When Love Comes Back Around

Caden was a Foster; the most respected, most influential family in the county and one of the most prestigious in the state. Royce was the nephew of the town drunk, a boy no one expected to amount to anything. That hadn't kept them from a friendship that had deepened into love. Ten years ago, Caden had followed his father's expectations rather than his heart - and he'd regretted it every day since. But now Royce is back in town, and Caden has a second chance for the life – and love – he's always wanted.

I have a confession to make. I was first attracted to this book because I liked the cover. Looking at it you can see that it's definately not a sexually charged cover, but I really liked the sweetness of it. I mention this because the cover is alot like the book. There is a certain sweetness about the storyline and way the characters are written that I really enjoyed. Plus, it's a great reunion story with a happy ending...and we all love that don't we?

Royce Spaulding has just come back to town. A man that was raised on the wrong side of the tracks, he left his childhood home to start over nine years ago. The recent death of his Uncle and once guardian has forced him to return to the hometown he thought he would never return too. Royce has had a very abusive past (by his Uncle) and the loss of his first and one true love has gives him the incentive to get any business done quickly and get of the dodge without reliving painful memories-especially of Caden not believing in their love enough to fight for them to be together.

Caden Foster was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Despite being born to priviledge, he fell in love with his childhood best friend many years ago. Caden has been forced by his father to abandon any dreams he has for himself to persue his fathers asperations of Caden being in politics. Caden has been forced to live this lie for years, but when he discovers that Royce has returned home, he is determined to fight for the one thing in his life that mattered...Royce's love and friendship.

Watching Royce and Caden reunite and forgive had a sweet quality that I haven't read in a while. Both characters are very likeable and well developed. Neither are perfect, but are willing to work through their differences to be together. I enjoyed Caden finally standing up for himself and fighting for the life and love he wants, and Royce opening up his heart to forgive Caden and to encourage Caden to forgive himself.

A QUICK NOTE:
There is also a quick story I just read called "Christmas Traditions" (Christmas Themed) continuing Royce and Caden's story. They are now living in New York together and Caden is determined to give Royce the best Christmas he has ever had. Is is a sweet story too...I really loved both of these stories and look forward to reading more stories written by this author as well.

I was on the fence with this book. At times, I liked it but then sometimes I felt it dragged a little bit, especially for such a short book but overall it was a pleasant read.

I liked Royce (awesome name, huh? :D). He was an interesting character in my eyes. He was stern in the beginning of the book towards Caden's requests and I applauded him for saying 'no' to Caden even though it was clear how much Royce loved him.

Caden. Hmmm. I didn't much like him at first. Mostly because I hate characters right off that let their parents rule their lives like Caden let his father do. And, because Caden let his father do that, he broke Royce's heart and then lived a lie for ten years. However, I did grow to like him especially since he wasn't ashamed to tell people of his involvement with Royce after he basically gave his father the finger. So, he definitely redeemed himself in my eyes.

The fact that there isn't any sex in the book was a major plus for me. I liked the fact that, for a short book, it wasn't the main focus, or a focus at all. It gave more time for the details of Caden and Royce's past relationship and their present one to be formed.

I didn't like, though, how it kept going back and forth between the past and present whenever either of them thought of a memory. It was slightly annoying even though I did like the memories themselves. I know, that doesn't make sense but I don't know how to explain it. I liked the memories, I just didn't like the constant switching. *sigh* I also didn't like how easily Royce took Caden back. I mean, Caden broke his heart and didn't have the balls to do anything for ten years?! I would have liked some more grovelling on Caden's part. Lol.

A good book. I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a sweet, short read. :-)

Caden and Royce have been apart for 10 years because of Caden's inability to stand up to his father. When Royce comes back to town for his uncle's funeral it brings back a lot of memories that he's tried to put behind him. Initially Royce is strong and refuses to see Caden again but eventually he crumbles. In a way, it is sweet that Royce doesn't make Caden pay for his mistakes and all the time they have been separated but overall, it's just really sad that they've missed out on 10 years together.

I am always sad when there are years wasted between soul mates. Caden and Royce are childhood sweethearts and they have their whole lives ahead of them when Caden chooses his father and his family "obligations" over Royce. Ten years later, Royce returns to deal with his uncle's death and tries to make a quick pit stop without bumping into Caden again. But we all know that if they don't see each other again, then this would be a poor romance indeed. I liked this story, but 10 years is a long time to be an idiot. And Caden was more of an idiot than most.

This was a really cute mm love story but to be honest: it could have been longer!! The whole making-up between Caden and Royce happened way too fast for my taste. And that after they weren't together for 10 years.
But all in all it was really cute. :)

I'm a bit on the fence about this. I love second chance books but i hate when the time apart is so long. 10 years is a lot and a lot happens and is hard to believe that someone who was dumped like this don't will try forget the other one. I would say that is unlikely. But i liked the book, the characters are okay and the flashbacks was well used.

Caden Foster has always lived by his father’s rules and even in love he has obeyed his father. Ten years ago he gave up his one chance of happiness and has regretted it ever since. Years later and realizing that the man he gave up is coming back to town – he makes the only decision he can make – ask for forgiveness and try again. But will his plea fall on deaf ear or will admitting he was wrong years ago be the best thing he’s done in a long while.

After ten years Royce has come home to sort out family obligations. Although his heart isn’t in it, he knows he is the only one left to do it. One thing he is very sure of, he has no plans to reacquaint himself with the one person who has broken his heart; the one person who still means more to him than even he realizes.

This is my first Lisa Marie Davis and it's a great read. Caden and Royce are not only ten years older than the last time they saw each other, but also filled with years of regret and disappointment. Both have made a name for themselves in their chosen field, and have grown stronger because of the experience of ten years ago.

Ms. Davis has given us enough back history to get caught up in the life and love of Caden and Royce – and with all the external forces against them, you will no doubt fall in love with the men as I did.

Be prepared for lots of emotionally charged scenes that will either have you clenching your fist at the unfairness of life or smiling as you literally cheer the men on again all the forces against them.

WHEN LOVE COMES BACK AROUND, is a not to be missed reading experience.

This is a short novella of the relationshiip between Caden Foster, the goldenboy of a cruel and domineering father with high expectations for his son, and Royce, who was the nephew of the abusive, alcoholic town drunk who took him in when his mother died...Caden and Royce, would seem to have nothing in common, they both come from different backgrounds, but when they both meet each other at age 14 they find a connection. That connection grows when both young men turn 16 and end in an excited kiss that Caden plants on Royce after a football game. They both admit their feelings for each other and decide after they finish college they will leave their small hometown and embark on a future together..Well, as Shakespeare once said, the course of true love never runs smooth, and that holds true for Caden and Royce. We witness a truly sad break-up, hidden desire, attempted murder and a joyous reunion all in the course of 70 pages...This book is truly for the romantic in us all, and truly despite 10 years that past for our heroes, love can conquer all.

I'm not a huge fan of short stories, but this book by Lisa Marie Davis is a sweet story.
I read one comment that 10 years is overdoing how long someone will wait and forgive.
As I've grown older I've realised 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, is but a sneeze in time. And the older I become, the faster time flys. If a loved one dies, we don't stop loving them because 10 years has passed. In the case of the MC's in this book, I can understand why their love for each other just simmered on the back burner.

Uh... after ten- and I say, ten freaking years, Caden regret the stupid decision he had made and Royce forgives him like nothing had happened and they're all "I love you" and "I love you right back"... after 10 years- how the heck you can still love each other?!! I might have understand two, even 5 years but no, ten years have passed! But, please!!

An entertaining, afternoon read. The Dad is definitely creepy and the MC's are sexy and lovable. Kind of predictable but interesting and action filled enough to keep me interested and give me an escape for a couple hours.
