These men are absolutely dating and I can't be convinced otherwise.

A Delicious in Dungeon rip-off, but make it cute slice of life with no impact on the plot. Very enjoyable!

I LOVED THIS!!!

I will say do not read this when you're hungry cause now I'm starving lol

I loved the way this was written!! it's a fun little cookbook but manga style and I think that's just such a genius idea.

Hopefully one day I'll be brave enough to tackle one of the recipes in here!

great little read!! especially if you're already a Witch Hat Atelier fan!

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review!!

Shockingly good for a cookbook, though I shouldn't be surprised.

This isn't just a plain cookbook with some splash pages of character art here and there as you browse through recipes. Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen uses the characters to great effect, essentially creating a little slice of life volume with the characters we already love as they cook and bake and create gorgeous looking food. Most of the fantasy ingredients have real world versions, and the recipes look delicious.

Shirahama's art is astounding, as always - no surprise there.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read this!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this manga. The illustrations, the art looks good and the story is fun to read. There’s less to no unnecessary drama and thank the author for no unwelcome romance in the first volume.

If you are someone who loves reading about food/cooking with some witchy content, you will absolutely adore this manga. The characters (both adult and younger ones) are genuinely amazing. Looking forward for the next volume!

Thank you, Kodansha Comics, for the advance reading copy.

I love the main series so much that I might as well take a look at the (*checks notes*) cooking spin-off.

CAWPILE rating: 7.5/10
STAR rating: ★★★★

Characters are just as charming and endearing as always, but there isn't much Main Plot Stuff™ happening in these - it's like a cutesie, domestic cooking spin-off. Very chill, very adorable; would recommend if you've read + enjoy the main series.

Qifrey is a good dad.

This was cute but not much plot and a little reptative. Was nice to spend some more time with Quifrey and Olruggio though

I hate cooking but love watching people prepare food, and I love two weary good hearted dudes caring for their many adopted daughters but I hate too much plot, so this was perfect hehe. nothing happens and I could never cook this shit in a million years, 10/10 (:

A readable, sweet, and perfectly cromulent entry in the cookbook manga genre (with some strong smoldering subtext). I haven't read the original series but this made me want to.

tl;dr
A pleasant and beautifully illustrated food manga with low plot and high food value. Includes recipes!

Thoughts
Even though this is a spinoff, there's negligible plot going on in here, so if you haven't read Witch Hat Atelier, you won't be that confused about what's going on. Hardcore fans hoping for more story might be disappointed, because this is, as it turns out, basically a really well illustrated cookbook. Art is very appealing with a cozy fantasy feel to it and some cool character designs. The food also looks incredibly good, and thankfully we get recipes as well. Of note, the recipes are all fairly simple, but I'd hesitate to call them "easy." Things like fried foods and custards have the potential to go wrong, and beginner cooks might find some of the recipes a challenge. That said, I wouldn't call any of these recipes too complex either, so this set of recipes would work really well for anyone looking to try something a little more ambitious without having to spend more money on extra kitchen tools or pricier ingredients. But if you're not here for the recipes, that's fine too! It's a pleasant book, entirely in line with the usual iyashikei food manga genre, great for anyone looking for a relaxing, low stakes read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for a review copy! All thoughts in this review are my own.

Meh.

No plot, just recipes made by witches, with strange ingredients and a dash of magic. Wholesome and beautiful art as usual for the Witch Hat World.

Definitely for those who love food in anime/manga. I had fun with this silly little slice of life.

I received this one from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I still need to read this whole series, I read volume 1 last year and was very much charmed by the manga. However I haven’t had the time to continue on. So imagine my delight when I saw this book pop up on Netgalley! I just love cooking. I love the original series. I needed this one!

In this delightful and yummy manga we have 10 chapters with each of them a recipe! And you will get hungry! Plus, while some basic knowledge of the world/characters is handy, you don’t need to know all of the ins and outs, so even for me a girl who just read one volume, it is fine! And that made me happy! I loved that it wasn’t just Qifrey who was making food, we also see Olruggio making some delicious snacks, and one or two times get to see the girls make something or help along. The cooking was a lot of fun to watch, it definitely was magical next to very yummy. I loved seeing these two guys experiment with foods, make something fab for the girls (or for themselves in the case of when they got drunk on cocktails, haha). The recipes aren’t even that hard for most. OK, some require a bit more technique, but for most it is easy to follow along. I was looking forward to each new recipe + also see them travel at times to get stuff.

Plus, the reactions to the food, mostly the girls who got some yummy breakfast/lunch/dinner was just so adorable and fun. That really makes a cooking manga perfect for me. Seeing the reactions of those for who the food is made.

It was also fun getting to know the characters a bit more, see their relationships, see their likes and dislikes.

And I just love the art! It is such a fun and pretty style~

On that note, I was kinda like, yeah, these recipes are great but we don’t really have honeytree nectar, or blaze beans, or prism lemons (though I would want one). Thankfully, at the end of this volume there are real life substitutes that you can replace the Witch Hat Atelier world foods with. So now you can actually make all these recipes and BOY I am going to be trying some of them out. My stomach is already hungry. Or that may be because it is almost lunch time when I write this, haha.

So all in all, I really enjoyed this one and had oodles of fun with it! I hope that there will be many more volumes of this one with fun stories + recipes. I would recommend it to all!

This is a manga story where the two protagonists create sizzling magic in the kitchen. Most of the story and descriptions revolve around creating food, detailed recipes and catching the essence of enjoying wholesome food.

The most loveable part for me was not the story or the character, but the graphics. They were wonderful and after a bit of reading, I got to know that the artist is none other than @mome_kamo who is also famous for her Marvel Comic covers. The book is fairly short and can be easily read in a single sitting.

Thank you @netgalley @kodanshamanga for the e-ARC
