Just finished my ebook version. I don't know what else to say aside from... I feel like this is every fan's dream. We learn so much about Marcy and her adventures! And get more insight on Anne's thoughts during S3A! My one complaint is.. I wanted more Yulivia😔

MARCY!!!!! What can I say except, this was frogging amazing!!!!! I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PAGE. EVERY WORD.
THIS BOOK WAS BEAUTIFUL. It’s words. It’s art.
Marcy was my favourite from the Amphibia tv show.
She’s clumsy like me. She’s (definitely imo and hinted at) neurodivergent like me. She’s a bit socially awkward like me.
MARCY IS A NERD LIKE ME!!!! I can relate to her so much!!

Reading this was like seeing the show all over again but in Marcy’s pov, and getting to read about her adventures during S1 of the show was amazing!!!! (she doesn’t show up until S2 which was a huge disappointment for me, she didn’t get enough screen time!)
This journal makes up for it!

I absolutely would give this 10 stars if I could!!! The joy this book brought me…. Definitely recommend.

I also love how much Marcy loves Sasha and Anne. “My girls” as she calls them. So. Cute.

This show is so important to me. I haven’t visited it in a while, but reading this was a nice way to do that. Whether they continue to do more with the universe or not (because they definitely could) it’ll always be incredibly special to me.

This is a must-read for all Amphibia fans, really.
It was such a good book! I love Marcy Wu so much, she’s always been a fun character. I feel like this book adds so much to the story, because it explores the characters with a greater depth than the show imo. Especially Marcy. We get more insight about her character, thus making her motivations and arc more realistic. Marcy’s biggest qualities are also her ‘fatal’ flaws. She loves fantasy, puzzles and adventures, but when she can’t accept the reality of moving with her parents out of the state, she runs away from it and drags her besties with her, so she can have the adventures of her life and escape reality. I’m glad she finds a healthy way of coping with this in the end.
I also love how it dives into the relationship of the trio. And how their time in Amphibia affected them and helped them grow so much!

Smart gal Marcy choosing an artistic career!!! YES GIRL I’M HERE FOR YOU, FINALLY A CHARACTER I CAN SO SIMPLY RELATE WITH. But for real though, I’m happy she chooses to be a writer&artist instead of using her big brain for serious jobs (coughs in math and science) that bring money. 🥹😂

I love this book, it gives you an opening into Marcy's Mind. And when Marcy gets stabbed, then possessed (saying that makes it not sound like a kids' show, but trust me it's a 6+) there are just blank pages, because, well, why would Darcy and the core write in a journal? And after a couple of blank pages, Anne starts writing! This is just amazing!

It's great to see what Marcy was up to during much of her time in Amphibia. She was already a fun character in the show, but seeing things through her POV is fun and helps you to understand her all the more.

I do wish there had been more entries about Marcy and Andrias bonding, but I also like that Marcy got to have some adventures of her own.

I love how full all of the pages are, with drawings, with markings on the text, and with the occasional moments the text of the journal is interrupted by whatever was happening in the moment. I also love the flipbook image in the bottom corner. A great extra touch.

What I wasn't expecting was for things to switch to Anne journaling. I don't remember if Anne ending up with the journal was mentioned in the show (I enjoyed Amphibia, but I've only seen the show once). I loved seeing Anne's POV, but I was wanting more of Marcy. This being an extra addition to the show, it's not like we needed the full story of the show laid out to get a satisfying conclusion to this book. Not to say having Anne's POV is bad at all, as it isn't, but I would have liked more new content rather than recaps of Anne's adventures.

Also, since Anne got a chunk of the journal, I was hoping Sasha would get at least one entry, but... nope.

As for Anne's portion, I love that there was a change in the artwork and the writing style. I also love that Anne's markings are in blue, though that raises the question as to why Marcy's wasn't in green for most of the book. Then again, Anne knew of her blue powers by the time she wrote her entries, while Marcy didn't know about her green powers until near the end.

Overall, I enjoyed returning back to Amphibia and learning more about Marcy's adventures. It was nice to get a deep dive into her thoughts as well as Anne's. I do wish Sasha had gotten at least one entry, but it's fine she didn't. Still torn on the fact Anne got so many journal entries, as I felt there was more that could have been done with Marcy, but I still enjoyed her portion. I love that the two girls have different art styles and just how creative the journal is in its design and presentation. It's a nice companion book to the show.

Wow. Amazing. Wonderful.

'Marcy's Journal - A Guide to Amphibia' truly is a must for any 'Amphibia' fan. A few things - like extra details and thoughts - included in this companion book are even better than what the show gives us. The drawings, the sketches, the legit, authentic voices given to the character(s) writing as they record their adventures and growing pains and emotional journeys and reflections; everything is a blast. An abundant flow of personality, characteristics, and features, even subtle ones - THAT is 'Marcy's Journal'.

Real effort was put into the creation of this "journal". It is all so much fun, and thoughtful, sensitive and emotional. It is just as funny, exciting, suspenseful, intense, heartbreaking, and hopeful as the cartoon.

And like the cartoon, at the heart of all the Isekai-ing, magical worldbuilding, and Magical Girl-ing is the complicated, trialling, growing friendship between the three young girls - Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu. They are like real people with a history together, and they're great individually, too - so different from each other, with so many issues to work through, and yet their bond, their love, is there. They complete one another, separated or not. They are not to be easily dismissed as cartoon characters. Female friendships in ambitious epic fantasy animation for kids, I am here for it!

'Marcy's Journal - A Guide to Amphibia' - one of THE geekiest, most passionate things I've ever read, and I love it.

Two warnings: don't be fooled by the cute, kiddie and cartoony aesthetic - be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster; and be sure to watch the Disney animated series in its entirety first before reading it. It's not for casual fans (though it may well win them over to become hardcore fans, it is that good), and there are spoilers for the whole show. It's a completionist's treasure.

Official and passionate, thy name is Disney's 'Amphibia's 'Marcy's Journal'.

Final Score: 4.5/5

I love and adore Amphibia and this is pretty much all I could ever want from a book. It's worth it for the beautiful sketchy illustrations alone which feels like something a DM would make quickly to show a party and I mean that in a really sincere and Earnest way that it's made completely from the heart and with Love. Just page after page of cute art. The writing itself is a really nice companion to the series itself with a lot of the foreshadowing and call forwards fitting perfectly. It expands and fits alongside the story but in a very controlled way I would say. It feels like stuff they would have included if they could have but since they weren't able to they added it here. It's not a franchise bloated with never ending new lore, it's a pretty small, self contained and personal view of the bigger picture.
Marcy is one of the best characters from the show and they completely capture it here, even some of the more modern lingo(she talks about isekai and gacha lol) and her use of emoticons fits her perfectly. Anne writes occasionally for this and that in itself is super fun because her drawings and writing style feel so different to Marcy and I love that you can differentiate purely by whose writing.

Maybe one complaint I have is if you're looking for things not in the show, only the first third is separate and then it runs alongside the show. I wish there was a bit more but I understand wanting to get to the most impactful part sooner rather than putting it off for side quests forever but keep that in mind if you're thinking of picking this up. I like how Marcy draws her friends like their in a Yuri anime, she's so real(and gay) for that.

Didn't realize how much I needed this book until I started reading. Initially just wanted to support my favorite creators and get a cool companion to the show. Instead, this book was basically my therapy (and serotonin factory). Written from the perspective of the girl with the least screen time, Marcy's Journal gives deep insights into the mind of this neurodivergent goober. From the innocent obsessions and hyperfixations to the very dark, very real corners of guilt and self sabotage.

Laced into the pages of Marcy's adventures while Anne was stuck in Wartwood, recaps of episodes from her perspective, and amazing illustrations, is the story of Marcy's struggle, which may not be all that unfamiliar to fellow neurodivergent readers: this 13 year old girl is perfectly happy in her (perhaps unintentionally toxic) friend group, and suddenly everything around her starts changing, and she wants desperately to stop it, to return to the status quo. The little problems right now don't matter, because everything will be perfect soon, perfect forever, as long as things go back to how they were before. But change is a part of life, and is the biggest theme of the show and this companion. Fans of the show refer to Anne's final monologue in "The Hardest Thing."

Marcy's Journal - A Guide to Amphibia: funny, wholesome, occasionally heartbreaking, and a piece of excellent representation for neurodivergent readers.

Absolutely read this if you loved Amphibia. I originally wasn’t going to pick this up because I didn’t think it would add much to the world but I was WRONG.

Seeing Marcy’s perspective of her time on Amphibia was something I didn’t know I needed. After all, We get something here that we probably wouldn’t been done properly on screen– True insights of Marcy's thoughts and feelings. (And Anne's too!)

And definitely read this after watching the show!

This was AWESOME! Having read Journal 3 and the Magic Book of Spells before this, I had no doubt this was going to be a fun read. From the first entry, I could vividly hear Marcy's voice in my head as I read the passages (then shift to hearing Anne's voice when I got to the part where she takes over). The early entries give some neat detail on Marcy's early adventures, and it's interesting to see that even though she expressed a lot of excitement on what she had going on, there were some hints that she was feeling guilt for what she had done to get there. The concluding entries are also quite heartfelt. Deciphering the hidden codes was fun, and that map in the jacket is super cool (it even has the Curiosity Hut depicted in its location in Stony Gulch). Really neat to read these chronicles from the characters' perspectives. Don't rush reading through, though; savor and enjoy!

With 'Marcy's Journal' Amphibia fans like myself now have a nice book to expand on some of the show.

The biggest addition to the Amphibia storyline it has to offer comes in the form of some of the adventures that Marcy Wu had before we meet her in the show. And since this is her journal, we all get to "see" it through her eyes. There's a bit of a D&D-like adventure in there that I very much enjoyed, but mostly you'll be reading character reflections on the bigger events of the show.

If you like the show I'd definitely recommend giving this a go. It very much carries the same vibe and heart the show has, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss that a bit. And it made two sleepless nights a lot more fun! So many wins :D

4.7 stars I LOVE AMPHIBIA SO MUCH. This show, setting, story, these characters are all beautiful and this book and show can truly capture and demonstrate love. In so many different ways. Also, Marcy’s journal being the special book for amphibia is perfect, especially because I love Marcy sm. Even Anne’s entries at the end, they were all able to capture emotion, angst, passion, and ofc love along w Marcy’s entries. If you haven’t read this or watched the show, please do yourself a favor, prepare to cry at the end, but please watch it. It is an amazing yet indescribable experience. The creators did a great job with all of this. So thank you for this. Also the book has a lot of “best friend” (sapphic) moments 😘 beautifully put together.

The standard in which all tie- in material should be measured!

An absolutely delightful read expanding in the mythos and themes found in the animated series - best of all with everyone’s favorite adorkable, absentminded protagonist providing the narrative.

In all seriousness, Marcy is the perfect character to have narrated this tale. Not only is she my favorite character in the show, but she also is shown to continuously use this journal to jot down her ideas, further lending to the credibility of the material. This story was excellent and managed to fill in a lot of gaps surrounding her story, and even adds a little glimmer of hope the there is possibly more stories to tell in the world of Amphibia.

Needless to say, this is a must read for any fans of the show!

Marcy!!!!! It was great getting insight on what she was doing before Anne found her. I loved getting her thought process on her situation, what she was struggling with, and why she decided to keep the move from Anne and Sasha. I also liked how we got to see more on how close Marcy and King Andrias were. It puts in perspective how awful his betrayal at the end of season two was. Getting Anne’s perspective in season 3 was AMAZING! We definitely needed to look inside her head after everything that happened in the first two seasons, especially the season two finale. And the time jump at the end!! Were they hinting at a possible return of these characters to Amphibia?? I hope so.

So I have just finished reading Marcy's journal, a guide to Amphibia. It was really good. It is also clear that they are using this book to make the whole girls not talking for 10 years more tolerable. Despite this attempt I still find the whole no contact for 10 years the worst part of the series. I also would have loved more information on Sasha and Marcy's parents. What little info they did give just helped cemented my opinion that Marcy's dad is a carrier obsessed asshole. All in all a great book for Amphibia fans.

While this book does technically require knowledge of the the show to be read meaningfully, it does delve deeper into the feelings of Anne and Marcy and gives context and storylines not shown in the episodes. I won’t spoil, but it does this very well with several of the episodes. To all my fellow Amphibia fans, this book is absolutely fantastic and worth the buy. To those who haven’t watched Amphibia: I suggest watching the whole show first and then reading this book. And finally, thank you to Matt Braly and Co for creating such an incredible and meaningful show.

Fantastic book! This is everything the fandom would want. We are not only able to learn more about Marcy and her inner thoughts but also about Amphibia and her adventures. Some of the questions and concerns the fandom had when the series ended is solved through Marcy’s journal and it just makes the ending of Amphibia wrap up so nicely. I cannot imagine a world where this doesn’t exist. It brought so much to the characters and the world and it really shows the love and care everyone out into the world of Amphibia. This will always be near and dear to my heart.
