the rising sun through her window stripes her yellow quilt with shadows, wrong, all wrong. how can the sun still rise? how can she? it’s been two nights and a day since summer died, time that grace has still lived.what i liked:
- laney.what i didn’t like:
- information was kept from the reader for way too long; like am i supposed to just accept that this specific group of people randomly decided to work together to solve the murder of their “friend”? not to mention, they only start working together towards the very end of the book. the rest of the time we just spend with their boring drama that never gets fully explained, or if it does, again, it’s only towards the end of the book. so i'm sorry if i don't care that adam dated summer but liked grace who is now dating harrison who just so happens to be summer's brother;
- the police work was so funny to me. wdym they just gave away the specific cause of death to the people who should probably be considered the main suspects? i think the cause of death could’ve been presented to the reader differently;
- summer is a very stereotypical influencer. she truly had no other personality trait other than caring too much about herself and having a lot of followers. oh and she was obviously nice sometimes yet it was just a façade and she was a bitch. i get that the author probably intended for her to be that way but a little more depth to her character would've been nice;
- summer is writing a memoir (for whatever reason) and seeing as the book includes captions from her instagram posts throughout, you get to read snippets of her book. not to be a bitch but no one would publish a book written like that. also, do people really care about this random influencer THAT much for her memoir to be that big of a deal?
- on that note, the instagram captions were so unnecessary and poorly written. i also don’t think i’ve ever seen an influencer write captions like that, but i’ll digress. the only ones that added anything to the story were the ones i just mentioned – that included snippets from the book -, but the other ones did not need to be there whatsoever;
- lastly, i don't think the author knows how social media works <3
