this was perfect. i loved it!! i had missed these characters so much. it was so great to finally catch up with Wyn and Danny again.🥺🥰

✦ this novella had SO many precious and cute moments. i swear, all the adorable conversations Wyn and Danny have make me smile like a lunatic.
✦ this had Wyn’s POV!!👀 Danny also had a chapter from his POV at the end though!
✦ first of all, Wyn’s smoke thing never ceases to amaze me. the way he brought a whole ass car so Danny wouldn’t have to walk… that’s the ✨definition of romance.✨
✦ i love the fact that Wyn is still monster-like, despite being in love with a human. he doesn’t suddenly now care about every single human out there, just because he loves Danny.
“there had never been - and never would be - another being in the universe who i could be this relaxed and content around.”
✦ actually, the way Wyn hates most things and creatures, except Danny (and Edin i guess lol) is just great in general. he truly cannot be fucking bothered to deal with anyone’s bullshit.🤣

✦ the amount of power Danny has over Wyn… love that. all Danny has to do is look at Wyn with his puppy eyes and he’ll give in… so cute!
✦ the whole immortality topic was finally approached! (i guess i should stop calling it immortality, since Wyn technically isn’t even immortal, it’s just that his kind lives for thousands of years and he’s almost impossible to kill lol).
✦ the way it was approached was great. it wasn’t just ”oh let’s just make Danny immortal”, instead it was more like tethering Wyn and Danny’s lives together - as in they would basically share the same lifeline.
“there’s a place in my world where we can… tether our lives. it means that the years we each have left become ours. both of ours. we share them.”
“our life forces become intertwined. they rely on one another.” can i just say that the whole tethering your lives together thing is SO romantic.😌🥰
✦ Danny is also less vulnerable now that’s he’s tethered to Wyn, which is obviously another huge plus, since Danny is very prone to injuries…🤣
“i would still worry over him, but at least it wouldn’t be a constant, pressing fear that the smallest injury could get infected and kill him.”

✦ we did get to meet another Soul Eater/telyth. 👀 he definitely provided some extra entertainment. his “chapter” at the end was great.💀🤣 i already love him and i hope we get to see him again. (can he please get a book too? pretty please???)

Happiness achieved. It’s all Wyns perspective in this one which is nice. Also I completely forgot that there are more of his species. I was really confused at first 😂. The setting was through the rift! Which was super cool because I didn’t think we would ever get a look over there. I did want to meet more soul eaters but that’s fine. Danny and Wyn are happy, that’s all that matters. And Danny is so precious!! He is too pure for this monstrous world. I’m glad he has Wyn.

October 4, 2021That's right, Wyn got his own novella. I couldn't resist giving our little death monster baby his own book.
This really is the lowest of low-angst that a book about a post-apocalyptic, monster-infested wasteland can be. It focuses on our original monster-human couple, Wyn and Danny, a few months on from where we left them at the end of Soul Eater. They are madly in love. Danny is still his adorable, optimistic little self and Wyn is still a murderous, grumpy death monster who hates literally everyone except his one sweet human (and his annoying but loveable friend Edin - he still hates Hunter though).
In this novella (which sits at around 50k words) they get their true HEA. Told almost entirely from Wyn's POV, we meet some other new *ahem* interesting monsters and explore new places. We get to find out what goes through Wyn's quiet, withdrawn brain. And he gets to keep his sweet human forever :)

If you read and loved Soul Eater, Wyn is a must read.
Told from Wyn's POV, this book gives us a glimpse into the mind of a telyth, a more detailed understanding of the monster world, and the ultimate HEA for Wyn and Danny.
I loved the descriptions of various plants and creatures, a thriving monster city with inns and an outdoor market, and otherworldly Caen an Sin, a place where two mabs (ancient giants believed by some to be gods) live and preside over sacred water that allows beings to share their lifespans.
Lily Mayne has an incredibly imagination and the writing skills to bring it to life.
This story is angst free but full of feels, joy, and humor (Wyn's keen sense of sarcasm made me chuckle more than once).

Lo que me he reído y disfrutado mucho con esta novela corta que toma como foco la perspectiva de Wyn.

Ni siquiera se me ocurrió, no lo pedí pero estoy contento con el resultado. Resultó interesante, curioso y muy divertido ver qué hay dentro de la mente del soul eater. Y la manera en que se ha contado ha sido sumamente irónica y obviamente tierna, creo que son una dupla bastante querida por lxs lectorxs de la saga y no me extraña, si son lo más de tiernos y graciosos cuando están juntos.
No estoy seguro si de verdad aporta mucho a futuro pero sin duda hay que leerlo. Aunque sea por las risas aseguradas y por conocer el mundo de Wyn y cómo Danny y él lo exploran juntos.

I needed this sweet little novella with Wyn and Danny.
I pressed my lips to the back of his head and wrapped my arm around his waist, pulling him tight into the cradle of my body. He fit there perfectly.It's my absolute favorite kind of wrap-up to a beautiful love story. Where it's just the two of them being in love, traveling together, and discovering the joys of a relationship after the beginning butterflies aren't so fluttery.
“You mean you’ve never seduced anyone else with your sexy voice and insane skills in the sack?” He dropped another kiss on my chin.This will definitely be re-read, such a perfect little story.
I rolled my eyes. “I think you are the only being alive who would ever consider my voice anything other than hideous.”

✦ how can i not give 5 stars to the pure serotonin that this book is? we go on the beautiful journey of how wyn and danny get their forever together. this was pure cuteness and had so many precious moments.
✦ wyn being such a romantic??? who would have knew, only danny brings that out in him. i loved being in wyn's pov because we got his direct thoughts on how grateful he is that danny chose to be with him. and how he would never take advantage of their time together even when he knew they would have thousands of years together now.
✦ wyn calling danny my sweet, it’s still so cute and i'll never get over it.
✦ wyn is still his monstrous self which i loved. as we know, wyn is insecure of his face and that's why he never showed danny for a long time in Soul Eater, and i loved seeing danny always reassuring him on how sexy he was and how he loved wyn's scars. and rightfully so, because wyn is hot af and everyone needs to know that 🥵
✦ this novella was also so funny. i got so many feel good moments and laughs. wyn is very intimidating and feared by literally everyone but he is so hilarious. be prepared to laugh a bunch and for this to feed your ultimate sweet tooth 🥰
✦ the sex scenes. there is something about these two i swear. they are SO hot together. when they had sex in the open in that "sacred" pool 👀 and wyn's “why don’t you get me on my back and fuck me as hard as you can, danny?" damn. 😮💨
✦ orlith (another soul eater/telyth): what a cocky, arrogant, trouble making monster. i loved him. he had me cracking up. orlith is a past hookup i guess? of wyn from over a hundreds of years ago and now he's very very jealous of danny and i cannot wait till he gets his own human.
✦ wyn and danny are now intertwined for life and basically married (as wyn gave danny one of his bone rings for his ring finger) and the other monster and human couples can now live many many years together. so i am a very happy person right now 🥰

I was going to be stingy and give this a 4 star, but fine! I'll round up!
It's really sweet. But more than that, it was imaginative. A full novella set in the monsters' world. I loved the imagination!
The meeting with the Mags was anticlimatic tho... extremely low angst book which was slightly disappointing only bc I kept EXPECTING something to happen... which never did. No danger at all.
Can't wait for MORE of this delectable series!

Ugh, this was so cute. I love Wyn and Danny and it was so nice to read about them again. This was definitely a sweet and low-angst read which I love. We could see more about Wyn's world and it was interesting to see how different it was. They had adorable conversations and sugary sweet scenes. I smiled throughout the whole thing. The plot was simple but I still loved it so much! ★

They are just so sweet together. ♥ I love Danny and Wyn so much. They are perfect together. I love that Wyn still acts like a big bad monster even though he is with Danny who is a human. That kind of sums this novella up.
And being in Wyn’s head is fab-u-lous!
Wyn isn’t only a true romantic at heart, his dry humour and quiet, unapologetic ‘monster-ness’ made me chuckle again and again. The way he road-tests whether it is safe for Danny to cross into his world is rather amusing, at least for us readers! Love his protectiveness for Danny!
The world building here makes up in spades what I might have missed in book 3. Wyn’s world is fascinating and highly imaginative. I was totally captivated.

And being in Wyn’s head is fab-u-lous!
Wyn isn’t only a true romantic at heart, his dry humour and quiet, unapologetic ‘monster-ness’ made me chuckle again and again. The way he road-tests whether it is safe for Danny to cross into his world is rather amusing, at least for us readers! Love his protectiveness for Danny!
The world building here makes up in spades what I might have missed in book 3. Wyn’s world is fascinating and highly imaginative. I was totally captivated.

Compreendi que inicialmente Lily Mayne não queria usar o recurso de fazer os humanos viverem para "sempre" com seus companheiros monstros, tinha aceitado seu jeito de pensar, mas ficava angustiada só de pensar que Wyn, Edin voltariam a ficar sozinhos um dia. Claro que adorei que Lily Mayne tenha dado um jeitinho para atender os leitores. Quero que Edin e Hunter recebam o mesmo privilégio de Wyn e Danny. Gosto de todos os casais dessa saga, mas não escondo que sou totalmente apaixonada por Edin e Hunter. Amei o Edin desde o primeiro livro❤ Preciso que em algum momento seja mostrado que Hunter aceitou fazer ligação de alma com Edin. Adorei o extra tendo narração de nosso querido Wyn.

At this point I'm aware of having a soft spot for Lily Mayne and her "Monstrous" series, so It've been an easy 4 stars 🌟
If in my previous review of The Rycke I said that Lily had spoiled us in Edin giving us so much boyfriend material between Wyn and Danny, right now I have no words ♥️ This book is an an ode to her beloved characters.
◾ Wyn starts after Edin and The Rycke, but I think that it could be read without the last one because our MCs don't know about Aury or Ghost (despite Wyn knows about the existence of the rycke 😏 ) and this novella doesn't spoil the previous novel.
◾ So, the story starts with our favourite Soul Eater falling into an existencial crisis about Danny's mortality and the aftermath. Hence, he decides (with Danny's consent) to go through the tear and tether their lives at the Caen an Sin (monster world). This fact will give rise to a marvelous journey full of love andsexy times ♥️ 🌶️
◾ Positives:
✔️ An improvement in the world building: once again we have a better worldbuild, surpassing the previous books. The Monster World is magic without hesitation 🔮 💜 All the fauna and flora 🐲 🌹are so well written and the locations which have a medieval style invest in the background of this series. I'm already anxious to read Lor, yass! 🥳
✔️ The love beetween our MCs: if they are the best pairing, I say it and don't hide me. Not only their relationship and dynamics: Wyn being all protective and caring of Danny 😊; the "sweet" thing (such a cutie nickname 💖 ); Danny letting himself be spoiled 🎂 🧁 , etc. Someday, this author will give me a sugar overdose and I won't complaint about it. Besides, our pairing like characters in theirselves are a perfect mix of dominance and submission, whose are perfectly written by Lily ♥️ Mainly, Wyn... my favourite grumpy monster 🖤
✔️ Orlith 💅 : such a diva, I've said 💗 I'm being left with the desire of knowing more about this fabulous character. Hence, this is a positive and negative point in itself.
◾ Negatives:
❌ The lack of plot: Ok, it's a little bit ufair because this is a novella and a short story about Wyn and Danny, but... Lily, the readers always want more and more 😹
❌ Orlith, again: this character is a little bit wasted and it's so sad 😿 I only hope that this decision has been done because we'll have his novel soon 🤞 Fingers crossed.

This is reminding me why Wyn and Danny are my favorite couple. Aury and Gage may be intense but Wyn and Danny are everything.
So sweet, so loyal, so adorable and loving. To get Wyn’s POV through most of this was pure magic because you now understand just how deeply he loves Danny. It’s freaking beautiful!
He’s especially protective once they enter his world but it’s less for Danny’s physical safety and more for his emotional well-being. Fortunately it’s harder to get your feelings hurt when you don’t understand the language. But that doesn’t detract from Wyn’s need to save his feelings at ever turn and I love that.
The mabs were a great addition, so sinister they made my skin crawl. Makes you wonder what would happen if they decide to leave their place and go through the tear. Talk about the works for Armageddon.
I’m obviously intrigued by Orlith and what he’ll bring in the future. Hopefully he’ll get put in his place and I’m pretty certain I know just the person for the job.
Such a great addition to this world, I doubt I’ll ever get enough of Wyn and Danny.

It's basically a National Geographic documentary but the Monsters version. 🫨
We finally get to know the world beyond the tear through Wyn's eyes, and from his POV it is even more adorable and funny!

And Danny? omg I’m so happy that he can finally be happy and have a long life with his spooky grumpy monster.🖤
Now we know there is a way— so it has to fit in with everyone else too, RIGHT? *cough cough* Edin and Hunter 😏😏

5 Monster Stars!
Words cannot describe how excited I was when I saw that Lily Mayne was making my dreams come true and Wyn and Danny would be together for longer than Danny's short human life span. When I read the first book in this series, that was literally my only gripe. It gutted me to think that Wyn would have to live without Danny one day, forced to roam the land alone and heartbroken. I desperately wanted there to be a workaround for the two of them.
Am I greedy? Yes ma'am! Sue me. Lol.
In this short novella, we get to journey with Wyn and Danny as they go to the one place that will bond them together for many many many years to come *dances happily.*
I loved every second of this story. It was the perfect combination of heat, action and humor. Wyn and Danny's love was passionate and authentic creating a vulnerability between them that was both hot and deliciously dirty. Their connection was soul deep and meaningful in a way that leapt off the pages and into my romance loving heart. It was just SO sweet...in a good way!
Wyn was still the scary monster to outsiders and the swoony romantic to Danny. Danny was still endearing with his boyish charm and quick wit. They truly were made for each other.
While Wyn and Danny's relationship took center stage, Mayne did an excellent job at cultivating a unique, imaginative and descriptive world. Danny's fascination with Wyn's world mirrored mine. I want to know more and I can't wait for future stories! Seriously Mayne is a very talented writer...there aren't many stories that hold my attention like her stories have.
I'm really very sad that I finished this so quickly. I promise I had planned on savoring it but it pulled me in and I couldn't put it down. I'm hoping we see more of Wyn and Danny in the future because they really are one of my favorite couples I've ever read.

Super sweet and cute. Actually kind of funny. I loved the authors explanation for her change of mind to incorporate her characters getting a solid HEA, her solution was great. Not just a breeze into easy immortality but rather a nice original idea. Brilliant. This was pure fluff but it was lovely to get Wyns’ POV and have some revelations from his thoughts about what happened during their story.

Sweet and spicy novella. Loved seeing Wyn and Danny again, especially from Wyn’s POV. And I loved seeing him so smitten for his human, so swoony.
The smut was as good as book one, of course. Passionate and loving. Seeing them get to commit to each other on a more complete level, get their lovely ever after, was perfect and really completes their story.
And, oh my god, I didn’t know there might be an Orlith book?? Yes, please.

Yay! I was so excited to revisit Danny and Wyn and get more of them together. I love them.
This is a relatively short, but still substantial story of Wyn taking Danny to his world in order to go to a place where he and Danny can become...tethered, as it were, so that they share life forces with each other. This essentially means that they will split their remaining life spans in half with each other to have an even lifespan.
So basically, Wyn has 8,000 years left or thereabouts, and so by giving half of it to Danny, they'll both live another 4,000 years, together. Living and dying together.
I'm so happy to be caught up with this wonderful series, and thankful that the author changed her mind and is letting our humans get a longer lifespan to live the same amount of time as their monster counterparts. It was sad thinking that one day Danny, Hunter and Gage would die and their lovers would have go on thousands of years, if not more, without them. We know for sure that that won't happen with Danny and Wyn. Guess we'll see about the others (but I'm hoping they choose to do the tether thing too ;)).
This was also an introduction to the world all the monsters came from, and to get to know it a little bit and how it's different and similar to earth.
We also get to finally meet another Soul Eater, who has a bit of a past with Wyn. And it seems like he might get a story of his own too...
Haha so many possibilities for future stories and I love it.
Overall, a wonderful stopover at Danny and Wyn and where they are in their love story. It was cute and sweet and sexy and fun. I perfect .5 installment in this wonderful series.

Must read the first 3 books in the series before this one!!!
This is my favorite one in the series because we are out of Nebraska and in the monster world!!! It’s also entirely from Wyn’s POV and I loved it. Danny’s POV from the first book in this series was full of wonder and naivety whereas Wyn has been alive for thousands of years and hates everyone and everything that isn’t his sweet human. Oh the romance. 💗
I felt like Danny when reading this. I was super excited to learn about all the new monster species, the wildlife like flowers, plants, grass, fruit etc, the city, the landscape etc etc. EVERYTHING was interesting. I would have driven Wyn nuts and he woulda killed me because I’m not Danny 😂😂
This story was fabulous and the author said she felt like making a series of just Wyn and Danny’s adventures for the next thousands of years. Sign me right up! Anything this author writes, I cannot wait to read.

MY HEART IS BURSTING AND I AM SO DISGUSTINGLY HAPPY. The BLISS that I feel being back with with Danny and Wyn is IMMEASURABLE. I'm pretty confident in saying that no other couple in this series can or will amount to how these two adorable idiots make me feel (which is saying something because I still very much love the ones I've met so far).

Ugh, this book was everything! I just loved Danny and Wyn from book 1, and this novella of them tethering themselves together was so sweet and perfect. It was a nice change of pace to hear the story from Wyn's perspective. You get a better idea of what he's thinking and how much he truly loves Danny. This book gave me all the feels and am looking forward to Danny and Wyn crossing paths in future books of the series. Can't freaking wait, it's so good!
