Scarred by both mental and physical strain, Dan Tate struggles to control his feelings of panic and despair. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Aiding the ghosts of Coffin Cemetery has given him a purpose. And his budding romance with Diane Wright has brought him peace.
But Dan soon finds his life turned upside down. Corrupt medium Janet Ladd has unleashed a diabolical new spirit to plague the town. He finds himself haunted by the living as well, when someone from his past makes a surprise visit. Someone Dan thought was buried years ago…
Faced with darkness and pain on multiple fronts, Dan and his supernatural companion must call on the spirits of Coffin Cemetery for help. But will it be enough to defeat Janet, and the sinister power lurking behind her schemes?
Or will this be the battle that sends Dan spiraling into madness?
Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.
Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.
Dan is one mixed up individual, but he is working to get himself together - and help the ghosts in the graveyard he tends to as well. As Janet ups her attacks, he becomes more determined than ever to stop her, but he is going to get some help from an unlikely person.
Dan Tate is back and he has some powerful allies. The threats to Dan and his family are escalating fast and events are about to come to a head. Will Dan survive? Will Anger become a ghost town in more ways than one? To add even more spice to the mix, the mysterious silent partner of the evil ghosts is finally revealed, and my jaw hit the floor when it happened even though I had an inkling of who it was since the fourth book. If all this isn't enough to make you drool, Shane Ryan comes to town with an agenda of his own. You just have to know that things get interesting at that point. I cannot get enough of these books. Ron Ripley is one of my all-time favorite writers and he doesn't disappoint with this series. There will definitely be a Book Six and I cannot wait.
Good reading. Enjoying the series and like this author. I would recommend this to anyone.
Feel free to remove me if you wish 😘 #TRUMP2020#
My position on Donald Trump: Make no mistake...I'm not posting this for debate. I don’t seek or need commentary. Unfollow or unfriend me if it makes you feel better. Just consider this...when you think the President is a jerk; he is. He’s a New Yorker. He’s crude and can be rude. He gets his feelings hurt and he’s a hot head. He hits back; harder. The media hates it when he tweets. Why? Because he gets information out, they don’t want to report. Let me tell you what else: He is a guy that demands performance. He is a guy that asks lots of questions. The questions he asks aren’t cloaked in fancy “political” phrases; they are “why the hell...” questions. For decades the health industry has thrown away billions of face masks after one use. Trump asks, “why the hell are we throwing them away? Why not sterilize them and use them numerous times?” They called him stupid. What are they doing now? Sterilizing face masks. He’s the guy that gets hospital ships readied in one week when it would have taken a bureaucrat weeks or months to get it done. He’s the guy that gets temporary hospitals built in three days. They said no way he could do it. He’s the guy that gets auto industries to restructure to build ventilators in a business that’s highly regulated by agencies that move like sloths. He’s the guy that asks “why aren’t we using drugs that might work on people that are dying; what the hell do we have to lose?” He’s the guy that restricted travel from China when the Democrats and liberal media were screaming “xenophobia” and “racist.” Now they’re wanting to know why didn't he react sooner? He’s the guy that campaigned on securing the border - protecting America - in the face of screaming Democrats and the liberal media. When he shut down borders in the midst of the coronavirus virus, they screamed louder. Then the rest of the world followed suit, including the European Union with travel between their member countries. Has he made mistakes? Yes. Everyone I know has and does. The “experts” wouldn’t and haven’t done any better. Trump is working harder than I’ve ever seen a President work. Twenty-four hour days. He isn’t hiding in his office; he’s out front - Briefing - every day. When he offers hope, he’s lying and when he’s straight forward, he should be hopeful. It’s a no win situation, but he’ll not be deterred. I’ll take this kind of leadership six days a week and twice on Sunday over a “polished, nice guy” politician who reads prepared speeches from a teleprompter and answers pre-scripted questions. He is my President. Donald J. Trump #2020 Copy and share if you agree. Copied from a friend
It's been so long since your last book that I'd forgotten about Olivia - not that it mattered - it was all about this luttle girl Kristine just randomly killiing (or killing random) people - no-one of interest which just had me saying "oh here she goes again!" I got it that she was very dangerous and scary but the whole book seeemed to revolve around her! I'm so happy that Janet finally got what was coming to her but only by copying Kristine! I was more than upset about the ending - that was pathetic! You left us all hanging and wondering what the hell happens with Dan and his kids! There;s o mention of a follow up! It seems to me that you've given up on your writing? I was reading those short story books but I gave up on around book 4 or maybe 5 because they weren't all that good! Since you joined Scare Street, you've lost your 'spark'! Sorry honey, you used to be my favorite author - good luck honey!
The revelation we've awaited throughout this Series arrives...at least in part..leaving protagonist Dan Tate, sufferer of PTSD and OCD, worse than before, physically as well as emotionally and psychologically. Perhaps though, now that he's had the underpinnings of his current status destroyed, he will become more determined than ever to discover the remaining truths about the deaths and destruction in his tiny home community of Anger, New Hampshire, lately very aptly named. Shane Ryan continues to be an important player in this Series, now more so than ever. I only regret the waiting between installments; once the Series completed, I plan to binge-read the Series in consecutive order.
True to form we are introduced to a new ghost. As I have read reviews about this series people have talked about a character from another series. Now that I have met him I will need to read the Berkley Street Series to find out who this Shane Character is. If that series is as good as this I know I will enjoy it. Something else we find out in this book is who is behind controlling Janet. The violence gets worse. Dan's state of mind is worse. The tension is so high I couldn't put the book down. Looking forward to the last book in the series.
NOte: it helps a little to have read the Berkley Street series, as the character in that series makes an appearance here. Anyway, this part of the series starts to bring the story to a head. And some major twists!! Cant wait for the next book!!! Mr. Ripley: thanks for the great stories!! I love your stuff.
when's the next one out. I have to say you are my all time favourite author. I like the way that I feel as if I almost know Dan and his wee clan. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to those that enjoy reading horror/thriller/supernatural books just before bed but, be warned once started you won't be able to put it down.
Wow! Things are heating up in the town of Anger, more Ghosts more deaths and Shane Ryan makes an appearance. I'm still reading the Berkeley Street series I know I'm behind, but this Torture souls series is just to good to wait til I finish all the other ones lol. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.
Dan Tate continues to battle the ghosts and Janet in Anger. Shane Ryan comes to visit a friend from the service. Dan receives a startling revelation. Just keeps getting better and better. Can’t wait for the next book.
I love the characters, the storyline. I can't wait for the next book in this series to be released. If you haven't read this author, you should. Also excellent editing.
This must be the scariest book I have ever read. Kept me enthralled from beginning to end. Had to read it in the daytime, dare not read it at night. Recommend it to anyone who likes 'scary' stories.
Another book in the Ron Ripley Tormented Souls series. It is really dragging on with more and more characters getting added, killed, or removed. In this book Dan Tate gains an ally, Janet gets even greedier, and the story line gets more complicated.
Is my new, and favourite horror writer, and Shane Ryan one of my all time favourite characters. Take a deep dive into all of the Scare Street books, you will find yourself on a fun, and spooky tales of haunting’s where the ghosts you see can kill you.
This started out as to what felt like a bridge book. The very last half shook the whole series up and revealed something I should have caught 3 books back. One more book to go in this story that's got me totally pulled in! Shane Ryan is my kind of not so evil doer!
Dan loves Diane. His heart is lost to her. But it is short who controls the ghosts and will stop at nothing g to exact her revenge, even if it means killing Dan.
I was lucky enough to have gotten a free audio book code from Scare street. I am volunteering to leave this review. Awesome book plenty of twist and turns can not wait to start the final book.
Wow what a read poor Dan got soo much on his plate with growing threats to his children whom he's not allowed contact thanks to him so called wife !And being betrayed by a someone he's very close to.Shane arrives with a mission of his won and gives Dan information on the lay lines (Shane still my favourite)Can't wait for no 6 .
