Bear Shifter Colton has given up on finding his Mate, so he settles for second best, Lion Shifter Shawnee.
He's a happy-go lucky type and a hopeless romantic, she's so wound-up from a very strict upbringing and a disastrous marriage she was sold into by her parents that it's a wonder she doesn't explode.
Colton reckons he needs to find the real woman inside Shawnee's shell; she doesn't think that the real Shawnee exists, she's just who she is supposed to be. “It was her job to mold to his desires, to be whoever he wanted, not the other way around.”
It's a pleasant change from Instalove and rampant sex from the first chapter onwards. I'm sure they'll get around to it but they're taking their time and you can feel the temperature rising between them.
It's incredibly sweet and very heartwarming - Shawnee is so repressed that change only comes at a snails' pace. Colton, however, never gives up.
And when they eventually have sex, it is all the better for the delay, a true case of some things being better when you have to wait for them.
It's a simple story, simply told.
Sometimes you just want to read a story that lifts you and “Colton's Kitty” is just that.

Colton finds his mate
I've loved the character of Colton since he was first introduced in the Big River series. I was happy to see Lynn continue the stories into the Blackwater Clan and that Colton finds His mate. Shawnee definitely turns out to be different than what you would expect after her introduction in Emory's story. I look forward to reading the rest of the Blackwater Clan's stories to see if they find their happy ever afters.

Colton want nothing more then a mate and children to love. But time is passing him by and he still has not found happiness. So he agrees to be paired with Shawnee Baker. Having no idea she is the love of his life. Shawnee agrees to the pairing to prevent be sold off by her family. They are not happy with her choice not only is he not a alpha but he is a bear. Shawnee's pride demands she come back and be sold to a preferred mate. Will Shawnee and Colton have their happy ending?

Nice story
Nice story about two shifters who come together and surmount the females conditioning by her parents to achieve their happily ever after. Loved the supporting characters and would like to read their stories.
