Wonderful!
Such a wonderful collection of short stories. I really enjoy reading books and stories from Scare Street. Their novels and anthologies are both scary and suspenseful.
This collection of short stories are from many authors who contribute a lot to the Scare Street publications. Most of the stories are from authors whose work l am used to reading here.
Ron Ripley, Sara Clancy, A.I. Nasser and David Longhorn are usually selected for contributions. And their stories are very well written and have a clever ending. Some of the authors l am not too familiar with, but I enjoy their stories all the same.
Well, if you haven’t heard about Scare Street, it’s time to give them a try. Most of the books are only .99 cents. I’ve even picked some up for free.

This is a surprisingly good anthology of 10 scary stories from a group of authors who appear to work together a lot; Ron Ripley, Eric Whittle, David Longhorn, A.I. Nasser, and Sara Clancy. Two of the stories were in the dreaded present tense, but it seemed to work with the first one and they were both consistent, which is so often not the case when people try writing in present tense and slip into past tense.
The first story, Going For A Walk by Ron Ripley, is an easy 5 star story. All of them had interesting twists, except perhaps one that was a bit meh and derivative, but the quality of writing was good to excellent in all of them. It's unusual for an anthology to get 5 stars out of me, but this one is worth at least 4 1/2.

Entertaining, spooky, captivating, gives you the chills. A great collection of horror gems.

Loved reading each one of the short horror stories at night curled up in bed before going to sleep. Each one had a different concept and was as interesting as the last. Worth a read!

Much better collection than most. Most of the stories have plots and unlike the majority of other books, the stories have endings. You think I'm kidding, but I' not.
Many horror writers write great stories with all the elements of good writing, but the story ends without resolution. I'll never understand why so many authors don't think the ending is important.

Ridiculous. I feel only 3 out of the 10 pieces could classify themselves as 'short stories.' The rest didn't even have an ending - not even a horror short story ending. Most of those were like excerpts from a chapter of a short story. Some didn't even make sense enough to infer a meaning.
The 3 stories I liked (& the reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1) were 'Urbex,' 'Museum Quality,' and 'Tell Me Your Name.' They had a good Tales from the Darkside feel to them. Another good piece that had a lot of potential was 'Kimberly.' The story 'Scarecrow' that everyone is raving about is a story of horrible child abuse with a tiny bit of creepy at the end. The rest have a lot of nerve calling themselves a short story.

Pretty tame but fun.
These were actually good, short and to the point stories. They didn't scare me but they were a lot of fun to read. My only complaint is that the editor missed some things that obviously should have been corrected. It probably wouldn't bother anyone else but as a teacher it irritates me to no end which is why I gave it only 3 stars.

This ebook was also published in paperback.
I enjoyed reading the stories - I think the story featuring the scarecrow was perhaps my favorite. Enjoyable enough for a single reading, but doubt I'll re-visit this book. Would be interested in reading some of the other works by the authors within.

A better than average collection!
This set of short stories from various writers had some true gems in it, and I'm looking forward to reading more by these contributors! Definitely worth the time.

Nice collection of horror shorts
Some of the stories in the collection were more of the mental horror variety than truly horrifically scary, but I believe the mix was a great fit and would definitely recommend the collection.

For the most, it's an enjoyable horror short story compilation.
A.I. Nasser and Sarah Clancy bring the most interesting and surprising stories that seem a perfect fit for shows like "Tales From The Crypt", "Twilight Zone" or "Tales from the Darkside" - I wish there were more of these authors as they truly standout. Original, dark and with haunting endings.
However, the majority of stories here were written by Ron Ripley and these were the weaker ones of the whole collection, bringing the overall quality down. There's a distinct difference between Ron's stories and the remaining authors, they just don't flow, don't read "natural" and are just plain boring written by the numbers uninspired tales.

Going For A Walk by Ron Ripley. This one started us off with a bang, I literally had no idea what was going to happen in this one and it ended up being something completely different to what I expected, which I loved. The ending was brilliant. This was just an all around good story.
The Doctors Questions by Eric Whittle. Another one that I absolutely loved, it was so fast paced that whilst I feel like we didn't stop but in a good way. The only criticism I have is that the ending was very ambiguous which frustrated me.
Urbex by David Longhorn. Urbex was somewhat of a disappointment for me, I figured out what the story within the first few sentences. That being said, it was very well written and cleverly done.
Museum Quality by Ron Ripley. This one actually made me feel physically sick. I was going to skip it to begin with but I'm so glad I stuck with it, it cleverly built up a story that got just under my skin and not in a good way...
Tell Me Your Name by A I Nasser. I really enjoyed this one even though it didn't have the same scare factor as the others it was incredibly well written and still managed to make me feel unnerved.
His Neighbours Garden by Ron Ripley. Omg I adored this one! Even though I figured out a little bit of what was going on nothing could prepare me for the ending, it shocked me to my core. I think this one was my favourite story from the collection.
The Sin Eater by David Longhorn. This one was a close second to be my favourite. The story itself was original, well written and I loved how it let us make our own assumptions at the end...
Kimberley by Sara Clancy. I had goosebumps from start to finish whilst I read this story. Every line I read I got more and more on edge and creeped out. The atmosphere that was built up was brilliant, I cannot fault this story.
Scarecrow by A I Nasser. Again, I enjoyed this one it had a sort of mature rated goosebumps feel to it which I really liked. It kept my attention throughout and I definitely didn't want it to end!
Graveyard Shift. I'm quite disappointed with this one, I figured out the story from the beginning and it felt really rushed compared to the other stories which is super annoying because it didn't have the same feel and atmosphere as the rest of them.
On the whole, I really loved these stories! They all brought something different but managed to maintain the same quality pretty much right the way through with an exception or two.

December 30, 2019So I reached the story HIS NEIGHTBOR'S GARDEN, and just couldn't be bothered to read any more of this collection.
Parr of that was the fact that the same three authors would be repeated again and again - and seeing as their writing was similar, their structure, and their characters, I'm not even convinced they're 3 different authors, and not the same one using different names - and I didn't enjoy any of their styles or stories so far.
I'm just thankful that I got this book for free and didn't spend money on it.

Part of that was that the author used their own creature but called it banshee, so I didn't know what to be afraid of - more like satyr vampires - and I have to admit I don't like this kind of reuse of classic creatures.

I'm really impressed with some of these stories. Often times with short stories, I feel like something is missing, but here most of the stories felt complete. I think my favourite was Scarecrow, where a young boy and his sister are abused by their drunken father. The father acquires a scarecrow to watch over the corn fields but the scarecrow keeps moving. Who is moving it and why? This one was equal parts heartbreaking as it was incredibly scary!! I've always been afraid of scarecrows, they are just so so creepy, so this one really frightened me.
As in any collection, there are some stories better than others, but all of them are entertaining and worth the read! I've found some new authors to check out!! I'd highly recommend you check out this book, and as I write this review, the kindle edition is free, so grab it and be in for an awesome ride!!

Outstanding.
I was attracted to this compilation because of the contributions from Ron Ripley. Not only was I happy with his input, but the other authors are also of a similar calibre - making this compilation a really great read.
The word horror is used frequently, to describe elements that we may find disturbing. Sometimes, to great effect, others, to a grave disappointment.
A couple of stories in here tend towards slightly generic (although still good), but the majority will make you feel really disturbed.
A particular favourite of mine was The Scarecrow - That story was just nasty.
If you love horror, get this compilation - it's free, so why not!

I really like anthologies, largely because they're a great means of getting to know a whole bunch of authors in one go, and maybe even find some new favourites. And man, did I find a few new favourites in this collection.
The stories are dark and brooding, all exploring very different subject matter, the writing is solid and the creeps are real. I especially liked the stories by Ron Ripley (who I've only recently discovered but really enjoy) and Sara Clancy, whose story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
Going to be looking for all of these authors in future - this is a great collection.

Very scary, attention grabbing stories
I like the endings. They make you imagine what is happening to the character in their experience. I like the graphic detail descriptions of scenes, characters, and action. I see in my mind's eye. I like that the stories replay in my mind after reading them. Example: The Sin-eater.
There's not much to dislike. The stories are short and easy to follow. I would recommend it to my daughter. , my sister and niece.

Surprisingly good. I got this for free, and the quality bar for free books is usually pretty low. Some free books are practically unreadable. But these were mostly good stories. All were fast paced and interesting. Some had lousy endings or non-endings, but that’s to be expected in any collection. Not bad!

Awesome Short Story Collection
This was a great collection of short stories. I enjoyed all of them. All of them were very well written and everything horror stories should be. It was like sitting around a campfire with your friends, telling each other scary stories. Awesome job to all the authors who made this book possible. Keep up the good work.

Enjoyed it.
I gotta say that I didn't know what do expect from this collection. I have never read a Scare Street book or heard of any of the author's! Was it scary? No. Was it incredibly entertaining and had some well written stories. Hell yes. I really really enjoyed it. Some stories were better than others but the A.I Nasser stories really impressed me. I highly recommend it!

This is a collection of 10 short stories from multiple authors, so if you want to get a taste for new authors, collections are a good way to do it. If you like Scare Street stories, I believe you'll enjoy this; I found this book through a recommendation from reading a Scare Street book on Amazon.
Ron Ripley is a fantastic story weaver, and I'll definitely be looking up more.

A few good mane
I was not fully satisfied with the stories. Several stories stretched to find culmination in a questionable ending while others missed the opportunity to fully cultivate characters that found understanding in their perils.

A quick read with 10 short stories by a few different authors. Ron Ripley whom I'm a fan has a few. A. I. Nasser is another, his books are a little more darker. Quick easy read while waiting at the doctor's office, which is when I read it.

Quick read. There are some pretty good scary stories in here. On more than one occasion, I found myself wishing they would have made the story full length or a novella. That makes for a pretty good little read.
