Inmon has done well to defeat the curse of diminishing returns in sequels and series novels. All installments in this trilogy (so far), have been page turners with no lack of unexpected twists right up to the end.

A fitting end to the trilogy

This volume concludes the story of Ales Hawk’s adventures in kragdon-ah (I know there are several additional stories added later but I’ll skip them for now)

Where the first two volumes where standard quests, one quest per book, the last part of the trilogy feels more like a wrap up, apart from a short run in with a massive army of old enemies, which is handled as a total anti climax.

Unfortunately there’s also a massive deus ex machina element at the end, to ensure a happy ending (and avoid a crippled Alex for later stories).

Though all three volumes I wondered what the setup reminded me of and now I know, it’s more or less a recap of Burroughs Barsom stories, apart from the small sci-fi element added at the end of this volume, not that there’s anything wrong with getting inspiration from the classics.

Book three

Mistakes: I found a couple in this book. Nothing really bad, just enough to throw you off though.

Plot: Stuck in the future Alex Hawke must contend with flying spiders that block out the sky. An army that covers the land, and something that is killing all the pregnant women. All while wondering if he will ever see the daughter he left in the past.

Characters: While action packed, it is the characters that drive these stories.

Wonderful book again

This book takes Alex Hawk on more journeys and adventures that I will not describe here because the reader should encounter them on their own. If I told you what would happen it would be as if I came from the future and told you a story that might be unbelievable.

As always, Shawn has written another wonderful place for us to travel to......Kragdon-ah is or I should say has been a great adventure for his many readers to enjoy. I laughed, I cried (many times), and I thought he would never see his 21st century daughter, again.............but wait, look what happened. The many questions we all had and I am sure Alex Hawk had over the years were finally answered and all turned out well for time traveler. He even brought back proof of his time away. I really enjoyed this trilogy and I have pre-ordered book #4, now I am waiting for the much waited for book #13 of Middle Falls, another great series. All I can say is keep writing Shawn, keep playing that same song over and over to speed up the process, your many fans await the next installment of your imagination and will be reading them as fast as you can write them.
P.S. I did find a few typo's in the Kindle version of book three (3).

My favorite so far!

Shawn Inmon has done a wonderful job of bringing this trilogy to a close. He tells a great story and manages to tie up loose ends while completing a story arc that was fun to travel along with.

A wonderful conclusion to this Kragdon-ah trilogy. Ties all the loose ends up...just the way I like it. I never knew how much I enjoyed time travel stories before I found Shawn Inmon's books. Looking forward to seeing more adventures for Alex Hawk in the future.

Fantastic and Wonderful!

Loved this series and can't wait the next book. This one had so many adventures and surprises that I don't want to give anything away. But then the visitors from another time period who came to explain things to Alex were definitely a surprise. It's going to be difficult to wait for the next installment.

Shawn has done a great job with this 3rd book in the trilogy, lingering questions are answered (I love the way he did that part; reminds me of a certain part of “Contact”) the overall story moves great and you will keep reading it to see what’s next.
Great characters and they are written in a way that you care about what happens to them. Which I feel is the mark of a great book and author.

Alex is finally ready to return home through the doorway

Anticipating leaving his friends was painful, but goodbyes were said and the long trek to the doorway was complete. But the doorway was gone. Nothing could be found of it, it just was gone! Manta-ak returned to Winten-ah and resumed his life with them. Alex (Manta-ak) led the tribe through many adventures, treks, and of course battles with other villages and people. The worst battle being fought was the increasing mortality of mothers after giving birth. What was once 1 of every ten births resulting in the mother's death, became every birth killed the mother. The infants were in fine health, but the mothers just died. Alex foresaw the end of humanity on Earth in the future he lived.
The same great characters, some new faces and a final goodbye to a few, but the storyline continues to wind its way around Alex and his friends. New wars, new friends, new villages and villagers. Hello to old friends and goodbye to some, Winten-ah's future is bright then dark. The storyteller is brilliant! All in all, this is a great read!

Absolutely Outstanding Adventures

So WOW!!!!! I like to read stories written in a series format, and I wait until the end to make .y comments, Why? Because so many times book number 3 is usually a repeat of 75% of the previous two. The story had rumors course
These three books started with a story and stayed with story until the last word!!!!? A joy to read I read these books in the middle of the pandemic while also recovering from a serious construction accident I had time on my hands. An small town Oregon boy living and working in the Near East.
You made this time 57 days in hospital so much more bearable like being transported to a different time and place so much more enjoyable than where I am.I thank you for the story, I especially Thank You for the Portal you created to step through back to Oregon at the base of MT Hood where I spent my youth.
Waiting for the next one

I am really enjoying the Alex Hawk series. I have been trying to mostly find new authors this year but I keep being drawn back to Shawn Inmon's books. I was surprised when I saw how many of these had come out so I am behind and I enjoy these enough that I am breaking my own rule and reading multiple of his books to catch up. This particular book was an excellent part of the Alex Hawk series. I am really happy that there are more of these to come and I will be starting book 4 next. I think the best endorsement of an author is always how badly do you want to read the next book in the series, and I want to read it very badly. I also find myself thinking of the characters well after I have read the books. If you are considering reading the series, do you will love it. Start with book one, its a continuous story and you wont know whats going on if you start on book 3.

I started this on Audible from their Plus catalog. I had a tough time warming up to the MC because of several choices he made in this book and subsequent choices he made that were related. I felt like no matter how much he brow-beat himself for it the truth was that he DID abandon his daughter even were it not intentionally. His abandonment was the direct result of choices he made to satisfy his curiosity over his commitments. It made it very hard for me to warm up to him. I did, eventually, and in time he even redeemed himself in regard to said abandonment of daughter. But I was a very hard sell.

That said in terms of portal fantasy this entire series is totally bomb. I loved it and wish there were more of it.

Bulk input day.

The ending

The Hero, Alex Hawk , is getting tired of all the fighting with man and beast. He finally is able to go back to the door, only it is gone . Devastated , he returns Wenton ah. He accepts his fate. Then he weds Senta eh , they build a cabin and work to rebuild the community after the spiders have tried to destroy everything .
This , of course, is not the end of his trials . Manda ak still faces an army . There is a special task he does not know about yet, and it takes a toll on him, but he perseveres .
Still typos , terrific story .

Finally, an ending I thoroughly enjoyed. It seems like more often than not these days authors drop the ball on giving us a great ending. Inmon didn't do that. There was enough there after the climax that you felt like you were satisfied in knowing what life was like after everything had happened. I very much appreciate the resolution of the original problem three books ago, at the very beginning. Hard to say much without spoiling, but it was not just a good job putting a bow on everything, but he made it both interesting and didn't do that lazy, "I left it vague so you could decide the details."

Decent follow-up sequel

Does TBE trick of giving a little escape from mundane BS for a time. In this adventure there are quite a few times the language changes to perfectly placed expressions from both the recent and the lost dialogues. That trick does prepare readers a little for the inevitable conclusion except that it's never over until the dog woofs in agreement. I'm enjoying the series
In the time of our own plague of Zislas, this is an excellent escape.
This gentleman can surely write some interesting stories.
I'm hooked.

I’m still waiting for a Shawn’s book that I don’t like but he keeps delivering. Not only with Alex’s history but with middle falls. I’ll start soon with your other books.

Another adventure with engaging storytelling. This book made me cry and made me happy and angry and made me realize that I liked that you can’t expect someone to be saved and live just because in Inmon’s book. I find this amazing because isn’t life just like that? People you love leave and things happen and you have to continue.

Thank you for another amazing history.

Home run.

I absolutely loved the Alex Hawk series by Shawn Inmon. I can usually guess where a book is leading but I was wrong about the direction Alex Hawk would go several time. Fast paced, action packed without all the boring in between details. The jumps in time were perfect. I was glad to hear that Alex Hawk maybe returning for more books.

It was an excellent finale to a three-part story -- this would make a fantastic television / streaming series. The creative ways in which Alex Hawk was able to resolve a variety of threats and concerns with the use of limited resources throughout this story (and series) was very inspiring. as were his leadership skills.

I feel that I’ve fully overcome any initial speed bumps adapting to the world of Kragdon-ah, and the process reminds me of those digital photos from 90s mall kiosks where you had to relax your eyes until you saw the sailboat. Three books in, and I can easily see the sailboat.

There were multiple side missions for Alex and his team to overcome in this book, overcoming nature and man, tragedies, and tying up loose ends leftover from the first novel. The author plans one-offs and trilogies and always fails to not over deliver. His first trilogy is pushing 18 novels. In the author’s note, he says this trilogy may go to as many as six novels. Seven are released as of the time of this writing, and I don’t believe he’s done yet.

I can’t wait.

What can I say but brilliant…

Again a brilliant book 3. A lot of adventures, even romance (finally), and sorrow. A real rollercoaster. I particularly enjoyed the explanation re. the doors & how the earth became the way it is. And was also nice to finally find out if Alex returned to 2019.

Fun series from a terrific author

What a great ending to the trilogy, but I'm glad there's the possibility of another book! A really pleasant and engaging story that I think anyone from a wide variety of ages can enjoy.

Good page Turner

No salacious garbage, very little filler text, hardly any profanity. Completely enjoyable read.
Could be the future foretold. Suggested reading for sci-fi nuts like me...

I was very pleased to see the story continue in the next volume. The writing was good and kept my interest I am a fan of such stories about Time Travel and science fiction as well.
If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you will certainly enjoy this Alex Hawk book.

Adventures in Time

Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve been this drawn to a story! Just read all 3 books back to back (which is a rarity unto itself) and can hardly wait for the 4th to come out! I hope to see plenty more of Alex Hawk! It’s not often I give a 5 star rating!

Of the originally planned trilogy this has been the best story. Usually I get bored in multi volume story lines but this was a good surprise.; nice twist to resolve some problems and answer questions. I feel sorry for the bear. It got a bad part.

Great read

This installment like the other's quickly sucks you in and takes you for ride. Love books that make you cat about the characters to the point of thinking of them as friends like these do.

While this installment answers many questions, it feels like the end of the story rather than part of a series. That doesn't take away from how good it is. Perhaps, this story was a trilogy in the beginning. It will be interesting to see how the next part fits.
