Demon Magic #4

Enchanting Exposition

Rate this book
Maybe it wasn’t my best idea to draw dark magic into myself to save a friend… but it’s definitely not my worst (don’t ask Havoc what that was). The first thing on our list of “Save Miles from the Dark Magic That Might Be Making Him Do Ridiculous Things” is to destroy the ominous book that’s snagging my attention. But what I don’t expect is to be dragged into the book filled with dark mysteries that leaves me with more questions… and a lack of pants.

But it’s nothing that Havoc and I can’t handle. The two of us have proven that our relationship is strong enough that we can face anything life throws at us, so I think we can handle a measly book… maybe… I mean, so far it may look like we’re not winning, but that’s just because it’d be boring if heroes won immediately.

And it’s not like we have to fight this battle alone, especially with an awe-inspiring dragon familiar who is forced to face his greatest adversary (a common housecat), a narcissistic angel who comes with a sword that compliments every cut made, a centaur who always manages to look like he’s on the set of a cologne commercial, and… Etienne (whatever he is).

With the demon I love by my side and my found family, we’re going to stop this darkness before it spreads. But doing so might unveil some things we never expected.

Audio: 5 stars, I love Greg B’s narration for this series!!
Book: 4-4.5 stars

Waaaaay better than book 3! This was like the first 2 books and I loved it! Every time Miles went in to “Emperor/God Miles” mode I just about died of laughter with the things that came out of his mouth! Haha

So happy from how this book turned out and I hope there are more with this crazy cast! And maybe just maybe we would get Havoc’s POV in the next one? Haha

Utterly bonkers in the best way

All of Alice's series' are funny, but this one absolutely takes the crown for being the most wacky and the funniest.

I'm going to be smiling for a long time over Emperor Miles and with Menace's impersonation of a sulky teenager.

Fabulous book!

My favorite thing about this book was that the silliness of the previous book was dialed way back. I’m not saying that it didn’t have it’s moments cos Alice Winters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but it didn’t feel OTT either. It felt reminiscent to book one which is why I fell in love with Miles and Havoc and then in book 2, Menace. 🥹 I really enjoyed this book but I swear that Geoff is the gift that keeps on giving and doesn’t even bother coming with a gift receipt. 😒 I’m looking forward to what’s to come for Miles and Havoc.

Alice Winters showed up in my feed...in a difficult time. So following her hitman was an unaccustomed joy. I've been ensuring at least one of her books is on my reading list. Just to brighten it up a bit.

I loved this one! So hilarious, I just love this whole group so much. The Penetrators!!

I cannot recommend this series enough that you listen to the audiobooks. Greg is hilarious. Between Havoc, Marco, Lachlan, Isa, just everyone! It's nonstop laughs for me.

In this one, we get to learn a bit more about Miles and Havoc's past and see the results of Miles having taken on dark magic at the end of the third book. Enter: Emperor Miles LOL. You'll understand when you read it.

This series has such great found family feels - it's a wild, zany bunch of people who are ridiculous and over the top, and so so great together. I can't wait for more!

The audio was wonderful as always
Another magical and hilarious story in the Demon Magic series. Miles and Havoc are dealing with the events from the last book, so this really needs to be read in order. Miles has new, dark magic inside him and a book to destroy.
New characters to love, lots of magic and action, and I actually cried with laughter. Menace is a menace, especially if your name is Cottontuft!
I loved the scenes where Miles had the darkness taken over. A complete personality change and so funny!

All hail Emperor Miles!

It’s such a great day when I get to immerse myself in one of Alice Winters’ insanely funny worlds! The levels of ridiculousness are truly epic. While Miles and Havoc are the MCs in this series, it’s the secondary characters that really make these stories shine. I could read about their silly antics forever. The following was just one of my favorite quotes from the book:

“I’m a mess,” I realize as I’m pulled after Havoc.
“You are,” Etienne agrees as he rides up on his horse Enzo. “But that’s okay. Because I’m pretty sure we all are and that’s why we get along so well.”

I laughed so much I scared mu cat multiple times. This story was just so sweet and hilarious and it went in ways I was not expecting but it was perfect.
Miles and Havoc has come a loooong way and their found family is growing so much. And Menace is a ball of sassiness and I love him. Picturing his shocked face and when the face when someone compliments him, he just loves Miles and being useful. He doesn't love kittens trying to get Miles's attention but that's another different hilarious story.

Miles, Havoc, and Menace are back with the whole gang!

I was so excited to hear the next book was coming out and I was not disappointed. As in true Miles and Havoc fashion it hits the ground running and chaos and hilarity ensues.

This book was a little different to me I felt like Havoc and Menace were the strong and steady ones helping Miles and keeping him level and grounded. I think the most character growth was seen in Havoc seeing him put away his ego and selfishness to protect Miles. Now don’t think he isn’t still the same egocentric, selfish, and all around awesome Havoc he just grew a bit.

There was more vulnerability in Miles realizing that everything isn’t his fault and his to fix. I think he gets to see how much he is cared for and how he isn’t responsible for everyone how he is truly part of a group.

As for the rest of how I think of them Miles’s gang they are some of the best side characters I have ever read about. Hilarious, sweet, clueless, and completely entertaining.

This book is just another amazing addition to one of my favorite series. One word of advice use caution when reading this in public you may laugh hysterically and without control!

⭐⭐⭐⭐/6.
🌶🌶/5.

I still love Havoc & Miles and their misfit group of friends although some stuff was a bit repetitive which can be on me because I read the previous books recently so I still remembered stuff.
With that said, these people are ridiculous and they never fail to make me laugh sometimes. They are ridiculous but cute and endearing at the same time especially Menace. He is a dragon but he behaves like a cat through and through. He resembles my cat sometimes which is kinda scary 😅

We had two new additions to the family and I loved them. Winter was another victim of Geoff who suffered for so long but finally has a group of people who might seem like a bunch of weirdos but they go to war for him too so he had no choice but to stick with them.
Lorelei is another demon who was freed and is now in the care of Evan. I hope she flourish under his care and that we see her again.

This book a fun time and I look forward to read another Alice winters book.

Yessss!! Another fantastic book!! Enchanting Exposition was again Miles, Havoc and all the gang in a new crazy adventure, this guys always brings mayhem to all the places they go and I loved it!!! Miles is dealing with the events form the previous book, the dark magic that is inside him is making him do crazy stuff… reading all the things poor Miles is going through is so fun, sorry Miles but is true!! While he is dealing with the magic inside him, Havoc, Menace and company are “trying” to help Miles, they need to destroy the book that is making him act like a crazy person.
I like so much this book, Miles trying his best to protect his loved ones, meeting the bad guy that turns out isn’t so bad and the actual bad guy, this story as always is hilarious, with lots of crazy stuff happening and lots of action. Menace of course loves to praise and his new enemy is adorable!! The love Miles and Havoc share is always so much fun and sweet to watch! I love these two!! If you love this series this book is a great addition!!

Nice little who's who sorta recap at the beginning there. Ridiculous as always but good when you need a laugh. Miles is back again with Havoc, Menace and the rest of the crew. Evil Miles was hilarious. Not an evil bone in the guy's body, just comedy. The way everyone is used to him now with either being deadpan or throwing in their own confusion was fun and kept things light hearted. There was continued plot in the form of dark magic in Miles and his magnetic obsession with a book.

That was the best bit. I liked Winter, so looking forward to more of him. Poor Cottontuft. Feels like E and Dyame foreshadowing their countdown on not bringing Miles back from the river. Strange but not too over the top. So much nakedness in this one.

I love these characters so fucking much but some of the writing here was exhausting. There were chapters upon chapters of dialogue that were just jokes after jokes between a hundred characters and it made me lose the plot.

More mayhem for Miles and Havoc.

My favourite mage and demon are back with their found family for more magical mayhem. There’s the usual combination of action and adventure mixed with hilarious/bordering on utterly ridiculous banter between not only Miles and Havoc but all the usual side characters from the series. A new villain is introduced as is another very interesting new character who’s motives can keep you guessing.

I loved the plot revolving around and inside an evil book. It had me turning the pages desperate for more. It was perfectly balanced with the ongoing romance between Miles and Havoc and Menace is his usual fabulous/grumpy menacing self, especially when Miles agrees to look after another cat for a friend. This wonderfully enjoyable and engaging read had me laughing out loud one moment then gasping out loud the next. I was captivated until the very end.

5 stars. Another stellar series from one of the cheekiest, silliest, BEST authors of all time. Alice Winters writes sensationally fun, funny, ridiculous stories filled with snark, wit, adventure, affection and romance. She has so many great books and this series is another example of a good-time in written form. Demon Magic is along the same lines as Medium Trouble, more shenanigans than Vampire Related Crimes. It less than The Hitman’s Guide. A perfect sweet spot!

A mage and a demon. Yes, please! Four book series, reviewed as a whole since it’s one big story. The MCs have known each other a long time, so we have a friends to lovers situation with great glimpses backwards where we learn more about their relationship and past through memories.

Great world building, nothing too complicated, pure entertainment. Wonderful cast of kooky side characters and just the right amount of bumbling, what-the-heck, cluelessness to make the story shine. Each book has a thwart-the-bad-guy storyline which gives us a battle marked by unpreparedness, klutzy, tomfoolery in the very best of ways. This isn’t some complex mission impossible story full of competency, so don’t read it for that. Read it for the light hearted take on a rag tag group of people with their heart in the right place, who just so happen to get the job done.

Series of four books, following the same couple. Must be read in order.

Mage, magic, demon, m/m, HEA, series.

I forgot how much I love this series until I had it back.

And now I’m happy because this was exactly what I needed in my life right now.

I missed this group of characters so much and I didn’t even realise it until I was back with them. All of the banter and situations they find themselves in are always the brand of silly chaos I’m here for.

It was like the best kind of fantasy slice-of-life and it—as it does every book—delivered on the funny and the feels. Havoc being sappy should not have been so precious and hot, but it was.

4.5/5. Menace is still the best. Everything was cute and fun and sweet and perfect. I’m off to my next adventure.

I always get so excited when Alice Winter's releases a new book! I went back and relistened to Malicious Midpoint to prepare for this book. The books in this series should definitely be read in order to fully understand and enjoy what's happening.
There's always a good mix of sweet moments to go with the comedy but this book had me crying laughing at moments!! Menace!! Menace is my absolute favorite 🤣🤣 my favorite series by Alice used to be Vex but I'm thinking Demon Magic has topped everything. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Another hilarious story in the Demon Magic series. This book picks up with dealing with the events from the last book, so it's best reading this series from the start. Which I would highly recommend. I love all the characters in this series, especially Menace, who officially became my new favourite character.

Thank you to the author for the ARC.

Love this world

Fantastic! The situations that Miles & Havoc manage to find themselves in would be terrifying if it weren't for the fact that you know that Miles & his found family will triumph and have you smiling and laughing along the way. I hope we see more of them in the future and they keep adding to their eclectic family.

Another crazy, fun read From Alice. Havoc and Miles and the gang are dealing with the events from the previous book. I’d read it from start of the series for the best enjoyment. There is ridiculousness, twists and turns and sweet moments. For me Menace is my favourite character in this series. He’s just so awesome.

I think I will have to go back and reread some of the previous books in the series and then jump back into this one. For some reason,I had a hard time staying focused for the first several chapters and I think it took away from my enjoyment of the repartée between the characters, which I remember being my favorite part in the previous books.

Fantastic, impressive, imaginative

Rating: 5🌈

“The scream that explodes from within Menace would put a dying banshee to shame.”

So begins Enchanting Exposition, book four in Alice Winters’ marvelous fantasy romance series.

If this is the last in the Demon Magic series, then I’m going to be sad because I absolutely love this universe. But I’ll also be very satisfied because of the way Winters has left the all characters, ok maybe most, happily settled in their lives. All after a wildly terrifying, exhilarating, and emotional adventure that brings the original Geoff narrative to a close.

Geoff, the fiendish mage whose diabolical plans is at the very heart of so much misery and death, will be the basis for much of the story here. The author weaves in all the many painful backgrounds of the characters , established beings and new characters, so that this series arc can finally end. It’s powerful, imaginative, certainly has the hallmarks of the Winters’ take with humor and terror intermixed, along with a great deal of romance and love. Not just between Havoc and Miles. That’s front and center, and totally entertaining.

What else is outright hilarious? Menace and his reactions to Cottontuff. More , love this.
And Marco. Somehow, Marco (my beauty is my contribution) and Lachlan’s developing relationship is everything this book. Along with Evan, Etienne, Dyame combo, even Nicco. Not sure who else I’ve left out, someone I’m sure. Everyone showed up and it was absolutely scarily splendid!

We get a great new character and I’d really love to see more of him . There’s an interesting dynamic we’re left with that needs to be explored.

Miles and Havoc? Happy! So so happy.

Enchanting Exposition (Demon Magic Book 4) by Alice Winters is a must read and fabulous book. It’s a definite recommend in a series I deeply enjoyed. Read them all!

Okay so a few things need to be said here.

1. This book series has to this day the single best cat in literature. I will die on this hill.
2. I haven't finished a series consecutively often. But this is one of the few. I feel like this should mean something. Out of the 24 book series I've put on pause in the last 2 years, this is one of the ones I finished. This means it's good. Like, GOOD GOOD.

Part of my enjoyment may have something to do with the fact that the characters are somewhat zany at times and I laughed out loud a lot. Even the serious times didn't make me feel like I got mood whiplash. It was just well paced all around.

Just, A+ , round of applause everything is wonderful. Here's the meta, is you're still curious.

On a scale of 1-5
[Urban Romantasy, MM, comedy, explicit]
Spice (amount): 🔥🔥 (not a lot. Trust me when i say it's not necessary)
--------------------------------
Execution:
Story: 📚📚📚📚📕 (4.5 books. It's involved. It's got a big arc. There's a lot happening and it's engrossing.)
Characters: 🧙🧙🧙🧙🧙 (5/5 mages. The characters are a-mazing. A-mageing? Truly entertaining and with depth.)
Writing: 🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️ (5 gold plated pens. Beautifully done. Great execution on everything done)
Pacing: 🕰️🕰️🕰️🕰️🕰️ (5/5. Well paced, i devoured it. It made me feel like it was too short. I wanted more😟 )
Comedy: 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭 (5 Comedy (and tragedy) masks. Great comedic timing and no comedy to seriousness emotional whiplash)
Demon portrayal: 😈😈😈😈 (4 cheeky devils. Look not my favourite. But this is a 'taste' based thing)
Spice (execution): 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Well written. This didn't feel like a love story that needed it, but it was present.)
Nakedness: 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 (WHY IS THERE SO MANY NAKED PEOPLE?!?!?)
Cats: 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ (5/5 Kitties. A standing ovation please for the felines of this series!)
TOTAL: 5/5 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
