Billionaire Shifters Club #2

The Billionaire Shifter's Virgin Mate

Rate this book
McDermott "Derry" Stanton is an old-money playboy who sleeps his way through half the world, one willing woman at a time.

A bear shifter, he never hibernates alone. Sometimes even one woman isn't enough.

But when this irresistible billionaire meets Jessica Murphy, everything changes. The man who views life as a female feast suddenly acquires more discerning tastes. The only woman who can satisfy him now...

Is Jessica Murphy. He must have her. Immediately. Frequently.

Jess, however, doesn't want any man, least of all a spoiled playboy who's about to become her brother-in-law. A pre-med student with deep ambitions and a past filled with painful rejection, she's all business.

Too bad Derry Stanton is her business. A frequent customer at the Platinum Club where she waits tables, and now the best man to her maid of honor in her sister's wedding, the guy is everywhere.

And pretty soon, she finds herself everywhere, too.

In his arms, on his bed, between the sheets....

But sex is the last thing she needs.

Or it was until she meets Derry and starts hearing the Beat. And feeling a connection she'd never imagined, never dreamed, never hoped for.

It's all too unbearably good.

I was seriously surprised at the way this played out, so I had to put it aside at the 20% because there was several things that put me off in the worst way, so I can't and I won't.

1. Manho hero description
2. Other women (yes, plural) description
3. Yes, contact with those other women. description
4. Oh yes, more than just kissing. description
5. Did I mention it's in front of the heroine? description
6. AFTER they have their first kiss? description

All of this in the first few chapters. Um, No. Just. No.

Derry and Jessica.
Well that was disappointing. I came so close to DNFing this one that I really wonder why I didn't, cause I can't say I enjoyed it... at all. Mostly because it just wasn't romantic imho.
Overall it wasn't predictable, it was a odyssey from the H being a total ASSHAT little whiny boy, to a guy whose been perpetually underestimated by his own family... well that's not surprising since his family is a group of manho jerks.

Anyways,
Derry is the biggest manho of the family (which is saying something) and somehow the author does manage to steer us away from that fact by the halfway mark. But for the first part of the book it is rubbed in your face (and thereby the h's) incessantly. The ultimate entitled rich boy.
Then he believes what a liar (who he knows is a liar) when she spouts crap about the h?? He constantly makes her feel belittled without even trying because he is so self absorbed.
Really this guy just never endears me to his 'plight'; The poor misunderstood rich boy who perpetuates the caricature his family perceives him to be.

FINALLY they get together ( I still don't understand why except that it's some kinda fated mating crap thing) and now it's their damn families throwing wrenches into the works!

Overall I HATED EVERY LAST CHARACTER in this book (except for maybe the h who was just kinda OK).
I don't like the type of H the author writes. There seems to be a common theme of the weak minded guy who thinks women are either family or a sexual object. Then when the h sees this character flaw in them, they get all boo-hoo why doesn't she love my awesome self. Then they get all maudlin and "I must suck because she thinks I suck'.
Overall I felt like he would always be 'sloppy seconds' and there was nothing special he had to offer her cause there was no place in his apartment (or most of the city) that he hadn't already F'd some other skank on.

On the bright side, I did like Jess. I also felt that by the end, what's his face, did only see her her and wasn't tempted to stray anymore. (not that he doesn't try in the beginning... 'roll my eyes')

It was just tiring....

This one was certainly worth the wait. I love me so hot sexy alpha shifter. This one just happens to be a former shiftermale-whore. Derry was a perfect specimen of male power, strength, protections, possession, and a lot more that I am at a lose for words for.

He would have to hear the beat for the one woman that he should stay away from. Jessica was the one. The one. She was a change he was or was not ready for.

I enjoyed falling in love with Derry. I knew from book one that he would be the one that could change things in his favor. He did that and more. Jessica was all his, but not without some work.

Jessica Murphy is starting her job at the Platinum Club and her sole focus is doing the job and earning the money for her schooling. She doesn't expect to meet her sisters fiancee' brother, who has a reputation of being a playboy, McDermott "Derry" Stanton. Derry doesn't know what it is about Jess but the more he is around her the more the need to have her is driving him. However Derry may not a lot about the fairer sex but he doesn't know anything about courting a mate.

I tried to like Derry but I never really got there. Liked the concept of this one, just didn't the find the chemistry I was looking for.

Ummm... What did I just read?

I love a good shifter romance but this was nothing. The characters are absolute shit, especially the main leads' families and especially the female leads mother and sister.
Mother first tells the female lead to find a nice guy and settle down and then goes on to accuse her that she is jealous and trying to act out. The sister is going to marry a wolf shifter then sits there and tries everything to separate Derry and Jess? Like what the ever loving hypocritical fuck?

There is not one redeeming quality I found in any of the characters. I think the only characters that were remotely good were Jess and Molly.

This book is filled with hypocritical judgemental manwhores, a flat male lead, a flat storyline with no purpose and sex for the sake of it.

Ok follow-up to the first book

I really, really wanted to love this book because I wanted to cheer for Derry who was portrayed as a manwhore in the first book. I was also cheering on Jess, who is Lilah's younger sister who is a virgin. As I kept reading though the book I didn't really feel an emotional attachment to either of the characters. This was a bit disappointing. I storyline seems perfect the characters do too, but somehow the entire story was a bit stiff and a little cold and didn't touch any emotion inside of me...not sure how else to explain it.

Oh Derry❤ Loved dipping in the inner intense him that was hidden under his man-whore facade.
I'm emotionally spent🔥

This is Jess & Derry's story.
Jess just started working at the exclusive platinum club where her sister worked previously, to make money for her med school.

There she met Derry, his soon to be Bro-in-law, who's a regular there.

The Beat was there from the start, but none understood. Primal.

Through Elevator, Humiliation (his!) & Wine cellar..
The enormity of this didn't come, until he came to know she's a virgin.

As it was Gavin & Lilah's wedding, they'd to stay close, as best man & bridesmaid.

She saw his shifter form, she accepted. Hope Bloomed.
But is she the one?

Through their giving into temptation & all the funny endeavours, one thing was certain. No one thought he can change his playboy ways.
That he'll leave her heartbroken. But it was his heart that broke. Confusion & Misunderstandings stood b/w them.

Will love triumph it all?

I loved this book! Started immediately after the previous one❤ I devoured this story, Derry's pain left me shattered. I was an emotional mess.. My heart soared when he found Jess through his goodness & Art..
Loved seeing his other side❤
Ahem, can't help it if I'm more attached to Derry, he's my love😘

P.s. so looking forward to Ed & Molly's story!

What a juicy man. From the guy you want to stay away from to the only one you could ever want. Derry is a heart breaker in so many ways. What an excellent second story in this series. I can't wait to read about the others.

I received an ARC for an honest review. I have never been so happy to receive an ARC. I was anticipating loving Derry from his introduction in the previous book, but this surpassed my expectations. Diana Seere brought to life Jess and Derry as two wonderful and complex characters with so much love to share despite their families trying to keep them apart for their own good . I shared the emotions of the characters through joy and anticipation to frustration and anger when they were hurt. They were underestimated by everyone around them and together they brought out the best for everyone to see. The shifter element flows seamlessly through the book and this story helps solidify the Billionaire Shifters as a series to follow and love. Brilliant work, thank you :)

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Jess and Derry's story is a satisfying addition to the series. At first glance, these two seem like polar opposites--the reserved virgin and the happy-go-lucky manwhore--but there is something definitely there. What they have to figure out is whether or not they are the One for each other, or just a scorchingly hot fling. It was delightful to read their story of discovery of not only themselves, but each other. It was also very enjoyable to learn more about this shifter world. I look forward to the next in the series.

Jess and Derry, They are both so unique and interesting in their own way but put them together and you can just see the sparks fly. Their story is one I fell into and was happy to visit, (did not want to end) This shifter wold is so complex and diverse that it just captures the reader and we are happy it does not let go. It is so much more than just a story about two amazing individuals finding the other half that makes them whole it is about family and ties that bind us all. I am eagerly looking forward to the next story.

This is the first book I have read of Diana Seere. I have to say I truly loved this book. There might of been a few characters I did not like but that is expected when reading a good book.

McDermott “Derry” Stanton is a true playboy and a sexy bear shifter. It is nothing for him to take 3 to 4 women home a night. When reading about Derry’s life I had to think what a tiresome and lonely life that must of been. Sure he had tons of women and he was some what close to his siblings. But he did not have that one person that would love him for who he truly was. Not one person that knew his heart and his secrets.

Jessica Murphy was a force not to be messed with. The moment she laid eyes on Derry she knew she was in trouble. She did not need this type of trouble in her life. She could lose her job. She was trying to get through med school and would a playboy really want a virgin like her?

I loved the song and dance these two went through. It was like reading about some type of mating dance. My heart actually broke for them as well. Seem like these two will have to battle the world by themselves. Though fate was for them it was like the world was not.

I got mad at Derry and Jessica’s family. They should of been happy for them not trying to tear them apart at every corner. It did not seem like one person was supportive of these two. When reading this story you will want to reach in the book and slap a few people around.

Asher who was Derry’s older brother really angered me. He seems to hate humans. I do not care what he went through in his past it does not give him the right to act the way he did in the story. He was a hateful, full of anger, bitterness, resentment, and was just a miserable person. It seemed he wanted everyone around him to be miserable as well. Yeah, I did not like him to much.

Starting out I did not like Derry’s sister Sophie but by the time the story was over I truly loved Sophie and Derry’s younger brother Edward. Derry will end up in a dark place and will need these two more then he truly knows.

I love how protective Derry was of Jessica. It truly pained him to see her hurting and when things are looking dark he will do what ever it takes to save their relationship. I truly liked him for that.

This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the book.

I have THOUGHTS on this book. Derry is a man who gets around (if you know what I mean) so much it’s basically his personality. And Jess is well complicated. She’s innocent yet hard. Intelligent yet naive. She’s so much more than Derry.

Let’s start with what I did like:
-shifter romance
-fated mates
-virgin heroine
-side characters reappearance
-humor and emotion (it made me cry at certain parts)
-Derry’s complete lack of interest in other women after meeting Jess
-Molly is everything. I’m so glad we got to see more of her. And Edward’s story is shouting to be next!
-complicated shifter conversion stuff. It’s not a one size fits all blueprint
-completely different plot than the first book. Engaging work til the last page (if I could’ve not worked I would’ve binged this book)
-Eva is freaking growing on me. I kind of love her.
-Diverse shifters within the same pack
-Sophia after she sees Derry truly loves Jess (but not when she was a dick at brunch)
-I did grow to love Derry. And I almost immediately loved Jess (even if she was an ice queen)

What I didn’t like:
-OW drama. Like a lot. I don’t mind OM drama, mostly because it makes the sexy possessive side only book crushes can accomplish in a non toxic way. Throughout the book Derry just couldn’t believe he wasn’t attracted to other women. It was gross
-this story made me like Gavin less. Like what the hell? He came across so elitist and a dick. Like he could somehow have a fated mate but Derry couldn’t? I had moments with Lilah too where I was just disappointed. How many times did she have to question Jess on whether or not she was sure they were the One for each other
-Also both Derry and Jess let others get into their head. Sometimes at the stupidest moments. Like when Gillian insinuated Jess wasn’t a virgin and Derry questioned that shit hard. Like my man, are you dense?
-Asher. He’s such an asshat. He comes across as bitter. Yeah yeah he’s trying to protect his brothers but can he have a story where he isn’t the villain? It makes me not want to read his story
-I wish Derry had admired Jess for her intelligence more. Yes he supported her ambition but did he ever tell her how proud he was of her work? Her tenacity? Nah.
-Jess’ goal of being a doctor should’ve been delved into more. Why pre-med? What drove her?

Do I regret reading this book? Hell no. Would I read it again? Probably but skimming to my favorite parts. Did I have mixed feelings? I mean obviously based on my rants above. But was it worth the read? Yes. Absolutely. Without a doubt.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

After reading the first one, and seeing the premise of the second one I was honestly excited to see someone fight the pull of 'The One.'
I honestly expected to like this one more than the previous one from the premise alone, but it just fell flat with me.

The whole premise of this book (& the series) isn't a bad one, and I really love the how the female characters aren't your typical 'supermodels' but real beauties. The problem I have is that at with these books it seems that around every corner these characters are on each other like rabbits in a field. I get that its 'The Beat' or whatever, but seriously at least half of this book is sex scenes & after a while you just skip them because they are boring and unimportant. They are also very predictable, the storyline from the first novel pretty much was copied in the second but with different characters. Yes there were some changes but the main points of the plot you could see coming from miles away just from reading the first book and also predictable writing. The women in the story are suppose to be strong, independent, and confident, but when it comes to their 'mate' (or whoever) they fall into the stereotype role of a meek girl who needs a man. It got really annoying by the end, I don't really know why I read the second one (maybe I thought it would get better) but I will definitely not be reading anymore in the series.

This was the first book that I have read of Diana Seere. It is the second book in the series but I was able to follow this book without reading the first. I did like a few of the characters and a dislike for others.

McDermott "Derry" Stanton is the playboy of the family. His family is kinda unique it consists of three brothers which is two wolves and a mountain lion, and a sister who is also a bear. None of his siblings think Derry will find his mate because bears never mate one person.

Jessica "Jess" Murphy has one thing on her mind school she has no time for anything else. To pay for her schooling she gets a job as a waitress at Platinum Club. She is set off balance when she runs into Derry in the elevator. Derry is her sisters soon to be brother-in-law.

I liked the connection Derry and Jess have but their family interfered a bit too much. Between Derry's brothers and sister and Jess sister these two have a mountain to climb. I did have a few characters that I would like to know more about like Edward and Molly but not sure how I feel about Asher. Here is a bigger story with Asher but his attitude holds me back from learning more about him.

McDermott "Derry" Stanton comes from a family with 'old money', he keeps his passion for his chosen field a secret and is known for his playboy attitude toward life and women. One elevator ride with the new employee and his future sister-in-law and The Billionaire Shifter's Virgin Mate changes him in unexpected ways.

Jessica Murphy is a premed student and working at the club is the best paying job she can find to finance her studies. She has goals and they do no include becoming The Billionaire Shifter's Virgin Mate although she is a virgin. The ride in the elevator changes Jess too and she can't stop thinking about Derry and even dreaming about him.

The story is full of hot shifter romance, funny situations and family wanting to control the couple and make things difficult. Add a nasty rich boy from Jess's past too make the romance hit another difficult situation, her sister's wedding to Derry's brother and The Billionaire Shifter's Virgin Mate is a good shifter story.

The player gets his mate

Ever thought you will meet your mate in elevator? That's exactly what happens with Derry. He meets Jess on her first day on the job at the Platinum club. McDermott is Gavin's younger brother and soon to be brother-n-law to Lilah who happens to to be Jessica's sister. Do you see the dilemma. And he is also a customer of the club and Jess is a waitress at the club and. You cannot get involved with anyone at the club. Also, women go Ganga over this playbook so imagine the chaos. The twist and turns. This is a roller coaster of a ride. Oh yeah did I mention they are the best man and maid of honor? You have to really read this book. But if you have not read the first one yet I highly suggest you so you will know they back story first. Plus it's just really good reads. Cannot wait for Asher's, Edward's and Sonja(Derry's twin ) books come out. I believe Asher book comes out Nov 15th.

Loving this series, so glad Derry got his story along with Jess. Both siblings were crucial in the first book and it’s nice to see them get their own story. Derry is misunderstood, yes he’s a bit of a flirt, and he’s slept with more women that he can count but does that mean he’s incapable of love?? Jess is so adamant that school and her job are all she’s concentrating on that her odd reaction to Derry is not what she needs right now. Derry doesn’t understand it but can’t deny it, he wants and needs Jess but will obstacles get in the way?
Loved the story, plot, characters, although this is about Derry and Jess it also centres around the whole family, at Lilah and Gavins wedding. We see more of the Stanton’s and where the series can go. I have to admit Lilah, her mother and Asher really got all my nerves but you need the angst. Lots of banter, great loving moments, hot sexy moments and overall a great story.

Virgin Mate Could Be Curvy Match

This book is so very similar to Book 1. Derry and Jess are the main characters in this book. Two curvy sisters, one a virgin, and two shifter brothers, a wolf and a bear, are the Ones for each other. The background characters are exactly the same and had to learn the same lesson in this book as in book 1. Asher is especially hard nosed about shifters not mating with humans. Sophia still didn't understand but her eyes may have been opened in this book considering that Derry is her twin.

You know that the next book will star Edward and another human. Hopefully, Sophia will be more accepting. Don't know if Asher will change. Because the storyline are so similar, I'm not interested in reading other books in this series. Others may feel differently.

Ok.

I started this series back to front with Shifters Secret Baby. This was my most favourite blurb after it, although I do recommend reading in order, as I should've done. I must admit I loved Jess and Derry. I didn't like the other supporting characters such as Lilah, Gavin, Sophie and Asher. I found them so two faced and hypocritical. Yes it was meant to be to create this storyline but I found so little redeeming features I won't be reading their stories. This story dragged out quite a bit and felt repetitive, hence only four stars.
This is my opinion only, I would still recommend this series, it is well written.

The Billionaire Shifter's Virgin Mate by Diana Seere is book Two in the Billionaire Shifters Club series. This is the story of McDermott "Derry" Stanton and Jessica Murphy. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Derry never thought to feel his heart beat for just one women but when he meets Jessica it does. But no one believes that he can love just one women not his family nor her. But he has to show them that they are wrong.
Enjoyed their story.

Book 2

Derry and Jess. I like the series and the family but I keep waiting for that but extra. There are unanswered questions and parts that just seem to be missing. Like with the book, does Jess change? There are all the hints that she will. Why is there the same issues that were in the first book? Why could they not keep their hands off each other? Why is Jess going through crazy hot and cold flashes? I was hoping she was going through the change and went into heat because of it. It just needed another layer to the story.

Yikes

I will be honest...I read over 52% before throwing up my hands. I really enjoy paranormal shifter romance but this was nauseating. Derry comes across as sleazy and his siblings are awful. Jess is frankly, unrealistic and has no depth. Who goes from no men to screwing this guy without any hesitation? I know others enjoyed this but when the characters are so one dimensional and the story has dragged 17 long chapters with no real point, I just can't sway myself to keep reading. It is rare for me to not finish but I would die of boredom before the end.

Started out well, but I didn't think the author handled the transition from, one character being reluctantly attracted to the other, to being involved with them.
NB: Please don't tell me this is a 'spoiler' to anyone, & you didn't know main characters would get romantic in a romance novel.
Unfortunately, after this change in perspective, the story & characters changed, & it became a different book. I think that it could have (& would've been better if it) had kept having a fun, & funny narrative, even with the stronger emotions depicted.

It was okay

I didn't understand why everyone was so negative and against Derry and Jess being together. That aspect of the book was a hug turn off for me. Also the spice in this book was not as great as the first book. This book also had too much context and not enough dialogue. Like the fmc would have one word dialogue and then it goes into explain on her thoughts. By the time the dialogue conversation come back around, I totally forgot what was being talked about between the characters.
