Japanese for Busy People: Kana Workbook
In the 22 years since its publication, Japanese for Busy People has won acclaim worldwide as an effective, easy-to-understand textbook, either for classroom use or for independent study. Would be the perfect guide to learning kana if it came with flash cards and additional pages for writing practice. Nevertheless, it's a good primer before starting to learn Japanese—I learned to read and write hiragana and katakana in a week despite having no idea what some of it means.
