Love isn't always about timing.
Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and roll with it.

I admit I wasn't ready.
I know you don't want to look at me, let alone talk to me, but please, let me explain.
Let me tell you all the ways my heart broke when you walked away.
Let me show you what our years apart have done to me.

Give me a chance to find my way back to you . . .

“You’ve always had me, Sprite… you’ll always have me.”

From the moment I finished reading Then There was You, I was dying to get my hands on this book. Tessa and Rowan’s story was left in such a way, I NEEDED to see what happened between them. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long. I wish all authors released books this close together that have painful cliffhangers!

The timing for Tessa and Rowan to be together has never really worked out. Something was always fighting against them. They both had moments they didn’t make the right choices, and it left scars on them both. But now, maybe now is their time. They are in the same city, the same circle, and thrust back into each others lives like it was meant to be. Before anything can happen between them, they have to learn to trust each other again. And that may prove to be difficult since there is one big secret between them…

This book has that ONE THING I usually cannot stand in a book, but some how, some way, Claire had me over looking it. I think the fact that . I am actually amazed that I loved this book as much as I did, because that can often be a deal-breaker for me.

My way Back to You is addicting, well written, emotional, and sexy. This duet has completely captivated me. If you’re looking for a story full of angst, love, and steam, pick up these books!

➳The world separated them from being together but their fate is bringing them back home to finding their inner love and passion that they truly have for each other...

➳I am keeping this review short and sweet because I actually adored the second part to this novel. This one by far is my favorite for sure. I don't know how it happened that I ended up liking this book better than the previous one, but it did y'all. Rowan has never been so attractive now that he has gained that retrospective of being possessive over Tessa. Their love for each other is one that throughout the years of being apart never seemed to diminish. Even when they saw each other for like five minutes, their love and passion was still there. Now this is what a true second chance romance is all about. Going through the struggles and obstacles life makes you go through, that's what Rowan and Tessa indulges you to read more and more about their true love story.

➳Overall, Claire Contreras has reached that point in her life where anything she seems to write, at least for me, it's just a masterpiece of its own. We get a better understanding and the enhancement there is when reading her writing. As a personal state of mind, I love how she incorporated a part of her personal life struggle in this story. It's something that is warm-hearted and makes you comfort to the characters. This duet series will never get old for me that's for sure, and I look forward to reading more of her upcoming novels...

I craved getting to the end of this book. I obsessed over getting the conclusion of Rowen & Tessa’s story. I simply couldn’t wait.

I imagined the story going one way, then another way, and of course another way too. So when I started reading this story, the second half of this duet, I was like “Noooooo” it just can’t be this way........ here’s the thing..... it was fucking perfect the way it played out in this conclusion. That’s all I am going to say.

I AM SO HAPPY with the conclusion of this book. Yes, it wasn’t the way I thought or imagined but gosh dang it, it worked so well.

So without going into how much I love or like or hate any part or person or character in this whole story, I will say this, if you love angst, if you love second chances, if you love an ultimate lifetime love story, and if you crave that emotional read, this is for you. Don’t hesitate, pick this one up.

5 "I Bleed For You" Stars!
(ARC provided by author)

-I’d known him my entire life and had been in love with him most of it as well.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Book one in the Second Chances Duet totally consumed me, and this book was just as addictive as the first. I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up most of the night and finished it in less than a day. Book two picks up where the first book left off, and we get answers to a lot of questions.

Tessa has built a wonderful life for herself in Paris. She’s picked up the pieces of her broken heart, and moved on. She’s embraced Europe, and is enjoying working in the fashion industry. She’s in a good place with her career, and has a supportive, close family. Her life is hers, and doesn’t revolve around a man.

Rowan has had to live with the choices he made, and the life that he chose. He’s been busy expanding and rebranding Hawthorne Industries while growing his textile empire. He’s focused all his energy on his company, and trying to get his life in order so he can go after the love of his life. He’s spent the last few years regretting his decision to let Tessa go. He didn’t want to walk back into her life until he had something to offer her. He had a plan, and hoped she would one day be his future.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Circumstances put Rowan and Tessa together again. When their paths cross Tessa isn’t prepared for all she feels at just the sight of him. This man she’s loved her entire life still owns her heart. She thought she was finally over him, but seeing him again, she knew they would always have this undeniable connection that couldn’t be broken.

Time hasn’t changed their feelings, and Rowan will do whatever it takes to be with Tessa again. He wants to be a part of her life in every way, and is ready to prove to her he’s changed. He shows her with his actions and his heart that she’s everything to him.

-Some people were impossible to get over. You could make yourself move past them, but deep down you knew you’d never fully be rid of them.

-There was still that invisible line between us that seemed to vibrate whenever she was near.

-I’d never done anything to deserve her attention or her love, yet, she gave it to me continuously without asking for anything in return.

-“I’m sorry.” “What are you apologizing for?” “ Everything.”

-“Are you saying that because you regret the decision you made?”

-“Every day of my life.”

I adored this book! It was everything I wanted and more. This couple finds their way back to each other in this beautiful second chance romance. It’s a complex story full of angst, passion, emotion, and all consuming love. Rowan redeems himself, and is absolutely swoon worthy! We also get an appearance from a man I was crazy over in another series of Claire’s. I hope we get a book for Freddie. I find myself craving more of his story. I highly recommend this book. It’s one of those stories that reminds me why I love reading. This series is my favorite I’ve read this year! It’s amazing and unforgettable!

One thing I learned in the aftermath of our love was that my heart can crack, break into a million pieces, and shatter like glass, but it kept beating.

MY WAY BACK TO YOU, the conclusion of the Second Chances Duet, had considerably less angst than its predecessor, which I was highly grateful for. I love a good angsty story but the first book bordered on torturous for me. After having finished it, I was left feeling absolutely no connection to Tessa or Rowan. I thought Rowan’s reasons for doing what he did were lame and eye-roll inducing. I ended up liking Tessa’s character in this book and overall I was happy with how things turned out. These two had been through enough and four years of separation was a bit excessive.

Years after Rowan and Tessa were torn apart by seemingly impossible circumstances, Tessa is moving back to New York with her four-year-old son, Miles, for a job promotion. Rowan and Tessa have bumped into each other a few times over the years, and in all that time she has kept the fact that he’s the father of her child a secret from Rowan and almost everyone except her grandmother and sister. She struggled with her decision and felt extremely guilty for keeping Rowan from his son, but she couldn’t risk her son being subjected to the likes of his evil wife and mother. When a very important project is assigned to her at work she is forced to spend a great deal of time with Rowan since her company is using his textiles and also helping to promote one of it’s newest business endeavors. When Rowan figures out Miles is his son, he’s a bit shocked and hurt but Tessa is the love of his life and all he wants more than anything is to be with his new family.

While he tries to get his life in order by making his divorce with Camryn final, Rowan and Tessa start to rebuild what they once had. But will the unpredictable and slightly unstable soon to be ex-wife go out quietly or will she do her best to keep the lovers apart for many more years to come?

Having a son and building her career seemed to bring about growth for the character of Tessa. I found that I could be empathetic towards her when in the first book I wasn’t really crazy about her. I continued to have a hard time warming up completely to Rowan. He’s still my least favorite Hero created by Claire Contreras. He should have learned from his father’s mistakes rather than repeating them. He also states a few times throughout this story that he wouldn’t have done things differently. Having control over his company still outweighed living a blissed-out life with the only woman he ever loved. If he kept to that motto to the very end, I definitely would have rated this book lower.

Here are my overall ratings:
Hero: 3.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Heros & Heroine: 5

"Don't ever leave me baby."
description

My Way Back to You is the second book, and conclusion, of the Second Chances Duet. After the painful cliffhanger in Then There Was You, the first book in the duet, I could NOT wait to get my hands on this!

description
"It all felt like too much. I'd wanted to. Let go of everything building inside me, but the way he was looking at me only added more weight, making me fuller."
Tessa has taken the pieces of her broken world and tried to find strength from her family. She has two goals for herself: make a successful career for herself and forget about Rowan. Rowan is miserable and lost without Tessa. Once he realizes what he has let go, will he have the strength to convince Tessa to take him back?

description
"You get the chick, lose the chick, hope to God you can get the chick back again."
Told in dual POV, My Way Back to You is a complex blend of passion, heartbreak, broken promises, and transformation. The break between Tessa and Rowan is painful and messy. And yet, the circumstances they were able to overcome only made their bond closer. The writing is colored with emotion as each intense moment unfolds. With both characters making mistakes it felt as if they truly learned to accept and love one another unconditionally. I am not normally a fan of angst and yet, I found myself completely invested in Tessa and Rowan.

description

Overall, My Way Back to You will appeal to readers who enjoy a beautifully written second chance romance. With complex characters, passion, and tender romance, Tessa and Rowan are one love story you will never forget. I have long been a fan of Ms. Contreras' work. Her storytelling and beautiful characters will hold you captive and live on in your mind forever!

KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

MY WAY BACK TO YOU:
This is the conclusion of ‘Then There was You’ by Claire Contreras ‘Second Chances Duet’ It picks up where the first book left off. Yet again spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’

This was one of my highly anticipated books that I couldn’t wait to get my grabby hands on, all questions that were left up in the air in the first book are finally answered!!

The timing was never right for these two we saw it in book#1 and it looks like timing was yet again against them in the beginning of this book also. Missed opportunities raised it's ugly head again.

Tessa is being sent all over the world through her job with Prim for conference after conference, new information and experiences she never dreamed about, although it doesn’t leave much for her designing talents she’s enjoying what life has to offer her.

Rowan’s still struggling with his decision to marry for the good of the company, losing the love of his life and is counting down the time when he can get out of that binding contract that’s got him by the balls.

Years later (4 to be exact)

With a new job on the horizon with the same company Prim that Tessa runs sees Tessa moving back home to New York.

Right back to where it all started.

And that marriage of convenience contract that Rowan was stuck in has finally run it’s course but what would this book be without Camryn dramas, she brings a whole new level of craziness to this book so get ready to go on a frustrating angst filled ride.

The love these two felt for each other never dimmed once throughout their time apart if anything it simmered away in the background and finally ignited when they came together again. It oozed off the pages.

Overall Opinion: Well....I still feel kind of meh about it all. I do feel like this could've been one book instead of a duet and better for it, because there was a lot stretched out that wasn't all that necessary in the long run. I also felt like the conflicts were resolved way too easily. Camryn and the H's mom?! I'm bummed because I am feeling the minority in not loving this duet 😔

Brief Summary of the Storyline: I'll keep this brief since this is the second book. This is the conclusion of Tessa and Rowan's story. This continues their story about four years later. Some big secrets get revealed, some big changes happen in both their lives, they have some sweet and sexy moments...and get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Tessa and Rowan's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Better until the end. The last 4 or 5 chapters seemed to have a lot of things being tied up and it was done so neatly that it felt like a whirlwind that wasn't all that believable. Otherwise, I never skimmed and I thought it flowed pretty well.

Instalove: No, but they had residual strong feelings from their past.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Rowan. He was like a different character in this one! I appreciated his persistence with the h.

h rating: 3 stars. Tessa. I understood her hesitation in allowing the H back in her life, but some of her behavior I didn't agree with.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Yes IMO

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had alright closure with what I would call a HEA ending

Safety: This one is probably Safe with exception or Not Safe for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences.

PLEASE DON'T READ MY REVIEW AND/OR THIS 2nd BOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOK YET!!!!

description

A few months have passed since we last saw Tessa and her pregnancy test in Paris.
She's still in Paris and she's loving her job.

But both Rowan and his brother, her good friend Sam, think that the baby is from a new guy she met in Paris.

She just can't bring herself to tell the truth.

What would be the point? Rowan is still married to that Camryn person.
Only for business, but still.

But what if/when he finds out he's a dad??

What will happen? Will he be mad? Will he want to be a dad? Can he get over how un-dad-like his dad and grandfather were? And does Tessa even want him back?

What will happen to Tessa & Rowan?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!

Eeeep - finally book #2!
We were left with a bit of a baby cliffy last time! ☺

And now here's the baby and poor Rowan thinks Tessa moved on with another guy.
Ugh. So sad.
And unfair. The poor guy. But he's also an idiot for marrying Camryn!

A lot of idiots have to get their lives on track for us to get that happily ever after!!!☺☺
And we love every heartbreaking and adorable moment of that journey!

Lots of very moving and heartbreaking and adorable moments. And lots of sparks are still flying between our darlings - ever after those few years apart. They just have to forgive each other to start their new life as a family.

Easier said than done. Especially when Rowan's 'wife' doesn't want to give up her nice life.

This 2nd book was really great. I liked it more than the first one. I had some problems with Rowan in the first book - but he's so much better now!!!!

The only thing that was still a bit weird. All those other characters like Freddie, Celia, Ryan and that PI guy. Are we ever gonna hear their stories??? Why was so much told about them? It only makes sense if there will be books about them.☺ I'd love to read Freddie's book! And all the others too!

MY WAY BACK TO YOU was the perfect finale in this heartbreaking & adorable second-and-third-chance-romance-family-drama duet! Run to your nearest amazon for your own ROWAN - this one is MINE!!!

“I love you, Tessa Monte. I bleed for you.”

I’m going to make this one short and sweet and I don't want to go into detail because I don't want to spoil a thing. I absolutely loved this book. Absolutely. Completely. I was completely hooked and this book consumed me. I loved how the story developed and it gave me all the feels, all of them. I love second chance romances, I just love them. They’re messy, they’re beautiful and most importantly, real. Relatable, that’s what I’m looking for. That people make mistakes, that they let go of “the one”, either because they were not ready, or mature, or simply stupid. So what do you do? You make amends, you hope it works and you fight for love. And this is exactly what happens in this book!

“I’m saying that I can’t take back the last four years of my life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t change the way things will be going forward,”

This right there is why I loved this book. A true second chance romance and definitely what I was looking for. Making mistakes, learning from them and fixing them. I loved both main characters. Tessa was great, I thought she was strong and resilient. And Rowan, what can I say, he was just wonderful. I loved his determination and his love for Tessa.

“Rowan, I know you,” I said. “Did you forget? I know you better than most.”

“You know me better than all.”

Overall, I loved this. The entire book gave me feels and that Epilogue owned my heart. Claire is definitely the queen of second chances and I’m so glad she’s back! I can’t wait to see what she brings us next. I absolutely recommend My Way Back to You. Keep in my that this is Book of a duet so reading Book 1: Then There Was You is required.

“What I’m trying to say is that I love you, Tessa Monte. I bleed for you. You’re the only woman in the world who can make me believe that love exists. The only woman in the world I’d ever want tied to me for an eternity.”

4-4.5 ★'s

This story starts right up where the last one ended...and that's not in a good place. We get to find out what's going on with Rowan and Tessa. I do have to say that I think Claire Contreras made a certain someone suffer in all the ways he needed too although I maybe wanted him to suffer a bit more.

Those "four" years that were in the contract jump pretty quickly...thank goodness, and we can finally get to the good stuff. I didn't think it was as angsty as the first book, I guess because I didn't mind Rowan having to suffer. Well, except for the one significant part...that was hard.

I really enjoyed seeing Rowan's growth. It was something he really needed...and something he needed for his relationship with Tessa. It made me laugh how Tessa tried to be strong.

description

There is a lot of drama, of course, Camryn's still in the picture. Ugh...but I think that was handled well too, especially that part at the end.

Sam and Chloe were sweet and I liked getting to know Tessa's brother, Freddie, and sister, Celia, better. I hope ALL of them get books. And...who in the heck is this Dean? Has he been in one of Claire Contreras books? If not, he needs one...or we need more of this crazy guy for sure!

A great ending to a great duet. I loved Rowan and Tessa and I'm sad to see them go. At the end of the book, there's a link for a bonus scene. You have to sign up for her newsletter to get it but it's worth it.

My suspicions were right. What’s new? Of course she wasn’t going to be harder on him. And for a (stupid- 21st century people) marriage of convenience he enjoyed the perks. 😝

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Based solely on a review I read it seems like this heroine will be another weak pathetic doormat. One who after years without seeing the weak, loser hero, when she gets her sight on him again she won't be able to deny their connection of years ago. The rest we all know how will play out. Nothing new under the moon. Besides there's a trope I despise: she was pregnant and didn't tell the hero for 4 years. For what I read she should tell him and let him leave in regret with the stupid decisions he made.

Claire brings it. And she brings it hard.

If you’ve read Then There Was You. YOU ALREADY KNOWWWW. THAT ENDING. I’ve been dying to get my hands on the conclusion. I just knew Claire was gonna put my heart through the wringer. And she sure did.

Rowan and Tessa have been away from each other for 3 years now, after Rowan made a decision that would impact so many life’s. Tessa is now in NY after landing her dream position as a Creative Director for a top company. And Rowan is running his family’s company like he had always dreamed.

I’m leaving out some very important details because it’s a huge spoiler if you have not read Book one.

Tessa and Rowan are brought together to work on a project that just brings all the feelings back, as if they ever left. Rowan is trying to do anything and everything to win back Tessa’s heart.

Again, I’m leaving out a lot.

They have obstacles and challenges but this time around they will make it right. The steps to getting there is the tough part. The people keeping them apart is the rough part. But, what always will remain is these two are meant to be. They have a past that binds them, and they have a future that makes no room for heartache, anymore.

This story. This duet. These people. I always feel such a special connection to all of Claire’s characters. She writes perfectly imperfect love stories that make you FEEL every single word she throws at you.

If you love Angst. Read this.

If you love heartache. Read this.

If you love second chances. Read this.

If you love characters that will break you, and break you again. Read this.

To sum it up, read this. You can never go wrong with a Claire Contreras book. She again solidifies why she is a TOP romance author. She puts pen to paper love stories that will leave you breathless for a lifetime.

My one compliant. I WANT MORE.

CONGRATS C. You did it, again.

PS: I decided to review this series as a whole. This is a combined review for books 1 + 2!

“One thing I learned in the aftermath of our love was that my heart can crack, break into a million pieces, and shatter like glass, but it kept beating.”

This series is drama, angst, and heartbreak wrapped in a sexy package of heartwarming. Two books that suck you in and don’t spit you out until the last pages. If I had one word to described the Second Chance duet it would be: INTOXICATING. From the moment I started reading I was lost to these characters as they undid me, consumed me, and completely intoxicated me. There’s so much back and forth, so much push and pull, so much chaos and tension, so many delicious twists and turns which make the angst tangible and palpable. It’s a saga that, for the most part, kept me on my toes. If you’re an angst lover, you’ll devour book 1 like a last meal, and if you like sweet and heartfelt then book 2 will act like a balm to the angsty wounds that book 1 gave you. It’s truly a tumultuous tale that has has a bit of everything for everyone, and man, I really loved the ride.

The Second Chance duet is composed of two installments: Then There Was You (Bk #1) and My Way Back to You (Bk #2)! It follows the Hawthorne and Monte families—specifically Tessa Monte and Rowan Hawthorne. Tessa and Rowan grew up together, had a relationship in high school that fell apart when Ro went to college. They both go there separate ways, not staying in touch, until years later when Tessa is back in town to sell her parents house. In the first book the story unfolds in past and present chapters, inviting us to view the development of Tessa and Rowan’s romance but also showing the breakdown of that friendship and relationship. So much happens in these books. SO. FLIPPING. MUCH. But one thing is clear, it’s a roller coaster ride of emotion that’ll leave you absolutely winded.

Now obviously, I can't disclose details because of SPOILERS, but this series is about second chances, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Where book 1 is a full on angst-fest that ends with a jaw dropping cliff, the second book is a complete departure in tone. It’s sweeter, more mellow, more relaxed, way less tumultuous, but still manages moments of angst that squeeze your chest and make your tummy drop with feels.

Tessa and Ro are a couple who never quite find the right timing to make a relationship work. Rowan is closed off, broken from growing up in a home that oozed coldness. While Tessa is the opposite, her family (though somewhat in shambles) still manages to hold onto their connection and supports each other. Rowan and Tessa have to walk different paths in life and this is a showcase of the time it takes for them to work their way together. And man, is it bumpy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this second chance duet. The first book had me completely enrapture, gripped by the romantic drama that played out before my eyes. I was giddy with anticipation of what was coming in the second installment. Playing it out in my mind. And while My Way Back to You didn’t live up to what I initially thought it would be, it still kept me totally captivated. The full on raging angst-fest we saw in book 1, went in a totally different direction in book 2. And while I admit it took me a minute to feel where the second half was going, to ultimately accept the tempered down angst, I was still enthralled by this couple, still drawn to what would become of them! I couldn’t put it down, and I’m sad the ride is over. It was so good and gave me so many beautiful, romantic moments. I truly loved it. And I absolutely recommend this. You won’t regret reading!

Ratings:
Bk 1 - Then There Was You - 5 Stars.
Bk 2 - My Way Back to You - 3.5 - 4 Stars
Overall Series Rating: 4 Stars.

Okay, so we all know how the first book in this duet ended right? Tessa is in Paris working in her new job and getting on with life after everything that went down with Rowan at the courthouse. And then there was that cliff hanger thing……

I wasn’t sure how she was going to handle things with Rowan and I have to say that I was dissappointed in her during her time in Paris. I understand her thinking behind her decision but I didn’t agree with it.

This second instalment covers off about four years of their lives and Rowan is getting close to the end of that stupid marriage contract when Tessa moves back to New York. This is where things get interesting for everyone.

Camryn is still a raging bitch, Rowan is bogged down with regrets and Tessa has a lot of explaining to do. However, this is where the story captured me and didn’t let go until the final page.

Be prepared to feel frustrated, angry, sad, happy, swoony and to drown in many cute moments too as Rowan and Tessa try and make their way back to each other and the life they should have always had together.

‘…..but I’m yours. I have always been yours. I will forever be yours.’

This is a 3.5 Star book for me. While I love second chance romance, I felt like I was missing something here. Somehow this story lacked some of the deeper emotions I was wanting and truth be told, I felt like it was all a little too easy... that this story spanned years and there wasn’t more anger frustrated me a bit. It seemed like everything was wrapped in a pretty box with a bow on it.

Regardless of that.. I did devour this book because I wanted to see what would happen. I was rooting for them... for Miles... for a happily ever after.

I must say that Claire has definitely grown as a writer since I first read her. I enjoyed the story, the characters, the heat... overall she did a great job with this duet.

Sorry, but FUCK NO. This follow up book was nothing but cliché after cliché, so predictable to the end. But guess I shouldn't be surprised. Rowan didn't come off that great in the previous book. Wish I can say his character improved here but to me, he was still the weak man who failed the woman he loved. Repeatedly. He's probably one of the weakest, lackadaisical, non-alpha coward I've come across in second chance romance. You would think in 4 years, he would grow a pair and really fight for the woman he loves when reunited. But everything was too easy for this guy, he really didn't have to woo Tessa much in this sequel. Which is a damn shame. Sorry, this prick CHOSE someone else to marry despite this pathetic doormat sobbing and begging him not to in book 1. And later he wants to whine about how miserable his marriage is years later? Well, tough shit. No one forced his ass to marry another woman. Sorry, you made your bed, now lie in with the vile horrid witch you picked over the one you love.

It was also just ridiculous how easily Tessa forgave Rowan once she crossed path with him again. And in no time was just ready to resume their relationship because "lo and behold, it's 4 years later" and he's now ready to pursue her. Where is her pride? This guy dumped her like trash so many times! NEVER once put her first, never fought for her. He may say he's sorry, but I didn't feel the true depth of his remorse or agony. It pissed me off how he chose everyone and put everything before Tessa. His company, his parents, hell his marriage contract to Camryn. Sorry, I would NEVER respect, trust or willingly put my heart in someone's hand who doesn't value it. And who's proven to betray and wreck it over and over. Like when he dumped her in the past, head off to college and hooked up with Camryn. And poor Tessa had to hear about it back at home. Talk about an insensitive and callous jackass. His own aspirations and goals mattered more than the woman he claimed to care about. Guess that was why he was able to block Tessa out of his mind and heart. And continue on with life and marriage to Camryn. Truthfully, I was hoping his character would be redeemed but he was way too smug and entitled here. Like everything went according to plan...he can now pick up from where he left off with Tessa. The nerve! Sorry buddy but action speaks louder than words. Tessa might have forgiven this pitiful excuse of a man but for me he needed to GROVELED more and prove himself. His own thoughts below, when he finally had an attack of conscience, basically summed up his character perfectly.

"I had never deserved this woman. Not when we were kids, not when we were teenagers, not four years ago, and certainly not now. I'd never done anything to deserve her attention or her love, yet, she gave it to me continuously without asking for anything in return".

Very astute Rowan. I agree wholeheartedly

Despite this hot mess of a book, there were two things I did liked. Tessa being a strong mother and not being a celibate pining heroine. Although I initially disapprove of her keeping Miles a secret, I did understand her fears and reluctance. She did make an effort to reach out to Rowan after finding out about her pregnancy. Despite the a-hole marrying her foe and changing his number soonafter. Tessa should have tried harder but understandably, she was in such a delicate and fragile state during that time. Emotionally and physically. She had to move on with her life and I'm glad she did. But I honestly think she deserved better than Rowan. And should have held out for a real man worthy of her.

Now that is the way to end a duet! I can’t even tell you how anxious and excited I was to have this on my hands, especially with how the first book ended and left us hanging. But right when My Way Back To You landed on my Kindle, there was just no way I could’ve put this baby down once I cracked it open—I quickly got sucked back into the crazy whirlwind of Tessa and Rowan’s life. And honestly, I’m still reeling from all the emotions this book rained down on me.

Aside from the fact that this picks up right where Then There Was You left off, Claire Contreras did not hold back nor hesitate at all in dropping new bombs on us, left and right. I can guarantee you—right off the bat, you’ll ultimately be wrapped up with everything going on in this book, down to even the littlest bit. More so now that we have new characters to dote on, love and appreciate too.

“I don’t know a thing about love. I only know what I feel for you.”

In My Way Back To You, you’ll truly witness how hard Rowan wanted, tried and worked to get his family back. In the span of four years, you’ll see how much he’s realized and learned from his time apart from and letting that one person he loved and trusted for so many years go, and live a life away and separate from her. Mostly, you’ll feel the pull and power true love really has. It’s raw and real. It shattered my heart, especially with the heartache that came along with it and the huge bumps in the road these two had to go through, but it also made my heart swell and sing.

“I don’t just love you, Sprite. I bleed for you. Only for you.”

Not all parts of this book were pretty—trust me on that. Some made me swoon and giddy down to my toes. Some made me mad and frustrated and even sad. I didn’t fully agree with every decision Tessa made either. But then, I understood how it was all necessary. They were all hurdles that had to be overcome and at the end of the day, every single one of them were worth it. If this was the kind of ending they’ll have after everything they went through... if this was all it took for Miles to have the love and family he deserves... then I’ll take it. Because it was perfectly imperfect. It was the exact happy ever after they needed and then some.

Hands down, this is one of the most emotionally profound and beautifully heartbreaking second chance, friends-to-lovers romance I’ve read. Tessa and Rowan’s tale just pierced straight through my heart. They’ve burrowed their way in there and there’s no leaving for these characters anytime soon. Especially Miles—that sweet, adorable and brilliant cutie.

This is undoubtedly everything I hoped for in this book and more. So. Much. More. Claire Contreras was able to tie up this sweet and remarkably unforgettable story so perfectly and flawlessly, leaving me with a satisfied smile on my face and a hand on my chest. She just left me in a massive heap of feels after closing this book and that was all I could’ve ever asked for in this finale.

P. S. If you loved this story as hard and as much as I did, you’ll definitely want to read that bonus scene found after the epilogue. It’s an absolute must read. It’s one of the sweetest scenes and it made me melt all over again. I’m telling you, you can’t miss it for the world.

Full disclosure, I was initially left feeling a bit torn about my feelings on this book. I was left a riot of confused emotions that seemed to contradict one another when I finished reading. It took me a bit to reflect on all of it, to reconcile everything I felt while reading  and the conclusion I inevitably came to was surprising, even to myself.

First, I need to make something abundantly clear. I ENJOYED THIS BOOK. I really liked it. I actually couldn't put it down. But my inability to put it down is partially blamed on the fact that I was voraciously looking for the emotional depth and angsty drama that riddled the first book. I had such high hopes for the sequel, that My Way back to You would be another emotional rollercoaster ride, and because of that, I came away a smidge underwhelmed at first. This is NOT a reboot of book one. It has a decidedly different vibe than the first book and it took me a little while to come to terms with that. Time and circumstances and the characters themselves have changed quite a bit and so this sequel plays out in ways I didn't expect. To be honest, I struggled with that at first. I wanted more of that chaotic uncertainty. But once I let go of what I was missing, I could appreciate this for exactly what it is, a lush second chance romance that's intention is to fix what was broken and send these characters off in a way they deserve.

Then There Was You was layers upon layers of juicy angst, turbulent emotions and frustrating drama. I loved it. It had me riveted. The epic cliffhanger left me with so many questions, so many possibilities, so much hope for what was to come that I think the time jump, the timeline that became immediately clear at the beginning of this second book, was initially disappointing. While I applaud Contreras for not giving readers what they'd expect, I did also feel like an opportunity had been missed for some serious character growth, for some hard decisions to be made by Rowan, an opportunity for him to fight for what was more important given his predicament at the time. Setting this sequel up the way it was made things easier in some ways... Maybe too easy for my personal taste. But that's the angst lover in me craving the addictive taste of heartache. At the end of the day though, I had to let go of all the things I wished had been different and accept what was.  And I suppose that's what Rowan and Tessa had to do too.

This is a story about love prevailing when the time is right. It's about acceptance. It's about letting go of all the things you wish were different and learning to move on with what you're given. It's sad, the lost time, the years that were stolen. It was frustrating for me that there wasn't more anger on these pages, a bigger fight over all the things that should've been different. But that's what forgiveness is. It's about letting go of the hope that things could've been any different and accepting the gift of a second chance.

Once I forgave Claire Contreras for what she did here and accepted that this wasn't the story I initially wanted but rather it was the story they NEEDED, I could see this for the sweet second chance that it is. I understood that maybe it's such a sweet story because after all that these characters have been through, after the years of longing and heartache that separated them, they deserved some relief from all that. Did I think things were a little TOO EASY in this sequel? Yes. A bit. (It's not you, it's me.) I missed the push and pull. I longed for the tumultuous emotions that I felt so starkly in book one. But I also loved where these characters ended up. I felt their sweet victory of getting everything they yearned for after so much had separated them. I got it! And with that said, I can't recommend this beautiful duet enough. This will break your heart and mend it. It'll infuriate you, it'll tear at your heartstrings and soothe them back together with humor and blissful romance. And it'll teach you the hard lesson that what you want isn't necessarily what you need. It's beautiful and heartfelt and emotional and I really, really enjoyed it.

***4,5 "I bleed for you!!!" stars***

****************************************
“I don’t just love you, Sprite. I bleed for you. Only for you.”
****************************************

After the storm, finally came the calmness and i couldn't be more happy than i am!!!!
In the end of the first book in this wonderful duet, i was so mad with what happened, but when i finished this book, it just felt... right!!!!
All the pain, all the heartbreaking was worthying after all!!!
Because real love can conquer everything no matter the obstacles that they will put in your way!!!

"You’ve always had me, Sprite,” he whispered. “Even from across the pond, despite all the lies and deception you’ll always have me."

I won't tell you much about this book, but both Tessa and Rowan were miserables with the turns of their lives without each other in them...
Both of them were successfull in their business, but something were missing...
Rowan wanted to get over with the sturpid contract and chase after the woman that he loved, even though he was the one who chased her away...
Tessa was living a full life without a man in it, but she was happy...

“I’m yours. I have always been yours. I will forever be yours.”

After four years, Tessa is coming back to New York from Paris and her path is colliding with Rowan's for once again...
There is another chance for those two???
Will Rowan get free from a parade of marriage???
Will Tessa reveal her biggest secret to him???
And how Rowan will react when he will learn the truth that she was keeping from him???

“I can’t take back the last four years of my life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t change the way things will be going forward,” he said. “I’m saying that I want to be in your life...”
“Rowan,” I felt the tears building in my eyes before I could stop them.
“I love you, Tessa Monte. I bleed for you.”

Well, Rowan and Tessa were meant to be from the beginning...
Unfortunately, they had too much shits that were standing in their way...
And thankfully, life didn't give them only a second chance, but a third one too!!!

“I had never deserved this woman. Not when we were kids, not when we were teenagers, not four years ago, and certainly not now. I’d never done anything to deserve her attention or her love, yet, she gave it to me continuously without asking for anything in return.”

Tessa was a very strong and willing woman... She did such a wonderful job with Miles...
Her only soft spot was Rowan...
He was the only person that she couldn't escape from...
And God, i loved Rowan in here even more than before...
His relationship with Miles was.... superb!!! He changed so much and the sweetness and romance was suiting him very much!!!

“He bleeds, you know. Our little boy bleeds.”
“I know he does,” he said brokenly. “And out of all the things I’m proud of, that one’s at the top of the list.” He cupped my face, leaned down, and kissed me softly.
“I love you, Sprite. Don’t forget that.”

Honestly, i don't know why i haven't read any of Ms. Contreras's books, even though that i was flirting with many of them, but the only sure thing is that i won't stay only in this lovely story!!!!

Really wanted to enjoy this series but did not! Felt so similar to Jessica Hawkins 'Something in the Way' series. And just like those books the characters and story rubbed me wrong. Rowan was a weak,
Selfish dude who couldn't stay loyal, fight for or grovel to the supposed 'Love of his life'. Tessa was another heroine who was perceived as strong and said all the right things but never actually stood steady. She forgave Rowan everything, begged him to choose her, he married someone she despised, actually had sex with Camryn and another woman despite intending to win Tessa back, and then he literally snaps his fingers and Tessa is jumping on his dick again when he is not even yet divorced! Yawn, so bored of women in books letting the lead men literally annihilate them and then taking them back at the drop of a hat. The characters were not particularly likeable. I also found it unfair that we had a segment of understanding and reunion between Rowan and his dad. I understand the dad's marriage was forced, but for her faults his wife loved him and he treated her like crap and cheated repeatedly. He was even involved in inflicting the same pain on his son, but because he has started a perfect second family and he has apparently mellowed, all is forgiven and we are supposed to like the old fella! Yeah no, he never really made it up to Rowan, Rowan had to seek him out, and then it was just half baked explanations, aplologies and a hug! Yay for abusive parents everywhere. I did not like Rowan's mother at all, but felt it was unfair her husband did not apologise to her or treat her better. We never really saw a reunion scene with Rowan and her,'or got her side! Very biased to the cheater male yet again, oh well, seems to be a pattern in these books! There was some good scenes and it was well written, but not a winner in my view! That being said I have issues with the author in her previous books for letting the lead who had committed betrayal, being forgiven too easily,
So probably won't read anymore of her books. But many did enjoy this, so it could just be me.

ARC received for an honest review

You need to have read Then There Was You before diving into My Way Back To You as it does start right where the first book ends.

I did have my issues with the first book, Rowan just ugh, he needed a kick in the boy parts to stop him from being such an idiot - and it may be months down the track now, but he did emotionally get that kick.

Good on Tessa for not giving in to him right away! Did I agree with everything she did? Not always, but I always got why she does why she does.

Oy! Rowan and his family! I hate that he is even with that witch Camryn, and except for his brother Sam I disliked all his family! They have all have some mighty big grovelling to do!

I do have to say though, I did like Rowan a lot more in this book than the first one. He was pretty d!ckish in Then There Was You, and it did make him a bit unlikable, especially the way he lead Tessa on. I needed to know if he could win me back over, let alone win Tessa back.

I am not going to spoil anything by saying if he does or doesn't, you need to read to find that out.

Sweet, tender, heartbreaking but full of hope, My Way Back To You was a great conclusion to the Second Chance Duet.

4.5 'I BLEED FOR YOU' STARS!

Sexy, beautifully written, and emotional, Claire Contreras has once again swept me off my feet with her addictive story telling!

Finally, we get the most anticipated conclusion to a story... ever!! My Way Back to You was a journey of forgiveness, growth, love, and acceptance. Lots has happened after the ending of Then There Was You. If you've read book 1, you know what I'm talking about (what a cliffhanger, right!?). Thankfully the wait for this book wasn't so agonizing. Now, I don't want to say much about the story because I feel it's crucial you read book 1, but I will say this. Claire sure knows how to hit you right in the feels!

My Way Back to You was the perfect ending to Rowan and Tessa's tale. You felt the emotion, the turmoil, and you lived it right alongside them; these two characters who were flawed and imperfect, but somehow perfect for one another.

If you're looking for that painful, angsty, yet sweet read, Claire Contreras' Second Chances Duet is just for you!
