Annie Seaton’s second instalment, Her Outback Surprise in the charming Australian rural romance series, Prickle Creek, is a charming second chance love story. It takes the reader from the heart of London, through to the outback, with two attractive lead characters, vet Angie Edmonds and journalist come farm manager, Liam Smythe.

The hooking prologue of Her Outback Surprise begins with the sad demise of a two year relationship between an Australian couple that met in London. When Angie’s work visa in the UK runs out, it leaves her with no option but to return to Australia, leaving behind her boyfriend, Liam. Career driven journalist Liam is an Aussie expat and decides to stay put in London. Liam wishes to continue building his career as a budding journalist, rather than follow girlfriend Angie back to Australia. It is a decision that comes back to haunt the couple a year later, in the most unexpected way. Back in Australia, Angie has recently purchased a local veterinary practice of her own, in a small country town. Meanwhile, Liam has had to return back home to Australia at his beloved gran’s request. Liam’s grandparents manage the family farm, Spring Downs and Liam’s grandfather’s ailing health cannot keep up with the demands of running a property full time. Liam decides to take his time at Spring Downs as a working holiday, vowing to return to his career in journalism once the family farm is back on track. A chance but very coincidental encounter at the local vets, when Liam rescues an abandoned puppy, results in a reunion between the former lovers. There is no denying there is still a spark between this former couple but a series of misunderstandings threatens to derail Angie and Liam’s chances of a renewed relationship.

Although I am yet to read the first book in the Prickle Creek series, which revolves around four cousins who are recalled to their grandparent’s outback property, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Her Outback Surprise. I am a big fan of Annie Seaton’s work after reading The Porter Sisters series recently. I was more than keen to be introduced to a new outback series from an author I have come to appreciate. Her Outback Surprise was a delight from start to finish, offering the reader a great combination of a vivid outback setting, a well written storyline, a complicated pathway to a happy ever after romance and two completely agreeable lead characters.

The prologue, set in London, where we witness the upsetting disintegration of a two year relationship between two Aussie expats, quickly worked to draw me into Her Outback Surprise. The action soon moves forward a year later and to a very different location, the outback of Australia. We learn Liam, the male lead of Her Outback Surprise, has had to put his career as a journalist in London on hold to attend to some pressing family matters. It was a great opener, setting the scene perfectly.

What I immediately appreciated about the narrative of Her Outback Surprise was Seaton’s commitment to airing the viewpoints of both leads, Angie and Liam. It gives the reader a well rounded sense of the inner thoughts and feelings of each protagonist. I also liked how Seaton chose to include flashbacks within the current day storyline, offering an explanation to happened to this couple in the UK. This aspect of the narrative provides the reader with a solid background as to how the past has shaped the current state of this couple’s relationship.

Seaton’s leads, Angie and Liam, are both likeable and have some interesting personality traits. They are also guarded about delving into a relationship again, for different reasons. I liked the individual journey Seaton sets both Liam and Angie on. Through the progression of the novel, Liam makes the transition from a high flying career man in London, to an everyday hardworking farmer. Angie’s journey on the other hand is just as interesting. Firstly, Angie takes the plunge and purchases her own vet practice. Then Angie must make the adjustment from city to country living. Finally, for a young woman who sadly hasn’t has a place to call home, or a sense of family to embrace her, Angie finds what she needs both professionally and personally in her move to the outback. The character growth these two leads go through makes for an endearing and interesting read. Angie and Liam are also supported along the way by a handful of memorable and integral secondary characters, These include Liam’s cousin Lucy, who extends the hand of friendship to Angie, through to Liam’s adopted puppy Willow, who helps bring this couple together again.

The romance element in Her Outback Surprise obviously takes centre stage. Readers will find this romance leans more on the sweet side, rather than a hot and heavy style relationship. Angie and Liam’s pathway to love again is filled with a past history, misunderstandings, lack of communication and individual fears of rejection. A few times I did feel myself wishing these two to just talk face to face in an honest manner to resolve their issues and find future happiness! However, the pathway we tread with these two leads is well worth the journey and the promise of a possible second chance happy ever after is what encouraged me to stay with this novel until the end.

For international readers of our great Aussie rural fiction novels, such as Her Outback Surprise, will be pleased to find an added extra to this novel. Located at the back of this novel is a glossary of terms, which explains some of the words and expressions that are distinctly Australian and therefore will be unfamiliar to non Australian readers. What a great idea!

Her Outback Surprise is the perfect rural escape novel, for fans of both rural fiction and romance novels. I enjoyed my time at Prickle Creek, so I will be making the effort to catch up on the first book in this fine series, Her Outback Cowboy, which follows Liam cousin’s Lucy’s story. I will also be on the lookout for future additions to Annie Seaton’s appealing series.

Every once in a while, you just need that perfectly sweet romance with amazing characters and heartfelt emotions. Her Outback Surpries gave that and so much more.

Angie and Liam were in love when Angie’s work visa ran out sending her back to Australia and Liam didn’t offer to follow. Liam was fighting for his career and decided to remain behind.

Liam is called back to the family ranch to help his grandparents and cousins. When he runs across a wounded puppy he takes it to the local vet for care only to discover that his lost love, Angie, has purchased his hometown veterinary practice.

Liam thinks Angie is happy and has a boyfriend while Angie thinks Liam didn’t ever feel enough to keep her when she had to return home.

If I had to pick one word to describe this book it would be sweet. It’s the kind of book that left a smile on my face that special feeling that sometimes the HEA is just a page turn away.

I received this ARC copy of Her Outback Surprise from Entangled Publishing, LLC - Bliss. This is my honest and voluntary review. Her Outback Surprise is set for publication October 9, 2017.

This is a delightful second chance romance featuring a couple who lived together in London for almost two years before her lack of a work visa necessitated her returning to Australia whilst he remained in London and let her go. Neither fought for their relationship and neither thought to tell the other that they loved them. Liam has returned to run the farm of his grandparents and is enjoying the change of pace. When he takes an injured dog in to the vet, he never expected the vet to be his ex, Angie Edmonds. They still find each other irresistible but with so many misunderstandings between them can they ever be honest with each other and give their love a chance?

This is a lovely story, even though the couple could have done with talking to each other years ago to save them both so much heartache! That actually makes this second chance for them so much more emotional and the story an enjoyable read as they both fight their fears of rejection and finally give their love a chance. There are lots of twists and turns on the way and even a car chase before things can be resolved. It is an emotional, sweet story and a great addition to the series. I’m looking forward to reading future stories in this series.

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

I really enjoyed Her Outback Surprise and the community of Spring Downs. This is book2 in the Prickle Creek series about four cousins whose Grandparents own prickle Creek farm in outback New South Wales. They are called back to help on the farm whilst their Grandparents have a well earned holiday.

Liam and Angie’s story is a second chance romance trope. They had previously had a relationship in London breaking up when Angie had to return to Australia. Neither knew the other was in Spring Downs and when they found out they tried hard to avoid each other but fate and Cousin Lucy had other plans.

I absolutely loved Lucy, she was obviously settled in her life and she wanted the same for Liam. They were more like brother and sister than cousins and you could feel their closeness in their teasing and banter. Lucy immediately connected with Angie and I could plainly see that Lucy would remain her friend no matter the outcome with Liam.

‘I need to do something worthwhile. Go back to investigating and reporting social issues.’

Liam was a high flying reporter in London and full of his own self-importance, thinking work on the farm as a holiday break, not a career.

‘Man, I’ve been an insensitive jerk!’ – Liam

It took him a while to realise this and I think Angie was too easy on him.

This was a fun rural romance with plenty of anguish and misunderstandings as we follow Liam and Angie through some fun times together and also plenty of heartache. I think it took too long for Lucy to say ‘I’ve had enough’ and take off.

The book ends with an epilogue that reads like a teaser for the next book that will be about Jemima, Liam’s sister. She doesn’t feature in Liam & Angie’s story only returning to Prickle Creek Farm as the story closes.

Book 1 Her Outback Cowboy is Lucy’s story and I am going to be self indulgent and grab a copy and read it straight away.

What a sweet second chance romance!

Liam and Angie were together for several years and broke up when she left London and headed back to Australia. She wanted Liam to come with her, but he stayed working. Their breakup broke both their hearts.

There was LOTS of intentional miscommunication and just plain them not saying what they were thinking and feeling. Also, it felt like they rehashed everything in their heads a lot. If some of that had been cut out I'd have been a little happier ;) But overall, a sweet, easy read with a great cast of characters.

Raise your hand high and proud if you love a good second chance romance! Okay, well if your hand is raised, you're simply going to adore Annie Seaton's Her Outback Surprise, a second chance romance featuring an drool-worthy Australian outback setting, an adorable puppy, and two main characters you can't help but like!

Her Outback Surprise features the alternating POVs of Angie Edmonds and Liam Smythe. Angie and Liam used to be in love, but then an expiring work visa had Angie sent back to Australia and Liam refusing to leave his high powered job in London behind. Since then Angie's vowed to never set sights on the man who didn't love her enough to fight for her and Liam's regretted not asking Angie to stay. Complicated, right? What makes it even more complicated, however, is when the two do run into each other all these years later, and Angie mistakenly makes Liam think she's happily engaged when they couldn't be even further from the truth. Now that's a whole new layer of complicated!

From the first page, I was addicted to Angie and Liam's second chance at love. It was not only disastrous and awkward but also outright charming. Angie and Liam had more miscommunication and mixed signals than most people have in a lifetime, and while at times I was left screaming "just tell the truth!!" it provided enough drama as well as suspense to have me hooked all the way through. I especially loved the chemistry Angie and Liam had. No matter how much the two of them tried to fight it there was just something about about them that worked and made complete sense.

I also came to like Angie and Liam as the novel progressed. Both were so incredibly bull-headed, which was partly to blame for all of their issues, but they are also caring, compassionate, and loving. One of the best transformations that occurred regarding Angie's character was her finally finding a family. I just loved seeing this girl who hasn't had a "home" in years finally begin to find one in Liam's mismatched yet lovable family. Liam, on the other hand, evolved form the typical businessman to just the regular old countryman, and I also enjoyed seeing that transition occur, especially when it involved him falling in love with a little puppy.

The only aspect I didn't enjoy like about Her Outback Surprise was the lack of a true connection to the characters. Don't get me wrong, I liked both Angie and Liam and I rooted for them, but I never really got to know them on a deeply personal ground...I wanted to know more about how they first feel in love, Angie's job as a Vet, Angie's complicated family life, Liam's involvement with the town's environmental issues, etc. I feel that if all these issues were dug deeper into not only would the characters have been more well rounded but the overall storyline would be as well.

In all, while I craved for a stronger connection, Her Outback Surprise is still a sweet novel, and honestly sometimes all you need is a book that leaves you with a smile all the way through!

First thing that comes to mind is CUTE. This book made me cry and to be honest I don't know why I was crying in the first place.
This is a second chance story full of misunderstanding, lack of faith, mixed signal or not seeing what is right in front of you.

Angie and Liam spent almost two years together in London before she had to return to Australia. What I find it sad that in that two years neither of them had said (the dreaded) 3 little word – I LOVE YOU and they gathered the courage to do that when they almost lost each other again.
Too be honest I wanted to smack them both a bit – but then I remembered me at 25 (Angie’s age) and think; OK remember me at that age?!OK we’re good :)

After reading this story I feel the need to tell my husband that I love him more often :)

Liam and Angie used to live together when they were both working in England. However, when Angie had to go back to Australia Liam decided his career was more important and didn't join her. He still regrets that decision. He's back in Australia now, running his grandparents' farm. Liam loves living in the country, but he doesn't intend to stay forever. He wants to return to the city to work as a journalist again. When Angie's back in his life he's desperate to have another chance, but is it fair to ask for one when he intends to leave once more?

Angie is a small town vet. She enjoys living in the countryside and likes her new hometown very much. When Liam enters her practice she's stunned. She had no idea she ended up in the town he grew up in and finds it difficult that he's back to work on the family farm. Liam would love to spend time with Angie again, but he broke her heart once and she guards it carefully. Angie isn't convinced he's back to stay, so she feels she shouldn't get involved. Will Liam convince her to try, even though she's reluctant to let him be part of her life when he has the power to hurt her badly?

Her Outback Surprise is a wonderful story. Liam and Angie have a complicated history. They were both very much in love, but were never completely honest with each other about their feelings. They have the chance to spend some precious moments together again and this time Liam doesn't want to mess things up with Angie. He still has the same plans for his future though and the question if he'd be able to find out what's most important in life before it would be too late kept me on the edge of my seat.

Annie Seaton writes about a fantastic family in a vivid and descriptive way that immediately warmed my heart. I loved reading about Liam and his time on the family farm. He's a born farmer, but being a journalist is something he's always dreamed of. Angie is perfect for him and their beautiful connection made their story a joy to read. There are plenty of sparks and their bond is deep and emotional. I love stories about soul mates and really liked this one. Annie Seaton has written another amazing Prickle Creek story that I highly recommend.

It's an interesting contemporary romance novel. I enjoyed reading it. All the characters are good too. Although the ending was kind of anti-climatic but overall it's a good read. Anyone who enjoys a good second chance contemporary romance will surely like this book.

Liam and Angie met in London. They were together for sometimes but then Angie's visa expired and she had to move back to Australia. Liam never tried to stop her or offered to move back with her. He also didn't try very hard to keep in touch. Angie was in love with him and that hurt her big time. But now she has moved on. She is happy with her small town life and things are going good. Until she meets him once again....

Liam never expected to meet Angie in his home town. But now that they have met it seems like staying apart will take too much effort. But they must stay away from each other because there is no way any kind of relationship will work. Firstly, due to the fact that Angie has moved on. Secondly and most importantly this time Liam isn't here to stay....

So will they ever be able to clear the air and confess everything to each other. Or maybe they will just ignore their feelings and let things wither with time.

The story is enjoyable. I liked it a lot and would recommend to my friends who love contemporary romances, especially regarding second chances, small towns, and close families.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book, but at the same time parts of the storyline seemed to drag on. Angie and Liam keep circling around each other but it takes them so long to get down to the truth of how they both feel.

I liked Lucy as a secondary character and the town fair and the way it all worked was very typical of Aussie outback/rural places and character.

I just felt like it took a bit too long to get to the heart of things between Liam and Angie. They were both bullheaded and I don't know, it just took too long.

I did enjoy the story particularly the last 20% though, and I wouldn't say no to reading more of the series. I just didn't enjoy this as much as other books I have read, but I did enjoy it to a degree.

REVIEW: HER OUTBACK SURPRISE is the second installment in Annie Seaton’s contemporary, adult PRICKLE CREEK clean, romance series focusing on a once tight knit family of cousins (Lucy Bellamy, Jemima Smythe, Sebastian Richards, and Liam Smythe) torn apart by the accident that caused the death of their three mothers. This is journalist Liam Smythe, and veterinarian Angie Edmonds’ story line. HER OUTBACK SURPRISE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: When their aging grandparents called the cousins home, Lucy, Jemima, Sebastian and Liam wanted nothing to do with attending to the family farm but a deal was reached and each cousin would take a turn managing the farm, never intending to fall in love.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Angie and Liam) HER OUTBACK SURPRISE focuses on the second chance romance between journalist Liam Smythe, and veterinarian Angie Edmonds. Two years earlier Angie and Liam were a couple but Angie’s visa in London, England had expired and our heroine had no choice but to return to Australia, starting a new life without the man that she loved. Hoping Liam would follow, Angie left England, and her heart behind. Fast forward two years, and Angie will come face to face with the man that broke her heart-Liam Smythe-a man struggling with his future, and the pull of the Outback at home. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Liam and Angie, and the potential fall out as Liam reconsiders his future as a journalist, and his relationship with the woman he loves.

Liam and Angie met two years earlier in London England while Liam was on assignment and Angie as an exchange student studying abroad. When Angie’s visa expired, our heroine was hoping that Liam Smythe would drop everything to be with her, but months would pass, and Angie would have no contact with the man that she loved. An injured puppy would bring Angie and Liam together but miscommunication and a broken heart continued to force our couple apart.

The relationship between Angie and Liam is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people whose lives went in opposite directions. Angie knows Liam’s time in Prickle Creek is limited, and our heroine refuses to give what’s left of her heart to a man who is willing to walk away a second time. The $ex scenes are non-existent or vaguely implied; physical intimacy is limited to kissing and holding hands.

We are reintroduced to Lucy and Garth (Her Outback Cowboy #1 and their new arrival Jamie, as well as their grandparents Helena and Harry, and Liam’s puppy Willow.

Once again, be forewarned, because the author lives in Australia, HER OUTBACK SURPRISE contains expressions of slang and language terminology that may not be familiar to North American readers.

HER OUTBACK SURPRISE is a sweet story of second chances. There are moments of heartbreak and pain (I may have shed a tear or two), romance and love, family and friendship. The premise is heartwarming; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is fated.

Her Outback Surprise by Annie Seaton
A Prickle Creek Novel #2

Liam Smythe has been working his grandparents’ farm for ten months when he takes an abandoned puppy to the veterinarian’s office only to find out that Angie Edwards is the person in charge. The two cohabited in England for two years before she had to return to Australia when her visa expired. Liam let her go because he wanted to make a name for himself in journalism. His assumption is that she has moved on and is with another man and she does not disabuse him of the notion. So, for most of the book there is a wanting but not acting and if acting feeling guilty. Angie fears losing Liam to journalism again and Liam thinks he has blown his chance…until a few things come together and the two are given a second chance at a HEA.

This was an okay second chance at love genre romance in which I wondered at times what the two saw in one another…but…by the end of the book I was hoping they would figure out a way to be together and am now ready to find out who Jemima and Sebastian will end up when their stories are told.

Background – the first paragraph from my review for the first book in the series: Four phone calls are made to cousins requesting they return to Prickle Creek. Two men and two women who have found their way into the world and have successful jobs are called back to see their grandfather in hospital. The four are faced with a huge decision presented by their grandmother and my guess is that there will be four books in this series that will star Lucy Bellamy (first), Sebastian “Seb” Richardson, Jemima Smythe and her brother Liam. All have fond memories of time spent with their families on their grandparents’ ranch. All lost their mothers at the same time. All have ties to their ancestral land. But, are those ties strong enough to draw them from their jobs and lives and take on the responsibilities of country life on a large tract of land? That is the first question.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Her Outback Surprise is a sweet, second-chance romance set in--you guessed, it--the Australian Outback. It's second in its series, but if you haven't read the first book yet ( Her Outback Cowboy ) no worries; the bits you absolutely need to know about it are explained here too (why Liam and his cousins come back to the family farm, and what their plans for the future are, more or less) though the fact that this is the second book does make for a somewhat awkward start to this one with a bit of jumping around time-wise.

Overall I liked Angie and Liam, and it wasn't hard to root for them to (finally!) be together in the end. The flashback bits felt a bit superfluous, though (especially since their important bits were usually recapped through a character's thoughts and/or conversation a minute or two after) and this was definitely an example of a story whose main conflict could have been resolved with one decent conversation between the MCs, which was definitely frustrating. Liam especially was guilty of being exceptionally dense for about 90% of the book, and Angie tended toward the wishy-washy side of the spectrum more often than I would have liked--still, this was a pleasant way to spend a cozy fall afternoon reading.

Plus, there was a cute puppy and a newborn baby in the mix, so--win-win! :)

A terrific read! A wonderful, second chance-love affirming story. Liam Smythe and Angie Edmonds were lovers until Angie's work visa expired and she had to go home. Leaving Liam in London was heartbreaking for Angie. A year later, Liam is living and working on his grandparents farm. He brings an injured puppy to the local vet, and is surprised to see Angie again. Even a white lie will not stop Liam from winning her love. Ms. Seaton writes a richly rewarding story! I enjoyed and highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I am tired of books where the entire conflict is based on assumptions and could be solved by the two main characters having a ten minute conversation. I found most things about this book under developed but it was a fast read and I weirdly enjoy reading books set in Australia.

I must say this was another wonderful escape into romance by this author. Having read the first one I needed to get into this one. It has a irresistible element in it- puppies. We also get to know real well Angie and Liam whom will take us on their journey. This is also a second chance one of my favorite forms of contemporary to read. You are along with them as the relationship unfolds with things as they seem but we see what is real. Emotions will also have a large part in this with us getting our fill too. Romance off the charts without the nonsense that some thinks should be in it too. Us readers also become the cheer section yelling at them both from time to time. By the time you reach the ending of this one you are one satisfied with a superb wrap up.

Liam & Angie’s Story

Once again I found myself back at Prickle Creek Farm with this delightful cast of characters. I loved catching up with Lucy and Garth as Lucy played a pivotal role in bringing Liam and Angie into close proximity, hoping the sparks would reignite their passion. As always, Annie Seaton shares her love for all things outback and brings them to life for readers everywhere.

Argh! How did I manage to get book 2 before book 1? Guess I'll have to go back and get book 1.
Good characters and story line. I love reading romance and memoirs by authors in other countries and learn the differences between versions of English. I'm loving learning Ausi-isums and about Ausi country/ranch life in this series.

Recently I read and really enjoyed Annie Seaton’s Porter Sisters trilogy so I jumped at the chance to read this one when it was offered to me. I didn’t realise at the time but it’s actually the second of a quartet revolving around four cousins who are “called home” by their grandparents to help take care of the family farm. In the first book, which I haven’t read, the cousins come to an agreement that Liam will stay on and take care of the farm whilst their grandparents enjoy a well deserved holiday. This book begins in London where Angie is leaving to come back to Australia after her visa has run out. She and Liam have been in a relationship for about two years and she wants him to come with her but Liam is far too busy with his job to consider such a thing. Then we skip to recap Liam being called home and cover the decision to stay on, which is probably done more in depth in the first book but was definitely more than enough for me to catch up on what is happening. Fast forward to Liam having been on the farm for a while and he discovers a puppy on his farm. It doesn’t belong to him and appears to have an injured leg, so he takes the dog to a vet in town. Expecting the same vet he’s always known as having the practice, Liam is surprised when he realises that the vet is Angie. And Angie is equally stunned when she realises that her former partner has returned to Australia, something that he wouldn’t do with her.

I found this a really relaxing and enjoyable read. I liked the setting although I did find that Liam seemed to have a lot of free time on his hands for someone who seemed to be almost singlehandedly running a farm! But the small town community feel was definitely there and I found the vet practice to be a fun and interesting setting too. A large portion of the conflict in the book revolves around the fact that Liam believes that Angie is dating someone and in order to protect her heart, it’s a misconception that she doesn’t correct. However the two of them have a very difficult time staying away from each other. They seem to be attempting to do the just friends things but both of them are still very invested. Angie doesn’t want to get involved again because she feels this is a stop gap for Liam, a brief period before he chases his career again and heads for a big city. Angie doesn’t want to be left behind – breaking up with Liam the first time was very painful for her and very difficult and she doesn’t want to have to go through that all over again. And so for a while she allows Liam to continue thinking that she has some vague boyfriend living somewhere else. She knows that she does need to tell him the truth eventually but I sort of didn’t blame Angie for not bothering to correct Liam in a way. She wanted him to return to Australia with her but Liam was too caught up in his career however he did drop that when his grandparents recalled him to the family farm. But to Angie, some year later finds Liam back in Australia – he’d been back for quite a while and hadn’t let her know (presumably because he believed her with someone else).

Liam is a bit pushy for someone who believes that Angie is dating someone else, probably seriously. He’s always trying something – definitely the sort of guy who doesn’t let a chance go by! If Angie had of actually been dating someone I would’ve found it off-putting but she knows she isn’t. Liam does come across as quite torn, despite his taking chances. He frequently muses to himself about her boyfriend but he can’t seem to help himself when it comes to her. Their coming back together is sweet and low key, rather than sizzling hot romance. They do fit well together though and both of them have moved on and changed from what they were in London. For Angie, who doesn’t have a family, she’s come to realise that she could be an accepted part of a big and loving one as Liam’s cousin has definitely taken her under her wing and wants to include her in events and celebrations. And Liam makes a change from big shot city career guy to a slower pace and a reorder of his priorities and what he wants out of his life. When he realises that he could lose Angie all over again, he’s spurred into action.

I liked this – a very nice rural read to escape into for an afternoon. I’ll be looking to finish the series for sure.

Just over a year and a half ago, Liam Smythe, let the woman he loved return home to Australia. Now though, he's home from London and helping to run the family farm, but never did he imagine he'd run into Angie again. Still, he's not about to let his second chance with her slip away, even if he is planning to return to the city to chase his next big story as a reporter. Will Liam be able to win Angie back, so they can have a second chance at forever after; or is her fear of Liam leaving her again too high for her to give him another chance?

Having absolutely loved the first book of this series, I couldn't wait to read more about Liam and his cousins, because it seems none of them ever thought they'd head back to Prickle Creek. Yet, I've got to say that this book continues the series nicely with Liam determined to win back the woman he never should have let get away in the first place. Will Angie give Liam a second chance? However, it was from the moment where Angie and Liam come face-to-face for the first time in this story where things really got exciting, as both are surprised to see each other. Why is Liam back from London? Why has Angie moved to the small town where she works?

As for the dialogue, it was riveting and had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after, as it was palpable they were happy together in the past, and going their separate ways wasn't what Angie wanted but she had no other choice than to leave. Moreover, the heroine really surprised with her abiity to resist the hero, even though it's clear she still loves him. I also liked her enthusiasm for her job and that she would do anything to help an animal in need, which is proven by what she does for Liam's dog. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was that she gave Liam another chance once she cleared the air about something he believed that wasn't true.

While the hero, he's done well for himself when it comes to his career and it's understandable why he would want to get back to chasing his next big story, because he's good at what he does, which is proven by what he does to help the townspeople with a problem. I also liked how determined the hero was to win the heroine over once he realized he can't let her go a second time. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the close relationship he has with his family and that he would do anything for them, which is evident in the moment where his cousin convinces him to do something for her; something he has no idea of doing because he doesn't know the first thing about baking. Will he do his family proud when it comes to achieving something he never thought possible?

Overall, Ms. Seaton has penned another marvellous read for this story where the romance was on the sweet side; the chemistry was fantastic and had me determined to discover how things would turn out for this couple; and the ending had me enchanted by the hero's determination to show the heroine how much he wants her in his life. No way can he let Angie get away a second time. The first time was hard enough, even if he didn't realize it at the time. However, it was the epilogue that has me intrigued for the next book of this series. What is Jemima up to and what's she looking to do? I would recommend Her Outback Surprise by Annie Seaton, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Amy Andrews, Sean D. Young, LE Rico and Rebecca Brooks.

I received an advanced reader’s edition of this book from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Ah, back on Prickle Creek Farm! Her Outback Surprise is the second Prickle Creek novel, following Her Outback Cowboy (you can see my review of that here). These novels are set in the outback of Australia, where cattle ranches and small towns are all that's found.

Her Outback Surprise picks up a little bit after the first book ends, but Liam Smythe is the subject of this novel. (The series will eventually cover each of the four cousins' stories.) Liam used to a be a hotshot journalist in London, until his Gran called him and his cousins home to tend to the farm. Liam takes to farm life fairly well - although he won't admit it to himself.

Angie Edmonds is Liam's old flame from London. What a surprise it was to her that he showed up in her vet clinic with a wounded puppy! After he let her leave London and she never heard from him again. But she wasn't about to go down that road again...

I absolutely loved this book! I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read this second novel in this series, given that I enjoyed Her Outback Cowboy so much! One thing that I love about any series really, is the fact that this story ties into the first one so well. We get to see Lucy and Garth and their newborn son! I love continuing the story, but from a different perspective.

I also still am obsessed with the setting: Australia. I love the farming atmosphere (I grew up on a farm myself!), and this book was very interesting with the holiday season taking place during summer. I loved how the story wrapped up, and the ending was perfect! (You just need to read and find out!) Also, the epilogue teases Jemima's story - can't wait for that!

There were a couple of things I felt could be better, though. I felt that the internal dialogue of Liam and Angie was very repetitive. Once it was established how they felt about the situation, I didn't want to keep reading it over and over. Also, I wish their relationship had developed more. It felt very fast to me. I wish it had been more of a "slow burn," or maybe there could have been more background from London involved.

Overall, I loved Her Outback Surprise! I am very excited to continue the series! I would definitely recommend this series if you love to read books set in other countries.

This is such a lovely second chance romance story with a fabulous setting and awesome characters, the second in a series about four cousins who are asked to help their grandparents who bought them up with the family cattle and wheat farm in the Pilliga Scrub region of New South Wales and now we have Liam’s story which starts in London and ends up in the outback beautifully.

Liam gave up his journalist job in London to return home to the farm and has settled in well and is thoroughly enjoying this more than he thought he would although there is someone on his mind Angie his ex-girlfriend that he let go back in London. When Liam finds a puppy on the side of the road he takes her to the local vet in town and what a shock that is when he discovers that his ex is now the local vet and this has his heart and mind all aflutter.

Angie was devastated when she had to leave London and Liam to return home a year ago he seemed more interested in his job than her so she has been content since returning but never forgotten Liam, and has settled into her job as the vet in Spring Downs but oh my when none other than Liam arrives in her clinic that spark is still there but Angie is determined to not succumb to it but Liam has other ideas.

There were so many misunderstandings between Angie and Liam from London to the outback but with the help of Liam’s cousin Lucy they are pushed together and finally find their well- deserved HEA, this is a thoroughly enjoyable story one that had me smiling and turning the pages, I love the setting and this family are just beautiful and I am really looking forward to the next in the series bring on Jemima’s story thank you MS Seaton for hours of reading pleasure.

This book starts out with the heartbreak of Angie and Liam's relationship ending when she must head back to Australia and he stays in London. Well over a year later we catch up with this two who are now- unbeknownst to both of them- living in the same town. Angie is the local vet and Liam is rescuing a pup and needs help- well shocked is the least you could say about this encounter.

While Angie is still stewing in her hurt and anger that she wasn't enough for Liam to either love or make the bold step and choose her and going home to Australia over a big job and London, Liam is hurt and disappointed that Angie moved on so quickly and is living with a man. But you know what they say about assuming things... Every time Angie tries to let Liam know that she was at a friend's house and the boyfriend belongs to that friend she is interrupted. But really, she thinks it probably doesn't matter because she will never be enough for Liam and he is quickly headed back out of town in a few weeks.

Liam can't get over his attraction to Angie and realizes that he probably let the best thing ever go when he didn't follow Angie home or at least tell her loved her. How can he get her to trust him, his word and his love? It's a tall order to fill when he still thinks she has a boyfriend. Navigating around each other and finally finding their true north was very entertaining and heartwarming.

This was a good read. I missed out on the first book in this series and it says a lot about how good a book is when you want to go back and read the others in the series- Lucy and Garth's story. Looking forward to the other books in this series.

Everything in Angie Edmonds life is perfectly content, she has a job she loves, a home in a town she loves, and a peaceful life she loves... then Liam Smythe happens. As soon as he walks through her vet clinic door her heart skips a beat, he is just as gorgeous as he was when he was hers, but she isn't about to let him see that he still has that effect on her, he broke her heart and she is determined to not let it happen again. So she tells him a little white lie in hopes it will keep him at a distance and her heart intact...

Liam Smythe never expected to run into Angie again, and now that he has he can't seem to get her off of his mind, she is just as beautiful as she always was, and he can't help but get a little caught up in the memories of their past. She was the one he let slip away, and he'd give anything to have a second chance with her... problem is he just found out her heart belongs to someone else. Or does it?

Her Outback Surprise is a charming little read that is sure to leave readers heart overflowing and have them smiling... I know I am! This was my first visit to the series, and I have to say I really enjoyed my visit, the story line was filled with moments that made me smile, moments that made me tear up and moments that made me blush... it was such a great read! The story line was engaging, the characters were well drawn, and the setting was blissful, at times I literary felt like I was there! Highly recommend this sweet little read, it's sure to take you on a enjoyable literary escape!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

This is the first book of Annie’s that I have read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
It tells the story of Angie and Liam who were in a relationship in London until Angie’s visa expired and she had to return to Australia. She was devastated that Liam seemed to not be interested in following her back, so she picked herself up and got on with life. She purchased a small veterinary practice in the country and was quite happy until the day that Liam walked in the door. He had been summoned back to Australia by his Gran who had called her grandchildren, to get them to come back and help with the family farm, as his grandfather had been taken ill and couldn’t manage any more.
Little did he know that this was where Angie had set herself up in her own practice, and when Liam adopted a stray dog – Willow – who was injured and needed vet attention they were equally shocked to see each other.
What proceeds is a pair of star-crossed lovers who are still in love with one another but are both under a misconception about their relationship.
This was a really sweet romance and I kept turning pages until the end. There were a couple of other characters too Lucy and her husband Garth, who have a newborn and there is a bit of matchmaking going on there as well.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion by the Author. I have found this was actually book #2 in the Prickle Creek series, so will now have to read #1 which is Lucy & Garth’s story and will look forward to the subsequent books to find out more about Liam’s siblings.

This book was a fun read about two people who loved each other but had never admitted it. Liam let Angie walk away from them when her visa expired and she had to return to Australia. He felt his career was more important and stayed in London.

Fast forward a year and they are both in Australia but don't know that they are living so close to each other. There is a bunch of misunderstandings and neither one wants to tell the other their feelings. I was kind of annoyed with Angie that she let Liam keep thinking that she had a boyfriend and had moved on. But I also agreed with her when she tried to keep Liam from getting to close - he had already broke her heart and she didn't want to go through that again. I could also understand her hurt that Liam didn't feel like following her when she had to leave but when his Gran called, he moved.

So many cute parts to the story - Liam finding a little puppy that really didn't have a "job" on the farm, and Liam trying to bake the cake was just too funny! I liked that Liam seemed to have matured since the split with Angie, as he sounded kind of selfish when they lived together. He also realized that his career was no as important as Angie and It was great that he followed her when she ran and proposed!!

I loved that she found such a great friend in Lucy and that Lucy and Garth were a big part of the story. I had not read the first book but am now curious about Lucy and Garth's story! It was a great epilogue that sets the next cousin up for the following book.
