I felt quite sorry for the main character in this. It can't be easy to be in a back brace, especially when people at school are being horrible about it.

The romance in this wasn't awful, but I wasn't a huge fan of it.

This started out okay, although I did start to lose interest a bit as the story went along, as things moved along a bit too slowly for me.

Overall, An okay read.

This is first time reading this author, and I'm happy that I ignored negative reviews and gave this story a chance.
this is a story of April and Jaime. April has a lot on her 17yo plate w having to wear a brace contraption that she believes is defining her...until school starts w a new student, Jaime, who not only sees past the brace, but sees the real April.
The characters were well written and i believe they acted realistic in how typical high schoolers would react to the situations of teen love, facing fears, and even pettiness of cliques, parties and growing up. i did not give full 5 star review bc sometimes I was upset with the immaturity of April and would have loved seeing things/feelings of Jaime thru this relationship, but otherwise very good read!

Is the developing and growing love btwn April and Jaime truly a "tragedy" at their age? I agree with April that it would be more of a tragedy if she never took a chance in loving Jaime.

Just as, if I listened to negative reviews, it would be a tragedy to never have experienced the love of these two characters, or missed out on a wonderful YA romance by this author.

I thought this book was good. The characters were easy to relate. The relationship was sweet. Althought, i do feel there were some parts where the pacing seemed fast. One minute she's showing him around town, then he's asking her to be his girlfriend after one date. It didn't feel like insta-love. It just felt like intense attraction from the beginning. Overall, i loved the christmas and valentine moments between the couple. that was sweet. The jealousy part actually doesn't happen until the last 30 pages and then the ending. The ending was unexpected. I was surprised but at the same time it felt right for April to do something for herself and for Jamie. I would put this as If I Stay meets The Fault In Our Stars.

This is a story of April and Jaime. They are seventeen years old and starting a new year in High School. April has a lot on her plate with having to wear a back brace that she believes is defining her. Jaime has just moved to the small town and can have his pick of the social circles, but he sees April's tenacity in action and wants to be a part of her world. Will he be able to prove to April that he sees past the brace but sees the real April.

The characters were sweet at the beginning and you can totally empathize with them. We all know what High School is like so we can all relate at one point or another. I did find that it all went a bit fast at some points and then seemed to slow right down for others. The Valentines' day and Christmas bits were wonderful. The ending was quite sudden and shocking but seemed to be fitting to the characters and story.

This does have a unique story and characters that will have you invested from the start. I would recommend this book for fans of YA contemporary stories.
