Dragon Fire is book three in the Vale of Stars series by Juliette Cross. Wow! I just have to start with that. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a new book in this series but Juliette managed to take us right back to the world of these amazing half human, half dragon beings called Morgons. We have three different factions in this world. Those that live in Gladium that believe that Morgons and humans should each benefit from the strengths of the other and live in equality and harmony. Those that feel that one or the other is beneath them and should remain segregated. And the third, a band of cultist Morgankind called the Larkosians, ruled by the evil King Larkos, who believes that Morgans are above all and that human’s only place is to serve them.

“Life needs to be ruled by love, not fear.”

Gemma Arterton

Liana Lexington or Sister Liana is who we know her as in the beginning, has been living at the Temple as a Sister of Saint Portia for six years now. She has adjusted to this quiet life of servitude. Then “he” came, the man who has taken up a place in her thoughts in both her wakeful times and in her nightly dreams. While he is healing from his injuries, they have spent many hours together quietly talking about mundane everyday things, and getting to know each other at the same time. Each day that passes, her heart longs for him more, longs for things that she can never have. When he is healed, he will be leaving and she will remain.

“Like a balm to the soul, she eased the tension, the persistent ache that rested between my sternum whenever she was near. It was her touch that soothed it.”

OMG Rys!

Kieren Moonring was brought to the Temple to both heal, and be kept safe, hidden. He never anticipated Sister Liana. He was increasingly drawn to her, needed to be near her. He knew what she had become to him. But he wouldn’t be the reason she left this life she had chosen. He wouldn’t force her to break her vows. When it was safe for him to leave, he would do so, alone, somehow. But for both Kieren and Liana, as a series of events unfolded, the decision was made for them and both of their futures changed course.

“You’ve stolen my mind…”
“Taken my heart without my permission…”
“Ripped my soul right out of my body with those beautiful hands.”
“I didn’t stand a chance. You, with your strong spirit, your easy smile, your gentle touch.”

As the Larkosians spread their evil, killing and taking human women as prisoners, Kieren, Liana, and the others are drawn closer to war. But Liana specifically has gained the attention of Dakian, second only to King Larkos. He wants her for his own, but Kieren will stop at nothing to keep her with him, safe.

This was such a beautiful love story as truths are revealed and Kieren and Liana fall in love. But, it is also an edge of your seat, brutal fight between good and evil, between love and hate. Juliette keeps us gripping our e-readers right up to the last page wondering how this was all going to turn out. I couldn’t put it down.

The war between the good Morgans and the Larkosians will continue in the next book, Hunt of the Dragon, which will be Bowen Huntergild’s story. I hope Juliette is typing fast because I can’t get this book in my little hands fast enough!

Our latest trip to Gladium and the awesomeness which is the Vale of Stars series treats us to Kieren Moonring, recuperating after events of the last book and human, Sister Liana, his own guardian angel who soon ditches one habit for a far sexier one as things at the convent go south.

description ...we lived in two different worlds. Mine didn’t accept his kind, and his kind didn’t accept mine.”

Staying true to her series formula, Juliette Cross brings us a love story which unfolds perfectly as the fight between good and evil rages on. But for all the blood shed along the way, there are those tender moments that take your breath away and passionate steamy interludes as Kieren and Liana lose their hearts to one another and move towards the bond of soulfire.

With the potential for this series continuing to build with each book, I’m excited to see what delights lay in store for the Morgon Guard’s resident assassin and (in my opinion) hottie, Bowen Huntergild in Hunt of the Dragon. I can’t recommend this series enough if you’re a lover of paranormal romance/sexy dragons/fearless ladies/all of the above.

description If he turned away from me now, when I knew my heart was already beating so hard for him, I’d be truly lost.”

Holy freaking Hades!!! I can’t shout out loud enough how much I absolutely loved this book!

When Kieren is left to convalesce at The Temple of Saint Portia, his plan is to return to the Senate House in Cloven to not only argue for his life, but to make them understand that there is an evil that is threatening humans and Morgons alike. But as each day passes his thoughts are less on the world outside the safety of the convent and linger far too willingly on the sweet and pretty Sister Liana. When the time arrives for him to leave his heart aches for what he will be leaving behind.

”My body was strong, even if I’d taken on a new injury since I’d been here. A sweet wound in the shape of Sister Liana.”

description

Liana did not choose to live her life cloistered within the walls of the temple, but she has found a certain amount of peace there despite the fact that she will never find solace from the burden that she carries. For the last several months however, even that peace has been disturbed as her thoughts and eyes travel far too often to the beautiful man she has helped to care for. But when a lifelike dream turns into a nightmare, she realizes that she may have the opportunity to live a different life.

” Now, I was a planet tilted off its axis. A brighter sun had appeared in my system, pulling me away from the world I knew before. All else paled in comparison to the magnificent Morgon man standing before me.”

description

Kieren was absolutely EVERYTHING that I love in a hero! His body, mind and soul have only one purpose and that is to protect Liana. I was giddy with romantic joy each time his protective instincts showcased themselves, but when he got possessive…holy heck! I was left in a swoony puddle of goodness.

”I couldn’t explain it if I tried. Why the dominant animal that lived inside me needed her near me, within my protection, like I needed air in my lungs. It was older than time, this savage compulsion. If I’d been a true dragon like my ancestors, and not half human, I would’ve already tucked her beneath me, spread my wings in a show of dominance, and melted them with a breath of fire. But Morgons were more civilized, so I pretended I didn’t want to maim them for looking too appreciatively at Liana, keeping her close to my side.”

description

While Liana is a docile, quiet and obedient Sister of Light, when things take a turn, she is more than strong enough to face it front on. She is a wonderful heroine in that she has the strength and courage to do what needs to be done while still maintaining that sweetness. And when the time comes to take a stand for what she needs and wants, she is fierce in her demands.

description

Together this couple were just so perfect. Everything about them felt as though there were no other way for them to go. Nothing felt contrived or overdone. Even when they each had to make decisions that could affect how the other might view them, the author did not use a heavy hand which helped their changing relationship to feel as though there were no other way it could’ve have gone.

This is a relatively fast paced read with lots of action and I wouldn’t have skimmed if my life depended on it. The chemistry and heat between Liana and Kieren was heart pounding, meltingly believable. There are plenty of secondary characters that all played important roles, several who we’ve met before and that I loved seeing again.

It’s no secret I’ve loved every one of the books in this series, but this is by far the best of them!

Kieren, an injured dragon shifter took refuge at the human convent where Liana is a Sister of Light, and his mate. Kieren believes their love is forbidden and just when you think he has to walk away, trouble follows him to the convent. His sole focus is protecting his mate, even if he can't have her.

I'm a sucker for a good forbidden love story. This author did a really good job of portraying the yearning both Kieren and Liana have for each other. The dream walking was pretty hot and now I really want to know what other gifts these dragons have.

I'm kicking myself for not reading the previous books in the series first. This is a pretty exciting dragon series where the start of a war breaks out in this book. I can see there was build up to it in previous books that I need to find out more information on. Thankfully, I didn't feel lost when it came to Kieren and Liana.

There were multiple characters that I'm really intrigued about. In fact, I felt the whole cast of characters were an interesting lot. I'm pretty excited to go back to book one and learn more. And well....dragons. Enough said!

Dragon Fire is book three of the Vale of Stars series by Juliette Cross. This novel is hauntingly beautiful. The romance is sweet and builds over time.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a new book in the Vale of Stars series, but Juliette Cross managed to take us right back to the world of these amazing half human, half dragon beings called Morgons. I love Cross’s Morgans and I get so excited for each new installment that comes out.

Kieran was wounded in Waking the Dragon while protecting and saving Kol's mate from one of the Larkos dragons. He’s sent off to the a human convent to heal, recuperate, and hide from the Larkos hunting him.

Liana is a Sister at the convent and has been living as a Sister of Saint Portia for six years. She’s adjusted and accepted this life until Kieran comes to the convent. Then all she can think about his him and life outside.

The romance is a nice slow burn. Kieran knows what Liana is to him, but he’s decided that he won’t be the reason she forsakes her vows as a Sister. Their’s more to Liana, her history, and why she’s a Sister. We soon learn her past as events unfold and both, Kieran and Liana’s, futures change.

As the story progress things are drawing closer to war. We’re treated to brutal fight scenes between good and evil, love and hate. The author keeps us on the edge of our seats and entranced up to the last page.

Dragon Fire is full of action and passion. I can’t wait for the next installment.

** Trigger Warning: I wanted to put out their that this novel might have some triggers. We have one chapter near the begging that showcase a scene of rape and abuse. (I cringed while reading.) In this scene it’s The Larkos Army, our bad Morgans, doing what they do; enslaving the week, capturing human women, and working towards the goal of ruling the world.

Sweet Mother, Mary, and Joseph! Kieren Moonring has done fallen for a Sister... or has he? Sister Liana has been aiding in his recovery, going on long walks and sharing shy glances with red checks for awhile now. Is she all that she seems? Hold on to your dragon Moonring, things are about to get heated.

“My dragon uncurled from his slumber, stretching and sniffing the air, a thrumming growl of satisfaction filling my chest. Yes. Liana was looking at me with desire.”

I loved this latest addition to the Vale of Stars series. The cunning and mysterious ways author Juliette Cross has in her writing ability is phenomenal. She keeps you invested and anticipating the next book as soon as you finish the last. I want more flights, more intrigue, and more saucy banter between brothers and allies. My smirky smile was firmly in place while reading.

As always my kindle bleed blue with so many highlights. As a reviewer its always a pleasure to have a deep well to pull from in the quotes and passages of a book. Cross always delivers.

“I need you…like the sun needs the sky.—Like the stars need the night.—Like a dragon needs flight.”

This was an ok addition to the series, but one that didn’t ensnare my attention as previous books did, part of me thought this may be due to sleep deprivation, so I did do some re-reading, but I still wasn’t as gripped as I would have liked to be.

Kieran the brother of Kol was wounded in a battle protecting and saving his brother’s mate from, and now recuperates from his injuries at the Sisterhood of Light Convent. It is here he meets liana, or should I say Sister liana. His craving for her is fierce, but due to the target on his back and her role as a Sister, he tries to keep a tight rein on his desire, enjoying her company until he is well enough to leave. liana has her reasons for joining the convent and they are not what Kieran thinks, and she to feels an attraction to the hot Morgon man she finds herself spending time with. The passion between the two did ripple of the page well, I just didn’t find myself eagerly reading this as previous books. The main characters didn’t worm their way under my skin, although I did like them. One book in the series I know I won’t be re-reading.

***5 ‘You’ve Stolen My Mind’ Stars***

So. Much. Goodness.

Not that I’m surprised. I mean ever since reading the first book in this world I was hooked...the history, the images of just what a world populated not only by humans, but dragon hybrids would look like and the characters themselves...I swear I fall deeper and deeper in love with them (the good, not crazy psycho ones ~ though I will state that I do reserve the right to fall for a crazy psycho one if he turns out to be the good kind in the end ~ just sayin’) with each book and this one served up a whole bunch of the goodness! Alpha AF males with a whole lot of heart, fiery females who can handle their business when necessary, a whole bunch of smexy and some gut churning crazy that had me wincing a time or two, but mixed all together kept me turning the pages until the very end!

Kieren and Liana were so much fun and I simply adored them. Kieren is the much, much less grumpy and growly twin of Kol (whom I also adore) but has just as much honor and a need to do the right thing, even if it hurts. He was all kinds of Alpha AF charming and protective and when the dragon came out to play...well, things definitely got interesting. Liana or “Sister Liana” was definitely an enigma at the start for various reasons. But as the her own story unfolds what I saw, and loved, was a woman who cared deeply and would do all she could the protect those that needed it.

As for their journey to their HEA, I loved the slow burn goodness of it because there were a variety of reasons, most of them quite valid, behind both of them hesitating to take the steps to becoming more than just friends. But it did give them the time to get to know each other and make the growing connection between them even stronger and hotter, so when that very necessary step was taken (thanks to a little bit of meddling) it was all kinds of explosive. There isn’t a lot of angsty-ness going on between them, push/pull yes, but angst? No, but that is mostly due to the life and death gauntlet they find themselves in and there were definitely moments were the anxiety was kicked up a few notches, but I loved how everything worked out for them in the end.

As always (broken #fangirl record time) the writing was engaging and the pacing was very good, as were the multiple first person POV’s. And as for the the whole psychocrazy Larkos/Larkosians story arc, things just got a lot crazier and the stakes just got higher for all involved and I’m totally looking forward to seeing where it all takes us. And then there are the supporting cast of characters. I loved catching up with the Nightwing and Moonring crew and all those that are loyal to them, a few were missing but hopefully we’ll catch a glimpse or two of them in future books. Bastian and Bowen are still the two I’m most fascinated by of the non-mate crew and Madera and Rafe have now been added to that list, but no matter who the next one to fall is, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

Note: These books are not standalones and should be read in order.

Well. I have literally only just finished this book and I'm already feeling a little lost, quite alone, rocking the worst book hangover I've had in a while and depressed the next book isn't out yet. You know those memes showing a person wondering why the world is continuing when you've just finished reading a book and wonder why no one understands your loss? That's me right now. ME. I don't know where to start reviewing this book because it's just THAT GOOD. Cross sets up the MCs and their growing attraction really nicely before racking up the sexual, emotional and plot tension and there's no way you can tell just where she's taking the overarching plot. Also get to meet the rest of the gang again. Basically * grabby hands * give me the next book woman.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

I'll be completely honest here. I read this as a BETA reader months ago. I fell in love with it then, and now that this book is about to drop, I re-read it. To be honest, I can literally count how many books I've re-read (for pleasure) on one hand. That's how amazing this book is. It's another reason I gave it 5 stars. Any book that can get me to enjoy it twice within months is THAT AMAZING!!!

For those who have read the first two books in this series, you know exactly who Kieren Moonring is. He's the twin brother to Kol. He's also the same brother who saved Moira, suffering his own life threatening injuries while doing so. Due to the nature of his injuries, the best place for him to heal and hide was at a human convent. But healing his injuries was the least of his worries, because it seems as though the gods had a sick sense of humor and he'd soon need to figure out how to heal his heart.

Sister Liana is just that. A Sister of the convent Kieren is healing at. Over the last months, she's helped him with his recovery, walked the gardens with him and has even enjoyed conversations. But it's the dreams she'd have of him that she cherished most. The dreams in which she was allowed to be the woman she once was, before she altered her life forever. If she only had the courage to explain things to Kieren, could her dreams become reality?

There are so many layers to this story. Between the character back stories, the Larkosians still on the prowl for humans and finding out who the mole was, I was flipping these pages like my life depended on it. I swear that this author has a way of pulling me so far in to the story, I feel as though I'm actually one of the characters.

If you're looking for a Paranormal story with lots of suspense, lust and adventure, this is the series for you. I just can't get enough of these Morgon men!!!!! I need more!!!!

First I want to say THANK YOU to the amazing Juliette Cross for giving me an E-Arc of this beauty for an honest review!!

Now I will scream it out loud, I Freakin’ LOVED this book!

Never a dull moment in these paranormal romances that Juliette gives to us! As I continue along in this series I fall more and more in luv with the world and every single character!

Dragon Fire focuses on Kieren, brother to Kol and Valla, and Sister Liana. There is non stop action and a slow burn romance, but of course, it’s hot and steamy once it gets going!

This series overall is amazing and so are all the others Juliette has put out.. if you haven’t read them yet, you should start ASAP!

Loved, loved, loved!!!

One thing I know for sure... Juliette Cross writes some kickass paranormal stories. SERIOUSLY. When I’m reading her books, I never want them to end!!!

Not only is this world she created amazingly awesome and easy to visualize, the characters are strong and fierce and complex and lovable and so well-developed and I just want be friends with all of them. Annnnd maybe climb a few of them like a tree. I won’t even apologize for that comment because these Morgon men are hot AF.

Taken to a convent to heal from serious wounds, Kieren finds himself drawn to one of the Sisters. But being with her in the way he craves is wrong. Very wrong. He knows this. And SHE knows this. Best of luck trying to keep these two apart.

Liana is at the convent for a reason. But it’s not the reason Kieren thinks. The chemistry sparks and sizzles and explodes between these two. The sexual tension so delicious and thick, I could cut it with a knife.

I loved Liana. She’s brave, she’s a fighter, and she’s fierce when she needs to be. She should never be underestimated. Quite the badass in a stola.

This book gave me all the feels I had in the other books. The ones I loved, and craved, and needed. Every single emotion imaginable.
Passion,
heartache,
lust,
swoony butterflies,
those lovely tingles...down there.
And the burning...holy hotness, I swear I could feel their soulfire!

So vividly and expertly penned, I felt like I was watching a movie play out in front of me. I felt as if I was in the middle of those battles, or flying while wrapped in Kieren’s arms, feeling the wind in my hair, while strapped tightly against his big, 7-foot frame, all muscly and hard and sexy and staring into his beautiful dragon eyes...oh, oops...sorry, I digress. Anyway, I could easily imagine everything.

The mystery and suspense continue in this third book of the Vale of Stars series. The nail biting goodness kept me guessing all the while turning the pages. I love this series hard!

I need more!!

If you want sexy-sweet, chemistry-laden, all-out action-filled fantasy romance, Ms. Cross is the way to go. In Dragon Fire, Kieren Moonring finally falls head over wings, and to none other than a lovely sister in the convent where he’s been recovering from the last fight.

I’ve freaking loved Kieren, especially when he went all out to protect his brother’s mate. Now he has his own mate to protect, but things are not so simple. It’s not only that he’s now a wanted man and could be facing blade justice, but he just can’t claim sweet Liana. He was fierce, protective and had a lovely possessive streak a mile wide. He could also kick some serious ass: Morgon male perfection, people.

I loved how Liana was more than what met the eyes. She was one tough cookie and wasn’t afraid to give her all when it was necessary. I absolutely adored watching her melt Kieren’s walls.

I really liked how we get some downtime at the beginning of the story to really connect to Kieren and Liana and witness them realize their feelings for each other. And once the action starts full force, it was impossible to put down.

I must confess that the lack of open communication between a couple drives me crazy, and there was a bit of this with Liana not wanting to reveal her past as well as Kieren withholding Morgon-stuff from Liana. It came to the point where I wanted to sit them both in front of me and bitch slap the truth out of them. Fortunately, they realized they were in impending danger and opened up… eventually.

Action packed, sexy and suspenseful, Dragon Fire is an excellent addition to this most fabulous series. I strongly advise reading these books from the very start (as in the Nightwing novellas) for maximum character and story arc enjoyment. Now, there’s a certain baby dragon in the loose that I’m really curious about, so please Ms. Cross, get cracking on the writing :P

"We're Never promised tomorrow, Kieren. I won't live the past or in the 'what ifs' that could end our future. I want you here and now, for as long as I can have you."

Juliette Cross, the goddess of PNR did it again. And how incredibly, sensually and wonderfully she did.

When I say I adore Juliette's every book, you might think I am just exaggerating but hear me out. She is one of the most articulate and lyrical authors I know who can also bring you all the joy of romance in the most natural way. Nothing is forced with her writing. Everything flows and continues to enchant me.

Now this piece of art is the third book in the Vale of Stars series where we met those beautiful Morgon hotties. I don't want to say anyone's name because this book is all about sensual Kieren.

When I first met him in the second book, he was all flirty and smiley, and oh so charming. Now in this book you meet him out of his element, burning with soulfire and trapped in his own head. He was charming and he was the same Kieren, however, the events of the past book (You gotta read to find out) subdued him and broke him. I don't think he lost his shine but he certainly needed some polishing which BTW needed to be done by our beautiful Sister of Saint Portia, LIANA.

Now Liana was a wonderful character. She had her own struggles and monsters. However, she was willing to overcome everything in order to be with the only man she is destined to be.

In this book we meet again our favorite characters from the previous books. I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD!!!!!

I don't want it to end;(

Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely!! It is a true treasure and I am especially excited for the next book which is about a very hot and agile Morgon man. He WILL going to bring the heat to the next level. I have a greattttt feeling about him :P

Another amazing book in the Vale of Stars series! This one was actually my favourite so far.

Kieran Moonring is hidden away to recover after his last battle with the Blood King's group, the Larkosians, where he discovers Sister Liana of the Sisters of Light temple. She turns out to be more than meets the eye but she's off limits so Kieran must keep his distance and leave as soon as he is able. He doesn't get away before he is found by the Larkosians but he is able to fight for Liana and take her away with him, for now. Through it all Liana proves to be braver than Kieran expects of a Sister of Light which has him questioning whether to return her to her calling or claim her as his dragons wants.

I loved the chemistry between Kieren and Liana and really enjoyed getting her story. It's a fast paced read with lots of action and characters from the previous books that I always enjoy getting more about.

I can't wait to see where this series goes from here!

This series is one of my favourites! Cross has beautifully written Dragon Fire. From the first scene I was hooked and couldn't put it down. This rich world is so much fun, easy to follow, and will definitely leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I truly believe Cross writes some of the strongest and most fun heroines, and Liana was no different. She was no damsel, but she also had her weak spots and flaws. Kieren was the same. While he was smart, strong, sexy, and so deliciously protective of Liana, he wasn't indestructible. The stakes were high in this one, setting up for some seriously dark times ahead. I cannot wait to see where Cross takes this series next.

I most definitely recommend this to readers who enjoy strong heroines, sexy alpha males, an intricate, well thought out world, and an incredible love story to cheer for. Definitely start at the beginning, you won't regret it.

This was so amazingly romantic I had a hard time actually doing work during the day! I wanted to get back to the book so badly that I was reading in between assignments and read all through my lunch break. I felt an instant connection to the hero and heroine, and my heart was beating wildly every time they had a scene together. Their attraction was so poignant and lovely, and I really couldn't ask for a better romance than this. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and I wondered if this one would top it - and oh, boy, did it! I want my own Morgon man. Anytime now...I am waiting patiently.

Sister Liana hasn't been able to stop thinking about the handsome Morgon man being sheltered at the convent. But she has a secret she's been hiding that would make a relationship between them impossible. With smoldering eyes and a charming smile, Kieren Moonring is slowly winning Liana's heart, and he knows he has found something special in the shy, kind sister who has been nursing him back to health. But his life is in danger, and in admitting to his desire for her, he could be putting her in danger too. Even though he fights it, his feelings for her grow stronger, and when tragedy strikes, they are thrown together. Sparks fly and a love long smothered ignites into a fire that cannot be denied.

I felt so many emotions as I read about both Liana's past and Kieren's love for her. It was so beautiful, how they fought it for so long and came together in their dreams. Morgons of the Moonring clan have the ability to dreamwalk, and so their romance began long before Liana realized it was not just a figment of her hopes and imagination. And when their pasts became known to each other, it was inspiring to see how they worked through things and healed together, as a unit. Their relationship was so strong and had a lot of depth from the very beginning. There was a particular scene that I really enjoyed, and it was one of hugging. As a hugger myself, I can personally attest to how it feels when you get a hug after not having one for a very long time. It's so comforting and soothing, and Juliette Cross did a fantastic job conveying the emotion such simple affection between two people. The writing was beautiful.

I can't wait to see where this series goes from here! Each book seems to be better than the last, and I am eager to see where the author takes us next.

**I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.**

The Larkosians are dragon hybrid's but follow a ruthless dragon who wants to take over and bend the Morgon's and humans to their will. They plan on starting a war and they are cold blooded killers willing to do whatever it takes in order to win.

Kieren had been staying at a convent for a few months after being attacked by the Larkosians. While there he met a nun, sister Liana who he feels things for that he shouldn't. But the crazy thing is, she feels things for him as well.

The Morgon and Larkosians are a dragon hybrid race. But the Larkosians were not peaceful like the Morgon's were but even some of the Morgon's didn't like humans yet and wanted to stay separated from them.

Kieren had stayed at the monastery for months while he healed from his wounds and in that time he had truly and fully fallen for Liana. He didn't speak of what happened to him or why he had to leave and when it came time, leaving was really the last thing he wanted to do because of her. He promised to write and she promised to write him back when he left. They both had secrets they kept hidden from the other but that didn't stop the feelings from developing between them. But right before he could leave, a bunch of Larkosians invaded the convent trying to take the nuns as slaves.

Kieren and Liana hold up with some of Liana's friends when they escape. When Kieran talks with his brother, Kol he tells him what happened and Kol is able to convince him to bring Liana back home with him because she's a witness to what happened at the convent. There's some political problems going on in Kieran and Kol's Senate and they are hoping that Liana's witness testimony along with the help of some of the Senators who aren't corrupt will help bring down the corrupt Senators who seem to be helping the Larkosians or are at least not trying to stop them.

But they aren't as safe as they thought they would be and danger seems to come at them several times. Plus there's a traitor in their midst that they have to trick this person to come out where they can catch him. The danger doesn't seem like it's going to go away easily and there's definitely a war between all the different dragon hybrid's coming.

This series has been so good and I am definitely going to keep reading these books.

My desk is empty of library books and my KU shelf is shockingly low on books (except for the TBR challenge stuff; i.e. stuff that's been there forever), so what do I do? I go trolling through series/authors that I'd decided I wasn't going to read again. You know, purely for something to tide me over until my next reading decision. I know I said that I was done with this author. But I was curious to see how the whole Dragon King story panned out. Unfortunately, that plot moved along, but wasn't finished, in this book.

What I did get was what I've come to expect from Juliette Cross: a safe read with no OP drama, a stuttering/stammering/mute heroine who can't seem to form complete sentences around a totally hot hero, a lot (too much, really) smexy times, a little bit of overarching story line, and the end. I was surprised and please by how long it actually took the MCs to consummate their, er, mating. Usually these kinds of books have them jump into it right away. So that was nice. However, I wanted more dragons! And less intimate scenes. I skimmed over all of them and it made things go so quickly. I might read the next one just to see what happens with the Dragon King, but we'll see. If the story isn't finished in the next book, I might just mark this series as a dnf.

Verdict: not memorable, a fun and easy way to pass the time.

In a continuation of the Vale of Stars series, Kieran Moonring discovers Sister Liana of the Sisters of Light temple is more than meets the eye. Evil continues to brew in this next installment of Juliette Cross’s Morgon world. Through it all Liana proves to be braver than Kieran expects of a Sister of Light. A must read for fans of half-dragon heroes. This is a stand-alone romance but I would suggest reading in order.

He’s been hiding in the last place his Morgon enemies might find Kieren Moonring while he recovers from his injuries. She can’t stop or disguise her growing attraction for the man hiding in her their convent, not to mention that Sister Liana has past that is best kept buried. When Kieren’s greatest fear comes true and his enemies target Liana, he will murder the whole world to keep her safe.

This gripping 'Vale of Stars' romance is full of stunning twist that not only knock the Morgon and human world to their knees but the readers as well because this story holds them spellbound and the strong, vivid characters demand readers’ complete attention. The romance of this story has Kieren falling more and more for Liana but she is a Sister in the convent which means she is forbidden but Liana holds a deep dark secret that could change everything or make him want nothing to do with her, which keeps this HEA is suspense as well as keeping emotions high and the passions burning hotter and hotter throughout.

Exhilarating suspense builds throughout this fast paced plot with lots excitement, thrills and some really stunning twists that takes readers by surprise. The story is so vividly descriptive with all the wonderfully unique and fascinating characters that readers have to come to love that it easily captures the imagination and brings to it life so that readers thoroughly immerse themselves into the story from beginning to end.

Dragon Fire by Juliette Cross is the 3rd book in her Vale of Stars series. I could not wait to get my hands on this book, as I have come to expect a fantastic story from Juliette Cross, every time. I have read all her book, and each and everyone of them have been exciting, action packed, sexy and simply fantastic. I am happy to say that I loved Dragon Fire.

In Dragon Fire, Kieran Moonring, our hero, is recovering from serious injuries he suffered when saving his brother’s mate in the last book of this series. Kieran is a wanted man, having killed a powerful senator’s son and has been hidden at the Sisters of the Light convent, where he has been healing for many months. Kieran knows he can never become involved with any of the sisters, though he finds himself very attracted to one of them.

Liana, has been the main caretaker for Kieran, and finds herself having difficulty in fighting off her attraction to him. Kieran has decided it is time for him to return home and face the charges against him, as well as join the fight to stop the Blood King Larkos and his Larkosians. He also knows he can longer stay around Liana, as his dragon also wants to keep her as their mate. Liana has dreams about Kiernan, which she does not know is part of his dreams too.

But before he leaves, all hell breaks loose as the Larkosians have attacked the convent, and Kieran was able to get Liana and himself to safety. As he quickly grabs Liana, she sees the evil of these man who are brutally raping, killing or kidnapping the other sisters. Kiernan gets help from one of his brother’s men, and he is able to bring Liana back to Kol’s (last book hero) house, in the safety of his Morgon family and friends. Liana will learn the truths of the evil outside the convent; become friends with the mates from earlier books, as well as try to push Kiernan to succumb to their feelings. The chemistry between them was scorching hot, and started burning the pages ( ok I do read on a kindle 😊), especially with the possible onset of soulfire. I really loved them together. Things do progress between them when Liana explains that she is not a true sister, but was forced to stay at the convent as punishment for killing the man who killed her father.

What follows is a very exciting, action packed adventure that will bring back many of our favorites from the first two books, as well as from the original Nightwing series. I loved seeing them all. Just when they face the senate to free Kiernan from the charges, the evil Blood King and his Larkanians attack to take over the senate. As the Morgon men join hands to fight off the enemy, Liana’s finds herself in a horrific dangerous situation that will have us holding our breaths. Will either Kiernan or Liana survive?

Dragon Fire was a fascinating read, from start to finish. Liana and Kiernan were a super couple, and it was great to spend time all the other super people we met previously This is a wonderful series that you should not miss. Juliette Cross has once again created another wonderful story that has a bit of everything; hot sexy couple; action, suspense, great secondary characters, evil villains and excellent writing. Dragon Fire was wild, crazy exciting, action packed and steamy adventure. If you have not read Juliette Cross, what are you waiting for?

Oh Man, I just love the way Juliette Cross does a growly dragony alpha male. I got interrupted reading this one due to things going crazy at work... so I actually restarted it this morning on my flight to New Orleans so I would get the full effect of Kieran Moonring from start to finish. It totally made my early morning flight go by in a blink.

So our fated mate heroine in this installment is actually somewhat like a nun, Liana Lexington, or Sister Liana, of the Order of Saint Portia. Liana's reasons for being at the cloister are mysterious, but she seems to have dedicated herself to the religious purpose quite well... until she meets a Morgon male, who has appeared at Primus shrouded in his own mystery. Liana was drawn to Kieran from the start, and they often sought out each other's company as he convalesced. I thought Liana made a good heroine - she was sweet and reserved, but she also had a backbone when she needed it. I can't say too much about her character as I was too focused on our hero to pay very close attention, but it says a lot that I didn't want to scratch her eyes out. :P

So now, the most important part, our dragon hybrid hero, Kieran Moonring. You may recall Kieran from the earlier books... he's a senator, brother to Kol Moonring, and killed Baron Coalglass in order to save Kol's mate, Moira. I don't think Kieran would have been content to stay in Primus as he healed were it not for his attraction to Liana, but he was undeniably drawn to her and couldn't help seeking her out in both the waking and dream worlds. So Kieran is torn between his duty and need to mete out justice to the Larkosians, and his desire to stay with Liana. But when danger finds them in Primus, Kieran's beast won't allow him to leave Liana in danger. I loved Kieran, just as I have loved all of Juliette's Morgon males. They are the perfect mix of alpha possessiveness and tenderness, treat their women like they hung the moon, and take care of business in every aspect you can imagine.

So you will want to read the Nightwing Security and Vale of Stars series in order, as there is a continuing storyline. I have enjoyed watching this Morgon vs. Morgon battle - our good guys vs. the Larkosian cult, who think that humans should be subjugated as lesser beings. Things have continued to heat up through each installment, but things really come to an undeniable head in this book and have me on tenterhooks for what's coming next!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the author... but I also purchased my own copy because well, it's Juliette Cross!

After wounded in battle saving Kol’s mate, Moira, Kieren Moonring is sequestered in a convent of human nuns. The last place enemies and allies would think to look for him, Kieren heals his broken body while fighting the demons in his mind. Luckily for him, one nun keeps his mind off those hunting for him, even if only for a minute.

Sister Lilian is fascinated by the Morgon man taking refuge in their protected convent. Uncomfortable with her growing attraction to Kieren, she’s even more uncomfortable with him discovering her less than honorable past. She has secrets that no one would understand.

When Kieren’s enemies come knocking on the convent door, he’s forced to flee, making sure to take the one thing with him he wants and needs the most….Liana. Thrust into the Morgon world, and what that means for a human, scares Liana but losing Kieren terrifies her. Together they must figure out who in the Morgan court is betraying them to the enemy before anyone else is kidnapped or killed.

Holy cows is Juliette Cross a master at writing dragon romances – actually, anything she’s written, really. I love all her books. They are filled with passion, realism, and chemistry. I was engaged from the start and couldn’t put the book down. Her ability to create paranormal stories with romance, action and a solid plot is what keeps me coming back.

I enjoyed the slow-burn between Kieren and Liana. The story is fast-paced but not so fast you miss things or events seem rushed. The continued tie-in to Blood King Larkos and his evil intent kept me on the edge of my seat as the Morgons and their beloved humans strive to free those captured and end the reign of the Blood King. The ending of this book has me eagerly waiting to see where we go in book 4.

I love the world this author has built, and was happy to see another book set in the Morgon world. While you can definitely read this one without having read the others in her series, I highly recommend reading the previous ones. The character back story and details about the world adds to the fun.

This book seemed hotter than the others. Not complaining, lol. I liked that Liana really strayed from the typical romance heroine and had her own surprises. This is a fun, sexy read!
