Gold Medal Winner, Illumination Book Awards Christian Chick's Guide to Surviving Divorce is what your girlfriend would tell you, preferably over coffee and crepes, if she knew what to say. With a good dose of humor, it's full of life-giving encouragement as well as practical guidance. A book full of hope—from someone who has been there. "I walked into my local Christian bookstore with my head down, hoping no one would see the tears streaming down my face," writes the author. "I didn't want the usual version of surviving divorce have a glass of wine, slash his tires, head to Jamaica, and party like you did in college. I needed Godly advice from a woman who had walked in my shoes and lived to tell about it." Divorced does not have to be your label. You can heal and come out on the other side in triumph. Every year, 900,000 women of faith go through a divorce. This book is full of the wisdom and encouragement that Suzanne received, as well as the lessons she learned while the Lord was exchanging His beauty for her ashes. There is life on the other side. A life full of hope, healing, and triumph.
I read this so I could speak compassionately with someone going through a divorce should the need arise, and wow, there is so much good advice in here! I would even give this to those not going through a divorce but are in a loveless marriage where the husband is emotionally gone, even if there are no plans for divorce. This has what such wives need to hear. Great stuff! Also great are the recommended resources in the back of the book.
As a young woman experiencing such a tragedy, this book was very helpful in reassuring me that it will be alright. It’s a very practical guide that covers each question or thought you may have about this journey you’re on. Will definitely read again.
Good Read for anyone going through separation or divorce. Very funny moments in the book and down to earth not preachy at all and helpful Scriptures and awesome tips.
This book helped me to survive my unwanted divorce from my ex-husband. If you’re a Christian going through divorce, I would highly recommend it. I think if you aren’t a Christian you can still get some helpful advice from this, but it is heavy on the Christian and if that would make you uncomfortable I would not recommend it in that case.
