Rate this book
When photographer’s assistant Gary Holland meets three Australian underpants models—all called Bruce—on what should be a routine shoot in LA, it turns out to be anything but. He falls for the geekiest, yet sexiest, Bruce of them all, but soon learns Bruce has not only never been with another man but is an anxious virgin.

Bruce lives in the whimsically named town of Come By Chance in northern New South Wales, population 178. After a torrid fling starts in California, Bruce wants Gary to visit him in the land down under. Shocks, laughter, love, a shy kangaroo named Phillip, a goose called Zeus and a tractor that thinks it’s a horse, soon welcome Gary to a life he never thought he’d want to live. Can two men who are such opposites make a life together? Does love like this really…come by chance?

When I first saw the title of AJ’s New book Come By Chance.. My First thought was OHHHHHHH AJ’s writing something Dirty!!! I got excited well more than I normally do lol… Anyways when I finally sat down to read it I realized Our Aussie writer was taking us in a trip down Memory lane. Come By Chance is a Town in Australia... Actually the book took me down a stroll of memories because he talked about places Like a Thrift shop called St. Vincent DePaul’s. Growing up in Syracuse NY we had many of them around and often got some of the apartments we lived in as kids furnished by them. I loved this story. The Inspiration for it came from Good Reads and I was thrilled to see that he expanded on the original and once again AJ didn’t disappoint. Come By Chance is as hot and sexy as any of his others.

The story picks up after AJ’s Original story. Gary has packed up and traveled from Sunny Warm California to the Hot Humid country of Australia. Gary is sitting in an airport waiting for Bruce A Hot Hung Aussie who’s down to earth and geek who has turned Gary’s quiet life upside down. Bruce is keeping some secrets and the smart geeky Aussie might need to let go of his fears of being a poof and openly embrace the gay man that he is. They share some hot sex all over Australia and finally go home to Come By Chance just in time for the Come By Chance Picnic races; to meet a shy Kangaroo named Philip and realize that love sometimes comes by chance.

Like all AJ Novels you come to expect Sex... This book doesn’t disappoint. Not only does this book rate a 100 on my Erect Peni scale I have to give this book an A++++++ for just the sheer beauty that is the land down other. I learned so much about Oz (except why it’s called OZ *note the Hint there AJ*) that it’s now on my top ten places I want to see before I die. Thanks AJ *giggles*
This is another Must Have Book of AJ’s and on my scale of 1-10 (1 being it can wait for Payday and 10 being SELL THE KIDS (furry and other) and BUT this book) this book is a 10!!! You need to pawn the Children and get this book!!!!!!

I absolutely loved this book. Not just because it had me laughing out loud, and because the characters were so HOT together. A lot of it had to do with the personal memories I have of living in Australia for six months – it brought all of them back. Well, not the bits that took part in the bush and on the remote farm, but from the mention of bug spray in the plane just before landing and the airport in Sydney, where Gary arrives, to all the places he and Bruce visit when they’re ‘in town’, it made me smile. The descriptions are so lively that I felt as if I really was back there again. Made me homesick for a place I totally adore!

The shorter version that was part of the goodreads MM Romance group Hot Summer Days event was already great, with the three Bruces and the trouble they get themselves into. Luckily, it is also part of this book, so you won’t miss anything. But this longer version? Fantastic! More of the same in every way: more of Gary, and his slightly hesitant way of looking at things, trying to get used to a very different country and wondering if he can make things work with Bruce. More of the sexy Bruce, who is a bit reluctant to admit he is gay, but can’t deny his attraction to Gary. More of the great descriptions of the landscape, the heat and the people of Australia. And, of course, yet more hot sex between two men who are clearly falling for each other.

If you like Australia, hot men, and a wonderful sense of humor, you will probably like this book. If you need a laugh, or want to learn more about ‘down under’, buy this book, and be ready to truly enjoy yourself. I’m keeping this one on the ‘want to re-read’ stack – pretty close to the top.

This was a fun little story. I was interested to read it because of the Australian characters and the Australian setting for part of the book. The characters were likable, and the pace fast, making this an easy book to read in one sitting.

The first part of the story takes place in the US where Bruce (one of three Bruce's) takes part in an underwear modelling shoot. He and Gary fall for each other and Gary ends up following Bruce back home to Australia.

Part of the story reads like a travel article, particularly the descriptions of the attractions of Sydney. As a Sydney-sider, I can attest that they are mostly spot on. Bruce happens to be an architect so there's a lot of information given about the early convict architecture of the city.

Bruce seemed quite versatile and a touch unrealistic - underwear model, architect, building owner, resident of a small outback town (population 187).

On their travels, Bruce and Gary explore their sexual relationship and meet some interesting characters (I'm not completely sure about the relevance of the whole part about dinner with the kid wanting to be on Toddlers and Tiaras), and end up at Bruce's home in the country town of Come By Chance (I had to look it up but it does exist!). There we meet the elderly aunt, the pet kangaroo and the boys have fun on a tractor.

So all in all, a bit of light-hearted fun, that provides a bit of Australian flavour.

A GREAT fun romp through the wilds of the Australian outback! I think I laughed through the whole story, but especially the end (which I won't describe for those who haven't read the story yet)! I'm not sure where Mr Llewellyn gets his inspiration from, but I wish I had a little of it. If laughter is 'the best medicine' everyone should run out and get sick right away to enjoy the healing process!

It's always interesting reading about your own country through the eyes of a stranger. In this case only half a stranger, as unlike the narrator, AJ was actually (apparently) born here. This has enabled him to be aware of the differences between the two countries and he slots those into this amusing romp.
At times, it reminded me of one of those movies that hops from place to place with gay abandon, bringing in every possible landmark, no matter how far apart, but I excuse it on the fact that they were on a sight-seeing tour, so maybe they could go from Kings Cross to the Blue Mountains via Mosman....
Details like that aside, for those who have never been here, yes, Australia is like that....

I enjoyed this quick, short read and thought the humor in it was really fun. I liked all of the characters (well, except Craig's bratty little girl). Bruce is a model that travels to LA from Australia for a photoshoot where he meets photographer's assistant, Gary Holland.

I thought this was a cute story and I enjoyed all of the Aussie phrases and A very nice short story.

I think this book could have been rated much higher if it had a little more length and development. I wanted to get to know the characters a little better and I didn't quite feel the connection between them until they were

Oh god, so dreadful, so improbable I don't think I there was any stereotype that was missed, as an Australian I am vaguely horrified at how we are perceived still 30 since crocodile dundee... really nice idea with the pet kangaroo but,99% of Aussies have only petted one at a zoo!
