This was a flipping brilliant book and I have been so curious about Elise from book one and dying to read her and Lucas’s story. For me this is just another MUST Read. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced copy of this book and I bought a copy too.
Elise Smith works as a receptionist at Starr Enterprises, she and Lucas have been friends since she first started, she has had a crush on him ever since but when she realised that she was pregnant and with the experience with Sophie’s father she is reluctant to ever think of romance with any man again. As much as she doesn’t want to feel anything for Lucas other than friendship she cannot deny that her feelings have ever been platonic but he has been her biggest support her through her pregnancy and her six months maternity leave. Having no support from her family she was prepared to do it all on her own but when she returns to work and her co-workers bully her at every opportunity can she stay in the job that she has grown to love and when Lucas asks her for a favour can she really guard her heart over her true feelings for the one man that has always stood by her side?
Lucas is the cool, suave and calm top corporate Lawyer who has been basically in love with the independent single and feisty receptionist Elise since the day they met but when she announced that she was pregnant knew that any feelings that he had needed to put aside and what she needed from him was support and friendship. He vows to be there for both her and her daughter Sophie so when his twin sister announces she is getting married Lucas finally sees an opportunity to show Elise how good they really would to be together and asks her to accompany him. But with the drama at work and surrounding her life will he be able to convince Elise to let him in and allow him to love her the way that he has always wanted too?
This was the perfect story for both of these characters that I have watched change and grow towards one another in the past two books. Be ready for twists and turns with mysteries and intrigue. I love this author and her books always have me page turning from the start to the finish and believe me her books are better than sleep. As I am pretty sure you can guess I HIGHLY recommend this book this series and this author. 5*****+ read.

This book is amazing and I loved it! It drew me in on page 1 and didn't let go. The story of Lucas and Elise is full of love, sass and a bit of danger. Elise and Lucas work for the same company. He has been fascinated by her since the day he met her. When she found out she was pregnant, he decided she needed a friend more than anything so that's what he became. He was even in the delivery room with her when her daughter Sophie was born. Now, Sophie is 6 months old, Elise is coming back to work and the baby's father, Darren, is causing problems for her. Having made her sign a contract saying she had to keep Sophie away from him and can't ask him for money, he begins to spread rumors about her at work. Lucas is persistent in his actions to get Elise to go on a date with him, but it doesn't end up happening, but he finds the contract. Determined to make things right for her, he starts working to free her from Darren once and for all. While doing all this and falling more in love with Elise and Sophie everyday, Lucas must also deal with his own father and the trouble he is causing. Just when he thinks he's dealt with both his father and Darren, the truth comes out and Lucas realizes just how much danger Elise is in. With the help of his friends Oliver and Caleb, he rushes to Elise's apartment in time to save her and make sure the guilty parties pay. In the end, Elise allows herself to finally fully accept the unconditional love of the man who has been by her side through thick and thin and Lucas's hard work pays off as he finally gets his happily ever after with Elise and Sophie.

I have to give this book 4 stars 🌟 because for some reason I unfortunately couldn't get completely engrossed in this book, it took me 5 day to finish it and it normally just takes 1 or 2 days to read a book. I do love Emelia Blair.
I did get more engrossed half way through the story.
Ok ....I loved Lucas he is truly the man you want by your side for life. Elise my goodness that poor woman went through hell, my heart was breaking 💔 for her. Little Sophie was just so precious and the innocent 😇 one in this crazy, dangerous world she was born into.
This book had fantastic characters they like a family they support each other no matter what, great chemistry in-between Lucas and Elise I did feel that emotion coming out of Lucas, there's a lot of danger in this book, mean bullying, mystery suspenseful, physical abuse, this real sleazy nasty man that I felt like strangling him, funny bantering, revenge and love does prevailing in the end after all the hurt they endured. That ending was soooooo damm good loved it!!!
This is a stand-alone, no cliffhangers.

This is Lucas and Elise’s story. It’s no secret that Lucas has been falling in love with Elise over the last year. His friends and family can all see the way he looks at her, as can his work colleagues. Up to now, he has stayed firmly in the friend zone, supporting her throughout her unexpected pregnancy. She’s about to return to work after her maternity leave and when Lucas finds out that Elise is fond of him but scared after her traumatic experience with Sophie’s father, Lucas ups his game and is determined that one day he will make her his wife. Elise puts on a brave facade but when her friends and Lucas discover that she is being bullied and harassed in the workplace, and the identity of Sophie’s father, the men begin to help her from behind the scenes. As Lucas and Elise’s relationship steadily flourishes, forces are working against them. This is another well written, excellent addition to the series. It’s great to see old favourites and find out what is happening in their lives as they band together to try to ensure another happy ending. Lucas’s character is fantastic and Elise has a wonderful backbone. It was enjoyable throughout. Fantastic.

Superb, edge of your seat romantic read. 4.5 stars. I've always found it amazing when an author can bring romance, steamy sexiness, and nail-biting crime into a thrilling novel. This is the 3rd book in this series I’ve read, and the author had managed to give each and every successive book a unique edge and keep it interesting. These novels revolve around a group of people and although each story is different, the characters are constant. The introduction to Lucas’ and Elise’s fond exchanges was part of the ongoing description of the 1st two novels, here their full story unfolds. It is lovely to read about Lucas’ deep affection for Elise for over a year and his persistent presence in her life, even just as a friend if that’s all Elise, will allow him to be. Their feelings for each other naturally go way beyond simple friendship and after a great many well-spaced out tension points and good dialogue, our couple reaches their HEA, and with baby Sophie, they become a family that Lucas wanted for such a long time. I would recommend this book without hesitation. It is a very entertaining, often exciting page-turner. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I loved Resisting the Lawyer by Emelia Blair. I was completely hooked from page one! Lucas has been in love with Elise since she starting working for Starr Enterprises. After a traumatic experience with a previous date, she placed Lucas firmly in the friend zone. All through her pregnancy from previous ex, he was by her side as her friend and even in the delivery room when she almost crushed the bones in his hands as she gave birth to her daughter. Elise has no idea the friend she is crushing on is almost to point of obsessed with her. Elise refuses to name the baby’s father only that he is not involved in Sophia’s life in any way. When Lucas learns of the struggles Elise is facing with the bullying and threats she is receiving from the female colleagues, he is determined to protect Elise and Sophia. Things take a dramatic turn when threats from her ex toward her and Sophia become impossible to ignore. This story will grab you and not let go as it is filled with drama, romance, suspense and twists you will not see coming!

Awesome BOOK! I love Emelia’s series with these men, Oliver, Caleb and Lucas. This story is about Lucas and Elise. On the last book Elise had given birth to her baby girl Sophie and Lucas was with her from the start. He has been in love with her since she first stared working for them even when he found out that she was pregnant, and the father was not involved. He decided to take on the role of her friend during her pregnancy, but now it was time to claim her as his… The story is interesting as the real father becomes someone that one expected. The drama in the book is awesome, there is a portion of horror for poor Elise, but she is a strong woman who defends her little Sofia like nothing in the world. Jace who is Kendalls brother is awesome in this book and even though he is not one of the beginners of this story, I would really hope to see him added there or maybe just a nice short epilogue story of all of them together.

This was such a great story to read!! You will be invested in their story from the first to the last page and it will stay with you after. Lucas and Elise are friends and he helped her during some rough time in her life, but he would like to change this because he has feelings for her and he wants to protect her from harm. Elise neede Lucas as a friend but now she would like it to be more, but their are some threats, bullying and an ex who are aiming at her. Can Lucas, protect her from any harm? A great story with a couple who as sizzling chemistry.

Lucas is a great male lead. He loves his woman and will do anything for her, even just being her friend. The care he shows for damaged Elise and the loving he gives to child that was conceived by another man, but is his nonetheless confirms his love. Elise is a strong woman baring her teeth when people threaten her young daughter. Together Lucas and Elise make the sweetest couple with lots of steam. The standalone read does have a happily ever after, although the road to that is definitely bumpy.
This is the third book in the Dirty Hot Resistance series. All of the characters feature in the other books are included. The friendship between the women and the protectiveness of the men make them a great group to be a part of. If you want to get to know them give this a read.

I love this series. Emelia knows how to write some dang good office romances and I am so glad Lucas finally gets his story. Lucas has been crazy about Elise for a long time and he has been there for her through thick and thin. He is going to protect her no matter what and that is super sexy. Elise is sweet and doesn’t deserve what happens to her. This story is so good strong characters with such chemistry and passion, through in drama and it makes for one heck of a book. This was a delightful romance with a mystery intertwined. The reader is captured from the beginning to the end with many twists, turns and surprises. Elise is a very independent gal who can't believe that Lucas could really be interested in her. There is no hint as to why Darren is being so mean to her and it doesn't become clear until the end of the story. Lucas is a lost cause for Elise and her baby,Sophia. There are some tense moments keep the pages turning. Luckily everything turns out by the end of the story with a happy ending.

This is the 3rd book of the series. We finally get Lucas and Elise story. Lucas is the hard ass lawyer for Starr Enterprise and Elise is the receptionist that he has been secretly in love with for over a year. But Elise is skittish, and a new mom. The story is fast-paced, hot and funny. It also deals with workplace bullying. It is a great read.

I have been waiting for this one and boy is it ever worth the wait. So many twists and turns will have you keep wondering almost to the end. Loved Lucas and Elise characters so much that they have developed over this series, have taken delight in how each have progressed not with each other, but in themselves as well. Wonderful in how all these friends have become family and someone they can truly count on for help.

Omg! I don't know what to say other than I absolutely loved (!) Elise and Lucas' story. I think this is my favourite so far.
I experienced every emotion while reading this and I already feel like I'm missing them (and Sophie!). From the very first page I couldn't put this story down.
Another amazingly well written, fully captiviting and drama filled book by Emelia Blair. Seriously recommend!

I really enjoyed this book about Lucas and Elise. It was witty, it made me giggle out loud. Great dialogue and it had intrigue in there.
It also had a cute baby that Lucas adores as well as her Mother. For me it was a great read I couldn't put it down, I enjoyed it so much.

This is book three of the Dirty Hot Resistance Series and I found this series to be quite enjoyable to read. Lucas, a CEO, and Elise, a receptionist, have been flirting for over a year now. During that time she became pregnant to someone else. The story is interesting and has enough suspense and danger to keep you on the edge of your seat. Characters from the previous books are back and all characters are well defined. Great read!

Wow I had such a great time reading this book. The characters are a really fun couple their chemistry is undeniable from the start however getting to the HEA makes for one to read. The flow of the storyline was awesome.

This was a good read. Lucas has been in love with Elise for a while now. She is a single mother and thinks that he is not interested in her. Unfortunately, they deal with some drama from an ex. However, in the end they get their happy ending.

A wonderful and thrilling romance read by Blair. A great story line and flow. Amazing, strong characters. I love the mystery and suspense. This book has it all and in the perfect dose. For Lucas Black there has only ever been Elise and he's been the man she needs whether she realizes it or not. Resistance is futile. I love how both have their brokenness but their strength is beyond. A wonderful read!

Overall, this third book in the series is good. I didn’t connect with Elise and Lucas as much as I did with some of the other characters, but I did like how Elise was a strong mamma bear when needed.
The sex was just okay in this book. That could have been because I wasn’t that into Elise and Lucas. Or maybe it was because it took so long for it to happen. Either way,it left me unsatisfied.
I still suggest reading this book and hope to come back to this series and readJace’s story. Happy reading y’all!!

Well worth the laughter and tears
Another great book in this series of stories. Each book has carried on with all the families and friends, yet different. Different circumstances but handled by the unit of friends. Can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next chapter (really it's the next book...lol).

Lucas and Elise work together but he has always had feelings for her. However when she became pregnant he figured she was seeing someone and pushed his feelings aside. When he saw that she was alone with the baby he step up as a friend but slowly they eased into something more. However when Elise starts getting harassed at work Lucas wants to help but Elise won't let him because she fears it'll make it worse for her. The baby's father is threatening her and the baby so she's thinking of quitting. Will Lucas go around her to find out what's happening? Can they find their way to be together?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I think this has to be my favourite book of this series. I love how throughout each book you know how much Lucas loves Elise, but in this book you finally get the full story! I love how the other characters are also included and never far behind. Can't wait to see what Emelia has in store for Jace next!

Resisting the Lawyer is the third book in the Dirty Hot Resistance series and it is the best so far to me. It is the story of Lucas and Elise who are boss and secretary but also friends. Well that is so Lucas has also been in love with Elise since they first met and she has been crushing on him for as long. But he never asked her out and instead they became good friends and support systems for each other. She definitely did rely on him once she became pregnant by another man and then had the baby, a daughter named Sophia, on her own with the father not wanting anything to do with them. When she comes back to work after her maternity leave she is bullied by other female employees but Lucas is there to protect them both. At the same time he makes it more known that he is interested in her and also Sophia. Lucas finally sees an opportunity to become more and decides to ask her to be his date to his sisters wedding. But there are people causing issues and becoming more threatening towards Elise and Sophia putting them in real danger by the end. This brings out Lucas's protective and possessive Alpha side as he will not let anyone harm Elise or Sophia.
Lucas is a great character as he is written with just the right amount of sexy and growly Alpha mix. Elise is a sweet young woman who finds her mama bear strength and finally learns how to use it.

She definitely did rely on him once she became pregnant by another man and then had the baby, a daughter named Sophia, on her own with the father not wanting anything to do with them. When she comes back to work after her maternity leave she is bullied by other female employees but Lucas is there to protect them both. At the same time he makes it more known that he is interested in her and also Sophia. Lucas finally sees an opportunity to become more and decides to ask her to be his date to his sisters wedding. But there are people causing issues and becoming more threatening towards Elise and Sophia putting them in real danger by the end. This brings out Lucas's protective and possessive Alpha side as he will not let anyone harm Elise or Sophia.
Lucas is a great character as he is written with just the right amount of sexy and growly Alpha mix. Elise is a sweet young woman who finds her mama bear strength and finally learns how to use it.

Lucas and Elise are employed at the same company and he has been in love with her for over a year. He has treated her as a friend only, not asking her out even though he wanted to. When she became pregnant with someone else, he continued to be her supportive friend. With the baby now 6 months old, he is ready to ask her to start dating finally. His sister, Debra, is getting married and bringing her there as his date would be a good start.
Now someone appears to be after Elise, and Lucas is not going to allow anyone to hurt her. He waited long enough, and she is his to protect. There is some suspense and danger to keep the reader highly interested. There are also familiar characters from other books in the series to connect with. I enjoyed the characters and seeing them interact, especially the relationship of Lucas and Debra. It was definitely very brother-sister dialog! Grab your copy and enjoy the action.
