Civilization is on the brink of crumbling—and this time not just due to the zombie apocalypse. The roads have become dangerous, and what havens have been established are no longer safe. Murmurs of unrest—or maybe even a brewing civil war—are getting loud. No longer are zombies the only thing preying on those that think to brave the world outside the settlements. Yet as grave as things are getting, this is not the main issue that is plaguing Nate’s mind. He has bigger fish to fry.
Books in the series (so far): #1: Incubation #2: Outbreak #3: Escalation #4: Extinction #5: Resurgence
It's been a long time since I have found a series of books that has had me hooked so much I've lost sleep over it, snuck off and read it at work and even missed nights out to read it. Oh my god it's good. You are thoroughly invested in the characters from day 1. I know that there is one more book in this series and already I am mourning the loss.
Adrienne cannot write fast enough for me.....looking forward to many, many more in this series!!!
I love the Lucky Thirteen so very much!!! Just when I think I see where Adrienne Lecter is going with this story....I am surprised! Such an awesome storyline! I think I will go back and read the series from the beginning.....while I wait for number 6 and hopefully she will just keep going and going!!!
I fell into this series by a suggestion on Amazon.....I LOVE IT!! I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!! I've read all five books in three days....cannot wait for book six! I'm in love with Bree and the rest of the Lucky 13. I can't wait to see what her abilities are now as well as see vengeance reigned on Bucky and Taggard!!!!!!
Another great chapter in one of the best PA series around
I have to say I love this series. Starting with book one when the Z issue was almost an afterthought to the story, and going on to the other books where the author skillfully takes us to a reality that is actually very credible, given a few variables such as a zombie virus and a huge government conspiracy.
I like the Bree character because she is a real person. Sure, bisexual genius scientist that happen to work for shady biotech firms are not exactly a dime a dozen, but when we know her innermost feelings we recognize the same pettiness, insecurity, passive aggressive behavior we are all guilty of at some point.
That's what makes these books excellent. The protagonist is not some superhero above the human condition, she is a superhero steeped in the human condition. She is us, with a PhD in whatever it is that makes her a virologist, but she is us. Petty, unreasonable, vindictive, but also kind, looking for the best in people, self doubting, juvenile. She is all the best and the worse in us. She is human. In a genre populated by cardboard cutouts, one dimensional protagonists, she is a breath of fresh air.
I highly recommend this series. My only warning is that it makes more than half of the other offerings in the genre boring and cliche. Deal with it.
I've never liked Bree but I just can't go on reading her whining, boo hoo'ing and bitching any longer! She is a total pain in the ass, overreacting to EVERYTHING Nate does. And her poor me, it's all my fault crap is just too much. It IS her fault because she is an A hole! I made it 38%, just barely. Ugh!!!
Lately I'm on an apocalypse binge. I have been reading this series back to back.
Sometimes I shake my head, as some things are very improbable, but as it is the apocalypse, why not? Things can be a bit upside down and weird. Science has flown out of the window after all.
I have to say, when I decided to settle down and just take things as they come, I enjoyed the books very much. It is a different take, sometimes more edgy, other times lighter. Well blended action and human interest to keep the reader glued to the pages.
I am currently at book 6, but I'm a bit stuck, so I'm taking a small break.
What a ride! This one may be the best yet! You have to get into this story from book one. Bree changes from a virologist working in a hot lab to a very capable fighter with her group. And of course Nate. What a bunch of psychos they come across. Bree has to survive some real sickos.
This was one of my least favorites. It was action packed, but the people in in this story seem to have become truly evil or something - either they support or they are evil. There are so few good guys it makes you depressed. I also don't know what to make of her beginning or the people in the new town.
That said, it is a good read and you root for Bree the whole time. And I definitely can't believe I have to wait sooooo long until the next book!
Just...damn. Another great book like I've come to expect from this author. This book was a bit darker and bleaker to me than the others but I persevered through and was hooked to the explosive ending. I cannot wait for the next book! A must read series.
I love the world that was created, but I hate the MC. Such a whinny MC geez. That’s what irks me the most. I would have preferred Nates POV. God, I was only able to push threw because of the group rather than the MC. Sorry. I know other might like her, think she’s smart, brave, and badass. At least that’s how I believe the Author tried to portray her, but I found that she was weak, stupid, melodramatic, and worst of all, needy. She needs approval, she needs to command, she needs to constantly be in the thick of things, only to afterwards complain and whine, and bitch to everyone around her. There, that’s all I have to say. I only reached this point because I hoped she had died back in book 4, sadly she didn’t, and the summary of the book is misguiding, as if it was going to be in Nates POV, guess what? It’s not. This book is PostPartum Depression central.

Lecter definitely knows how to entertain a lover of post apocalyptic novels! In Resurgence, Green Field #5 some old players return with scores to settle. Nate and Bree have been trying to keep a civil war at bay as the serum soldiers are consistently being turned away from settlements after bringing survival needed supplies. Bree has more of a leadership role with settlements as Nate continues to lead their group, however it isn't until they take up a contract that everything changes.
Lecter really makes you jump with this one. Fast paced, very action packed moments keep you guessing on who will survive, who will die, and who will turn. Bree and Nate's story also goes a lot deeper as their relationship grows and turns a corner they may or may not survive.
This was a 'call out of work to continue to read' book. (I didn't because I like who I was working with yesterday) There was some dark s@%^ going on in this one. I could see our government doing that. The story was really good. Some of the reviews called Bree winey and said she was throwing a pity party. Her and Nate are recovering from some screwed-up events. Not to mention, Bree was an idealist at the beginning of the book, thinking people would come together to help one another, not stab one another in the back and betray your best friend. Even in the zombie apocalypse, people are lazy and judgmental. I too would like to believe people would join forces and help one another. I however work retail and sadly John Lennon's 'Imagine', is what my mother always called a pipe dream.
Raising my right hand, name is Lorraine and I'm addicted to these Green Fields books!!! Resurgence was another non-stop read!! Resurgence is mostly Bree getting seperated from her group. First she gets captured by Ethan's group in an underground compound. After escaping that, she winds up at another weird compound, where she finds her girlfriend Sam.
The continuing saga of Bree and Tate. As usual I was grabbed on the first page. A zombie apocalypse that doesn’t stop. You fall in love with the characters and you can’t stop reading because you have to know what is happening to them. If this is the type of book you enjoy, they are a must read!
Best book of series so far. Your writing style is riveting, could not put the book down.
I can't imagine where the twist and turns of this story are going. You have become my favorite writer. My daughter April got me started with this series and I don't want the series to end. I look forward to book 6.
Another great story line to continue this series. So glad that Bree was still kicking....well, as much as a half zombie can lol. Nate is still her knight in shining armor, rescuing her from that nasty breeding town. Ugh.....I can’t stand that all those people were such “followers” instead of realizing what was really going on. Let’s see what the next book brings....
So many things provide power, but nothing quite like the human spirit. This chapter in the series spotlights that premise extremely well. There's truly not much I can say without giving away the whole book. And it's just too good to be given away in a review.
I loved this book. Intense action that kept me on the edge all the way through it. The characters are amazing and the dialogue is hilarious. On to the next book in the series.
Wow...full of twists, turns , surprises and angst. Well written, fast paced and painfully human. Enjoyed every minute of this series and feeling a bit melancholy the series is coming to an end.
This one was my favorite of the series so far!! A lot of action!! A little less talking!! I’m so happy that Bree and Pia actually had a conversation!! You would think after a year they would finally have a good talk!! I couldn’t put this one down!!
Loved the last book so was very disappointed with this one. Lot of plot holes Just can’t really believe the storyline and dumbness of characters even Bree is becoming annoying.
This series is one of only a few that get better every book, from barely interested to fuel for conspiracy therapy mayhem at its best. The main character took a few books to become my bestie.
Absolutely brilliant series. The story line is gripping . The characters are a mix of those you like and those that you can't wait to see die a bloody gruesome horrific death . Great series would definitely recommend that you read it.
Just read it.... You'll love it too! Its best to go in order so you know what's going on and the context of all the relationships and people involved. Just do it.
