How to Seduce a Bad Boy

Rate this book
Melody Bryant has heard it all before. Sure, she's the epitome of the stereotype for a librarian. Loves order. Loves rules and deadlines. Loves books. But what she doesn't love is still being a virgin at twenty-four. Unfortunately, the only guy she's ever been interested in turned her down flat. And then left town. Eight. Years. Ago. Ugh.

Now her birthday is fast approaching and she just can't take it any longer. She's finding a guy before her birthday in five weeks or she's adopting two more cats and fully embracing becoming "the crazy cat lady."

But when her latest date ends in epic failure--everyone thinks of her as the "proper librarian," she realizes what she needs is to ruin her reputation. And she knows the perfect guy to help the baddest bad boy in town. This Army vet won't know what hit him...

HOW TO SEDUCE A BAD BOY by Traci Douglas is a contemporary romance with an entertaining heroine who wants major life changes by her 25th birthday and a bad boy hero home from the service.

Melody Bryant loves being a librarian in her hometown, but she wants to break out of the stereotype. Her 25th birthday is in a few weeks and she has decided it is time for a makeover, which also includes her personal life. She has only every loved one bad boy who is her brother’s best friend. Before he left for the Army eight years ago, she offered him her virginity and was turned down. Now she has plans to get rid of her virginity and seduce the bad boy.

Adam Foster has always had a bad reputation in his hometown. He was abandoned by his mother and his father was a drunk. Lucky for him he made a friend who saw past his family and befriended him as a brother. He was entranced by his friend’s little sister and was always protective. After eight years, he is home and building up the car repair shop he and his friends always dreamed of owning. When Melody comes to him and asks for his help with men, what else can he do but agree to date her himself to protect his friend’s little sister once again.

Melody has five weeks before her birthday to lose her virginity and get the bad boy she has always loved.

I really enjoyed Melody and her journey of change. I cheered for her to finally get her man. Adam was a not-so bad boy whose protectiveness of Melody made him endearing, but I would have preferred much less inner dialogue on how he was not good enough for Melody. The plot is not new and had no new twists, but it was fun to watch this relationship develop. The chemistry between these two was well written without explicit sex scenes. An entertaining romance read that has secondary characters with the potential for future spin-off books.

How to Seduce a Bad Boy was a fun, entertaining, and interesting twist for falling for your best friends sister...with a uniquely choreographed plot to win the man she's always loved. Douglass has created a contemporary romance that provides a marvelous book-cation.

DNF at 25%.

I love a good trope as much as the next reader but this cliche-ridden romance had nothing to engage me.

Melody Bryant is that cliche, the small-town virgin librarian in love with her brother's BFF, the former military man now running an auto shop, Adam Foster. For his part, Adam knows his friend would never accept him dating the kooky but lovely Melody. When Melody begs Adam to teach her about men and dating he refuses but is conflicted, then her BFF gives her a makeover, puts her in a short dress and pow! Melody is a stunner but all Adam can see is her short skirt.

Yawn, irritation and yawn again. There is honestly nothing new, no new angle, nothing even likable about Melody or Adam, just crudely drawn stock characters and tired storylines.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

HOW TO SEDUCE A BAD BOY is the story of Melody Bryant and Adam Foster.
Melody is the town librarian who is of course bookish but she still has her innocents that she would like to shed. But the only one that has ever gotten her to feel something to move forward in that directions is her brother's best friend. But when she approaches him he doesn't want to cross that line with her brother friendship. But when he sees that she is changing her looks and looking for that change to her innocents he can't stop feel that she is his.
I really enjoyed their story and the good girl turning the 'bad boy' to no longer ignore his feelings.
I hope to read more from this author!

Traci Douglass is a new to me author. I’m happy to say I have found a new author to read. How to Seduce a Bad Boy was definitely an enjoyable read. The story combines two of my favorite troupes, best-friend/sibling and friends-to-lovers. The result is a sweet romance with likeable characters and the start of a new series.

Melody Bryant is the epitome of prim-and-proper. The twenty-four-year-old is the local librarian. She rocks twinsets and pearls like she’s someone’s grandmother. She even has a cat that she carries on conversations with. By all accounts, she seems to be happy. Melody would be over the moon if her dating life wasn’t in the toilet. After yet another disastrous date, Melody is ready to shake things up. She vows to be a different person by her birthday, and that includes losing her v-card. When Melody hears the roar of a Softail Fatboy, she knows just the person to turn her from prim-and-proper to a bad girl. “Let Project Seduce Adam Foster begin.”

Adam Foster has served his country and gained a little respect from the good people of Point Beacon, Indiana. Now this Army vet is back and starting up a new auto repair business with his best friend James Bryant, Melody's older brother. James is still in Afghanistan and since Adam arrived home before him, he asks Adam to look after Melody and his family until he returns. When Melody asks Adam to help her ruin her reputation, he knows he should stay away. But not wanting her to be taken advantage of he agrees. Over the course of helping Melody change her appearance and gain confidence in social settings, Adam’s resolve starts to waiver. Soon, Melody is even more in love with Adam and he's kicking himself for having his own feelings. When their secret fling is discovered, the two are going to have to decide if being together is worth risking everything.

I'm a huge Entangled Publishing fan and I read various imprints from them. Their Brazen line is spicy and tends to be open door. I found How to Seduce a Bad Boy to have a Brazen feel, but without the bad words or dirty talk. For me, this was a sweet Brazen book. Melody, Adam, and the secondary characters are great and easy to like. Melody and Adam seem to see more in each other than those around them do. When you talk about love completing you, that’s so true of these two. They are already good people, but when they are together, their goodness shows.

I liked that the story ended with the potential to see Melody and Adam in future books. In fact, I’m envisioning this being at least a three book series. The four people I see making up the future two couples are definitely going to be fun to watch.

Cute book - not too steamy and fun. I loved that she was a librarian!

Merged review:

My Opinion:

I totally enjoyed this book. Mel is the hardworking librarian that needs to get out of her comfort zone and get into the dating scene. She is having a problem with getting men to pay her any attention and she is sick of it. So she devises a little plan to get what she wants. Get out of her old routine and get into the guy she has loved forever arms. Family friend Max is pretty cool and is a military vet, he has a shop where he employs only vets - totally loved that. Mel has her sights set on her brothers best friend - Adam. Of course, Adam has feelings for Mel but is afraid of them, he is afraid of everything it seems. Adam devises a bunch of barriers and it gets to be too much and you just want them to get together already. Sometimes I wanted to just shake them both (in a good way).

This is a very sweet book and there is a lot of pushing for these two to get together already and stay that way. I didn't like all the cat and mouse with this but I did enjoy them trying so hard. I think Adam could have had some better excuses when it came to Mel - all of them were just dull and dumb to me. They are both adults and can make their own decisions as far as her family and her brother - who needed to mind his own business - concerns.

Other than that the romance scenes are steamy but they are no explicit so you won't have to cover your eyes but there is enough of a romance to keep them open. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would like to read the next in the series! Overall this was a quick fun book to read for me.

I give this book 4 of 5 stars!

This is a cute contemporary romance where Melody Bryant, the girl next door, is the younger sister of his best friend and so totally off limits . . . . if only they weren't so attracted to each other! He is Army veteran, Adam Foster, and he turned her down eight years ago before signing up but now he's back in town, as hot as ever and just the person she needs to help her ruin her reputation as the prim and proper librarian who never lets her hair down . . . .

It is a fun read, with laugh out loud incidents as he continues to try to keep barriers between them but is oh so tempted! He is torn between his need to help her, his determination not to ruin his friendship with her brother and his own conscience where he just doesn't believe himself to be "good enough" for her. Melody, however, has her own agenda - and that includes no longer being a virgin when she turns twenty-five in just five weeks time . . . and her determination to enlist the help of Adam in achieving her goal. When she asks Adam for help with men, he just has to agree to date her to help protect his friend's sister - doesn't he?

Get ready for temptation, resistance, dilemmas, intrigue and romance in this fun read which I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone who enjoys reading contemporary, second chance romances with a side helping of humour and a brother/best friend on the side lines! It is the first book in a new series and I'm now looking forward to reading more about Point Beacon in future.

Loved this book! Melody thinks she'll be a spinster crazy cat lady librarian.....at the ripe old age of 25, so she propositions her brother's best friend, Adam, to help her change her style and her life. Adam has always been attracted to Melody, but as the town's resident bad boy and her brother's best friend, he's stayed away. When Melody put him on the spot, he said no, but then was afraid of what trouble she'd get into if she propositioned someone else...

This is the typical brother's best friend and younger sister trope, however it was very well written and so entertaining that I didn't care that it was predictable. Melody thinking she'd be a spinster at 25 made me want to throttle her and tell her to take her time, but it worked for the story. I loved the self discovery that Melody experienced and how her relationship with Adam developed.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last, as I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing was superb and kept me not only interested the entire time but engrossed.

Melody is not a naive virgin, just a girl who fell for a guy years ago and finds no one else that measures up to share herself with. Adam is the playboy heartbreaker but finds Melody as intriguing now as she was years ago. Asked to help Melody with a makeover, Adam reluctantly agreed. But Adam cannot stand for Melody to get, want or desire anyone attention but his. Problem is, her brother is guys best friend and her family is his only one. He can't risk losing all that!

Great story that I highly recommend!

Melody is determined to ditch her good girl image. She wants to attract the attention of her brothers bad boy best friend. How to Seduce a Bad Boy is charming and sexy. There's nothing new or groundbreaking about this story but its tons of fun! The characters are likable and charming. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Adam and Melody. I think my only problem is this story was quite short!

Any book reviewer will tell you that ‘meh, it was okay’ books are the hardest to write about. It’s easy to gush about a really great book, or complain about the ones that get you in knots, but when a book is decent but not overly memorable it’s a challenge. How to Seduce a Bad Boy has a promising synopsis – town librarian wants to catch the eye of the resident playboy, a returned army vet, hoping he’ll help her lose her pesky virginity. The result? Meh, it was okay.

Melody Bryant is tired of being asked by the folks in her small town when she’s going to ‘get married and have babies’. She’s tired of being single, and passed over, and most especially of being a virgin at twenty-four. The one man she’d hoped would help with this problem eight years earlier when she’d propositioned her high school crush, turned her down. But he’s back now and this time, she’s not going to give up so easily.

Adam Foster has returned from two tours of duty and started an auto repair shop with some mutual friends, including James Bryant, Melody’s older brother. James is still overseas but due to end his tour of duty soon, and has asked Adam to keep an eye on Melody until he returns home. That part’s easy. The hard part is when Melody comes to Adam asking if he’ll help her ‘ruin’ her prim and proper reputation. Adam may be interested in Melody but his promise to his friend comes first, no matter how tempting she is. Can Melody convince him otherwise?

I’ve always been a fan of ‘best friend’s sibling’ trope stories, though I didn’t realize at the outset that this would be one of those since it’s not mentioned in the blurb. However, there’s a caveat to that, a personal revelation that I had while reading this story. I like stories where a girl has a brother who wants to date her friend. Why? Because she’s generally adult about it, and for the couple in question there’s a lot of underlying sexual tension that gets resolved. On the other hand, when a guy has a sister interested in his friend, there’s an annoying trend to have the guy threaten the friend that his sister is off-limits. Unfortunately this attitude – that the girl needs to be protected from the friend – pervades this particular story from beginning to end. Adam feels guilt about his attraction to Melody, and his ‘betrayal’ of James, and James acts like an ass when he discovers that Adam and Melody have been spending time together.

Compound that with the improbable (to me) plot that after eight years apart, Melody would feel comfortable going to her one time crush and asking him to help her with a makeover (literally hair, makeup, clothing) to become more attractive to men like himself. Adam reacts the same way I did – what? Why wouldn’t you ask your girlfriend to help you with this? He turns her down, but then decides it’s his duty to help her and suddenly he’s sitting at the salon while she gets her hair cut and escorting her on practice dates, while trying to keep his attraction to the new Melody under wraps. There’s some contradictory behavior on his part – on the one hand he scolds her for wearing a short dress that attracts male attention in public (hello, misogyny much?), while on the next page he thinks that she’s allowed to wear anything she wants and that it’s men who are the jerks. To his credit, he thought she was beautiful before and the makeover doesn’t change that, though he appreciates that her self-confidence grows with her new look and the new (though jealousy inducing) male attention.

From then on the story proceeds fairly predictably. Melody and Adam spend time together, during which they get to know each other as adults. The author does a good job making Adam’s service time in Afghanistan believable in that he discusses the good and the bad parts and has some acute and interesting observations. There are girlfriend scenes for Melody and her friend Lilly, and Adam has some heart-to-hearts with his co-workers. There’s also a fun traditional Mexican wedding that they attend for Adam’s friends Miguel and Camille.

As for other family members besides James, Melody’s parents had treated Adam better than his own parents when he was growing up so he’s comfortable with them and joins them for Sunday dinners like he used to. Her parents are both supportive of her makeover and any other choices she makes, though they seem oblivious to the tension between her and Adam. The story has some make-out scenes but it’s a closed door romance so full sex scenes are not described (though they do occur, ending Melody’s original plight). James’s return causes a host of problems for them (as expected) and puts the onus on Adam to choose between new lover and old best friend. There’s a sweet happy ending once all is said and done, and some open plot threads for other relationships to build on as the series continues. Fans of small town romances who don’t mind the annoying older brother routine may find this one to their liking.

This is the first book by this author I have read, and I must say, I loved it.
Melody Bryant is approaching her 25th birthday. She’s a librarian, only has disastrous first dates, and dresses like an older woman. But now she has decided it’s time to make changes.
Adam Foster is the town’s bad boy, now a hometown hero after returning from Afghanistan where he served with James, Melody’s brother, and is also his business partner.
Melody and Adam have known each other since they were kids and she’s been crushing on him forever. So when she decides she needs lessons on how to get a man , she chooses Adam as her teacher.
Needless to say, that’s when things get and complicated.
The plot was engaging from the start, and the characters well developed. The story was at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming. Especially when we learn about Adam’s childhood and his belief of not being good enough and unlovable.
Will they find their HEA or will the past and loyalties to her family hinder that happiness?
I am looking forward to what else the author has in store for us. Hoping that James and Lily get their story.

Traci Douglass has written an enjoyable childhood -friends-to-adult-lovers-story in How To Seduce a Bad Boy.

The story opened strong. I connected with Melody (Mel) Bryant & Adam Foster right away. Necessary backstory weaved seamlessly into the first few scenes. Mel is tired of striking out with guys. Now that Adam is home from serving in Afghanistan, Mel decides it's time to kick up her heels a bit.  “I need you to ruin my reputation.” that's how she asks her older brother's best friend Adam Foster  to help her lose her goody goody rep. A few years older than Mel, Adam has known her all her life & although he thinks her neat & prim librarian image is fine for her, he undertakes coaching her in vamping up her I age.

Adam believes he's not good enough for Mel or any decent woman. "Because love was at the top of her list, and because it wasn’t even in his vocabulary," he tells himself. How can your heart not go out to a guy with such a down opinion of himself? He's got a bad boy rep but Mel has loved him forever. Of course they're perfect for each other.

I enjoyed this sweet, clean romance. (No explicit sex.) The characters were engaging. The plot kept me interested. I'd recommend this story without reservations.  I'd read more from this author.

How to Seduce a Bad Boy written by Traci Douglass is a delightful romance between two characters who really deserve to be loved. Bad boy Adam Foster tried to do the right thing when he turned down his best friend's little sister 5 years ago. He gets in over his head when she decides she needs help ramping up her image so she can get a man... only Melody (Mel) Bryant's heart still has it bad for the town's bad boy.

Mel is everything you think of when you imagine a stereotype of a librarian...and everyone in town seems to see her as the typical girl next door. She sets out to change her image and enlists both her best friend and Adam to help her. The romance between Mel and Adam is cute and fun, and this was a terrific lighthearted read Mel's inner dialogue cracks me up, as she is smart and sassy and entertaining!!!

I love the thought of the Vietnam Vet's auto garage with all the assorted Vets and their individual stories. They all drew me in, and Mel's best friend Lilly and her big brother James also have some chemistry and a story to tell. I will definitely be reading more from Traci Douglass as her characters have stories that need to be shared!!!

**I received a copy of How to Seduce a Bad Boy from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review** The opinions expressed are mine alone and not solicited in any way**

How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass was a refreshing read and I really loved it plus I can't wait to read Lily and James's story.

Melody Bryant is tired of being the Plain Jane librarian of Point Beacon plus with her 25th birthday fast approaching she wants to get a complete makeover. She knows just who can do it her brother best friend Adam Foster who she's had a crush on since she was 14 years old. But can she convince him?

Adam Foster is the bad boy who with his former Army team mates has built a respected business Victory Vets auto repair. When he hears Melody's proposal he knows that he'll have to figure out a way to decline because he knows the golden rule no dating the best friend's sister. It's a little line he doesn't want to cross but little does he know that he'll soon become more than just her coach to become glamorous.

I loved this story! Best and one of my favorite tropes, brother's best friend, quiet sister who's got a serious crush, a splash of second chance romance, stir and relish this book!
Meet Melody the quiet librarian who dresses the part who has zero luck in the dating department and when her brother's best friend Adam returns home from his deployment she sees an opportunity to have him teach her how to cut loose and bring out that inner bad girl that she thinks might be in there somewhere. I'm laughing as I write this... it really is a great story. Adam is reluctant of course. The whole best friend/sister thing and Adam really feels he isn't good enough for Mel. While the plot's been done before, I still loved this. The inner dialogue of Mel, the chemistry between Adam and Mel was smoking, well written, a fun, easy read. Add to that Mel's friend Lily who was quite the character and Mel's brother. Fantastic read. Totally 5 stars.

I love the 'sister-of-best-friend' trope so I went into this with high hopes. But.. alas.. I thought the book was too slow and not interesting enough for my taste. Melody is a stereotype to me. Librarian, almost 25, dresses like an old lady (she has a hairband!) until she decides to have a total makeover and asks her brother's best friend (who she had a crush on years ago, still has) to help her find a boyfriend.

Somehow the book dragged too much in the first half. Melody goes to a hair dresser and gets new makeup, goes shopping... and Adam just goes with her. He is scared her brother will find out but is falling for Melody (he always liked her but the new hairdo and makeup make it harder to resist, you know).

I wanted to like this book! I did not connect to Melody or Adam at all and everything fell flat. The writing is good, but I wanted something more.

I love bad boy, friends to lovers, forbidden romances, and after reading the synopsis for ‘How to Seduce a Bad Boy’ I was excited to start reading. I struggled through the first few chapters, I felt that the author was trying too hard, and being overly descriptive. I struggled to relate to Melody, I found her a little bit needy and weak. That said, once I got into the crux of the story I started getting invested in Adam and Melody. Adam did in fact play the panty melting bad boy extremely well, and I must say, I can’t blame prudish Melody for having the hots for him. A quick, fun, flirty and enjoyable read. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

4 Star Review of How To Seduce A Bad Boy by Traci Douglas

Traci Douglas is a new author to me. This was a fun, entertaining and read; a friends to lovers story.

Melody Bryant is determined to loose her virginity and she has just the man to help her in her quest, Adam Foster. Well if she can convince him that is.

Adam is her older brother’s best friend. The fact that Mel has been in love with Adam for years does not help as Adam believes that he is not good enough for her.

Coerced into helping Mel with her complete makeover, Adam has no idea what he is in for.

I liked the characters of Mel and Adam and the story flowed well.

Although at times I felt that the story was a little slow, this was a sweet romance that had me smiling and overall it was enjoyable.

This sweet romance was cute and fun to read. Melody Bryant is the town good girl and she's sick of it. Sure she may be a librarian and likes her world orderly and neat but that doesn't mean she doesn't want to have a little fun.
Being a twenty four year old virgin with no prospects in sight has her coming up with a crazy plan. Adam Foster may be her best friends brother but he's still the only guy who has ever tempted her. After turning down her advances in the past he owes her so who better than Adam to teach her everything she needs to know about seducing a man? Let the fun times begin!

I highly recommend this one.

Melody/Mel barely had enough time to avoid getting her toes run over as her latest first date hurriedly pulled away from the curb. She had thought the evening was going well. Lilly was Mel’s best friend and Mel called her and let her know the date didn’t go well. She said Michael who had been her date and her and talked for awhile than he went into his hot librarian fantasies . Mel was a librarian and this wasn’t the first time she had heard about that. Than Lilly told her her clothing made her look like a ninety year old June Cleaver. Mel decided she needed direction, a plan to lose her virginity before her twenty fifth birthday in five weeks. James was Mel’s older brother and he was friends with Adam and asked Adam to watch over his family until he came back from his tour of duty. Mel’s family had been there for Adam She only had one guy in mind-Adam. A tall order but not impossible. Adam was back home after two tours of duty in the Army. She had yet to speak one word to the guy since he return. Adam was a gorgeous bad boy. She then told Lilly she had to go. Melody decided she needed a plan and it involved Adam. Adam thought how overall things were going well since he returned to Pointe Beacon-home. Business was booming at Victory bets Body Shop And Repair. As he headed home Mel was waving her hands at him to stop Eight years ago they had been alone on the back porch of her parents house and she had told Adam she loved him and wanted to give herself to him completely. Adam had been totally blind sided. They had both been so young but he’d never forgot her words. Now he stopped to see what she wanted and Melody said she needed him to ruin her reputation. Than Mel said she needed a makeover. Everything from clothes to hair to makeup. But especially the social aspect. A coach who’s in the dating trenches and knows their way around to show her what she was doing wrong. To teach her to do things right. Mel needed someone she could trust and won’t joke about it to people behind her back. Someone who could keep a secret. Relationships were off the table with Adam. Guys like him didn’t fall in love. He ended up telling Mel no he couldn’t help her. But Lilly stepped in and Mel decided to go ahead and do the makeover. Adam came back to tel Mel he would help her as he was afraid what would happen of melody went to someone else for help.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a fun easy read just predictable but in this case that was alright it didn’t bother me. Adam and Melody had a hot chemistry between them. I do feel this could have been longer. I also felt this was well written. I loved the development of Melody and Adam. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

How To Seduce A Bad Boy is the first in Traci Douglass new series called Victory Vets and is available starting today, January 14th. The premise of this series is a group of Army vets arriving home, starting new lives and finding love. Victory Vets also happens to be the name of the auto garage the vets started and/or work for. Never having read any of Ms Douglass previous work, I wasn't sure what to expect. Sure the title and description reeled me in but I had no idea what I was getting into. It's a nice story that hit a little too close to home for me.

Melody "Mel" Bryant is the only, she thinks, 24 year old virgin in Point Beacon, Indiana. She might be right. Mel may be stunning but...she's a librarian, dresses like Mrs. Cleaver in 1950, and owns a cat. First dates don't lead to second dates. She feels dependable, predictable, boring, and invisible. For those of us not popular, not head cheerleader types, this stings. Wondering why your friend, but not you, attracts men who buy drinks and want to dance. Oh yes, it stings. Mel decides that if she wants to be an un-virgin by her next birthday she needs an overhaul. Her BFF agrees, makes her a hair/makeup appointment and then flakes at the last minute. The plan must continue, cannot be derailed. There's only one thing to do, one person she wants to help her, her girlhood hearts desire.

Adam Foster is her brothers best friend. He was always around when they were kids and Mel's crushed on him forever. She tried to lose the v card to him 8 years ago but he said no and joined the Army. Way to feel special, not. She works up the nerve to ask Adam for help and manages to talk him into it. If he doesn't want her surely someone will. Adam does want Mel, always has, but she's James little sister. He can't ruin his friendship, can't screw up the business they started together. Mel is driving him crazy but he must resist as long as possible. That's about a week. Adam is sure disaster lies ahead but jumps in with both feet anyway.

Their story is sweet and relatable. A wallflower who doesn't know how attractive she really is, how to flirt and can't find out from a book. A bad boy with a bad reputation trying to live it down and forge a new, good life for himself. These two deserve a happily ever after and you'll want it for them too.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing an ARC. Receiving a free book ARC is a privilege and one I enjoy. Being able to share my opinion is a pleasure. Both are free and without obligation. Happy reading.

Melody is a small town librarian who is tired of playing by the rules. She wants a change in her monotonous life, starting with a complete makeover. Melody's second goal is to shed her virginity. After all, her twenty-firth birthday is quickly approaching. She has just the man in mind, but it might take a little manipulating.

Adam has been friends with Melody's brother, James, since they were kids. And now, they are business partners, running a garage called Victory Vets. When Melody hits him up asking for help ruining her reputation, he is shocked, but also a little tempted. Adam tries to deny her request, but when he thinks about some other guy taking advantage of her, he knows he will be the only man for the job. But by helping Melody, Adam could be risking his friendship and his business. What's a guy to do?

HOW TO SEDUCE A BAD BOY is a gripping read. The whole will they, won't they had me on the edge of my seat. Author Traci Douglass certainly knows how to ensnare her readers. She had me instantly with the plotline. Who doesn't love a good novel about a girl who falls for her brother's best friend. The fact that the story centered around a group of Army vets was only a plus. Melody and Adam were a beautiful couple who really cared for one another. It was great to see their relationship flourish and thrive. I'm very much hoping the next book will be Lilly and James's story. Or Hollywood and Jag's. I give HOW TO SEDUCE A BAD BOY a solid 3.5 star rating. It would have been a 4, but the romance scenes are a little closer to YA than adult.

in how to seduce a bad boy, melody bryant is a 24-year-old virgin who dresses like june cleaver and works at her local library. basically a living stereotype. after another bad date, she decides she needs to shake her image—get a makeover, get some flirtation tips, get some. so she decides to ask her brother's old friend adam. he turned her down before so why she thinks he will say yes, is...befuddling.

why she asks a guy for makeover help is also...strange. and maybe it's because he told her way back when that she should wait for someone special to do it, and she's still waiting and thinks he's plenty special. but none of it makes sense.

i'm not a huge fan of these 'i must lose my virginity by x age' plots, because they seem to be so fixated on the wrong thing. and while melody's makeover and the changes she makes clearly give her more self-confidence, it's not clear that she's addressing whatever deep-seated issues caused the lack of confidence.

when she talks about her past, one that adam shares with her, it doesn't quite compute that she'd be such a mouse. granted her older brother is kind of a giant douche going all 'don't touch my sister' when he finds out that she and adam hooked up. and there's some additional weirdness with melody's best friend who is really, really a crappy friend.

this one didn't work for me, i guess.

**how to seduce a bad boy will publish on january 14, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (bliss) in exchange for my honest review.
