Faking It

Rate this book
Faking it never felt so good in this red-hot new standalone by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg—available in audio first! Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it.Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot – but he’s also an arrogant jackass—so . . . no thanks. But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website – and the best part? He can’t say no because he’ll get caught in his lie too. Little did I know this would entail sharing a tour bus with him for the next few months. The fact that the bus has just one bed isn’t the most ideal of circumstances, but this spokesperson gig might be the kick in the pants my career needs, so why not take a chance? Famous last words. Now I’m crisscrossing the country–and sharing that bed—with the one guy I can’t stand. And even worse, my traitorous body is wondering at every turn what it’s like to be down under the gorgeous Australian. But as the miles unfurl, so does our passion…and if I’m not careful, I might end up believing that fairytales really do come true.

“Women fall in love with words, Harlow. Men fall in love with bodies.”
Let me start the review with this important knowledge.

CAUTION: BIG RANT AHEAD

Maximum romance novels these days:

Girl: The guy is a douche bag who doesn't respect girls and thinks of himself as a God's gift to women.
Girl: Falls for the said douche bag cause acts like a 2% nice guy.
Guy: Does something douche bag-ish in the end
Girl:

Anyway, so here is the plot:
Harlow is broke and aspiring model and sassy and strong, who has a mother who believes in fairy tales and want one for herself and her daughter. Enters the king of douche bags Zane, who is supposed to be knight in shining Armour. They meet accidentally when he assumes she a dog walker and leaves his dog with her without second thought and without instructing her anything about poor dog and he supposedly loves his dog. Harlow chalks him off as asshole and hates him immediately. But the guy is HOT so of course she had to tell herself to hate him, cause you know how females are attracted to Adonis looking jerks no matter what unless he is average looking jerk. So insta lust. Moving on they some how end up in a fake relationship. They have to tour for two months to promote Zane's new venture and she falls for him.
Only saving grace and the reason I gave it 1 star is the end. Thanks for separation without misunderstanding YAY.
These are some of my favorite dialogs:

So Harlow is telling her mom how much of a jerk the guy is, and this what mother romantic says:
“C’mon, maybe he’s the prince you’ve been waiting for.”

Harlow :"Assholes come in all shapes and sizes.”
Mom :“So does love.”

Harlow:“I believe you said those similar words to me after Jamie explained to me after five months that women are like milk—they have expiration dates. And then again when I walked in on Finn in bed with someone else..."
And mother of the year folks...

Now enters jack, the friend:
Jack gestures to the people mingling in the space around them. “I mean look at all the gorgeous women. They’re prime for the picking. Now all you have to do is find the right one.”

And this is what our dear Cinderella overhears about herself:
“Why not? She made you look twice.” “Two words: friggin’ nightmare.” Jack throws his head back and laughs. “Aren’t they all?”

And dont get me started on slut shaming:
“First of all, Harlow . . . skanks aren’t my style. I like to work for what I get. Easy isn’t fun at all. Not for a guy like me.”
“And second, you seem to be the one holding a box of condoms . . . so either you like to be prepared . . . or you’re the easy one.”
"I prefer a simple case of scratch my itch and I’ll scratch yours back."

Okay so women should play hard to get and make him work, if not... they are skanks. And who are looking for hassle free pleasure just like him... and how does that not make him skank himself?

And then here is our Harlow:
“I can’t get a read on him. I don’t know what he actually feels about me…or what I feel about him..”
Girl, you people have established its all fake, why you have to read anything into a clear thing?

“I say we have a contest,” Kostas says as he picks up a fresh beer. “One where we find that thrill again.”
“You can find it in the next woman who walks through the door. Who are you kidding?” Mateo jokes. “True, but it’s not the same.”
“You’re too young to be having a midlife crisis,” Enzo adds. “More pussy will fix that for you.” “I’ve got all the pussy I want,” he counters.

“Doesn’t every woman deserve to be treated like they matter after they’ve slept with someone?” he asks.
Oh. My. Who is this guy?

And she swoons. How about both treating each other with respect? How about women not sleeping with jerks? How about this is how people should treat each other? what was so swoon worthy?

“You’re used to women jumping when you say yes. I don’t jump unless I want to, and—”
“It’s not my fault women can’t resist me and yet, I can resist them.”

“I’d fuck with her . . . no doubt there. Is Harlow that good that you’re a one-pussy-loving-man now?”
“She’s not available.”
“They’re always available when it comes to me.” His chuckle again. “Look around, Zane. There are twenty women here vying for your attention. They’d love to let you stick your dick in them . . . why are you wasting your time with one woman when you can have one, two, three of them at a time?”
He looks over his shoulder to find the waitress, lifts his finger to signal another round, and then like a man always used to getting what he wants, points to three women on the outside of the ropes and motions for them to sit with us.The women stand at the foot of the U-shaped couch and wait for Kostas to point them where to sit: one beside him, one between us, and one on the other side of me.

Are we talking about dogs here?

In the past I’d have let her walk those fingers right up to my dick. Let her tease me with them. Let her show me how bad she wants it.
How generous he was in past. Its like women should earn him or something?

Enough said.

More over, through out during the tour he makes her feel special by touching her, caring for her, etc. and she takes it. But she doesn't do it wondering if he will think she likes him. why men are suppose to show affection without thinking twice and women cant? I am too disgusted right now and wondering how a female writer can write shit like this and how females can support and love jerks like this just because they are little less of jerks around them? Signing off.

Just face it, Harlow . . . you can’t resist me.”
“Resist you?” I laugh. “I can barely stand you.”

That hot cover and enticing blurb don't even come close to doing this book justice. And that's saying something because that cover and blurb are EVERYTHING. But this book is also so much more than just a relationship of convenience trope. It's a swoony, humorous, perfectly paced, deliciously blended romance cake with plenty of sexual chemistry as the sprinkles on top! I loved the ever loving EVERYTHING out of this book. EVERYTHING!!!!
Harlow Nicks spells trouble for me in every sense of the word. She has my every wire crossed. And she’s made me hesitate to step over a line I thought would be a no brainer to cross: sleeping with her.

K. Bromberg has long been an automatic one-click for me, and Faking It just solidified why. The woman can write her heart out to deliver a bad boy hero that you can't get enough of and a bold and smart-mouthed heroine that you'll never stop rooting for. It's an opposites attract romance that's effortlessly developed and impeccably paced to deliver a one-two punch straight to the feels and have the reader hooked from beginning to finish.
Everything about Zane Phillips rubs me the wrong way. Even when I’m thinking about how good he can probably rub me the right way.

Now I love me a bad boy. Make that bad boy a self-made millionaire womanizer with a cockiness to boot? DROOLING! But then also make that bad boy something so much more? I'm putty in your hands. And that's exactly what Zane was. He's an irreverent womanizer. But there's something more than meets the eye to him. There's a depth to him that you only get glimpses of as the author sucks you deeper and deeper into his orbit. You begin to see there's some much more to Zane than a bored playboy that's trying to make his new business venture a success. A matchmaking site launched by a man that doesn't believe in love? Color me intrigued.

As for Harlow? What's not to love about a heroine that's not afraid to put this bad boy in his place every chance she gets. This is a woman that doesn't get played. She's not afraid to throw the gauntlet and boy does she!

From their very first meeting, I was instantly hooked on this couple. I loved their banter, I loved the hate lust that was sparking out of every barb they threw at one another. I also loved the way that Harlow went after what she wanted. This is a woman that isn't afraid to to play the player at his own game. But what starts out as a mutually beneficial agreement of a fake relationship until the successful launch of the business, soon begins to turn into something more. The lines get blurred and even when both of them do their best to try to ignore their feelings, it's not long before they realize the chemistry that's been slowly building between them from the start is about to become explosive.

I think the pacing was my absolute favorite part of this romance. It was a slow, delicious build up. The banter between Zane and Low serving as foreplay and I couldn't get enough of it. I loved the fact that Harlow never shied away from being herself and saying what she wants. This is a woman that called Zane on all of his bull, and it was AWESOME.

If you've never read a K. Bromberg book before, you couldn't find a better one to start with. Faking It was EVERYTHING! A light hearted, swoony romance with plenty of depth. It brought a goofy smile to my face for the entire time I was reading it, and I never wanted it to end. I devoured this book and loved every minute of it!!

Lord have mercy. I have to gather my thoughts on this one ☺️

Zane Phillips & Harlow Nicks, you captured me during this read!!!!

“Welcome to hell, Phillips.
Where the temptation is hot as fuck, the consequences are damning, and the sins are at your fingertips waiting to burn you.”

“This is going to be a serious problem. Huge. Stick around—you should because he’s over there taking off his shirt—and things are just beginning to get good.”

Hands down one I recommend to all you romance lovers ♥️

Harlow Nicks is a model in Los Angeles who is still looking for her big break. While following her dreams she still has to pay the rent, so she's hoping her latest interview will go well. Then a gorgeous, annoying man named Zane Phillips ruins her day and all her plans when he mistakes her for his dog walker and causes her to miss her interview.

Zane Phillips is a successful, Australian entrepreneur who is the CEO of an up & coming matchmaking site. He's known in Hollywood as the unattainable bachelor playboy who doesn't do commitment or relationships. He crosses paths with a beautiful, feisty woman named Harlow who tells it like it is, and speaks her mind. He's never met a woman like her before. One who isn't impressed by his money and good looks. He finds her incredibly sexy, and decides to try to make up for ruining her interview. His kindness backfires when she completely blindsides him by outsmarting him. He's clearly met his match and soon a couple white lies spiral and she is suddenly playing his fake girlfriend to help promote his new dating website. What better way to sell your platform than to prove it works. Show that even a wealthy business mogul could be tamed by love.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Harlow is hoping her new situation with Zane will jump start her career, but what she wasn't counting on was sharing such close quarters with the hot arrogant jerk. He's infuriating but she can't help how attracted she is to him. Everything about him rubs her the wrong way, but she still can't deny how badly she wants him.

Zane is putting on a good show with Harlow as his ready made girlfriend. The problem is he finds her fascinating and is desperate for her. She's distracting and he's intrigued by her. She challenges him and makes him feel way too much. Soon it becomes impossible to separate what's real and what's fake as lines get blurred. As things begin to change between them will they face the truth or keep up the act? Their time is limited, and they were never supposed to actually like each other, or fall for one another. Will they choose to continue to live the lie or believe in the fairytale?

-It's only her I see.

-Harlow Nicks spells trouble for me in every sense of the word. She has my every wire crossed.

-Her hair, her body, her lips. They call to me. Taunt me. Tempt me. I'm so screwed.

-She's stunning in every way. But it's her smile, her laugh, her carefree everything that makes people stare.

-Screw the rules. I want her. Right now. I'll deal with the consequences later.

Faking It is a fun, flirty romantic comedy full of fabulous banter and sexiness. These two have insane chemistry and a love/hate relationship where they clash at every turn as they go from enemies to lovers. I loved Harlow's strong, sassy personality, and really enjoyed this story from start to finish!

The moment I saw this cover...I fell head over heels in love with it. I have actually had a crush on this particular cover model for quite some time...so of course, I had to read this book. I mean I love this author and all her previous work...but did you see that hunk of a man on the cover ??!!!!

Yeah so....on to the story 7e6c22cc4c29adb0f4a619d0806b71f1

This book started out pretty good...I was laughing my ass off within minutes, and I knew right from the start, that me and Harlow were gonna be good friends ;) I love a girl who doesn't take any crap !! I mean it's not every day a model gets mistaken for a dog walker.  She had an awesome mouth on her, so I even got a little girl crush going ;)

Zane was a delicious (redeemable) asshole... and we all know how much I love them bad boys ...

Animated GIF

Zane has definitely met his match in Harlow. It was "annoyance at first sight" for these two. Zane is a very wealthy CEO, who is about to launch a new dating/matchmaking app. He is also a bit of a player. While trying to one-up each other, they end up in a fake relationship and we all know how that goes...right ?!!

And why should they not reap the benefits of such a "fake" relationship...

The banter between these two was awesome...and so was the steam !!

It was a bit milder on the angst and the emotions than I am used to by this author though. I would say this one was a bit lighter...fluffier. A sweet, flirty and funny romance that will make you smile from beginning to end  ;)

If you're a fan of "enemies to lovers" you should definitely give this one a try.

I love, love, LOVE Kristy's writing, so it comes as no surprise (to me) that I fell completely in love with Harlow and Zane. Well, first I developed a serious girl crush on Harlow because she's a kickbutt heroine. Then I fell for the alpha, sometimes-jerk, sometimes-seriously sweet Zane.

I love the unique premise for the story, the building sexual tension and the hilarious, witty banter as they're forced into each other's personal space 24 hours a day, seven days a week for months!

If you love a steamy enemies to lovers romance, Faking It is the perfect escape!

Faking It for the fairy-tale ending…

I know all about faking it. Not, Faking It but faking it…in the acting out my interest in social interactions when I’m really wanting to listen to my audiobook instead. I was a good girl, though, and managed to hold plenty of meaningful conversations (I think) but I was distracted knowing I had unfinished books sitting and waiting for me. See, I’m on holidays and sitting beside a beautiful river with a bunch of friends and reading/listening got put on the backburner. I knew my books would wait, but it’s hard when you want to be in two places at once. Reading … or … socialising … reading … or … socialising? My friends know me well, and today was a dedicated leave Stacey alone, she’s reading, day. YaY!!!

I really enjoyed listening to Faking It. The storyline was interesting, the characters were interesting and lovable and the narrators do a fabulous job. I had the BIGGEST, goofiest smile on my face when the hero of the story shares that he was born in Brisbane, Australia. It’s my hometown. I was already loving that the male narrator was an Aussie but felt that little bit more of a connection to the character knowing he was a fellow Brisbanite.

It always cracks me up that blokes think they can keep their heart out of sexual relationships. This one was even funnier because he was attracted, liked and cared for her as well. And, he was spending every hour of the day in her company. And, he was having to display an intimate connection to her in front of an audience. HA HA HA!! He was doomed from the start. Honestly, even if you took out half of those things he was going to be doomed. After all, Harlow was a pretty awesome character. With model looks, a sassy attitude and a strong personality, they make Harlow very appealing, leaving successful, rich and handsome Zane no chance to deny his heart.

I am loving listening to my stories and feel like the Audible Originals/Romance Package has opened up more opportunities for me to listen to my favourite authors. With such a variety of stories and talented narrators, I’m finding it harder to hit pause to get back to my reading reads.

If you’re looking for an entertaining listen with a hot Aussie hero and a sassy heroine, look no further than Faking It. I definitely recommend.

Nothing better than to start the new year with a book by one of my absolute favorite authors! K. Bromberg does it again for me in this enemies-to-lovers romance. Entertaining, sexy and emotional: Faking It surely did not disappoint me. I love Kristy’s characters, her writing style and how she develops her stories.

So, Faking It is this author’s upcoming standalone release and it’s about a cocky and rich Australian entrepreneur and the sassy woman who is mistaken for his dog walker and ends up as his fake girlfriend. Huh!? Well, Zane Phillips and Harlow Nicks do not have a very good start, their personalities do not seem to match so well. Those sparks and sexual tension, though! Now these two end up becoming a fake couple in a promotional tour for Zane’s new dating website and the chemistry is unstoppable! They fight against it but those sparks and feels only become stronger as days pass.

“Sometimes the people who make you feel all riled up inside end up lighting a fire in your heart.”

K. Bromberg just delivers success after success! She surely knows how to write an engaging love story full of sparks, banter, chemistry and emotions. I really enjoyed the building of Zane and Harlow's relationship, starting from hate (understandable because Zane is kind of a jerk that I can’t help but adore!) and ending up in love. Kristy’s characters are always so well developed, strong and unique and these two were no exception.

The woman’s a force to be reckoned with and damn do I want to be reckoned by her.
Hands down.
No question.

Of course, let’s not forget another aspect that makes this novel so great: when that hate develops into sexual tension and consequently into lots and lots of chemistry. Zane and Harlow surely heat things up with their sexy scenes and it gets even better when feelings start to grow between them. Yes, their pasts want to stop that love from happening but what they feel for each other is too strong (and beautiful!). I really enjoyed how Kristy ended the novel, simply say: all the feels!

You deserve the kind of love that makes you believe in love.

Therefore, my rating for Faking It is 4.5 STARS because I simply adored Zane and Harlow's back and forth and the building of their 'not so fake' relationship. Of course, add that their chemistry was off the charts and the feelings were all over the place! And that ending! Gah! Kristy is one of my favorite authors and she definitely did not fail with this enemies-to-lovers romance. Guys, be sure to check this novel out!

***3,5 "Live in the now!!!" stars***

"It all comes back to love..."

I enjoyed AND this book by K. Bromberg, but to be totally honest with you, i didn't love it as the rest I've read of hers....
I think that it will be very difficult for me something to come above the Malone brothers...
So, yep, this book was good, but far away from my favorite...

Well, Zane Phillips was an a$$!!! Seriously, guys!!!
He was cocky, arrogant, self-centured, with bad attitude... An a$$!!!!
The first time that he met Harlow, he mistook her for the dog walker and from that moment, everything turned upside down...

I'm so screwed...

Harlow Nicks was badass... Of course, she was a woman as the rest of us, but she was strong, independent and she knew what she wanted in life...
She was in seriously need of a job and the "Arrogant Aussie" took this chance of hers when he mistook her for the dogwalker...

"Everything about Zane Phillips rubs me the wrong way.
Even when I'm thinking about how good he can probably rub me the right way."

These two people would be great to stay away from each other, because their second encounter lead them to a fake relationship who landed Harlow a good job after all and Zane to live his biggest nightmare...
But their rival made that mess, and they have no other choice for dance to its rhythm...
But when reality will got in the way, what will happen to their fake affair???

"Faking that we're together can't be that hard."

"Sometimes the people who make you feel all riled up inside end up lighting a fire in your heart."

Well, i don't think i liked very much Zane.... He repulsed me in a way.... Yep, he was charming when he wanted and it was cute his relationship with his dog, but still in the majority of the book was an.. a$$!!!
Yep, i know!!!! Bad past and all and he didn't appreciate the sentiment of love, but still... Ahem!!!

"Love is a bullshit emotion."

"We both wanted something from the other. We're getting it. Like I said, don't mistake reality with pretend... and sure as hell don't mistake the guy you want with the man that I am."

From the other hand, Harlow was so sweet... Even gorgeous!!!
I liked her attitude and her independence, but i think that even though she wasn't accepting it, from the first moment she was pout in Zane's hand... So much for independence!!!
Yep, she was making fun of her mother with the huge romantism, but deep down inside, she was looking for her prince...
And Zane was far away from this role....
Well, those two were cute together, but i couldn't connect very much with them...
I really don't know why....

"Admitting you have feelings for someone doesn't make you weak. It makes you strong."

"Zane Phillips, you deserve the kind of love that makes you believe in love."

Before i close, i have to say that i liked Robert so much... This sneaky old man...
He was a genious in every aspect!!! LOL
Well, as i said above, i had my issues, but still... i enjoyed this story a lot!!!

3 estrellas raspaditas.

The first half, I am nearing to 4 stars. The story is promising. The plot is engaging. The characters develop well. The conversation and the banter is fun and flirty. Sexy. the teasing/ foreplay promising more.

But when I reach toward the end, I just disappointed. The story becomes stall and flat. The plot becomes dragging. So dragging that I fall asleep listening to the audio book. I want to see the story and the plot to develop more instead just sexual attraction between Harlow and Zane. Zane POV suddenly disappear. So I lost his connection. Only Harlow POV. And Harlow becoming a very needy annoying character. Her sassy character gone.

And Harlow relationship with her mother is quite disturbing. I mean the mother packed her condom when she figures out her daughter going into a trip with her boss. Ugh!

So I settle 3 stars

I really liked this book! Especially the audiobook. We have a wonderfully strong and confident heroine. Who is read by a genius actress. And we have a gloriously sexy hero who is perfectly performed.
Our hero is launching a dating website and our heroine is a spokesmodel. Add to that our hero also needs a girlfriend to show he has used his website.
Excellent story! Emotional romance!

Rupert Channing stole the show! This is one of my new favorites! Gah! That accent tho!! I might be in love! The audiobook is FANTASTIC!! Erin Mallon is always perfection, so this is a definite win. I absolutely loved everything about it!

Zane Phillips meets his match (literally) when he mistakenly assumes Harlow is his dog walker. He's wealthy, brash, and completely full of him. Apparently he has a right to be because he's sexy AF! Harlow isn't impressed by his antics and gives him a piece of her mind.

These two are like oil and water. He's not used to women like her and she's unimpressed by his playboy antics. You just know from the very start that they'll be explosive together. And trust me, they did disappoint!

This is one of my absolute favorite tropes. I love when two unassuming strangers find exactly what they never knew they wanted after being forced together in a fake relationship situation. It was phenomenal! K. Bromberg always delivers all the feels!

Zane and Harlow are fantastic characters! The story is so much fun. And as always, K. Bromberg delivers a sexy story that is sure to please romance lovers! Grab it on Audible now!

Loved the narration! Sexy Aussie, hello. Cute, funny and romantic story.

The audiobook was a light and sexy love story that I enjoyed all the more because of the outstanding narration by Rupert Channing and Erin Mallon. This audiobook was just pure fun, between Zane's sexy Australian accent and his cocky attitude, to Harlow's strong personality and inner monologue. The narrators really brought this enemies-to-lovers story to life!

“Love’s a stupid emotion fabricated to define relationships”

Zane is trying to land a wealthy investor for his matchmaking app. After a case of mistaken identity and a few little white lies, Zane and Harlow find themselves in a fake relationship to promote the new dating app. I enjoyed the wide range of accents used by the narrators in this story and loved that they talked directly to the listener during the audiobook.

'Faking It' stands out to me because of the sexy, fresh and funny narration which brought Zane and Harlow to life! Highly recommend this audiobook to all contemporary romance fans

GASP* I listened to the Audible and it was heaven to my ears! What starts as an accidental encounter, quickly changes into a crazy turn of events. NO SPOILERS These two now finding themselves In quite an interesting situation. There’s more at play than we know. Nothing harder than pretending to be something you’re not or is there? What if the truth hurts more. Zane oh my AUSSIE ANYONE? The sex appeal is off the charts. ( AUSTRALIAN enough said) He is the epitome of arrogance. Take no prisoner , and no apologies . Not bad.

This was a pretty cute read. It's the kind of book you go to when you are on a break from serious book, it's just like a pizza you buy when you are looking for something good but temporary, it's worth it in that moment but you soon forget about it and look for something else (ain't I the poet today).

Worth reading though.

2.75 Estrellas!

Had a great beginning. Great premise. The writing/dialogue is really good-especially in the beginning.
I liked both Harlow's voice (Erin Mallon) & Zane's (Rupert Channing) voices. Harlow's voice with the whisper-talk really got annoying. I had a hard time thinking 'is she saying that or thinking that?'
Why was she whispering? They traded off chapters so she even did it when Harlow was talking about Zane. Zane's voice has an Aussie accent. I liked his tone. When Rupert did Robert's voice, it was very wooden and had a monotone. Robert is a wealthy investor that Zane is trying to please with a new dating website. Robert was the whole reason for Zane and Harlow's fake relationship.
Robert was such an asshole. Usually elderly men and women are portrayed as wise and even tempered.
Robert was always trying to catch Zane lying to him. The way Rupert did his voice really made me grit my teeth.
The was a giant slow middle. The writing -as I mentioned is very good- the plot just plodded along.
Sorry. I have a feeling I'll like reading Ms Bromberg's more. *This was my first one.
I borrowed this through the Romance Package in Audible. (ps, I read this going to & from work- as usual).

5 Faking CROWNS

I absolutely cannot get over this! K. Bromberg and these narrators have quite possibly created my favorite audiobook ever!

The voices of narrators are perfection! I swear the heroes Aussie accent did something to me. The dialogue and the banter is sexy and fun, the chemistry, amazing.

The journey of these two is so much fun! The fake relationship, watching it turn into something real, the grand gesture is all just freaking fabulous.

The story in and of itself is not groundbreaking, the conflict and resolution expected but sometimes a story just has that spark, that bit of magic and Faking It does. I found myself laughing and smiling ear to ear the whole way through, but especially at the end.

Faking It is pure heaven for your ears and your heart! The perfect combination for an audiobook!

Audiobook Review

The overall loves story was good ~4 stars. It's always fun to watch the selfish arrogant hero fall in love. The narrators were horrible though. The hero has an Aussie accent and I cringed every time he mimicked an American accent, especially the heroine's voice. Likewise, the female narrator imitating the Aussie male accent was just dreadful.

4.5 stars - Audiobook Review

Well, this was a tasty treat—a wonderfully light palate cleanser, if you will, after reading some seriously angst-filled books.

Harlow is a winsome heroine made of equal parts spunk and heart. I like seeing entitled, arrogant jerks getting blindsided by love, so Zane was just my type. Harlow may be down on her luck and Zane oozes wealth and power, but she doesn’t hesitate to stand up him. I enjoyed the power balance in their relationship. Their bus tour offers fun antics and moments of pure swooning.

The plot is somewhat predictable, but nonetheless very enjoyable. The book is a solid four stars for me, but the audiobook deserves an extra half star. Hallelujah! I found a unicorn: a superb female and male narrator. Rupert Channing and Erin Mallon are equally talented. Both pull off American and Australian accents pretty convincingly, and when they voice their male and female counterparts it is far from the cringeworthy caricatures that I find with some narrators. Their vocal performances enhance the story. Rupert, in particular, gives specific nuances to the different characters so it is easy to distinguish each one. I absolutely recommend listening to the audiobook if you have the opportunity.

4.5 'It all comes back to love' Stars

HOLY AUSSIE HOTNESS! Faking It proves, once again, that K. Bromberg always has the magic combo between gripping emotional, scorching hot and hilariously entertaining! This book truly had it all!

First of all, I was insta in love with Harlow. From her very first thoughts, and how she met and deal with Zane, from the very first second, omg, I was THERE with her, and like, 'Tell him, girl!'. Yep, total girl crush - and not just because she is me with her sarcastic and 'take no crap' attitude - on Harlow, but her overall kickass and outspoken manner, and specially the not falling for his irresistible charm and panty melting accent. Damn, it was hard not to cave to those green mischief filled beauties, and cocky smile!

“Hence?” he says with a mocking grin.
“Yes, hence.” I take a step closer. “This isn’t the Outback. You’re not wrestling crocs, Dundee. So—”

“No. I don’t. I don’t even think Smudge does. He’s cute and has manners while you’re just . . .” I look him up and down. “The real dog of the house.”

Just like Harlow, I wanted to punched Zane, entrepreneur and unapologetic player extraordinaire. With the way she heard him chat with his buddy, and how he treated and mistook her without even a word from her, I would have handled it just as smoothly as she did, so kudos for her for the instant come backs - and Ms. Bromberg's spot on talent - that earn her not only my love, but definitely Zane's attention. Let's just say he was more used to women throwing their panties at him, not their shoes to his head. That was a first...

“Sometimes the people who make you feel all riled up inside end up lighting a fire in your heart.”

And so the their story begins, an personalized apology becomes a invitation to a party, and there, both her impulsive and filterless mind and his arrogant player 'never stay behind' attitude, puts them in a situation they never anticipated and wanted, being forced to pretend being in love and working together, basically twenty four seven for the next couple of months. Let's just saw sparks - of every kind would be flying - anyone could see that.

“I love you, but princes don’t exist and I don’t need any man to catch me. I can manage perfectly all on my own.”

“Do you believe in love, Zane?”
“Love is a bullshit emotion.”

Add to it her both very different, but both discarding notions of love, we could see just what would happen. And OMG, the BANTER!!! The banter and back and forth between Harlow and Zane was just BRILLIANT, and I soaked every second of hit! Ms. Bromberg sure knows how to capture our attention from minute one. These two had me go through all the emotions, and had me on the edge of my seat pulling for their love.

Fucking Harlow.
It’s all her fault. This. The tour. Me wanting her. All of it.

Welcome to hell, Phillips.
Where the temptation is hot as fuck, the consequences are damning, and the sins are at your fingertips waiting to burn you.

Zane, oh Zane... Much like Harlow, I can't say it was love at first sight, given that again, much like our heroine - whom I fell instantly hard - this man made me want to throat (not to say worst) punch him for a big part of the start of the book. But as the book moved forward, their proximity grew and we got to see another side of Zane that I did not expect. Sure, his 'love is a bullshit emotion' motto was present, but you could see how much he was struggling to come to terms with the notion, versus his growing feelings towards Harlow. His internal struggle was as usual brilliantly felt and described through his thoughts, and revealed once again K. Bromberg's deep and organic character build up.

The woman’s a force to be reckoned with and damn do I want to be reckoned by her.
Hands down. No question.

She fazes me all right. Grabs me by the balls and makes me want like I’ve never wanted before.

Harlow was just superb! From start to finish, feisty and outspoken, yes, but also so mature, so level headed till the very end, and one of the most rational, yet still emotional, female main characters I had the pleasure to read. She was a lady through and through and I can honestly say, one of my all time fav romance heroines.

“Life’s not a fairytale.”
“For some people like my mom it is. For others . . . they have to write their own.

Love is . . . love is the one thing in life that doesn’t need to be taught. It just is. You can’t help it when you feel it. You can fight it—God knows I have in the past—but fighting it doesn’t do you any good. You’re still going to feel it even when the fight has run out.”

“Zane Phillips, you deserve the kind of love that makes you believe in love.”

Awww... How Faking It was anything but. I felt it ALL! The delicious banter, the scorching chemistry and sexy scenes, the slow but enrapturing emotional build up, and the overall 'contemporary fairytale' romance feel was an outstanding winning formula! And that beautiful, and spot on epilogue just wrapped it up in the most charming of ways. Ms. Bromberg did it once again, and got me hooked from start to finish and craving even more! Can't wait to see what she brings us new! Already hyper excited! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I’m not a knight in shining armor, Harlow—far, far from it—but I know I can be the man you deserve.

Sure, you played me at my own game to start this all . . . but it’s been me that’s been played ever since.”

If you’ve missed K. Bromberg’s words like me, then you will be chomping at the bit for her latest standalone, 𝐅𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐭. Zane and Harlow’s romance was an original delight. It was fast-paced, extremely witty and entertaining, steamy, and comical. I couldn’t get enough of these two.

It starts off with quite the meet-cute, although “cute” might be a strong word in this circumstance. It delved into an immediate enemies-to-lovers vibe, rounding out to a fake girlfriend/boyfriend experience. It was a sexy package with great writing, an entertaining storyline, and a couple that was so easy to root for. Ms. Bromberg has satisfied me for now with this fantastic romance, but I know the craving for more of her words isn’t far behind.
