from, and my heart ached for him, but that doesn’t stop the occasional slip and some wildly inappropriate flirting.

“A kiss would never be enough for me,” … I reached for chin and rubbed the pad of my thumb over her bottom lip. “Not even fucking close.”

Ash is a rockstar through the whole thing. She’s devoted to his girls, and does her job, giving Jace space, while also making sure he knows how she feels, and that the ball is in his court. She does it with confidence, maturity and grace, and I just loved her.

“You’re wrong about me, you know that?” She kissed me once more, hard and fast before climbing off my lap. “I don’t give up that easily. This isn’t just an attraction for me.”
“What is it then?”
She held on to my hand as she looked down at me. “It’s everything. But if I’m the only one that see it, there isn’t much I can do about it.”

The build-up is great, the chemistry sizzles, and they work through it playfully yet earnestly, and when they take the big step, I was feeling it all with them, and cheering my little heart out.

“I didn’t think I was good enough. I still don’t. But I don’t know how to walk away from this. I don’t fucking want to.”

This is such a gorgeous romance! It’s real and honest, and it develops so naturally. There’s lots of sweet and swoony moments, and I loved that we got to see SO much together time between them as they give themselves over to all they are feeling for each other.

All of this plays out as Ashlan is looking after Jace’s little girls, who are freaking adorable! 5 and 3, they have their own little personalities that bring so much to the story, and their relationships with their dad, with Ash and with each other, is so freaking precious. These kids had me laughing so many times, and the love that Jace has for them absolutely made me melt. I adored them!

And then comes the ominous moment that I was waiting for – the inevitable drama, which in this case brings works really well in the story, and definitely brings the feels. It’s not pointless, it’s real, it’s completely gutwrenching and its wonderfully written with so much emotion. I read with a pounding heart and tears streaming down my face. It was early hours of the morning, and I couldn’t put the book down, desperate to see how it was all going to work out. It finishes beautifully of course, for a very well-deserved happy ending that left me feeling happy and completely satisfied.

“If you love someone, there’s no running from it. And when you find it, it sure is worth the fight.”

Ash’s sisters are a huge part of her life, so of course they’re a big part of the story. I loved seeing them again, and seeing the support and love between the girls. And they’re bringing their husbands along with them. Niko and Hawk already have a relationship with Jace, and I loved seeing them have his back so many times through the story. The group all together is fantastic, and I love escaping into this series.

This is such a gorgeous read. It’s fun, sweet, heartfelt, emotional and beautifully romantic, and I absolutely loved it.

5 stars!

I must be closer to my period than I thought cause I've cried my eyes out with this book!

It's a single parent/nanny small Town romance for God sake!

But the way Ashley acted toward his girls, and the way everything was happening to ruin their family, I couldn't hold back anymore!

His kids were gold, he was a dream dad and she was a queen!
Period.

three stars! ʚïɞ

starting to feel like this author just may not be for me, but i will prosper and continue reading this series if it’s the last thing i do lmao

i didn’t think this one was horrible, but honestly it didn’t really have much going for it. we’re put like right in the middle of the story from the beginning and things seem to happen pretty quickly. also i felt like a lot of the characters like inner monologues were repetitive soooo much, it was like every chapter they were saying the same thing again and again.

the characters were alright, i thought the little girls were pretty adorable and loved their relationship with their dad and with ashlan. the whole mom drama was a bit too strung out for me, and it seemed pretty unrealistic and just dramatic for the sake of the story. also didn’t vibe with the third act breakup, but that’s to be expected at this point lol. i swear all these books are so instalovey, by the 50% mark they’ve already fallen in love with each other even if they haven’t kissed or even tried dating yet. i just don’t understand 🥲

think i’m gonna read a different book as a palate cleanser before continuing with this series, but i hope to finish it before the end of the month! it’s not the worst i’ve ever read, but i personally don’t think it’s anything special either. they’re quick reads, which is nice, though!

The dollar store version of Heartless by Elsie Silver.

The characters fell flat, the pacing was all over the place, and the third act conflict was actually laughable. Dylan was the best thing about this book and it’s not even her story.

Age gap, nanny meets firefighter romance in a small town with a family that I have become obsessed with reading about...check! Let me just give you a warning by saying that even though all the books in this series are a guarantee happy ending that doesn't mean you won't sob for a quarter of the book wondering how the hell Laura is going to fix it! Jace King, I don't know how Laura comes up with all these badass names but this one fits every description of this tall sexy firefighter single dad. I need to add that his two little girls are the most adorable characters and they make you heart melt with everything they say.

Ashlan and Jace are the two most selfless characters who have an intense attraction and chemistry. Jace has been burnt in the past and has a wall up thinking he doesn’t deserve a happy ending and Ashlan is there to prove him otherwise. Her relationship with Jace’s girls is the most heart warming thing I have ever read about, she literally bring life and sunshine (as Jace would say) back into their lives. These two have been through hardships and back and yet that’s not enough because what they have to deal with and maneuver in their relationship with each other breaks your heart into a million pieces because a happy ending never comes without some tears. When these two finally get together the spice scenes and chemistry ugh is worth the build up. I NEED to go buy the honey mountain series in paperback because I am obsessed with every single relationship and character in this small town!!

This one is so sweet and charming with a dash of steam. I truly love this family and the sisters in this series. It is so much fun.

I do wish this had a bit more steam. I can recall 2 scenes that kind of faded to black where those scenes could be BUT if you are okay with super light steam, you will really enjoy this one.

I'm clearly the only person ever who thought this was bland, uninspiring, humourless and corny. Also, the characters had no chemistry, the story was too cliche and written in a way that makes the writer seem like a teenager. Honestly, I'd rather read about stinky men than a literal turd dangling from a child's rear end. 🤮
