Ronald M. Ramzi, MD, delves into the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the healthcare landscape. The book does venture into the realm of conjecture, but gives us an idea of how AI in healthcare can alter business investments within the industry, along with economic growth, which is just a couple of examples of what this book delves into. The use of real-world examples means that anyone can read and understand this book, and being someone who is not very knowledgeable of AI and the subject of healthcare, and read the book out of curiosity, I found it extremely interesting and easy to understand.

It was the most unusual read for me. I picked this book because its title suggested related content to "Artificial Intelligence," which is one of the most talked-about features nowadays. The title of the book suggests the group of perfect readers for this book. But its significance is not limited to this particular section.

I kept looking for a good book based on the significance of AI in different fields to know its impacts in various scenarios. With emerging technology, we need to upgrade ourselves and learn new techniques to keep us updated. AI has definitely made our lives and work easier, and we need to understand its significance in different sectors to get more of its benefits.

It is a must-read for healthcare professionals, researchers, investors, entrepreneurs, medical and nursing students, and those building or designing systems for the commercial marketplace, as it will act as a perfect guide. Although the content is technical, it is written in layman's terms to make it more reader-friendly. It is ideal for people who want to know the impacts of AI in healthcare.

‘AI…making the practice of medicine more effective and efficient…in screening, diagnosis, therapeutics and administration’

New York author Dr. Ronald Razmi earned his medical degree and training at the Mayo Clinic and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and is both a cardiologist and the co-founder of Zoi Capital – a firm that invests in the application of AI in healthcare. Given those credentials it is no wonder that this excellent book places before the public the possibilities and potentials of Artificial Intelligence that are rapidly becoming realities! Dr. Razmi is also known for his book THE HANDBOOK OF CARDIOVASCULAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING.

One of the many reasons this book is important is Dr. Razmi’s ability to make scientific information accessible to a wide audience, eager to understand the possibilities of AI in healthcare. With a fascinating history of AI dating back 80 years, he defines AI – ‘The term AI is used to refer to a range of technologies that can be combined in different ways to sense, comprehend, and act, as well as to learn from experience and adapt over time’ – and adds ‘cognitive computing, an approach that uses computers to simulate human understanding, reasoning, and thought processing.’ With that degree of communication, enhanced by excellent illustrations, Dr. Razmi explains ‘The ability of AI to recognize objects has improved markedly to the point where the best systems new exceed human performance.’ He offers how AI is useful in all branches of medicine, radiology to oncology, both in office and in remote monitoring.

The business case for AI in healthcare is presented at book’s end, providing accurate guidelines for creating companies that offer health AI to physicians, hospitals, and healthcare organizations. This is an invaluable book not only for healthcare providers, but also for those interested in discovering the impact of AI on our health and lives. Highly recommended.

AI Doctor by Ronald M. Ramzi is an intense read that takes a moment to digest. He begins with historical moments as AI evolves. Realizing the large data entry was just as important as the algorithm became a hunt for more data to input. By using and comparing data, we get technology used in the medical world to find abnormalities within our bodies. This improves our chances of correcting problems a doctor may not have found without it. We have become accustomed to MRI imaging, but this is just the tip of what AI is doing and quite frankly, primitive to where AI is going. The author adding charts and graphs to this book allows the reader to visualize the importance and growth we have made throughout the years. I would recommend this book to those approaching the medical field to understand where this tool is taking healthcare.

I've worked on similar books in various business sectors; AI is rapidly becoming a hot topic in nonfiction. Healthcare has always felt like an excellent implementation of growing tech, and Razmi does a great job of highlighting the benefits AI and other similar technologies have on medical science.

Razmi explains some standard terms to help demystify more complex AI terms and analytical techniques. One of the most significant and exciting parts of this book is that he dedicates a whole chapter to the complications and barriers of AI in healthcare.

I spend a lot of time reading books, and the increasing commonality of AI outside of sci-fi almost makes me roll my eyes when I see a new nonfiction book on the topic, but Razmi is a breath of fresh air. If you're in the medical field or just interested in AI progression, you should check this out!
