Sidecar Crush is book two in the Bootleg Springs series by Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score.
Jameson Bodine was always the quietest of the Bodine brothers, the sensitive one. He learned early on how to sort of disappear when his father was in one of his drunken rages. He also learned early on that he had a love for creating. Especially metal. He was now a gifted metal artist and was working on his biggest commission yet.
Leah Mae Larkin lived in Bootleg Springs, W. Virginia until she was twelve years old when her parents split. Her mother moved them to Florida but she still spent her summers in Bootleg until she was sixteen. She had known Jameson since they were kids and he was her best friend. As they got older, she had a crush on him but never said anything. When she had to move away, it broke her heart but they still had their summers together until the disappearance of Callie Kendall. Then her mother wouldn’t let her come at all. But by then her modeling career had taken off and her life changed. Now, at twenty eight, her modeling was tapering off so her manager/fiancé had gotten her a part in a reality show in an effort to launch her into television. But the show, which had already finished taping and was now airing, was portraying her in an untrue way, making it look like she had something going with a married man. Making her out to be a home wrecker.
Leah Mae’s father still lives in Bootleg Springs and he is sick. It’s the perfect time for she and her fiancé, Kelvin, to take some time off and see her Dad. Only once she’s home, she quickly realizes how much she missed home. How much the life she’s been living has been draining her. She is also able to see her fiancé in a new light. That maybe he’s not the man she thought he was. That maybe she was with him for all the wrong reasons. She’s also excited about spending some time with her childhood best friend again. Only she wasn’t prepared for how much Jameson had changed. He most certainly wasn’t a boy anymore.

Jameson and Leah Mae finally are free to rekindle their friendship which quickly grows to more. These two were perfect for each other. Jameson melted me with his kindness, his southern manners. But my oh my, that southern gentleman was a whole different person behind closed doors.

I loved this. We have the ongoing mystery of the disappearance of Callie Kendall and the clues that are pointing to the Bodine siblings deceased father. I’m starting to develop a little bit of a theory on this but I’m going to keep that to myself. We’ll see if I still feel the same way with the next book! Mostly, though, I just love this family. These brothers and one sister are all so close in their own way. They stick together no matter what. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this one as well. I loved watching the brothers dole out some of their Bootleg justice. And as I said, Jameson is such a gentleman. I melted a bit more when Leah Mae talked about the Jameson effect. Wherever he went, women swooned at his feet. They just couldn’t help themselves. I’m definitely hooked on this family and I can’t wait for more. I don’t know who gets their story next but it can’t get here fast enough.

Another cozy, feel good entry in Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley's Bootleg Springs series. We get a few more clues toward Callie's disappearance, plus a romance featuring the quietest Bodine brother, Jameson, and former resident turned model/actress Leah Mae Larkin. Predictable, but heartwarming and comforting, I can't wait to carry on with these books and see how everyone's story wraps up.

Such an adorable and sweet hero! Swoon! Liked him a lot!
Really good guy, maybe a bit shy – I would say closed – but a strong and caring man.
I wouldn’t throw him out of my bed *lol*
Very likable heroine. I wish they gave her more revenge/justice, I wish the whole crap ‘misunderstanding’/manipulation with this chip TV show would have been solved and the truth came out. I hated how the society treated her, but I loved how her hometown stood behind her and supported her!
The only possible trigger I can think about – the heroine was engaged to OM as she came back to Bootleg Springs. This OM’s bad character was a bit too exaggerated, IMO.
No cheating! MCs were attracted to each other while she was still engaged, but they kissed only a month later after the h broke up with OM.
The conflict toward the end, H’s doubts, crashed his charter a bit (in my eyes), but I could understand why he thought it. It was still unfair toward the h and I’m always on woman’s side, but her reaction/backbone saved it for me.
Food fight?! Hmm… weird. But it’s Bootleg Springs *lol*
Cute epilogue. But I expected it to be more in the future!!!
Since there’s suspense, I’ll read all books, but Gibson’s character -> WTF??? Such an a§§hole!!!
I even thought for a bit they would pair him with the lost girl, when and if she will be found alive.

I read the first book a while back and recently noticed that there were several more, so I thought I'd continue with the series. We all know that is a dangerous idea. It's hard to live up to first books. This one did okay, though. It was lacking some of the cuteness that came from the first book's hero in having culture-shock from the redneck way of life. That was part of the charm of the first book. In this one both the H and h were from the redneck town so it wasn't weird to them. So it was just okay, not special.
The guy was Jameson, an artist, and Leah, a model/actress who is currently in a reality show. She's the slut and villain of the show, but she's not like that in real life. It seems that the producers were editing her that way and that the show was scripted. What? Reality shows aren't real? My whole world is crashing down! The television people lie to us? I'm shook.
Nothing sexier than an intervention.
Leah and Jameson were best friends as children but then she moved away. She comes back into town now with a fiance to see her sick father. And, of course her fiance is a horrible asshole. If not, how could we hate him? It's kind of a thing in these books to make all exes and other people who may be interested in a main character out to be assholes. It's much more fun to root for a couple to break up when one of them is horrible. Not so fun to root for a really nice person to get their heart broken. So, okay. I'll allow it.
Wow, now I need to know. Who IS your ex? I think we should all keep an eye on her activities. Oh, wait. I'll just tell Alexa to do that. She'll take care of it.
So, these two crazy rednecks fall in love, then problems-problems-problems, lots of sex, the end.

I really liked the first book of the series: Whiskey Chaser; but the heroine in this book, Leah Mae, is the ultimate TSTL female and I'm afraid I'll burst a blood vessel.

The audio experience was better...
I enjoyed listening to Sidecar Crush more than reading. It's probably unfair considering I enjoyed it more because I knew that Leah Mae doesn't stay with the douchewaffle she starts with. It also helped to go in knowing that Leah Mae gets her priorities straight and chooses happiness over a career that leaves her dissatisfied.
I tell you what... I can't wait for Gibson's story. The way Stephen Dexter goes all gruff and gravelly when performing as Gibson, very, very nice. Natalie Duke does an awesome job of narrating too. Together, they work really well and definitely brought the characters to life.
I can't help myself, I must go on Bootleg Spring...ing my way through this series.

I much preferred Leah Mae to famous Leah...
It's Boxing Day here in Australia and I feel like I have Christmas Hangover. The best remedy for a Christmas hangover is reading and coffee, in my opinion. Unfortunately, this means that reviewing is not my highest priority today. I finished Sidecar Crush, wanted to share my enjoyment, so decided that my review would be short and sweet. Here goes...
I do not see the appeal of being famous. This could be because I'm not one for being observed or scrutinised. I hate the idea that people could be assessing my every word or clothing choice. I'm also not a fan of "putting on a face" for the public. So, considering all this, I found it hard to connect with Leah Mae in the beginning. I found it even harder to understand how a quiet, extremely private and shy person like Jameson would or could be a perfect match for Leah Mae. But, as time went on, Leah Mae's shell cracked and we saw the real instead of the reality "Leah".
At times Leah Mae's blind commitment to her career seemed stupid. How could she be so easily manipulated? How on earth could she love let alone like Kevin...I mean Kelvin? The guy was an absolute DOUCHEWAFFLE. Even the two seconds worth of contemplation Leah Mae did when faced with taking on a new contract had me confused.
What did make this story enjoyable is that we get to see both Leah Mae and Jameson work through their problems (real-life and relationship) using their brains. This does not mean each problem was faced in the same way. Sometimes it was a group effort where talking it out gets the result. Another time it was standing up for yourself with support at the ready. There were even times when it was just a matter of sitting down and contemplating the situation. It was just so realistic and quite refreshing.
Four stars instead of five because the big "L" came out a wee bit too quickly when I think it should have been the little "l" for lust instead. I know that they had known each other since they were kids and hadn't acted on their initial attraction, but jeez, it was together...then straight to love. I may have eye-rolled a smidgen.
I love the Bodine's and I probably haven't given Jameson a big enough dedication to all his goodness. Let's just say there isn't a lot I could find fault in. I don't mind that he's the quiet one in the bunch. Quiet doesn't mean he won't hand out a dose of "Bootleg Justice" when it's called for. He also won't hesitate to get up to a wee bit of shenanigans with the Bodine's. Jameson is a HOTTIE a sweetheart and a sensitive gentleman. Very swoon-worthy.
More words than I thought I was capable of, to be honest. I'm about to go and have my afternoon kip. To sum up...Leah Mae eventually works out where her priorities are and being famous is not as good as holding your head up with pride. Jameson realises that being invisible is no longer the way he wants to live his life and now that his career has taken off, there will be no chance of being forgotten.
I love the way each instalment comes to its conclusion. I get the happy buzz of a contemporary romance finishing on a high and a love story I believe can go the distance.

The Bodine Men are absolute gentlemen and yet, they are not afraid to raise a little hell! If you are looking for a light and beautiful contemporary romance with complex characters and small-town drama, look no further! A trip to Bootleg is exactly what you need. I look forward to the next book in the series. Sidecar Crush is another winner from Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley!

2nd book in what is promised by the authors to be a six book series.
The fictional town of Bootleg Springs is wild and a little wacky (moonshine and rednecks abound) but these romances are very sweet and also pretty sexy stuff.
I am enjoying the antics of these crazy Bodine brothers and their sister Scarlet.
This is Leah and Jameson's love story. Jameson is reserved and a little shy, the tortured artist type and I guess you could say Leah is almost like his muse.
He has been smitten with her since they were teenagers and when she returns to Bootleg Springs to visit her ailing father, the sparks fly between them.

Only distractor is the side plot surrounding the mystery disappearance of a local girl Callie Kendall that happened many years ago. The authors promise to reveal a little more with each story but it is totally unnecessary in my opinion but maybe I will change my mind as the series progresses.
For anybody unfamiliar with these authors solo work, check them out. I especially love Claire Kingsley, have read several and highly recommend reading " His Heart".

I just got really tired of Leah Mae, so I quit at a third in. The problem is that Leah Mae's engagement just doesn't work and it's the only thing keeping these two from falling back together. So I hate it and I have no respect for her as a result. I mean, it says something not-good about her that she's engaged to a selfish snot-waffle with the empathy of a cheese fry. He hates things she loves and he's tanking her career while he's at it. And she's all appease, appease, appease and I'm supposed to take her seriously as an adult? Let alone as a love interest for a really great guy with just rivers of depth under his quiet surface? Yeah, no.
The problem is that hating that engagement makes me question everything about her. How can so shallow a girl have anything in common with the sensitive Jameson? I think Kingsley wants us to buy that she has suppressed depth to her, but her attachment to the guy with the stupid name undermines everything about her character and since that's the only thing in the way I'm just not buying what she's selling.
I'm sad it turns out this way, but I'm still going to give the next book a shot. I love the setting even more and I still had a couple laugh out loud moments. It just isn't enough to put up with the pile of stupid brought in by the snot-waffle.

This was sweet! I loved Jameson! He and Leah Mae were a great match. I’m still not sure I will read Gibson’s book. So far Jameson is my favorite hero of the series!

I love Bootleg Springs and I love revisiting Scarlett and Devlin. I only liked Jameson and Leah Mae. This was a very pleasant story with a nice couple. It just lacked the tension and the passion of the first book. Then again, Scarlett was a kickass heroine, Devlin had the right mix of alpha in the sheets/beta in the streets that I love and it's hard to live up to IMO. I liked the little tidbits for the overarching mystery, and I absolutely will continue with this series. This just had a different vibe to the story and if a relatively easy read is what you're in the mood for, you may enjoy this.

I didn't like MCs, I didn't like the story.
The heroine was engaged and she was feeling something for hero.... She dumped her fiancé and next day she making out with hero??!!! And she was engaged to a man who spent a lot time near the mirror!! Girl, it's just not right!!
Ok, there wasn't any cheating but it felt like it.
Hero,.... He was so insecure about what he felt and wanted to feel about his girl... I like my hero more secure, more stable and a lot more alpha!!!

Sidecar Crush was a really sweet and cute childhood friends to lovers, small town romance. This is book 2 in the Bootleg Springs series and though each book features a different couple, this series should be read in order. The audiobooks are wonderfully narrated by Stephen Dexter and Natalie Duke, and they do an amazing job again bringing these characters to life.
I loved the history and childhood friendship between Jameson and Leah Mae. They both struggle in different ways with confidence and finding themselves, but no matter what, they never stop supporting and caring for each other. It did bother me though that for almost half the book, Leah Mae is technically engaged to another man (even though you can see the expiration date right from the start). So I appreciated that the romance wasn't rushed between Jameson and Leah Mae and that they got to know each other again as adults without any other external drama. There is some push away and angst late in the story, but the ending couldn't have been sweeter. The Bodine family antics and Bootleg justice provided plenty of comic relief throughout, but I did feel that the overall pacing of the story was a little slow. There wasn't too much movement on the Callie Kendall mystery, but more hints were dropped about Cassidy and Bowie's story and I'm really looking forward to their book.

Welcome back to Bootleg Springs! My bags are packed and I’m ready to go! I adore everything about it there. The physical location is beautiful, and the atmosphere is even better! I fell head over heels in Whiskey Chaser, and my love only grew through Jameson and Leah Mae’s story. This book had me laughing hysterically, tearing up, and cheering this couple on.

You will adore this book! It has everything. Comedy, love, a little angst, family, and more hints on the mystery of Callie’s disappearance. My only complaint was that it, like all things, had to come to an end. I could read about Bootleg Springs forever! I can’t wait to see who is next!

I read a LOT of books every year. And the majority of those books fall somewhere in the romance genre. So it’s fair to say that I am exposed to a good number of hot, handsome heroes and swoony plot moments. And there are more than a few stunning first kiss scenes in those books, as well. So believe me when I say that the first kiss scene in this book BLEW. ME. AWAY.
If you read my review for the first book in the series, Whiskey Chaser, you’ll know how absolutely enamored I became with the town of Bootleg Springs and all its residents. The town chicken, the bonfire/beach day parties and the hilarious Bootleg Justice? All will make appearances in this second installment. As will all of the members of the Bodine Family, and their loyal sidekicks.
Jameson Bodine is a loner. Some might go so far as to call him a hermit. Labeled as oversensitive and too artsy by a hypercritical father as he grew up, he’s learned to just remove himself from social situations. He’s done the long distance friend with benefits thing, so he’s no stranger to physical relationships. But he prefers to spend his time in his workshop, crafting recycled metals into things of beauty. And he’s fine living life in the background, doing his own thing, until Leah Mae comes back to town.

This book checked all the boxes. Smart? Check. Laugh out loud? Check. Sweet? Check. Steamy? Check! I loved the way this book picked up seamlessly where the first one left off, especially considering it was written by Claire and the first one was Lucy's. They stayed true to every character, something I haven't found to be true with any other team-written series. Jameson is the sweet, quiet brother, but that does not make him weak or a doormat. He is strong and brave, and his manners had me swooning. Leah Mae is confident enough to know when she needs to stand up for herself and she takes a giant leap of faith in changing her life. Neither of them are perfect, but they love each other and embrace the imperfections, much like real couples do. The poker game and taco bar might have been my favorite part, or maybe it was Mona Lisa Chicken McNugget pecking at Kelvin, who totally deserved everything he was thrown. But seriously, this family is under my skin; I want to hang out with them! I thoroughly enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story, and I adore Bootleg Springs. I can't wait for the next one!

Jameson is the quietest of the Bodine family, he is actually an artist and a lonesome soul. The only friend he has, besides his brothers, is a girl who left Bootleg Springs in search of fame. But Leah Mae is back into town with her supposed fiancé and her encounter with Jameson will trigger strong emotions she had hidden for so long. Together they will build a relationship that initially, owing to her career is unstable but later their bond will go stronger and stronger letting her realize that she is meant to stay for good. This book was so good for my heart. It is full of good and genuine feelings, both characters have a strong sense of family but mostly they are open minded. This book! If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, make you swoon and make you tear up, then this is the story for you! There are so many, many funny moments in this book. Bootleg justice is alive and well! Jameson is about as swoony as a hero gets. Seriously, this man is all southern charm and deliciousness. And there are so many (happy) tear moments. Add in one of the best first kisses I have ever read and an epilogue that I will NEVER forget? Perfect!
This is a great series! I loved Whiskey Chaser and Sidecar Crush is a fantastic addition to this series. We learn more about Callie and the mystery of her disappearance. I can't wait for more from these two fabulous authors!!

actually, i’ve changed my mind. rating this down to 2 because of leah mae's travesty in breaking off her engagement. sure, her fiancee was a douche (who in right mind wants his girl to be in a reverse harem reality tv show for money and fame?? 😂), but would she break it off had she not rekindled her friendship with jameson? i bet she wouldn't.

I don't give out five star reviews very often but just like the first book in this series, Sidecar Crush is worth it. Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite romance authors and her partnership with Lucy Score has resulted in a series that pulls the reader in and makes them want to stay in Bootleg Springs. I loved Scarlett's character in Whisky Chaser, but I think her brother Jameson is one of my favorite male lead characters. He is the total package - strong, protective, loyal, sweet, romantic, sexy and feels everything a bit more than his siblings. He holds things in and has some baggage about who he is as a man that stem from his father and his childhood. Really, the entire cast of characters is terrific. Leah Mae is a perfect partner for Jameson and it was a pleasure to watch them reconnect tentatively at first and then realize that the friendship they had as children could turn into real lasting love.
The Bodine siblings and their friends along with the citizens of Bootleg Springs are so well crafted and dimensional that they all just come alive on the page. With each book more layers are revealed both in their personalities as well as the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a young girl from Bootleg Springs years before. Each sibling is unique in personality yet appeals to all readers. When one story ends you immediately want to see what is in store for the next Bodine, because these boys are going to fall hard.
This if a fabulous series that at it's core is about love and family. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series. My hats off to both Claire and Lucy for creating this series, these characters and this town - this is a special series and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well written romance with great well rounded, dimensional characters, emotion packed story lines and a family everyone will fall in love with.

With each book more layers are revealed both in their personalities as well as the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a young girl from Bootleg Springs years before. Each sibling is unique in personality yet appeals to all readers. When one story ends you immediately want to see what is in store for the next Bodine, because these boys are going to fall hard.
This if a fabulous series that at it's core is about love and family. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series. My hats off to both Claire and Lucy for creating this series, these characters and this town - this is a special series and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well written romance with great well rounded, dimensional characters, emotion packed story lines and a family everyone will fall in love with.

I just finished Sidecar Crush by Claire Kingsley with Lucy Score and y’all let me tell you about this book!
When I first visited Bootleg Springs in Scarlett’s book I fell instantly in love with the Bodine family and the amazing cast of characters. In Sidecar Crush you’re right back in a town full of southern hospitality, loyalty, mischief, and moonshine. Jameson Bodine is a breath of fresh air. Jame is used to being overlooked. Craves it actually. So when a friend from the past, now in the form of a model/reality tv star, makes a surprise return to Bootleg you don’t really expect her to be “the one.” I loved this story. Friends to lovers is always worth a read for me, but add in a genuine gentleman that oozes sex appeal while drowning us all in charm and the odds of this book being 5 ⭐️’s skyrockets. Leah Mae is sweet and beautiful but confused about her current career choices and what the future should hold for her. Bootleg is a great place to find yourself once you’ve been lost. What I love most about this series is the town as whole. All the players make these books so special. I’m quite partial to June Bug myself. All in all this book is charming and funny and absolutely worth reading. Please join us in Bootleg Springs for some fun and romance. You’ll love it “to the stars and back.”

Jameson Bodine is the sweet, quiet artistic-type you can’t help but love. Leah Mae is probably the most down-to-earth model/actress in the US. These best friends were obviously meant to be from the beginning - and I loved them! This story carries on the hilarious quirky small town feel from the first book, including some amazing “Bootleg Justice”. There were side stories within this book that brought tears to my eyes with the love we see between the Bodine family. We also got a little more information into the mysterious disappearance of Callie Kendall.
And on top of all of that, it has an amazing romance between two friends that was both heartwarming and sizzling hot! Claire Kingsley knocked this one out of the park with humor, heat, true love in many forms, and that amazing overall small town feel I crave.
Once again I am in awe of the amazing storytelling that is going into this series by my two favorite authors! I can’t wait for book 3!

El planteo es similar al libro anterior. En vez del "forastero ", tenemos el "regreso al pueblo".
Los protagonistas se conocen desde niños, fueron mejores amigos y no se han vuelto a ver desde la adolescencia.
Ella es una modelo famosa y él un artista ermitaño.
Si bien no encontré la misma química que en el libro anterior, la historia es bonita y divertida.
Un poco cringe la escena de hombres de 30 arrojándose comida, pero tampoco para tanto.
Si buscas algo light, para desconectar y además te quedo la intriga del misterio planteado en el primer libro, es una gran opción.

I fell in love with Bootleg Springs in Whiskey Chaser but that ante has been raised with Sidecar Crush! I am so invested with this cast of characters.
Jameson Bodine and Leah Mae are childhood best friends, reconnected, a couple you are going to love and root for from page one.
Sidecar Crush is a love story of pure sweetness, wrapped in heat, humor, and tinged with mystery!
I loved this story to the stars and back.
