Like a yoga class you can hold in your hand, a beautiful, full-color guide to letting sh*t go
Our world is filled with annoyances, and sometimes you need a little dose of humor to cope with the news cycle, your irritating co-worker, or that telemarketer who won’t stop calling. This refreshingly honest self-help book will guide you through a meditation to “breathe in strength, and breathe out bullsh*t.” An excellent gift for yourself or others, F*ck That is the very embodiment of modern-day self-care. May it help you find peace with the challenges that surround you…because they are f*cking everywhere.
Based on the viral video that had everyone from yogis to workaholics raving, F*ck That is the completely truthful and oddly tranquil guide to relieving stress and achieving inner peace.
Maybe I'm late in life to the truly appreciate the satisfaction that a well-placed expletive can have on your life, but I've arrived. And is it ever liberating.
There are serene images of nature along with your typical guided meditation....along with some choice obscenities.
"If you find your mind wandering to other thoughts, don't let it concern you. Just acknowledge that all that shit is fucking bullshit."
When the kids go to bed, hubby and I have a good time kicking back and venting about our day. And do we ever let the sentence enhancers fly! It cracks us up, helps us bond, and we can let go of our shitty day and focus on each other.
This book is great for those that internalize and hold on to anger. They fucking need to let it out or they are going to kill themselves. Literally. As a nurse, I know how many awful health effects that stress and anger can have on you. It ain't pretty. They also might snap and take it out on others.
Studies about swearing are showing some amazing things: It helps you feel less pain,
helps you feel more empowered, helps you cope, prevents violence, and as we all know, it's fucking hilarious.
If you can let it out and let it go, go for it. Be fucking creative. Spin those expletives into images you won't soon forget!
Fans of author Jason Headley asked for more. He now has a 2 minute youtube video featuring a lot of what is in this book. Youtube F*ck That: An Honest Meditation
He also created a well-worth-the-money app that has four curse-laden meditations in his soothing dulcet tones.
Pull aside your co-worker/friend/family member when they are the fucking pissed off. Tell them you have an amazing mediation to help them calm down. Share the book, Youtube video, or app. They each start off so innocently. Hubby and I have done this and it's hilarious watching others experience Jason Headly leading them to fucking zen.
Thank you Blogging for Books for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I shouldn’t even get credit toward the reading challenge for this one because it was literally a five-minute read. It reads at the pace of a children’s book (but, believe me, it is absolutely NOT for children!). I almost didn’t even log it into Goodreads, but it was just too funny and unique not to share! It is a meditation aid for helping you release and let go, but you must have a sense of humor to enjoy it.
First off, if you do not like curse words, as you can likely tell from the title, do NOT read this book! I repeat…do NOT! LOL
While browsing through the available books for request on Blogging for Books I came across F*ck That: An Honest Meditation and it reminded me of my older brother. Long and very boring story, so I won't go into it. So, I had to go ahead and request it and see what it was all about!
This may be one small and simple book, but it definitely has a big message.
As you read through the pages the books goal is to help you let go of all the stuff going on in your life so that you can move past it and not worry about it any more. And I will be honest, I didn't think it would work, but it did.
By the end of it F*ck That I had actually (temporarily at least) forgotten a lot of my problems. And it even got me to chuckle a couple of times!
However, I don't think this is a book you buy for yourself. I would say it is more of a book that you buy someone else that is going through a hard time that could use and may even need the chance to forget their problems for even just a short bit of time.
That all being said though, the person you are wanting to give it to needs to be okay with swear words as they are used in more than just the titles.
In regards to the pictures that are used through out the book, they do bring about a sense of serenity, but I didn't find them to be anything spectacular or unique. Which is some what disappointing, but they were all still pretty and nice to look at.
All in all, this is a great gift for a friend that could use this sort of message in their lives!
I am tempted to keep this in my work bag so I can pull it out when I need it and remind myself of the things I need to hold close. A) I am amazing as is. B) The turd burglars at work are just being them - and I need to stop letting their reindeer games impact me. C) There will always be turd burglars - so I should enhance my calm John Sparten. D) When in doubt see A).
A quick and hilarious little book of meditation gifted to me over the holidays. Seemingly a ridiculous premise, but it succeeded in making me laugh out loud after a long week inside of a looooong year (hey 2020) and I legitimately felt better after reading through. This book loosely pairs actual meditation ideas together with some choice words and beautiful photography. It IS ridiculous, but it works and I'm happy to have it within reach on the days when I need a reminder to maybe chill the f*ck out. 😌😂
It's hard to know how to rate this. It was a Christmas gift from my son and daughter-in-law and it made me laugh so much I had a coughing fit. It is very, very funny. And kind of lovely at the same time.
Now this is my kind of meditation book. Beautiful scenery and a truthful message that will never get old. This book includes a simple technique that will teach you how to let go and move on from your daily stresses. Don't walk, run, to read this book and enlighten yourself on how to have a moment of honest meditation that will surely delight, calm and prepare you to continue your day with a little less stress.
Short and sweet. Great book for those who meditate. WARNING: some language may be offensive. The illustrations are beautiful and very calming. Great gift idea. Great coffee table book and even better conversation piece. I found this gem in the humor section of Barnes and Noble and was laughing out loud by page three. Enjoy!!
Awesome. Made my day. Keep on hand after a tough work day or tough work week. Beautiful photos and a great intro to what Mindfulness Meditation is all about--with a sense of humour. Fine gift for friends who Meditate.
(Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book for review through Blogging for Books.)

In the vein of such classics as Go the Fuck to Sleep and You Have to Fucking Eat, F*ck That: An Honest Meditation is a humorous little picture book for adults - just, say, yogis or members of the self-help set vs. parents. Or, let's be honest: anyone who's ever spent time on the internet, because two minutes online will most certainly make you want to choke a motherfucker.
Headley juxtaposes profanity-laden meditations with lovely nature photography to create a beautiful and surprisingly soothing picture book.
It's cute and silly and good for a few giggles...and maybe also handy to keep on hand for those days when the world seems to be conspiring against you and you just can't even with this shit anymore. I suspect it'd make a nice gag gift or stocking stuffer for both the cynics and New Age types in your life, which isn't a demographic that overlaps very often, I don't think.
That said, Headley's meditations get a little flowery at times (e.g., "Free of calamity created by every last ranch hand at the fuckup farm."). While I give him mucho points for creativity in cursing, I would've rather seen him stick with simpler, more familiar phrases; ones that more easily slip off the tongue. Ones that could become mantras, easily repeated in times of stress. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things?
A delightful meditation book for all those who see value in letting go. The simple mix of reverent and irreverent tones makes for many smiles as well as helpful meditation.
If you like the idea of fuck that, but need a touch of support, this is your gem!
Love this! - F*ck That is just the sort of sweary self help book that fits my personality. I would be lying if I said I didn’t envision punching at least one person every day…even on my good days. I wouldn’t say I’m ‘angry’, but I do really appreciate a good therapeutic mental image of me throat punching someone. Take that as you will. So of course a humorous self help book called Fuck That caught my eye, I feel like if I didn’t request it I’d be betraying some part of myself.
It’s super short and mostly meant for a good laugh, but the meditation thoughts are still there so there isn’t any reason why you couldn’t learn to center yourself and stop wanting to pummel people. I have to say I’m sort of in love with this. I read like four times the same day I got it in the mail, not because I need that much deep breathing but because I was laughing so hard. I mean it may not be for actual mediation purposes, but the fact that “Think of something that makes you want to choke a motherfucker…” is a line pretty much makes me forget why I was even mad to begin with, so I’d say it works.
The photography in it is quite pretty as well, and adds to the ridiculousness of it. The price is a bit steep for a book this size ($14) but I’m tempted to buy a couple as gifts for my fellow swear loving people who probably need a break from all the mental aggression.
I got this book because I thought it would be funny and lighthearted, and that assumption was correct. I wouldn't recommend this book who doesn't think lightheartedly about cursing. Because there is a lot of it.
I received this book in return for a honest review. The thoughts expressed in this review are my own and not of the publisher.
I think this book was extremely funny! I laughed while reading every single page of this book, and can see myself rereading this many times. Jason Headley's take on meditation is hilarious. If you need a light hearted, short, sweet, and to the point book for meditation look no further because here it is!
A wonderful juxtaposition of profanity and nature photography. Colourful language balanced with stock photo prettiness. "Breathe in strength : breathe out bullshit". Buying this one - a great chucklefest.
