This cover! That's it. That's the review.

Lol no but the cover alone gets 5 stars along with side by side panels with get with Toji and Maki added in this volume. However Gege - there better be a point with throwing in all of these crazy new characters. I miss the gang! 😞 Overall 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟!

I see a lot of people criticising the sakurajima colony arc but I personally loved it.

It was really important for Maki to have the second phase of her 'transformation' understanding the capabilities of her new body and the fact that the heavenly restriction doesn't put her on par with other jujutsu sorcerers, she's in her own league and there are things only she can do.

A lot of people say things like 'This is just repetition Maki already got her power up' but that is NOT the point of this arc.

The perfect preparation arc was the physical part of the transformation (and it was a very traumatic experience for her) and this arc was more about giving her the space to understand her new body and have the shift in mindset that she needed to unlock her full potential.

This manga often emphasises how power isn't just about raw strength and talent but about the mindset. Like in sendai colony arc when Yuta is told he will reach his limit because he's too sweet and the ones that reach great power have an overwhelming sense of self. It's almost like only thing hindering Maki was her own mind and now she's free.

It was nice seeing her have mentor figures for once even if it was the random sumo and katana dudes. That also shows a shift in her mindset because she has never accepted help from anyone before and she needed it.

Toji was the first person she'd ever seen that was like her, when she saw Toji in Shibuya she finally had a role model, a level to aspire to. She's reached that level now but I personally think she will surpass Toji.

Also, I have to say I was very happy to see her beat up Naoya again. And I liked the Maki and Kamo team up that was really cool.

I am so happy that Maki finally got a cover as well the pinky promise with Mai in the corner is a beautiful detail!

THIS IS SO FUCKING UNFAIR 😭

Megumi knew it right away when "everything" was going too well. And I fucking knew it when we suddenly transitioned back to Tokyo no.1 colony–I knew I had to prepare myself to something big about my two boys, Yuji and Megumi. God!! I'm so pissed off right now. This isn't how it should be Gege 😭 But, I'm just so fucking glad that no one died in this volume. I swear, I was sobbing earlier when Kamo got a flashback. I was so afraid he's going to die. Color me hysterical, but that's how Nanamin and Nobara died (although with Noba, it's still unofficial. RIGHT?!)

I swore I'd drop JJK right away if I saw Kamo fall cold and dead. But, let's thank Kappa and my old man Daido for helping and building ✨️Maki✨️ up in this volume. For real 😭 that was so satisfying even though my heart was crumbling for fear of losing either of them four.

I love it, Gege. Thank you 🥺

4.5 stars.

“There was no one Maki could call a teacher. It wasn’t that she refused one, or had grown too prideful to accept any. She had simply never considered growing stronger by relying upon someone else.”

Truly, Maki's volumes are the best.

Catching up with her after so long felt amazing and was really cool. The rapid evolution she has had is nothing but fascinating. Plus, the journey she undergoes here was well-deserved, interesting, if a bit convenient, and badass.

While other storylines feel a bit disconnected and convoluted at this point in the story, Maki's remains consistent and straightforward in a very refreshing way that I can't help but appreciate a lot. Time might have passed, but I feel like I always know where we stand when talking about her.

Getting Kamo as her companion in this arc was really cool. They make for surprisingly good contrast, aside from the fact that he is just one of my favorite characters.

Then we have the end of the volume, which is just as full of angst and twisted as I've come to expect from this manga. Dread is the one word that sums up my feelings about the whole thing, but that has been a constant for a long while now.

Without a doubt, this was one of my favorite recent volumes.

“From the moment you collide to the moment you get back in the Dohyo. It all flows into you. It’s as if you could smell the light, or as if you could see the sound. Everything about your opponent, everything about yourself. You can feel it all. And when that happens, the body right in front of your eyes no longer matters, and even winning or losing loses its meaning. That’s what the samurai meant. You could say it’s freedom. And all that is left is just to experience it with your own body.”

June 2023: Maki on the cover?! What a blessing.

January 2024: Every panel that compares Maki to Toji just goes so hard, I can't believe it.

Placeholder for the JJK manga up to chapter 251

So, I fell down the JJK rabbit hole once again after abandoning the manga for almost a year. I finally started watching season 2 last weekend after having no interest in it at all while it aired months ago, and I immediately got reminded of how much I liked the series up until the Culling Games arc started. Naturally, I binged the manga up to the current chapter. I still have no clue what's going on but I always liked JJK more for the vibes and characters than the plot anyways. I'm convinced though that Akutami hates every single of his characters (except for Sukuna) and by the end of the series, everyone will be dead or so miserable that it will come close to being dead.

i’ve been loving the comparisons between toji and maki, she’s such a cool character.

i wasn’t expecting to see naoya again, and definitely not looking like that…he came back just to be defeated by maki once again, like a loser.
also yuji “living it up” while megumi was knocked out? very funny, this was a fun read.

¡¿Y DÓNDE DEMONIOS SIGUE MI NOVIO INUMAKI TOGE?!
