Max and Bauer

Rate this book
Bauer is on the prowl for an omega in heat. Instead, he meets Max, an alpha whose scent calls to him. Max is hesitant to hook up with him at first but can’t resist the urge. They spend a wild weekend with each other, and Bauer knows they’re meant to be together. Against all odds, they’re fated alphas.

Max is unsure about being in a relationship with another alpha but doesn’t mind having him around, especially when it comes to work on his farm. But when they get a big surprise, Bauer is way more enthusiastic about it than he is. He’s a pregnant alpha and knows his dad, a staunch believer that alphas retain a strong dominant role, would kill him if he ever found out.

Bauer is thrilled to become a dad but not so thrilled the exciting news has to be kept quiet for the time being. As long as they can be together and start a family, he’s willing to go along with Max’s wishes, but Max’s domineering father might hamper any true happiness they can achieve. If they can navigate the obstacles life throws at them, they might get a chance at a happy ending.

Max and Bauer is the first book in the Oops, Babies series. Bauer goes to a bar looking for an omega in heat to hook up with when he catches an irresistible scent that calls out to him. He tracks down the scent and to his surprise comes face to face with an Alpha. Despite the shock of an Alpha hitting on Max can't resist Bauer and they hook up, but he soon learns that not only is Bauer his fated mate, but he might not be all Alpha as he thought.

At 19, Max left home to run his own small farm and attend university remotely to study agriculture. He's been under pressure from his father, who wants him to follow in his footsteps to become a lawyer or enter into business. With a disappointed father who is all about masculinity and being a domineering alpha, accepting his alpha mate causes issues for Max. However, Bauer doesn't let Max push him away and works hard to show him that he's still the same despite his changing body.

I really enjoyed Max and Bauer. I like reading omegaverse stories with an alpha who doesn't know he can get pregnant so I enjoyed that aspect.

Bauer was really sweet on Max, showering him with attention and care. He never really had a chance to experience a loving family, so it was cute seeing Max slowly start to accept himself, Bauer and his new life. I also found interesting that Max wasn’t just an Omega in an Alpha’s body rather he was an intersex Alpha.

I liked how the mating and heat sex was done. It was intense and long but not as brutal to Max as it was in other books by this author. While it can be seen as a bit on the dub-con side by some readers, it didn't feel like that to me at all.

I've said this before and I will say it again, I appreciate Sarah Havan for writing long birthing scenes in their stories as we do not often see that in mpreg/omegaverse stories. I will warn you that it's long and pretty graphic....nothing is held back so it may not be for everyone.

Overall I enjoyed Max and Bauer and had a good time reading it. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I am familiar with Sarah Havan, so nothing here surprised me. If you've read any of her other books, then yes, this also contains a . It wasn't nearly as bad as that milk book though so there's that.

I thought the premise was great, two alphas bond and they are terribly surprised when one of them gets pregnant. This is definitely unconventional in their society, and while one MC is excited, the other is determined to hide it from everyone.

Unfortunately, it ended up being very unengaging emotionally.

Bauer is a sweet and supportive character...when he's not being pushy and guilting Max into having sex with him. I was not a fan of the unnegotiated pony play he sprung on Max.

Max was not very well developed and I feel like his insecurities about his family were just brushed off. Also, he's so young! He's only 19, a baby! Poor baby, I felt bad for him tbh.

This totally lost the plot at the end, when it was time for Max to give birth. Just...so dramatic. I was pretty disengaged by this point so mostly just skimmed the scene.

Max and Bauer

Not going to lie, getting through the first chapters where Max and Bauer are together for the first time is hard. It's uncomfortable how unsure Max is about being with Bauer, and the fact that Bauer doesn't stop or wait for Max is disturbing. So, rapey.
Eventually, their relationship works out, though. I do enjoy how Bauer kept going to Max, checking in on him and that. I kind of wanted more of a face off against Max's dad, though, cause having it told by Max that his dad is very bigoted is different from witnessing it from the man directly.
Also, the refusal to go to the doctor was so sports on for some men lol.
Holy surprise on the baby, though. ( I'm not going to say anymore cause I don't want to spoil it.)
Good ending!

Such a sweet read

I loved this story. Alpha alpha or alpha omega love is love. The term intersex is used today and it was a shame Max's dad couldn't accept his son for the amazing Alpha/omega he was. This was such a a sweet story of coming to terms with one's body and learning its ok to love an alpha.

Great book

I love the MC relationship, lol. I kept laughing when Bauer was in denial of the clear love he felt for Max. Sarah has the best birthing scenes.

Just give this a try

Sarah Havan is the queen of birth scenes! If you're looking for an mpreg that actually covers that aspect of mpreg this is the author for you. Of all Sarah's work this is the least angsty so I would recommend to try this over some of the others than tend to be higher on the angst scale if that's not for you. Great read
