Eloree & Ardimus

Rate this book
Once upon a time, there was no time, for Ardimus knew nothing of days or weeks, months or years. He had been content until a beautiful creature mistakenly happened into his cave and taught him about loneliness. Then, for a short while, time became a monster Ardimus could not ignore. Until he found a way to let go, and time no longer had any power over him.

Such a wholesome and quick read! I wish the story would have been longer and concentrated more on world building because it has a really interesting concept.
Overall the story has such great potential!!

I don't think I am spoiling anything.
So, all of Ardimus' life (however long that is), was naked, could not speak, and had no friends but the fish. He seemed fine with it.
Had no recollection of time--Sunday, Monday, etc. Must be nice.
Then a butterfly shows up in his life and changes all of that.
He knows words like water, fish, village, and home, but he doesn't say "home" until she arrives.
He was upset when she left to find her village. He destroyed his bed.
She was the only talking friend he had. Poor guy. She wanted him to go to her village.
Dun dun dun.

It is an okay story. I only got it because it was short and PDF.
Ended too abruptly.
According to the author; Eloree and Ardimus will return in the upcoming
novel THE TRINKET TRADER 2024. You COULD find him on Instagram if you had it, which I don't.

Overall, I enjoyed this. I do want to know more about the world and Eloree. I loved the descriptions of Ardimus's life before.

I don't know that I would classify this tale as Cozy. It certainly starts that way, then gets pretty dark in the last few pages. Content warnings would have been nice because I did not expect the main character to

Where has this author been hiding? I love the world he has created in this short story and full-length book The Tinker & The Witch. I can't recommend it enough. This is a simple story that is very emotionally evocative. You become completely absorbed into Ardimus' experience. The idea is that a being was trapped in a cave with no way out long ago (as a child), and has grown up there, never realizing there is more than the cave. Then another being falls into the cave and his worldview is upended.

A short and interesting character story where Eloree and Ardimus meet in a cave but it doesn't really go into much detail about how either of them ended up in the cave. A bit is mentioned almost like an after-thought so I am hoping that it is better explained in the next book.
All in all, it sounds like it could be an interesting series. 🤔

A beginning

This is more of a moment - very short; more an introduction to a character than a story as such. But it launches a beginning that can then go anywhere. The writing is good.

enjoyable. thought provoking

This short story was interesting. I highlighted a few sections that were thought provoking. Without giving away spoilers, it shines a light on living in the darkness and being shone the light. What it can do to you.

Eloree & Ardimus by G J Daily
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A peaceful short story of an isolated cave creature who rescues an injured winged woman. This story had beautiful descriptions and a calming vibe, and I’m interested to see what’s next in this world.

This is not long enough to review, or to count as a book I've read. I only read it as an introduction to The Tinker and the Witch.

Kids enjoyed it. Basically Smeagol playing with a butterfly. Good for a short read to bulk the reading goal.

Very short

Short story introducing some characters for an upcoming book. I am looking forward to the full book. I want to know Ardimus more.

I had no idea it was barely 20 pages when I started it, it's an interesting 1st chapter to a bigger story. But by its own is lacking.

Introduction to more? I was drawn to this after reading The Tinker and the Witch, l enjoyed it and wanted more, I did not expect this to be so short. I hoped for more.
