The United States is reeling from the terrible shock of December 7, 1941. In one terrible day, the nation finds itself at war while tending to a horrific wound. Along with her four squadrons of fighters, torpedo planes and bombers, the mighty E is primed to deliver a hard lesson to America’s foes.

Hitting multiple targets hard and fast, Halsey delivers a clear and unmistakable We will rain destruction upon you from the sky and nowhere will be safe!
From the Marshals, Enterprise makes a surprise visit to Wake Atoll where the Japanese have captured the base and the pan-Am facilities. Join the heroic men of the Big-E as she wheels across the pacific and begins introducing Tojo to the hardest lesson of all – mess with us and we’ll come for you!
Planes roar through the sky, guns blazing and bombs pepper the tropics in this latest WWII thriller.
Historical Accurate Account of Enterprise Action immediately following Pearl Harbor
Not only accurate, but personalized with actual Heroes stories. Even found one I don't see so often - JIMMY DANIELS, who as an Ensign flew into the Pearl Harbor attack, landed safely, and continued his career to Command The USS TICONDIROGA CVA14 during the early buildup of the Vietnam War in 1961. Was a very competent Skipper & Tough when he needed to be. Several other historical Heroes also that have been included in numerous novels & battles. Best early battle coverage I've read. More publicized battles follow, but those are different stories.
Scott Cook does it again. These stories of the carrier Enterprise and her crew, have truth with occasional fiction to be amazed at the brave fighting men of World War II as well as be part of the on going series of Art Turner, Marine Raiders and all the other characters Scott has introduced and continues to entertain us with. Exciting, well written fast paced, at times you cheer and others you get that lump in your throat. Look forward to another book in this series as well as all the others Scott Cook writes.
I’ve read lots of other books about pilots in WW2. This is one of the best. I appreciated the accuracy and detail in his description of the Enterprise, the pilots and their aircraft, and the events of the war in the Pacific at that time. I’ve always enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the people involved by reading historical fiction. There is nothing like connecting with the past through the characters created by an author. I am looking forward to reading other books by Scott Cook.
In WW2, no ship earned more stars than the carrier Enterprise. This story follows the first hit & run raids on the Micronesian Islands in early 1942. Although fictionized, the characters & air groups follow the actual individual’s involved. It’s a true example of the Greatest Generation in the USN.
This is the second book in the USS Enterprise naval adventures series. It covers the period between December 7, 1941, and the upcoming Battle of Midway. Admiral Halsey takes the carrier into the central Pacific and launches several attacks on Japanese held islands, thereby giving the country something to cheer about as it recovers from the shock of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
A learning experience. Much to be said about ww 2, the brave men and women that died fighting for our country. War is just plain crazy. Well written! Rock on!
Descent story, but dialogue is sophomoric and not credible. Pilots simply did not engage in the sort of silly banter described. Character development is on the thin side.
I thought both books were compelling and highly educational about the events of the early days of the war in the Pacific; however, at the end of Wings of Vengeance, I was left thinking what's next. I wanted more and, therefore, I was disappointed. I'm hoping that there will be at least another book on this subject.
Interesting read, history of Enterprise ops early in WW 2.
The early operations of our carriers at the beginning of WW2 are usually lightly covered in most books. It was very interesting to read of these early operations. I'm looking forward to reading the third in the series.
It was a good read as are all Scott's books. The problem was that it was too short! I would not have minded, but TBE price was too high for a short book...
Excellent read for WWII enthusiasts. Interesting array of characters. Enjoyed the different perspectives and personalities of the pilots and their stories
Great story based on historical events. Good, honest historical basis. Descriptions of carrier operations authentic- I say as a former naval aviator. Great story telling!
