A disgruntled bear fiancé. A wanted familiar. A hairless cat named Lonnie.. For Hazel Kinsey, it's just another day in Paradise Falls.
When Hazel's familiar Tizzy the Squirrel fell in love with another familiar, they had no idea her furry pal would gain witch magic. Apparently, that’s a big no-no for the High Familiar Clowder, the council who rules all familiars. When the Clowder shows up in Paradise Falls to decommission Tizzy and send her to the in-between, Haze defies the stick-in-the-butt jerkfaces by refusing to trade in Tiz for a new familiar.
But the Clowder means business. They strip Hazel of her magic, leaving her no better than a human. Worst of all, she’s lost the mating scent she shared with her bear-beau, the hunky-handsome Ford Baylor. Without it or her witch powers, she can never be a real mate for him.
With only seventy-two hours to find a solution to her familiar and fiancé problems, Hazel and pals must find a way to stop the Clowder, get Hazel witchified again, save Tizzy and her true love, and oh yeah, battle sinister forces intent on glomming as much power as possible.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.
Author Note: For readers who have enjoyed reading my books and taken the time to share their love in reviews, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me to know my work is valued.
I adore this series and these characters. The story is fun, with loads of humor and sarcasm. There is a little something for everyone in this book such as humor, mystery, and a whole lot of love. A wonderful book!
I received a copy of this manuscript from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Hazel, Ford and Tizzy are back. This time Tizzy has landed the group into a world of trouble. She fell in love and bonded with Lupitia, the familiar of an imprisoned witch. Apparently this is a big no no for familiars. The ruling council of the familiars, the High Familiars' Clowder, has stripped Hazel of her power and want to take Tizzy and Lupitia to rehabilitate them. This is a fun, quick installment in the Witchin' Impossible series. It is filled with Renee George's trademark humor and snark. I love all the names Hazel and Tizzy come up with for each others' lovers. I highly recommend this series. I can't wait to read the next book!
The third book in a fast-paced and wonderfully fun paranormal cozy mystery that you can't put down once you begin. Hazel Kinsey, the chief of police and a witch in the town of Paradise Falls will make you laugh at her snarky personality and come-backs throughout. She is engaged to a bear-shifter, Ford Baylor. Tizzy is Hazel's squirrel familiar who just happened to fall in love with another familiar who's witch is in jail. But strange changes were happening to Tizzy, like getting witchlike powers. This got the attention of the Clowder, the familiar high council and they wanted Tizzy and his love Lupitia to turn themselves into the council to be reassigned or sent to a kind of limbo and a new familiar would be assigned to Hazel; a hairless obnoxious cat named Lonnie. Well that just won't do for Hazel and with her snarky attitude, she decides to defy the familiar council which gave her 72 hours to change her mind and they stripped her of her powers and made her human while she gets her act together and turns in Lupitia and Tizzy. This also strips her of her mating scent for Ford. Hazel's father and the Witches High Council members get involved to try and help Hazel and Tizzy. So much happens; so many storyline threads woven to keep you guessing, laughing and wondering if Hazel can keep Tizzy and get out of trouble or will she fail when all odds seem against her and those helping her. I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Oh the typos!!! So many. Words left out of sentences that leave you wondering what is being said. Missing quotation marks that leave you wondering where did the comment start - add or subtract a word and it changes the meaning. So many mistakes!
Biggest one I can't get over, last book it was Baba Yaga, Carol who was the head witch. This book it is Grand Inquisitor, who is our main character's grandmother. Complete change!! Last book, Hazel made a deal of two favors to research the murder. Both were used up. This book, there is one left hanging. This was way too much change!!!!
I gave two stars because the story was still a fun, cozy mystery but the typos and character changes were very disconcerting. Please get a better editor.
Life for Hazel Kinsey is far from normal; especially, for this witch. Things should be peachy as she is engaged to her bear shift fiancé but no. Her familiar squirrel finds love with another familiar and manages to gain magical powers.
But the High Familiar Council blames her and threatens to banish her as they take away her magic if she does not trade in familiar. With her magic gone she loses her bond with her bear shifter making her not a real mate.
What is a witch going to do for love or give up? Once again we are amused by her and her familiar squirrel. A fun enjoyable read.
Never a spoiler in any of my reviews! If you are looking for a good mystery, humor, fun and great characters all enveloped in a wonderful story, this is the book and/or series for you. Full of snarkiness and wittiness, this is one of those books that simply stated, provides the laugh out loud and great storyline entertainment you are looking for. Whether this is your first encounter or third with Tizzy and Hazel, you will be glad that you went on their newest escapade with them suspense, thrills, passion and just plain fun! Get this now, you won't be sorry! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading an advanced copy.
Hazel and Tizzy are quite a pair. Tizzy likes to get Hazel in trouble and this time it is really bad. She loses her magic and is afraid she will lose her shifter fiance too.
I enjoy all the humor in this series. It really does make you smile and laugh out loud at points. There is so much silliness and Hazel can't seem to stop herself from saying things that get her in trouble. As a cat lover, I was disappointed to see such a negative image of cats portrayed. Poor cats get a bad rep.
Familiar Protocol is fun, easy cozy reading. Its Halloween in Paradise Falls and everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Normal crazy pranks are out of control, a hellmouth has opened up in the middle of town, the magic is unpredictable, and then there's a murder. New sheriff Hazel Kinsey has enough on her plate without the familiar clowder showing up to take her magic and break her bound with her familiar squirrel Tizzy. Full of action and laughs, the novella is a quick, light-hearted, and highly entertaining read.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book! Tizzy is in love w/ another familiar. That is a big no no Now Hazel is trying to keep Tizzy save. In the process, she loses her power. Do not panic! You don't think that Hazel + Ford + the whole gang would take this laying down. The High Familiar Clowder won't know what his them. Loved the characters + the storytelling! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Fun re-reading this pre-wedding story for Hazel, Tizzy and the gang.
As a cat slave myself, I shouldn't be surprised by those in and demanding power, and a familiar council headed by them is fairly terrifying, and mostly unsurprising - have you met an alpha feline who didn't want to rule, or who didn't already act the tyrant?
Love gets tricky, and bear love is under the microscope, in a fun for me to read bunch of adventures - and I so wish my Gran would return and get rid of my middle age ouches!
Tizzy is up to know good and keeping secrets from her witch Hazel. When the HFC comes to town to take Tizzy and Lupitia away Hazel does everything to get to the bottom of it. Tizzy and Lupitia are witch familiars. Something else is happening in town. They go both go missing but why? Will Hazel find out who or what before it's too late.
Great story, lots of typos but plot is worth the read!
Loved the mystery in this one. It’s a VERY fast read—so don’t expect a long book here; I’m not even sure I’d think of it as more than a novella—and there are quite a few obvious typos (think ‘are’ instead of ‘our’ and using of the wrong your/you’re), but the plot made it worth it. Very cute!
Hazel is embroiled in a mess of Tizzy's making; the storyline plots an imaginative course through murder and mayhem and reunites well-loved friends. Tiz is a bit obnoxious this time around; I guess Grandmother Clementine's unusual helpfulness is meant to balance this! I look forward to catching up with Lily next in "The Pit List Murder."
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. It is book 3 in a new series by Renee George. I just am not a huge fan of this series. It is mainly Hazel that drives me crazy. She is just too annoying for me to enjoy what is actually a good story.
This book (as with most of Renee"a book) just had me in stitches. When you have a mixed bag of pussycat familiars in power, and the lead, Hazel who loves to torment all with her "nicknames"... What an adventure! Love it...as usual!!!❤❤❤
Oh my a Familiar Council of Cats and their witches. This mystery does solve a murder but not because it happened in paradise Falls. Don't want to give any spoilers but this is a hoot and great read.
Familiar Protocol by Renee George is the 3rd novella in the Witchin’ Impossible Cozy Mysteries series.
Tropes: ✔️ FM Romance ✔️ Witch vs. Shifter ✔️ Flying Squirrel Hunt 🐿️ ✔️ Missing Magic ✔️ Magical Town w/ Witch Chief
POV: First Person Duel 👩🐻 Rating: 6/10 (⭐️⭐️⭐️) 🫑/3
Loved getting more time with these characters, but this was definitely not my favorite. The issues with Tizzy, the uncertainty with Haz and Ford, and the loss of magic… I just couldn’t get behind this story. I also wanted to drop kick the entire Clowder!
✨”I don’t need a mate scent to tell me that you are the best part of my life.”✨
Hazel cannot catch a break. It seems like she is a magnet for trouble in Paradise Falls. This time beloved familiar Tizzy has fallen in love and bonded to another familiar. This is apparently against the rules of the Familiar Council. They want to capture both familiars and replace Hazel's with a hairless wonder named Lonnie. Hazel is a former FBI agent, she has good detective skills as well as her witchy ones. She is going to need more than her skills to figure out what is going on in Paradise Falls. The local shifters and witches rally to Hazel and Tizzy's predicament. Along with hunky bear fiancee, Ford and a visit by Lilly they are on a time limit to solve this latest mystery as Hazel has lost her magic! As usual, this is a fun series. Light, fun, and fast read. Witty dialog and good characters.
It is no secret how much I LOVE Renee George's writing. I've loved all of her books. Depending on my mood; would define which of the series is my favorite. But there is a very special place in my heart when it comes to Hazel & Tizzy and Lily & Smooshie. I just recently finished Pit Perfect (from the Barkside of the Moon Mysteries) and then yesterday I received Witchin' Impossible 3 - Familiar Protocol. More exciting escapades for Hazel and Tizzy. For those who don't know, Hazel is a witch who is mated to a hunky bear-shifter and her familiar is a flying squirrel - Tizzy (who one can't help but love). Hazel doesn't always get her witchy spells right and Tizzy has a habit of getting into mischief. So it's never a dull moment with them.
I started Familiar Protocol last night when I got home from work and didn't put it down till I finished it. Who needs sleep or food when you are back with some of your favorite characters? This story, as with the rest of their stories is fun, even if suspenseful and light-hearted even when Renee has you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next.
You are guaranteed an enjoyable read.
I received an ARC from the author, in exchange for my honest review.
I couldn't possibly miss this one which I almost did thanks to the flu bug. Wanted something that had a bit of humor, magic and romance so I opened this one knowing this author could do just that. Due to Hazel and her loyalty we will see just how that works in this one. Drama unfolds big time with it also affecting her love life and help needed ASAP> Ford and everyone to the rescue we hope. You will be pulled to the edge as this plays out with the magic in the writing putting us right in the middle. What a wonderful way to medicate a sicky day for me making it all the way to the end.
