What do you get when you mix a devastatingly handsome hockey player who doesn’t do casual with a blonde bombshell cheerleader who doesn’t do serious?

I was supposed to be taking the summer off from dating. . . and flirting. . . and men in general. A cleanse. It sounded great in theory. But theory went out the window when my own personal kryptonite sat on the barstool next to mine.

Six feet, five inches of stacked muscle and chiseled features, he exuded a cocky confidence that was hard to miss and even harder to resist. This man was delectable. Like a decadent piece of chocolate cake, tempting me to indulge.

And that was before I knew how he tasted.

The rules were simple:
One night.
No names.
No strings.

Until my handsome stranger turned out to be the hot-as-sin star forward for the Philadelphia Revolution hockey team. A single dad with two adorable kids who tug at my heart strings, and a family almost as obnoxious as my own.

But Cross Wilder isn’t looking for a hookup.
And I’m not looking for a fairytale.
The question is. . . do I have a choice?

Everly (23) and Cross (31) met one night at a bar, where she asked him to be her pretend boyfriend for five minutes after seeing her ex. Then sparks fly, and next thing you know, they're mauling one another in her cousin's office. 😂 They exchange numbers and have been texting for the last two months, I think, before they meet again.

She doesn't date, and he's a relationship type of guy. But for some reason, Everly intrigues Cross, and he's willing to make it work because he knows she's worth it.

This was a fast burn that turned into a slow burn. They did spend time together, but it was minimal, and most of it was surrounded by their families. The relationship progressed way too fast for my liking. And honestly, I didn't know when or how they fell in love. I was caught off guard and confused when Cross suddenly dropped the love bomb—I didn't expect it at all. But it seems that they were on the same page; it just took Evie awhile to say it because she's afraid of her own feelings.

Cross was a steady guy, patient, understanding, reliable, and supportive. He's a good son, brother, and father, and I love that he never gave up on Evie when she was being indecisive. He just waits for her to calm down and realize things on her own without pressuring her. He said it so himself; he's going to wait, and if he has to, he'll chase her and lead her back home to him and his kids. 🤭

As for Everly, she's a badass; this girl is a boss babe and so freaking talented. She's a protective, supportive, and loving person. Anyone will be lucky to have her in their corner. I admire her strength for getting through what happened to her and for finding the courage to speak about it. I know it wasn't an easy decision to do, but I'm glad that she did the right thing.

As for the wishy-washy attitude, she wasn't really like this before. But what happened to her drove her to keep people at arm's length, aside from her family, and she thought this thinking would protect her from anyone who wanted to take advantage of her. But I'm glad that she took the leap of faith and stayed with Cross, and that she never let her fear ruin something precious in her life.

I'm testy about single-dad romance, but I really like the kids here, and they're so adorable. I love Cross's relationship with his kids, and I love how they accepted Evie into their circle. Totally cute family moments.

As for the side characters, dear God, they're too many to keep track of. It was overwhelming, and this is really an insane, huge family. 😂 But I adore that these people are welcoming of Cross and his family, and they never made them feel like outsiders.

Overall, I did enjoy it, but I felt that everything happened so fast. The MCs jump from strangers to textmates to fwb to having a relationship, then eventually getting married. Maybe because this was also short? Idk. Also, at times, I feel like their connection wasn't that palpable, and it was kind of difficult to get into the story if the MCs didn't have off-the-charts chemistry, at least to me. Anyway, this might be a me problem, but nonetheless, it was still a good story.

This book was incredible good.
Everly and Cross are like fire together, they fit so good with each other and with their families.
Everly became one of my favourite FMC, she is feisty, she´s not scared of being herself nad an independent woman. The way that she acts and the way that she is was something great to see.
Cross is a prottective male who just wants to take care of the people that he loves, and that is something that made me fall in love with him.
Both of them together were like watching soulmates start falling in love, it was something that i wish i could read again for the first time.

Tropes:
- Age gap
- Single dad
- One night stand
- Hockey romance
- Found family

Another 5 star read from Bella Matthew’s but honesty it deserves way more than just 5! My heart is so happy and full! I absolutely devoured this story and want more!

Cross and Everly are straight fire! These two hit it off immediately and I love that Cross isnt just a man of his word but a man who takes action! He becomes the strength Everly needs! I loved their attraction but also the fact that they were more than just physical. They took time to get to know who each other is at every level! My gosh the way Cross holds her is just so dang beautiful! Every woman needs a Cross Wilder!

This book is an emotional one but one I absolutely loved because well I get it! I have always loved Everly’s take no prisoner attitude and that she speaks her mind but after reading her story I love her even more because I get her. I get her walls and why she’s so guarded. I wanted more of these two and I hope to see more of them in future books!

Bella is a newer author to me & let me tell you, I might just be her new biggest fan 👏🏼 I am absolutely LOVING this new series. I can’t wait to go back & read the rest of her backlist!

The Wildcat is book 2 in the Playing to Win Series, following Everly Sinclair & Cross Wilder who unexpectedly meet at the bar one night and end up hooking up. Cross is immediately smitten with Everly, but Everly is basically allergic to relationships — especially one with a professional athlete. So when she finds out Cross plays for the local NHL team, she’s very hesitant to continue to see him. But what happens when she starts to fall for the hot single dad who isn’t giving up so easily…

“You’re going to destroy me, Cross Wilder.”
“I’m pretty sure you’re going to save me, baby.”

✨Age Gap (8 years)
✨Single Dad
✨Hockey Romance
✨Found Family
✨One Night Stand

Everly Sinclair is taking a break from dating and flirting for the summer and is celebrating her birthday alone in a bar, until she meets Cross Wilder. Cross is everything she could ever want for a night of fun, so they do just that. No names, no strings, no attachment. Everly decides to play “Cinderella” and make Cross find her, that is if he wants her. Weeks later, she realizes who Cross Wilder truly is: single father with two adorable kids and professional NFL for the Philadelphia Revolution. Everly doesn’t do relationships, especially after the last time she dated an athlete. Cross doesn’t do one night stands and keeps chasing after Everly until she can finally realize he isn’t like the rest.

Well, here we are. Another masterpiece written by the beautiful Bella Matthews. This book must be laced with something addictive because I could NOT stop reading. I finished this book in one day. One freakin’ day. From beginning to end, I was hooked. I loved every single moment of this book.

Everly is a feisty, strong, fun, independent woman who has a dream of having her own clothing line. Cross is an over-protective, alpha male who does anything and everything he can for the people he loves. I was obsessed with the teasing and the tension between Everly and Cross—Everly liked to flirt, and Cross gave it right back to her, which made this book ten times more fun to read.

This book has made me realize how much of a sucker I am for single parent romances, because the way Everly bonded with both Kerrigan & Jax, Cross’s children, made my heart melt. The way Kerrigan opened up to Everly was the absolute sweetest thing to read and I was tearing up through most of those scenes. I’m also still just as obsessed with the found family aspect in this series. The way everyone is so close and treats each other like one big family is so beautiful. I love Everly and Grace’s relationship and the bond they have, the way Lindy offered her help with Everly was incredibly sweet, and how the girls stepped up for Everly to have her moment on showing her work. Absolutely precious.

Thanks again to Bella Matthews for the opportunity to read this ARC. I’m obsessed with your work and I can’t wait to see where this series goes!! ❤️❤️

5/5⭐️ ——arc review——

The Wildcat has such a cute and fluffy romance. I swooned so much during Cross’s pov chapters. If you want a book that doesn’t have a lot of angst, but a bunch of cute fluffy scenes, then this book is for you.

Everly is scared to commit to a relationship because of her ex, so when she meets Cross, a single dad and a famous hockey player, she tries to run. But Cross continues to pursue her and doesn’t give up on her. Everly is so cute when Cross’s kids! I adore Kerrigan and Jax! I just LOVE single dad romances.

I really enjoyed how both of them didn’t want to play games. There was no room for miscommunication and it was refreshing. I really want to read another book like this. It was basically perfection. They were so mature and knew what they wanted and what they didn’t because of the heartbreak from their past relationship.

I flew through this book!! Quick and fun read with such good spice 🥵

I instantly loved Cross and Everly right from the first chapter! Cross is the ultimate HOCKEY DADDY 😅 I loved how he is this big family guy with an even bigger heart. Everly is this fierce and confident woman but with a past that has her putting guards up and staying away from any relationships especially ones with professional athletes

I can’t stop reading this series, SO ADDICTING! 😍

Thank you Bella Matthew’s and her team for sending me an ARC copy of ‘the wildcat’ in exchange for my honest review.

This is a second generation series which I wasn’t initially aware of but the book can be read a a standalone, though I recommend reading the others because although understandable I got a bit confused with all the extra side characters names since I never read the previous books. Everly has a huge family lol and lots of friends to try and remember who is who.

This is a single dad, age gap hockey romance and despite being quite a big fan of sport romances this is actually my first ever single dad book and I actually enjoyed the trope more than I thought I would have. Cross is a professional single dad hockey player who has an adorable toddler Kerrigan, and a seven month old Jax and it was very wholesome and cute seeing in particular Everly and Kerrigan bond🥺

This was quite a quick read and good for if you just want a cute little romance book with not much drama and no 3rd act breakup! Both main characters I thought was written well and I enjoyed seeing the scenes with Cross and his family it was all very sweet.

TW: there is a mention of previous sexual assault

Tropes:
🏒 hockey romance
❤️ the mfc is a cheerleader for a professional football team
🏒 age gap (8 years. Everly is 23 and Cross is 31 which I didn’t mind I’m not usually an age gap fan when it’s like a freshly turned 18 year old so this was fine for me to read)
❤️ found family
🏒 HEA
❤️ no 3rd act break up
🏒 single dad

Everly is out a the bar to celebrate her birthday alone, as her friends and family are all away. She has sworn off relationships and men, after a bad ex. While at the bar, she meets Cross, with whom she feels instant chemistry. What happens is an intense night of fun with no names and no strings attached. She discovers weeks later, that he is Cross Wilder, a hockey player for the Philadelphia Revolution, and a single dad to two. The problem is, she doesn't do serious and he doesn't do no strings attached. Everly feels drawn to Cross, but she doesn't know if she can put her heart on the line and experience the pain of heartbreak.

Everly and Cross were fire together. I loved their relationship and banter and could not put this book down.

Everly is a great character. She is strong, hard-headed and gives as good as she can take. She has dreams of her own and will stop at nothing to achieve them. Cross is a fiercely protective man who will do everything he can for those he loves.

I loved the single-parent trope in this too. It was cute how Everly bonded with both Kerrigan and Jax, with those relationships so sweet. I also loved how Everly's family was accepting of Cross being a single dad and there was no drama with that. I thought it was cute that Kerrigan opened up so much to Everly and her family and I loved seeing her come out of her shell.

This book, like all of Bella Matthews's other books, has this great found family aspect. The friendship group and extended family are beautiful and it was wonderful how everyone accepted Cross, his children and even his siblings.

This was a great second book in the series and I look forward to reading more in this interconnected standalone. If you like a hockey romance, with a single dad and a bit of an age gap, this is the book for you! Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Bella Matthews strikes again with another 5 star banger that I devoured in hours! And dare I say this may be the best book in the series?

I have been impatiently awaiting the release of this book after I read The Keeper, which is the first book in the Playing to Win series and this book definitely lived up to my expectations and more! This book is told in the Dual POVs of Cross Wilder and Everly Sinclair. Cross is a pro hockey player and single dad who is looking for a relationship and Everly is a cheerleader who does not do relationships. So how exactly do these two cross paths? The meet one night in a bar, where there is instant attraction the leads to a one night stand.

📚 Book Tropes:
- Single Dad
- One Night Stand
- Age Gap
- He Falls First
- Hockey Player MMC/Cheerleader FMC
- Girl Tribe
- Touch Her & Die
- Found Family

💭 My Thoughts: I am not one to gravitate to the single dad romance trope but I absolutely loved this book. Cross Wilder is exactly who I would have picked for the more spunky and never one to settle Everly. They perfectly balance each other in ways that they both need. I also seriously adored Cross's children especially Kerrigan and the way that they took to Everly. But then to see Everly so easily take over the role of mom was so special to see. Meeting Everly in book 1, I never would have imagined that she would have fallen for a single older dad but this was just perfection!

This is also making me so excited to see the direction that Bella will go for book 3 which is Everly's twin sisters book. So if you are wondering if I would recommend this book, my answer is YES! I actual recommend this whole series. Now you do not need to read The Keeper (book 1 in the Playing to Win series) but I highly recommend it to see the character and world building. So happy reading! I hope you fall I love with Cross and Everly's story as much as I did!

*A huge THANK YOU to Bella Matthews and her team for allowing me the opportunity to read this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review!

Loved Cross and Everly's story.

The Wildcat was a perfectly-paced, romantic sports, romance story that will sweep readers right off their feet.

I loved how things were sizzling hot from the get-g0 but it wasn't all physical. I truly enjoyed that we got to see these two get to know one another on a deeper level. The amount of respect Cross has for Everly and vice-versa, it just added to their already insane chemistry.

As perfectly paced as this was, I blew through the story in no time. It was definitely a page-turner and kept me engaged the entire time.

Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good romance.

She is the girl that doesn't do relationships, and he is the hot hokey player that gives anything for his children. They meet at a bar and have a one-night stand. But after that night full of passion and smut, they can't stop thinking about each other.

Their story actually starts after the night together. Cross is madly attracted to Every, and he needs to spend more time with her. He wants to know that funny, gorgeous girl. Even though Every only wants to have fun, she is really tempted to get to know Cross. Thanks to him, they start exploring their feelings together...feelings that lead to love. I can definitely say that Cross never gave up on her and his determination was really strong. After all, when you find your true love, you have to fight for it.

The book wasn't long and the story was fast-paced, which I loved. I prefer my books being normal size when it comes to the page count.

Overall, to me, Every and Cross were a very cute couple and I enjoyed reading their love story.

“𝘐’𝘮 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺.”

I had no idea what awaited me with Everly’s story but the one I read was absolutely amazing beyond words. It’s my girl Bella though, so that’s no surprise. Everly’s the fun and fearless twin with a hidden vulnerability. Her heart was so kind. I learned so much about what made her the person she was, the reason behind why her walls were up when it came to love and it broke my heart. Watching her fully embrace the badass woman she was and get the justice she more than deserved made my heart soar. Her bond with Kerrigan and Jax was so heartwarmingly sweet. I seriously just adored her with everything in me.

“𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘧𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”

My man, my man, my man…oh Mr. Cross Wilder yall. I love me a man of few words because when he talks, you know he’s really saying something. And that deliciously filthy mouth was the thing wet dreams are made of. My guy fell first and fell hard, one thing he knew was that Everly would be his and he was going to do everything in his power to make it happen. It was so adorably sexy and swoony all at once.

“𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙄’𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪.”
“𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰.”

This second gen, age-gap, single dad, sports romance abundantly full of found family vibes had my heart on lock from beginning to end. I, at times, would force myself to stop reading just to prolong getting to that dreadful last page.

It’s such a struggle to write reviews for Bella Matthews’ books. Coming up with words to describe just how freaking incredible the story was is hard because nothing ever seems adequate. With each book written, my heart expands a little more to let those beloved characters in where they’ll live forever. Of course, without a doubt Everly and Cross are no exception!

“𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺. 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦. 𝘛𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘳.”

Soft DNF on this one.
This has two tropes I can’t stand.
When the main characters hook up for a one night stand in the first chapter. (Kills the tension)
And when one character hates relationships and refuses to admit they are in one. It’s a boring nonsense way to add conflict and it’s always the source of a lazy third act break up.

Maybe this gets better? Maybe I’m wrong and I’ll pick it up again. But a few chapters in and I’m not hooked.
They had a one night stand. They are both single and attractive. The only conflict on the horizon is the FMC doesn’t ‘do’ relationships. Pass.

This is my first book by this author, and I will definitely have to think about if I will be picking up another book by them.

The premise of this story was what drew me in, but unfortunately it was the execution that caused this book to flop in my opinion.

These characters are so PAINFULLY stereotypically gendered it’s not funny. Everything about him was tall, dark, handsome, big, hard, tough, … you know where I am going with this. Meanwhile everything about her was small, delicate, soft, curvy, short, dainty, … again you get the point. I don’t know how to explain it but this was so stereotypically predictable I’d laugh if it wasn’t so bad.

And the actual writing, I don’t know how else to describe it other than the biggest cringefest

You’re telling me that 2-3 months you already love (and you tell her) this girl, which you weren’t even physically seeing this girl for two of those months? Most of their compatibility is banking on the physical attraction and chemistry they have for one another that was practically instantaneous. And I mean that literally. It was chapter 1. They’ve had little time to even get to know each other.

This brings me to my other issue, there were like 20 other side characters and they were around A LOT. And they were all interconnected, whether they were family or long time friends, “this person was friends with this person and that person turned out to be the sibling of the love interest, and the whole world is so small and quirky” (an exaggeration, a small one but still).

Everything goes by so quickly, they meet, they have time away from each other, they meet again, and within a few days/weeks they’re dating or something? Even with the hesitation of the FMC because she “just doesn’t do serious or relationships” and yet there’s no back and forth, she says that then they’re dating pretty soon after. After that it could be a few days or a few weeks there’s an engagement and it all felt very whiplashy.

I think I was having a great time up until right before their “argument” I hesitate to call it a conflict or a third act breakup because it happens and then its resolved right in the same chapter. But I found it unnecessary to even have this conflict to begin with BUT IF YOU’RE GOING TO RESOLVE IT A PARAGRAPH LATER, THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT?

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve got anything positive to say tbh. 1.5 stars rounded down for GR.

This pains me to say but this was not it. This book went by so fast, by the time the characters said I love you I felt they hadn’t gone through anything… also you’re telling me. 23 year olds parents had no issue with this guy having TWO kids… the assault, the marriage, engagement everything was so fast and just idk this book was a huge disappointment especially after the keeper. Nothing was truly touched on, except how she would run… which she never really did so idk why we kept having to bring that up just can’t say anything good about it

I read this bc I saw single dad that doesn’t typically have ONS (😱) which I guess technically was true however he just broke up with the mother of his children (3 years & 5 months) a few months prior so…. not really what I had in mind. They went from barely in a relationship to engaged in like 2.5 seconds. I don’t think I’ll read more from this author because the amount of side characters is insane and I couldn’t keep track of who was who

This book had me on my knees. I devoured it cause I couldn't put it down. Cross and Everly had me on a chokehold. I adored them, and each moment they shared. Their love flourished sp beautifully throughout the book. You saw these two people open up and let themselves fall in love with each other. Everly was truly such an incredible woman. Hardworking, caring, sassy, and loving. I loved how straightforward she was and how she stood her own ground. She loved with all her heart, and she didn't let her past define her. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart. Cross was EVERYTHING!! I wanted this man to be real so bad. He was such a perfect father, and to see him be everything his kid needed was so beautiful. You could feel his love for them, and I truly cried seeing how everything he did was for them. Cross loved with all his heart and finding Everly meant that he found his other half. Each of their moment holds a special place in my heart. The way these two found comfort and understanding in each other. They could be themselves and that's how I knew they were meant to be. Everly loving and caring as a mother for Cross' kids had me sobbing cause that was so cute and everything I needed. The epilogue was truly perfect and what these two people deserved!

#WildSin for the win 🥰

Once again, Bella has written a story that immediately has you invested. There's just something about her characters that keep you intrigued - I love that this second Gen and I really love catching up with the parents!

Cross is this big guy, he's a hot hockey player but he's also a dad to two little'uns and gives of serious DILF vibes!! He's a serious guy, he knows what's important in life and looks after it and when he decides Everly is one of those important things, there's no getting away!

They may have chemistry but it goes deeper than that, these two just fit, they're two halves and I absolutely love that there was no major angst. This is a story of a single dad and a single woman getting together and getting their happy ever happy - I loved it.

I say this every.single.time but damn!!  cross is my favorite, that man is dominant but loving, protective but gives space.

Once I picked up this book I could not put it down, every single book that bella writes has the perfect book boyfriend.

Everly has sworn off dating and never again an athlete until this big gorgeous man comes into her life.

Cross has his hands full and a complicated life but is willing to juggle it all for her.

My God my poor heart, Its difficult for me to put into words how much I loved this book, and I generally don't have that issue.

Read it...read them alllll!!!

The Wildcat is Bella Matthews new book in her Playing to Win series. While it is not required to read the other books in this world, there are a lot of characters to keep separated and reading their books would help you keep them separated.

Cross and Everly met in a bar and instantly connect. A quickie in the manager's office later, Everly leaves Cross with a phone number and a shoe. (like Cinderella)

Cross is a recent single parent and is cautious to bring anyone into his kids lives. Everly has been burned in the past and is unsure what she is looking for. Cross needs to decide if he is willing to add Everly into their lives and Everly needs to decide if she's willing to take a chance on him.

The moments between Everly and Cross's kids are precious. I loved the moments where Cross and Everly are able to sneak away and make time for each other.

Tropes:
- hockey
- single dad
- ONS
- found family
- age gap

I’m never trusting any book I see recommended on social media ever again

When I said I was reading mindless romances this week this is what I meant so nobody judge me BUT this book is also what sends me back to real books because it was terrible! Why are there so many characters!!!!! And why do they all refer to each other by their relationship (I.e little brother, little cousin) nobody actually says that??????

Also I’m sorry but any book where they meet and get married within months I am skeptical I just can’t
OMG I FORGOT TO ADD THAT HE GOT A TATTOO FOR HER LIKE 1 NONTH IN????

I’m going to keep editing this when I remember things I hated about this book but also the dialogue is terrible

Review: This series is slowly becoming a favorite with how cute and short they are. They are so easy and quick to read; this one was no different. Evie and Cross had such a simple meet-cute and developed a real-life relationship, and while both of them had their trust issues, they could talk them out, work with each other, and be super supportive, which I adored reading. The final ~50 pages didn't feel necessary to the plot, and I wish that were handled differently.

Holy hockey player,  his man, and a hands-on dad to his kiddos! Give me Daddy Cross Wilder!

I have fallen hard for Bella Matthews books!   They are fun,  quick, and joy to read!

Everly and Cross's story was so good!   Cross wasn't the bad boy hockey player,  but the quiet,  get the job done kind of man!

Everly was our wildcard, and she was everything I hope my kids to be one day!   Strong, confident,  loving, and hardworking!

This story was an absolute joy to read!   I loved it, and I can't wait to see what Bella Matthews gives us next!

Sport romance tropes are sometimes hard for me to truly enjoy but Bella Matthew’s never disappoints. This book follows Everly and Cross. I absolutely love Everly and her heart her conflict of deciding whether or not she should be with Cross. I fell in love with Cross and his persistence and his love for Everly and his own family. Amazing book from start to finish.
