Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.

Before they fall , these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

It’s been a minute since I read a book by this author and I’ve always said she writes like a Kristen Ashley ripoff. And I don’t mean that to be harsh. After all, here I am still reading a book by her. Still true though…in fact, this one felt a lot like Ride Steady. Just not as fleshed fleshed out. And thus not as good.

Regardless. I still enjoyed this well enough. I’ve found that this author works for me in a pinch when I’m in the mood for this brand of romance. I fell off of her after a few personal Until series misses, but maybe I’ll try more from her again in tbe the future. Overall, this felt rushed though.

Tucker and Miranda met under very unusual circumstances—his wife was sleeping with her husband. It should have ended there. Their marriages over, their lives in disarray, and trying to figure out what to do and where to go next. Who knew that the greatest love of their lives would be found in betrayal?

I loved how unorthodox the relationship between Tucker and Miranda was. I loved that through the devastation, they found a connection with each other, a connection that went beyond their common pain. They fell into each other so easily and made this such an amazing read.

The drama from the exes was hilarious, although I'm not sure I was supposed to laugh so hard. I also liked the details given from Tucker's job. It gave a cool dimension to the story that strayed from the romance without taking anything away from it. It just gave me more layers to a character that I had already come to care deeply about.

I only wish I could have had more of this couple building something together because I wanted more time with them. I guess they were so wonderful together that I got greedy!

My favorite type of heroine.
She discovers her husband's cheating and plans the separation in advance by finding an apartment, a job and contacting a lawyer. Kick the cheater's ass out of the house! That's how it's done!
She had experience with her mother always accepting her father's cheating and taking him back and all the heartache and resentment for that.
She doesn't take the cheater back and she moves on beautifully with a more enriching and happy life.
And our hero is cute and a much better man.
My heart was warm and happy reading it.

What a lovely sweet, sexy book

Beautiful Hxh, inside and out
Intense connection with the perfect balance of passion, comfort and reality
A good solid hero - swoon-worthy OTT EVERYTHING. E.ver.ree.thang
A gentle strong quiet gorgeous heroine

No unnecessary drama between the MCs for the sake of drama
No stupid misunderstandings as an excuse for angst

He’s transparent about all his dealings with ow, which is really no dealings because he doesn’t entertain ANY crap from her: no consoling her, no checking to see if she’s ok. Just nothing because he knows what she’s about and can’t be bothered except that she stays away from the h and her son
That’s a no go area as far as he’s concerned
He reminds me of Phil from A White Picket Fence, actually 🤣

A few clichéd tropes that I welcomed because I do so enjoy the stereotypically horrid ow with her stereotypical shenanigans
I would’ve liked more of the undercover case he (FBI) was working on, but as I wasn’t expecting full on suspense/action/mystery, I wasn’t disappointed
There are some minor editing issues which don’t interfere with my enjoyment of the read

It goes like this:
h and om married with a son
H and ow unhappily married - she had a miscarriage 8 months ago
Ow and om cheat on Hxh with each other
Hxh meet and WOW
Hxh divorce om and ow
Hxh can’t stay away from each other
He initially baulks (for all of 5 days LOL) because he thinks she deserves better
The get together and it’s wonderful and new and gentle and exciting and intense and real
He’s busy with his job
She’s busy with her new life and work and her darling bff

Then the ow and om realise they’ve made mistakes
They pull all sorts of shit but our Hxh aren’t having it

“She’s too fucking good for me, but I’m not giving her up, and I’ll fight for us every single day.”

I’m 👆🏼here now and it’s looking like 4 star read for me
BUT
if the author veers off track with a sloppy blow-up between the MCs at the last 3rd before the resolution, I’m going to give this a 1 star. Straight up 1 star.

UPDATE:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 sweet shiny stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
All went well: no unnecessary drama between MCs
He finished his case
Hxh relationship moves forward and they have a solid hea
Epilogue 15 years later includes their kids and I hope we get their stories
Ow and om unfortunately don’t get much comeuppance, though they’re feeling the loss of the Hxh in their lives so that’s good.

This was just okay but overall I found it boring. There was just so much that could have happened and didn't and instead the entire book felt kind of pointless? There were parts that I thought were cute between Miranda and Tucker but they didn't really seem to lead to anything. Even the parts that could have been suspenseful with the mystery/murder plot fell flat for me. And then they were mostly resolved but in a very quick and not exciting way.

Bottom line, the potential was there but for me it never lived up to what it could have been. Also I'd highly recommend reading Until Willow before this one if you want to understand some of the underlying plot that was going on with Tucker and his job. This book didn't do a good job explaining all of that in my opinion and it's still sort of ongoing so I assume his brother Miles will also be getting a book to fully conclude that.

I haven’t read ARR for a while, but I was in the mood for something easy because my RL was my kicking my ass a bit. Her books are easy reads with alphas that are devoted to their girls. They’re typically safe, almost always have some form of OW drama, are on the fluffier side with strong Kristen Ashley vibes.

The book opens with Miranda discovering her husband (Bowie) is having an affair. Soon after (but before confronting him) she runs into the OW (Naomie) at a police ball when she recognizes her from the sexting pics and her husband Tucker. Soon the two (Miranda & Tucker) find they have a connection, and the rest is their journey to HEA.

This author does a lot of insta-love, and their relationship moves fast, especially for two people going through divorces. It’s not super believable, but there’re a few things that make it easier to overlook. Neither marriage is described as a great one, neither mc is devastated by the betrayal of their spouse, and neither mc has been intimate with their spouse in some time… so there’s not the messiness of that… and made it more convincing of going from strangers to soulmates in weeks.

And if Naomie and Bowie’s plan is to tear us apart, all they are actually doing is adding mortar and stone to the solid foundation we are building our relationship on.

It sort of reminded me of Kristen Ashley’s Complicated with the fast-moving relationship between a hairdresser and cop with a side murder mystery, but I also saw another reviewer compare it to KA’s Ride Steady… either way the KA force is strong with this author.

Bottom Line- This fits her formula and ARR fans should be pleased. It’s an easy read with some drama provided by their exes, but nothing heavy. I found the murder mystery part a bit distracting, but it didn’t take up a ton of page time. The H is the brother of Willow’s (Until Her/Him) husband. He has other brothers, so I’m wondering if this might be a new spinoff. She might’ve been setting up a future romance between his single father brother and her BFF. There’s a short epilogue 6 months then 15 years later.

I was hesitant at first because the premise that the MCs only met because their exes were having an affair didn't sound appealing to me. But curiosity won, and I gotta say I'm glad I followed my gut as this became an enjoyable read for me.

They had an unconventional start, but it was satisfying to see Tucker (34) and Miranda (27) take a second chance at love. I loved that these two communicated so well with one another and didn't let the drama caused by their exes ruin what they had. I couldn't help but root for them because I saw how many challenges they faced together, and not once did they let these issues come between them.

I also enjoyed the found family aspect and the relationship Tucker built with Miranda's son, Kingston. He was lucky to have two paternal figures; his dad may be a crap husband, but he sure is a good father.

As for the romance, it was a whirlwind, but I didn't struggle to buy it and believe what they had. These two were so good together, and I love their sweet and tender moments.

I also liked the added suspense aspect and how it got resolved. Though it kind of became dragging, it was still satisfying to get the perp arrested.

Overall, this was good and totally worth reading for me.

(ARC provided by The Author Agency)

Miranda Owens is a newly divorced woman living in Tennessee. She's busy learning how to navigate being a single mom and figuring out how to start over. Her son is her world, and raising him is her top priority. She doesn't have time for a love life right now, but from the moment she meets a gorgeous detective named Tucker Beckett, she feels a strong connection she can't explain. The only problem is she met him because their spouses were having an affair. As the situation continues to grow complicated, will outside drama tear them apart, or will they get a second chance at love?

Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds is a standalone, small town, grumpy/sunshine romance about a single mom and a sexy, protective alpha. It's a fabulous story full of emotion, suspense, swoon, amazing chemistry and second chances. I really adored this couple together, and love this world. I hope we continue to get more books for all the brothers. <333

Not much to report. I liked some of the Until.... romances like Until Nico, but this seemed phoned in.

Heroine catches her husband cheating, gets divorced and starts over with all the angst of a worrisome hangnail. Sexy new H whose wife just happens to be the evil OW picks up where the husband left off. Toss in a plot moppet who "Wuffs you!" and bye.

Until Nico and Until Lilly had some major evil OW angst and action. Much better.

Reynolds has done it again and I’m not surprised how much I loved Before We Fall!!! Miranda and Tucker’s story is amazing, heartwarming, filled with love, healing, drama from outside sources, and suspense.
I absolutely love Miranda and Tucker and how their relationship develops! Despite meeting because their spouses are having an affair, they feel an instant attraction that grows into a beautiful love. I love them together and how they deal with the craziness that their exes try to pull.
Miranda is such a kind and caring person. Her relationship with her son, Kingston, is so cute and I adore how they are so close. Then there’s Tucker who is completely swoon worthy, very sweet, and super protective. The relationship he builds with Kingston is precious and beyond adorable.
In addition to the amazing romance this book also has suspense due to the case Tucker is working. What happens is horrible but I enjoyed what it adds to the story and I’m glad that Tucker and his brother figure it out.
This book has everything I’ve come to love about an Aurora Rose Reynolds romance!! Tucker and Miranda totally deserve each other and I love that they find their happiness!
It’s a kind of spinoff from Until Willow but you can totally read it even if you haven’t read her Until series. There may be a hint of who will have the next Until book though and I’m so excited!

This isn’t particularly good. It isn’t particularly bad either. It’s a one-hook idea (wife falls for the husband of the woman her husband is having an affair with and vice versa) featuring the same hot guy who calls the FMC “Babe” and the same beautiful-and-sexy-but-not-skinny woman that this author writes about so frequently. They have the occasional human moment but feel generic most of the time. One thing this author does get right in every book I’ve read so far: her couples use the obstacles in their path to form stronger bonds and trust instead of blowing up their relationship with misunderstandings and melodrama. I like that. I like it a lot.

There was some ex-spouse drama mixed with a murder case and a corruption case that hardly registered on the Richter Scale, then it all ended, not with a bang but with a whimper.

That whimper might have been me, wishing for something better written.

This was really good. Great story. Good inside story too. I just saw there is a book about willow and clay. So I just got that one too.

I liked the plot and characters. The side characters were great and I love Kingston.

I actually wonder if she will give her ex husband a book. Lol idk. Any redemption for his dumb azz?

Anyway. Good stuff I really liked this

my only complaint about this book is that it was a too instalove for me other than that i really enjoyed it. 😊

miranda (h) finds out her husband (bowie) is cheating on her with someone named naomie (ow). naomie is also married to man named tucker (H). she immediately starts the process of leaving her husband behind his back. at a work event she finds out that tucker works with her husband and they have an instant connection.

they see each other in passing a few times before tucker realizes he doesn’t want to leave her alone and wants to take her out. their relationship progresses VERY quickly. like 0-100 after one date 😂 he’s in miranda and kingston’s (her son) lives with no plans to go anywhere.

naomie and bowie continue to see each other but don’t like the fact that their ex-spouses are now together. they try time and time again to break them apart but tucker and miranda never waver on their feelings.

miranda doesn’t take any of of bowie’s excuses or pleadings for her to stay. even after they’re divorced he tries to get her back but she just ignores him. i loved that she didn’t even think of staying for the sake of their child. she knew she deserved better and she left!! i was glad the author didn’t make bowie to be a terrible dad tbh it’s said that he wasn’t very present even when they were married but through the divorce they come to a custody agreement and it’s amicable enough.

no third act breakup. 🤩 all in all it was a very cute story 🫶🏻

Let's just take a moment to appreciate this GORGEOUS cover. Can we go back to romance book covers looking like this and stop with the illustrated and discreet ones, these are the covers I gravitate towards. But that's probably just me.

Now to the book. Was this book perfect, no. Did I want more from it, yes. Did I love it anyway, heck yes.

This was fast paced and I pretty much flew through this but the story was still missing a lot, like a chapter would end and the next would pick up a day, week or month later and that left me constantly wanting more pieces from in between. I just wish there was more of everything.

I wanted Miranda to be a little stronger when it came to her ex. I know she did everything for her son but hun please feel free to rage at Bowie and tell him to stfu as he does not get to call any shots when it comes to your son and the ppl in his life.
Tucker was perfect and you can't convince me otherwise (because I won't listen).

This book had a crime element to it as Tucker was working on a case being the Detective/FBI agent he was and this was another part of the book I wanted more from, I was enjoying it but again it went way too quick.

I still loved this book and hoping there are more books involving these characters.

Miranda has just found out her husband has been cheating on her for at least a few months…. And she meets the woman and the woman’s husband - Tucker. He agrees to not say anything to the cheaters so Miranda can get everything situated and be in a better position to leave her husband and ask for a divorce.
While celebrating her divorce she runs into Tucker again. Then she sees him at her apartment and he asks her out. Oh the butterflies!
These two begin a relationship and they are extremely happy together. I love these two characters as a couple! The characters were well written and you’ll quickly fall in love with them both. And let’s not forget Miranda’s son who also falls in love with Tucker. I enjoyed the extender family unit and how the author makes you feel like you are there at the campfire enjoying marshmallows with chocolate inside them.

I loved everything about this story and look forward to additional stories within this series.

Tucker Beckett’s life gets entwined with Miranda Owens under interesting circumstances but it might end up for the best. Now, can two single adults find a way to move on with life and start again…maybe even with each other? This is a wonderful second chance at love romance with a side of mystery thrown. Miranda and Tucker fits perfectly together juggling the world of new beginning. I also enjoyed the little cameos from the until series characters. A feel good weekend read. Told in dual POV

It's been ages since I read a book by this author and I was in the mood for something light and quick to read, and I got that here.

I still really don't like how she starts most of her paragraphs with present participle. It's sloppy and lazy and is really distracting and jarring, and one of the reasons why I stopped reading her work. 1st person POV is not her strong suit. 😬

3.5 for the story, 2 for the writing. Settling for 2.5

What do you do when you find texts of your husband cheating? You break down, collect all the info, and get a shock that the woman he's cheating with is the wife of a coworker who just found out. That's how Miranda and Tucker meet. At first, he'd a little grumpy dealing with that and a case, so their first meeting wasn't too happy. But they keep running into one another and sparks fly.

But she has to think about her little boy, but the more Tucker is in her life, the more she falls. They also have to deal with there exs who just don't know when to give up. It made me roll my eyes at how the exs were.

Thank God Tucker and Miranda didn't give them a chance to ruin their new relationship! And we're like naw nope go away. They also had to deal with Tuckers' job. Besides that, this was a good read.

Om/ow drama (the exs), no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins

There was something about this one that had a quiet tone to it, sort of like the little romance that could. At the start Miranda and Tucker learn horrible things about their spouses and take measures to end things. They keep running into each other and start an odd friendship, that morphs to more. I love that both of them cherish what they are building and work to make sure it's good for each other, while having to work around the chaos their ex's bring.

It was great to see how things ended for them and how they lived their life, happy.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the writing and the fact that the characters were mature but I would love to have seen more of the relationship development. Things moved so fast between them, giving me insta-love vibes. Other than that, I found Tucker was a great hero and I appreciated how protective he was too. I also really enjoyed the setup and how these two originally got together.

I enjoyed this one for the most part especially as I love kids in my romances. The exes were around a little too much for my liking but all in all not bad

Before We Fall is such a sweet, feel good and lighthearted read. Tucker and Miranda came into each others lives after she discovered that their spouses were having an affair with each other. Those adulterers deserved one another and the best thing to come out of it was Tucker and Miranda’s relationship. This is such a wonderful and enjoyable second chance at love romance and Tucker and Miranda’s undeniable sparks, their bond and chemistry made everything worthwhile.

I'm not one for a lot of drama, but what I liked about this one is that the drama was outside the relationship. Both main characters had drama with their exes and I really like how they handled it. I pretty much devoured this book and wish I had another one to start up. Great book!

Amazing

I want a man like Tucker. And the heroine is pretty awesome too. And they got away from the vile eyes and made a great life without them. I liked the mystery in the book too, and the background story of which I cannot divulge! But this is a great read. The only cheating done is between the exes. And boy were they both sorry I am sure. Loved Kingston too. The brother dynamics is strong. I wonder if they have books or will someday. But I really enjoyed this read.

5 Tucker and Miranda Stars

I don't know quite why I am so late to the party with this book. It released in July 2023 and Aurora Rose Reynolds is in my top 5 favourite romance authors with Until November being one (possibly the top) of my go to re read books. Anyway , I have now read Before We Fall and I love it.

The book opens with our heroine , Miranda (early/mid twenties) , discovering that her husband is having an affair. That immediately caught my interest.

I do love a book that grabs me from the start and I needed a novel to do that. I was not in the mood for easing gently into something and Ms Reynolds delivered. Miranda is a lovely heroine. She and her Police Officer cheating husband Bowie, have a little boy called Kingston (3), who is adorable. There were moments when I wanted her to get a bit more angry at Bowie - I'm not sure I could have been as cool as Miranda was but it fitted with her character , she is quite reserved and her devastation at Bowie's betrayal was quiet fury rather than a screaming rage.

Naomie , the woman who Bowie cheats with is also married to a Police Officer - Detective Tucker Beckett. Tucker and Miranda meet at the point where both have learnt of the affair and are on the brink of ending things - maybe that is the ultimate slap in the face to both their cheating partners. It was pretty satisfying to read.

This is the first in a new series and Tucker is one of four foster brothers the others being Clay , Miles and Dayton. If you have read the Until Him /Her series , you will have met Clay already as the Hero in Until Willow. Miles's book is the second in the Before Series (Before This Ends. Dayton is going to be getting his own story too. Aurora Rose Reynolds is really good at creating secondary characters that bring a huge amount to the story. The four brothers have an unbreakable bond and although they share many traits they are quite different too. Tucker Beckett is solid, loyal and tough. He's definitely a book Hero that stays in your head and heart. He develops a really good rapport with Kingston which is sweet to read.

There is a backdrop of crime going on - Beckett is a Detective after all (actually he's more than that but all will become clear). That was interesting and sad to read. I enjoyed the suspense of that running parallel to the evolving love story.

I borrowed this on KU but I loved it so much I bought the ebook. I also listened on audiobook - excellent narration by Sorcha Shilling and Ryan Stone. Listening time 7hr 50m.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? Not between Miranda and Tucker. They are solid.
Be aware - Violent crime / rape are discussed as per the Police investigation.

Good songs for this book are:
'This Kiss' by Faith Hill (Tucker and Miranda)
'Have I Told You Lately That I Love You' (Tucker and Miranda)
'My Boy' by Elvie Shane (Tucker and Kingston).
'Keep On Talking' by Texas (Bowie and Naomie)
'Either Way' by Chris Stapleton (Tucker and Naomie)
'We Don't Fight Anymore' by Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton (Bowie and Miranda)

Oh, I’d wondered how Tucker would end up okay with his brothers again. You met him in Clay’s story and if you were anything like me, you were really hoping for all three brothers in the future, right? Yeah, I thought so. But I will say, Tucker doesn’t have the easiest story to tell. Not at all. Between his marital drama, his future, the woman who he shouldn’t look for anything with, and the case pressing down on his shoulders like a house caving in, he’s got a lot going on. But there’s something about Miranda that demands he not mess this up…again. But Tucker is a smart man and he knows how to apologize, how to communicate, and how to stick it out with the person he could see forever with, for real this time around.

As for Miranda, I adored her. She’s strong, unwilling to bend when it’s imperative she stay the course, smart, and knows to protect herself and her son above all else. So when she and Tucker have an awkward first meeting (thanks, Emma) and a confusing second and third one, she’s not sure he’s worth the headache. But as much as Tucker communicates, Miranda listens. And she communicates also. These two balance each other out perfectly and manage to remain united against the nonsense that toxic people bring, all while also bringing a little bit of humor to the misery trying to bust into their happy bubble.

We also get a bit of mystery and the questions about where this is all heading. There’s a lot on Tucker’s mind, but he doesn’t falter in letting Miranda know that she and her son are 100% in his head and heart at all times. They manage to tell such a wonderful tale together that I can’t wait to see which brother finds it in him to settle down next. I have a few guesses as to who and who with for each, but I guess I have to wait to see if I’m right…..

ARR has outdone herself with this one. I absolutely loved Miranda and Tucker's story from start to finish. I could not get enough of them. Their story was heartwarming and while it had some outside drama, there was lots of love and healing. Tucker is a Grade A+ hero who I adored from the first grunt and chin lift. Miranda was incredibly strong, a phenomenal mama to Kingston and so lovable.

Despite the fact that the only reason they met is because their spouses were cheating on them with each other, you can't help but wonder if fate played a hand at their meeting. There was an undeniable chemistry between the two of them that neither of them could deny. Tucker is super swoony, I mean who doesn't love a man in uniform. Miranda, despite everything that was thrown at her, she didn't crumble. She pulled herself up by her bootstraps and got it done for her and her son. Tucker's relationship with Kingston just melted my heart, combined with the fact that he had no problem standing up to Bowie...so sexy!!!!

I loved every page of their story and I was so sad that I read it so fast. Now I am just dying for the other brothers to get their story!!!
