When when I started this book I was very apprehensive, reason being the author's previous works in the historical gendre like Destiny of King's. Alas I have been pleasantly surprised!!
Great storyline, strong character and good flow throughout the book. This is a feather in the author's cap that she can write about a character that is involved in the shady side of life, and she does that with empathy and gives you a glimpse into the motivation for the character's actions.
Needless to say, when I started reading I had to finish it and I can recommend this jewel to anyone who loves strong female characters.
Fantastic read!! Thanks Fiona

Very interesting.

Missing girls, upset mothers, private schools and a new detective agency keep Liz and her partner very busy. This is a good mystery story.
I received this book as an ARC and enjoyed reading it.

This is book two of the Foxy Mysteries series set in Adelaide, Australia and the main character is Liz Jeffreys, the owner of Foxy Investigations and also a well-known madam and high-class escort with her own Foxy Agency, for some twenty years. She has taken on her old boyfriend and retired corrupt police detective Max as her Private Investigator for her investigative business. She has been called in by the mother of a missing girl, Gemma Richardson (17), who has been missing from home for two weeks now. At first, Gemma was traced to a local commune, which her mother thought was a cult, and when police checked up on the place she wasn’t there and they too no further action. Liz had paired up with Detective Senior Sergeant Jack Cunningham in a previous case, where one of her friends was killed and she helped him find the killer. They have a relationship sort of starting out, but he can’t seem to get over her still working as an escort at times, with any proper relationship with her. His former partner was Max, who has now been replaced with a smart young female detective Jenny Williams. Adding to the story is Liz and Max’s daughter Jackie, who she gave up for adoption and whom Max knew nothing about until Jackie had come looking for her birth mother!
There is more to this missing girl storyline, as another girl Belinda, linked to Gemma through their social media posts, also goes missing, but she is from a different school than Gemma. Max and Liz question the teachers and head at Gemma’s school, finding a Mr Jones to be quite dismissive and found to have relationships with a couple of staff already in his short first term at the school. The school Chaplain attends any of the meetings they have with other students, making it almost impossible to even question them fully and has the sort of eyes that look as black as a demons. He is also very good at avoiding any questions about himself, not even giving out his name! Looking further into Mr Jones, they check into any missing girls at his previous school and find a series of missing girls, but also a couple of murdered teens as well. The net is tightening, but Liz continues to go out on her own without any back-up from Max, or official help from Jack or Jenny, following her own leads and sixth sense about all things to do with the sex trade, young girls and those who would likely take them. In doing so, she has to reveal a darker side of the sex trade that she has experience of, in the hope of finding either of the girls, as time is running out for them. She places herself in danger to get to the bottom of who is behind these missing girls and her own desires to never have another girl suffer as she did when she was a young teen. A good mix of reality and danger, with the full experience Liz can bring to such investigations and assisting the police, as well as her work to help teens in need, all added to the mix with her own biological daughter and her new relationships with Max and Jack. An excellent read and I have just gone and bought the first book, to catch up on how her investigative business branch started and more about her own struggles through life, to get to where she is today. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I look forward to reading the next in this thrilling series. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and this is what I thought of it.

Interesting group of characters. Not likely to see a High class escort turn into a PI but it does bring some valuable insight into the inner workings of that trade! Young Gemma has gone missing but she is not the only girl missing. Can Liz find her and the others before it is too late? When Gemma had found a safe haven, why did she leave it? Liz is a strong woman who has been through a lot of suffering. I felt I understood why she made the decisions she has made in her life. Good ending.

An excellent mystery with a good storyline and a strong female character. A new detective agency keeps Liz very busy, but she still finds time for her former business. A real page turner that I would highly recommend.
