‘Walk With Us’ is the next book in the wonderful ‘Welcome to Country’ series. This book starts with a child named Harvey sharing the acknowledgement of country with his Mum at the dinner table. This interaction holds great importance as Harvey’s mum takes genuine interest in this and seeks to learn more about it as she wasn’t taught that when she was younger.

After this, Mum is inspired to learn more and connect with our First Nations People so she takes Harvey on a guided tour of Cammeraygal land with Uncle Boris. Through this walk they learn about the ancestors, healing using nature, safe plants, canoe trees and Garangal — a place for healing and ceremonies.

‘Walk With Us’ shows that it is never too late to learn and connect with our First Nations People and embodies a sense of connectedness and community. It highlights the importance of learning about the Country where you live and how easy it can be to learn more.

A very important book for readers both young and old.

Recommended for any home or classroom library. RRP $24.99

🧠 Teaching Point:
OUR COUNTRY — This book would be ideal to introduce a sequence of learning about the indigenous connection to your local area. This could lead to research about it and then if possible, going on a guided tour to learn more about it.
