كتاب دسم حافل بتراجم علماء الفيزياء المرتبة زمنياً
والتي تشتمل على شرح لأفكارهم وإسهاماتهم العلمية
وقد يعتري قارئه بعض الملل بسبب هذا القدر الكبير من النظريات والمواضيع

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
كتاب قصة الفيزياء، وما أدراك ما الفيزياء!
يتحدث الكتاب عن شيئين، علماء الفيزياء وحياتهم، ونظريات الفيزياء وكيف تطورت أثناء حياتهم، بتسلسل زمني واضح مقنع.
يبدأ الكتاب من أولى نظريات الفيزياء اليونانية ويمشي بك خطوة خطوة حتى تصل إلى النسبية والكم، وستعرف بهذا المسير كيف توصل أينشتاين وماكس بلانك لنظرياتهم، فهم لم يأتوا بها من الفراغ، بل وكما قال نيوتن قامت أعمال كل الفيزيائيين على جهود العمالقة الذين سبقوهم.
ستستمتع كثيراً يقراءة الكتاب وخصوصاً إن كنت من محبي الفيزياء والرياضيات. وستلاحظ أموراً جميلة كثيرة لعل منها:
* أن لا شيء مستحيل مع الإرادة القوية والعمل الجاد، فبإمكانك إن أردت أن تترك قراءة هذه المراجعة وتبدأ مسيرتك لتكون عالماً في اختصاصك أو في أي اختصاص تختاره الآن، كل ما أنت بحاجة إليه، هو العمل الجاد الدؤوب مع الإرادة القوية، لاشيء آخر، سوى الطعام طبعاً :).
* معظم كبار العلماء حصل على تعليمه بنفسه، بمعنى أنه ثقف نفسه بنفسه. وهذه بارقةأمل وحافز لنا جميعاً لنسلك طريقاً نلتمس به علماً كما علمنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، المدرسة والجامعة طريق نسلكه كلنا، ولكن يجب أن نسلك طرقنا الخاصة فهي سبيل لسعادة لا مثيل لها ولا توجد على غير هذه الدورب!.

* كما أن معظم أولئك العلماء كانت بدايتهم مع محاضرة ما أو كتاب ما قرؤوه بالصدفة فأشعل فيهم تلك الشعلة الكامنة، فانطلقوا وراءها مؤمنين بأنفسهم، ومع العمل كان ما كان مما بنوه من صروح العلم. لذلك لا تترك المطالعة بكل أشكالها، فلعل منها ما يوقد فيك تلك الشعلة وتكون عالمنا الذي نفتخر به :)
* الكون آيات ولكها تدلك على وحدانية الخالق، فلا يمكن لكون بهذا الجمال وهذا الاتساق أن يولد عبثاً وبالصدفة، فتبارك الله أحسن الخالقين والحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاة و السلام على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم.

من احسن الكتب العلمية اللى قرتها لحد حالا .
بس الترجمة مش ممتازة لان المترجم استخدم الفاظ غير اللى بتستخدم مثال على دا فرق الكمون المفروض كان يقول فرق الجهد , واليورانيوم كان بيقولها اورانيوم
حاصل الضرب قالها جداء , عموديا قالها شاقوليا ... وغيرها
بس مع ذلك كتاب رائع ويمكن ميعجبش معظم الناس لانبعض فصوله مش مبسطة زى الفصل قبل الاخير بتاع فيزياء الجسيمات

This book is a run-down of the major contributors and breakthroughs in the history of physics, from the observations of Archimedes to the scientific revolutions of the 20th century: quantum theory and relativity. It reads kind of like a history book, with short bios of scientists in chronological order, but with detailed explanations of the important stuff they did and how it all ties together.
Sometimes the writing style was dry and I had to slog through, but my only real complaint was the total lack of pictures and diagrams to help explain the processes and equations that are discussed, sometimes at length. An entirely text-based medium doesn't seem like the most helpful way to really dig into stuff like electromagnetism, at least not for me…so I found myself googling a lot to try to grasp some of the more complex ideas, and learned a lot in the process. My math at this point is limited so in a few places I was just lost, but I think I still got the big picture, anyway.
It’s so amazing to think about all the crazy awesome stuff that we know and all the beneficial technology that comes from harnessing and manipulating nature. My favorite chapter was on sub-atomic particles and all their weird properties and interactions. And I was particularly struck by the earth shattering discovery of the laws of thermodynamics in the 19th century and how that resulted in the first engines that revolutionized industry and by extension, all of society. I hadn't thought about all the implications of those laws that we take for granted in the modern world.
It was really cool to read about the often extreme dedication and genius of the great minds of science and to see how physics has advanced from seemingly disconnected explanations of natural phenomena to a progressively more cohesive understanding of the fundamental forces and matter that make up this fascinating universe. Although written from a secular viewpoint, reading this definitely reinforced for me the fact that all of creation declares the glory of God.

I'm fairly unimpressed with this book so far. The authors' attitude seems condescending for one; not necessarily to the reader, but to physicists of history who did not get everything right. They reproach the Greeks for being too empirical, which makes little sense; Asimov in Understanding Physics makes a far better case that they were not empirical at all. They criticize Democritus for not associating his atomic theory with electricity and magnetism, calling his theory sterile and useless, without mentioning that the scientists that later discovered the atom were inspired by his work.
This sneering at many historical physicists is annoying and offputting, and is indicative of the general attitude of the book, which I find unpleasant.
However, Motz is well-qualified to discuss the science, even if the philosophy (as is often the case in this sort of book) suffers. The book is not too dense or unreadable; it is accessible to any educated layman.
Take note, though, as the authors make clear early on, that this is not a history of physics; instead, it is exactly what the title states: an overview of the major ideas and personalities that led to the current state of physics.
This sneering at many historical physicists is annoying and offputting, and is indicative of the general attitude of the book, which I find unpleasant.

إذا أردت مدخلاً لعلم الفيزياء وروعته فهذا الكتاب هو المدخل الحقيقي. حيث يبدع الكاتبان في عرض قصة الفيزياء منذ فيزياء القدماء عند اليونانين وبداية تشكل ملامح هذا العلم الى عصر النسبية وميكانيكا الكم . ومما زاد الكتاب شمولاً وجمالاً هو أن الكاتبان مزجا بين تاريخ كل عالم ونبذة عن حياته وبين مناقشة اكتشافاته وعرضها بطريقة علمية مبسطة تأخذك في هذا العالم العظيم الذي يمتد من الجسيمات الدقيقة الى النجوم والكواكب والمجرات العظيمة.
هناك عيب صغير في الكتاب وهو عدم التعرض لإي من إنجازات المسلمين في علم الفيزياء ولكن يشفع للكاتبين أن الحضارة الغربية بشكل عام في تأريخها للعلوم والمعارف لطالما قفزت مباشرةً من الحضارة اليونانية الى بداية عصر النهضة متجاوزة العصر الوسيط الذهبي للعلوم عند المسلمين فهذا خط عام عند الغرب .

كتاب من راائع جدا جدا وبستحق اكثر من خمس نجوم... بنصح كل فيزيائي بقرائته... من احلى الكتب اللي قراتها بحياتي ومن اكتر الكتب اللي استفدت منها ... بحكي عن تاريخ الفيزياء وتطورها من فترة ما قبل الميلاد للابحاث اللي كانت تجرى بفترة اصدار الكتاب ( فترة التسعينات )ونبذة صغيرة عن حياة كل عالم في مجاله ... لو انا مسؤولة بقسم الفيزيا بالجامعة ما بتردد ولا لثانية انو احط الكتاب مساق اجباري ...
