Eurydice Dimitriou has always been the innocent sister, but she's finally ready to step out of the long shadow cast by her powerful family…and the ex who shattered her heart. Perhaps rough hands on soft skin are exactly what she needs to forget her heartbreak once and for all?

Charon Ariti has been Hades's right-hand man for years. He's given everything to the lower city, but now he's ready to take something for himself. He's only too happy to give Eurydice a special kind of education…but is her heart really free enough to be claimed?

Orpheus Makos will do whatever it takes to make things right. Once the golden boy of the upper city, he's now a shadow of his former self. He'll do anything to get Eurydice back…even if it means she's not coming into his arms alone. Three hearts. Three futures. Countless ways to get it wrong.

But with enemies slipping through Olympus's faltering barrier to lay siege on the lower city, a trio of broken hearts will be the least of these would-be lovers' worries…

I really enjoyed this! Possibly my #3 favorite in the series so far. As an Orpheus hater (historically), giving Orpheus a bit of a humiliation kink and a desire for penance that is enough to be satisfactory while very intentionally not making it his only personality trait was probably the best way for this series to make him a palatable character for me, in all seriousness. And by the end the throuple had won me over.

Good plot and good smut, though I think the romance could have used more development. Love Eurydice. This is a great entry in this series.

Keeping this review short and sweet!

This throuple was a cute, sexy bunch. I have been itching to learn more about Orpheus and Eurydice since the beginning books and Charon was a perfect addition to their love.

There were lots of good spice scenes and we discovered just a tad more about the happenings with Olympus's enemy. I wanted maybe a little more from the book in places, but I still ate it up! Katee Roberts is always fantastic!

Another entry in the Dark Olympus series and this one has some big reveals for the macro-plot! I love where the political stuff is headed. The romance is pretty good too, though not my favorite of the series. We have a polyamorous triad with Eurydice, her best friend turned love interest Charon, and her ex Orpheus who has a hell of a lot to apologize and make up for. This one involves power play and groveling in a way that isn't really my thing, but I think it ultimately works for the characters. At this point though, I'm just very invested in where the larger plot is headed! The audiobook brings back the same narrators for the rest of the series, which is fine even if the main male narrator isn't my favorite. He's grown on me. I received an audio review copy of this book from Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

one of the worst written books i’ve ever fucking read. i felt like i was reading a book written by a fourteen year old who just found out they could write smut on wattpad and wanted to give it a try.

i still can’t get over that the phrase “blow my load” was written unironically in an actually sex scene in this fucking book.

also i thought it was so fucking weird that only the white characters were described explicitly by race and also right after they were introduced. katee i don’t need to know that the nurse is a tall white man. that’s unneeded information thank you very much.

To make a mythological analogy in the style of this series: I am Sisyphus and these books are the rock I must eternally roll uphill. I miss the person I was before reading the ~2,000 pages I’ve invested in this series so far, but I’m in too deep at this point. If you want good Orpheus/Eurydice content just listen to “Talk” by Hozier

No one is doing it like Katee Roberts [derogatory]. This might have been the most painful book of the series to date???? Came for the terrible dialogue (a real quote from this novel is literally “take the leap with me, baby… we already have a strong-as-shit foundation of caring and mutual respect”), stayed for the #diversitywin of incorrectly using neopronouns! At least I’m safe for the next 6 months until the next book comes out. On the plus side, this series makes me appreciate almost any other book so much more.

This was a really enjoyable addition to the Dark Olympus series, but it felt like there was simultaneously too much happening and not enough happening at moments throughout the story.

I loved learning more about Eurydice and seeing her find her place. She really comes into her own in this book and it was great to see. I also loved Charon. He's a great character and it was interesting to see more of Hades and the inner circle in the lower city. We also got to see a lot of Hades and Persephone in this one which was nice.

I didn't love Orpheus. I wanted that man to GROVEL but it felt like he went too hard about it and was forgiven too quickly. I enjoyed the dynamic between Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus, but I feel like the relationship moved too fast.

ALSO that ending. I actually gasped when I got to the last page because I was so sure there would be more. I feel like the ending was very abrupt and I would have loved at least an extra chapter to tie it all together.

I'm still really looking forward to the following books now that we have some more information about the conflict and the key players who are going against Olympus.

i don't know how many more of these books i can handle. they keep getting more plot heavy and that's just not what i'm here for, but the romance isn't good either so i don't know why i'm here at this point. i feel like katee robert is just pulling things out of her ass and i hate the amount of internal monologue there is. it makes me so sad how the sisterly relationship eurydice and her sisters had before is just gone now for some reason, and i also just miss the carefree and fun time that was neon gods, because now everyone is stressed all the time about going to war and politics and being pregnant and they're calling orpheus a dog and making him clean the floor. despite this, i am committed and unfortunately must finish the series.

This is one of my favs in the series! I absolutely loved thissss

This follows Orpheus, Eurydice & Charon and we get sooo many cameos from Hades & Persephone which I loved because neon gods has always been a 5 star read for me, and being back in the lower city was so much fun

The plot was better in this than the last book, the relationship development, I absolutely loved Charon’s character, the pacing was good and the spice was 10/10 as always!!

I love how much the plot thickens in this book, and how some twists were revealed too, this book radiant sin & wicked beauty have definitely been the most exciting in terms of plot development, neon gods is just on another level in my opinion 🙌🏼

There have been some amazing entries in the Dark Olympus series, and there have been some duds. I'd say that Midnight Ruin falls somewhere in the middle. In the first book, Orpheus abandons Eurydice to a fate engineered for her by Zeus; she is taken into the "under city" and taken under the protection of Persephone and Hades. In recent entries in the series, she has taken a more active role in Olympian politics. She's also been hanging out with Charon a lot. But, she can't seem to stop thinking about what might have been with Orpheus...

As this series has continued, the less the stories have to do with Greek mythology and the more they lean into Olympian politics. Sometimes this works (I absolutely loved Radiant Sin, which was almost unrecognizable as the Cassandra/Apollo myth) and sometimes it doesn't (Cruel Seduction... what even was that?). At this point, the shift away from Greek mythology means that the names of the characters are really just random names. Orpheus? He's a painter! Eurydice? She was in love with him! If you thought that he was going to cross into the underworld (under city) to get her and be given a task to complete before he could get her out ... you're wrong. He does meet up with her when Charon tells him to, but like I said ... that's about it. Do not go looking for deeper connections because they're just not there.

All that said, I have been eagerly awaiting this entry in the series, because I generally love what Katee Robert does with MMF triads. This one I didn't love, but I can't really blame her for my own preferences. Here, she leans in on the degradation kink in this one, which I was not expecting. Orpheus feels he has to atone for his sin of abandoning Eurydice. He does this by cleaning Charon's kitchen floor, servicing both Charon and Eurydice sexually, and basically being their "good dog." (Sadly, Cerberus is an actual dog-character, because I do think it would have been funny to see a name change or something.) While Robert's work is generally on the kinkier side, this went even further on the spectrum. Just keep that in mind when you pick this one up!

If you're really into the politics of Dark Olympus, I think you'll lean more towards liking this one. If you just wanted MMF, Katee Robert-style, make sure you know what exactly you're getting into!

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.

this book was okey, it wasn't bad, but it didn't stick out to me. I didn't especially loved the characters, but I didn't find them annoying, so a win is a win.
This book felt like a filler, cus nothing much happene and it moved plot forward just a little. The smut was good as usual.
But it made me even more excited for HeraZeus book 9 and I didn't know it was possible.
audiobook note: the narrator read Charon name like "Karen" and embarrassing numer of times I was like who tf is Karen and what is she doing here💀

First off, a letter to the editor: Unfortunately, I'm not sure what's happened, but this issue was bad enough for me to make a point of it upfront: DUDE, the EDITING!! I have never seen so many typos! So many nonsensical sentences that needed a rework! I was astonished! Some of them BROKE my BRAIN!

Anyone walking by can see still us...

If they had hurt Matthew, that would be all the declaration of war.

We're not so deep into the greenhouse that he's soon out of sight though...

And I made a vow to keep Hades safe. My carelessness is making a godsdamned mess of this. I made a vow that I'd keep Hades safe. Two promises I'm going to break with my carelessness.
(this one pissed me off SO BADLY!!!)

I didn't count general spelling or grammar errors, and a bunch of technically correct but very clunky sentences. I'm just surprised, is all! I'd be forgiven for losing the thread of the plot...

------------------------------------

There's a hunger there, written across his face, and I can't begin to say if that hunger is for me or for her... or both.

PLOT
I'm sorry, plot, did you say? I'm not familiar with that term... No but seriously, the only point of this book was as a vehicle for another Dark Olympus throuple. Absolutely no problems with that!

OH! But we FINALLY got a literal concrete bit of information that helped explain the magical barrier a bit. I won't spoil anything, just, I literally complain about it every book! I was so happy! There's actual talk about the magical barrier and how it works and why it's weakening! I mean, wow!! It still doesn't make sense, like, why and how is it there in the first place? But guys, it's real! And there's a legit reason for it to be weakening FINALLY!!! I can't tell you how much this made the book jump in my esteem!

CHARACTERS
I have often criticized Katee Robert (long may she reign) for lack of character development and I don't see why I should change my stripes now... Once again, our characters are given only the characteristics that can be summed up in one sentence by popular opinion (Charon, so grumpy! Eurydice, so helpless! Orpheus, what a dog!). Now I know I sound like a curmudgeon, because I know many many readers are into grumpy/sunshine but there are other personalities, and dimensions within that trope!

Let me set this scene for you... (the book just fuckin' starts! no complaints! just, when I set the scene, I'm literally, like, just starting the book. don't worry about missing background info, you didn't!): Remember Habits (Stay High)... by Tove Lo? This might be more apt for Nesta at the beginning of A Court of Silver Flames, maybe never mind, but, follow me. Eurydice (who ADMITS she doesn't have a personality, I'm not even going to go into her!) is going to sex clubs, trying to pick up daddies at the playground, etc... Charon is supposed to be her bodyguard. He sees her getting hit on by a very nice Thanatos, and...: "... it was like some demon took over my body. I didn't make a choice to interrupt them. Just like I didn't make a choice to pin her against my chest like this. It just... happened."

(I like... don't believe you, and also I'm so disappointed)
AND THAT RIGHT THERE! is Charon's personality for the rest of the book. I thought he was going to be a dominant daddy but he never really took ownership of being anyone's daddy and so he was just... the guy that stuff just... happened to.

Oh, and I forgot, Bro blew his "I love you" load at 8%. I was SHOOK!! These two were awkward AF!

Switching gears, Orpheus is a bit more... I don't know what. I mean, there's the whole "I was responsible for a thing that was, in every way, obviously a deadly trap for Eurydice, but guys! I only did it because I'm a piece of shit!" and there's every reason to hate him, and then Charon comes to see him to tell him he owes Eurydice an apology so she can move on and Charon can slide into her DMs and Orpheus says "If you're here to beat the shit out of me, just know I'm partial to my good looks and I'll fold immediately." aaaaaaand you kind of can't hate him anymore. He's so so depressive, it would be like kicking a puppy... where the puppy is asking to be kicked. Aaaaaand he bottoms like a champ, soooooo... all is forgiven??

KR actually did a good job making his love for Eurydice about more than just lust. He isn't just an artist for the prestige, he really loves it. And not only do you empathize with him a bit for losing his passion, but it makes you see that he is capable of real feeling. He was also the most introspective of the group. Whether it was understanding his own rock bottom, the throuple he was trying to find his place in, or the outside conflict of the book, he had the most insight. (You do not get a similar thing like this for Charon. He has a bit of a savior complex. Is that a personality trait?)

SEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Anyway, WHO CARES IT WAS SO HOT!!! If I can be so bold, I honestly think KR was like "how can I get them into bed as fast as possible?!" and I was here for it per the usual. My problem is that things that shouldn't have been awkward, like Charon and Eurydice revealing their feelings for each other, was suuuuuper awkward and hard to read; and stuff that should have been hella awkward, like Orpheus catching Charon and Eurydice getting it on in his car, was funny as hell! Buuuuuut somehow none of the sexy times were awkward and in fact this was some of my favorite of KR's. Thanks, Babe!

I will also always give KR all the credit and kudos where they are due for giving their characters safe spaces to discover themselves! For the first time, it wasn't just a throwaway that 'oh, yeah, both of these guys have been in relationships with dudes before.' It was like 'oh... OH! They're gonna... OOOOHHH, OK! And everyone's totally...? Yup, totally on board! Oh, not even a second thought?? Alright, I am here for this!!' Add to that, Orpheus hadn't been into kink, or at least was unfamiliar with it, and safely found out he was into penance, not only did he enjoy it, but it helped heal his guilt; and Eurydice would have pegged herself (hehe) as a submissive, but safely discovered not only did she enjoy degrading Orpheus, but that it helped her to heal and forgive.

Charon was literally just there, but, it's fine.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I must take a star off for Charon's AND Eurydice's lack of personality (WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT Orpheus would be my favorite character of this book?!)

Plus, I saw Charon as a ginger and I'm mad none of the fan artists read my mind! What were they reading?! Regardless, every bit of all the other 4 stars for seamlessly adding to the Dark Olympus lexicon, for building on the mythology of this stinkin' magical barrier, and for gooooood healthy sexy times!

Is this book garbage? Yes. Did I read this book in 36 hours? Also yes. Was I somehow entertained for most of it? Yes again.

This book didn’t have as much plot/development as it needed but it does move the over arching series plot along and has a few (very) spicy scenes. But this book felt the most shallow plot wise of the series so far. A 100 more pages would’ve helped this book out.

This series is trash but I keep coming back for more when a new book is released 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I will forever and always eat the Dark Olympus books up but Midnight Ruin was one of my least favorite installments to date. Midnight Ruin follows the tangled up lives of Eurydice, Orpheus and Charon. Out of the three leads, Eurydice was my favorite. Her POV was my favorite to read and I thought she was the most fleshed out character. In the scope of Dark Olympus men, Orpheus and Charon blend into the background.

A lot of Midnight Ruin is spent reiterating the political landscape of Olympus. It started to feel repetitive. I trust Katee Robert to pull it all off by the end of this series but I gosh, it feels like we are going in circles a little bit. On the bright side, we finally got some amazing reveals which make me even more excited to read the next book this summer!

As expected, this was very very spicy and did not disappoint! I loved the relationship dynamic between Eurydice, Orpheus and Charon. You can tell they really love/care for one another.

As always, the narrators Zara Hampton-Brown and AlexMoorcock bring these characters to life with their performances. I can’t imagine any other duo narrating the Dark Olympus books!

Midnight Ruin is the 6th book in the Dark Olympus series and while this series has had some hits and misses for me, this one was a fun time. I’ve found the audios just hit right when I want to mix up my reading or take a break from other reads.

The greek mythology has kind of fallen to the wayside and it’s all about the political intrigue of this complex world. And of course the spice. This one is MFM and just a fun time. We have both a friends to lovers romance happening and then a second chance situation happening too, plus a triad situation. It works for them, the audio worked for me.

I received an audio ALC from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley, all thoughts in this review are my own!

OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS!!! I believe that this series gets better and better with each book. The macro plot EXPLODES in this novel with the reveals. We get THE BEST REVEALS in this book, and this triad is the best angst ever!! We have been ramping up to this one for a while, and the light puppy play was PERFECTION!! Unexpected five star reads are my favorite and always welcome but still I really had not expected Midnight Ruin to be one of them when I first started reading the book. The other books in the series have all been between three and five stars so I never know what a new one is gonna bring. Maybe also because I knew the story had puppy play kink in it and I had never read a book featuring it until this one so I wasn't sure I was gonna like this aspect but I ended up liking it a lot actually. At this point Katee Robert can write any kink in a book and I will like it.

This book features Eurydice Dimitriou, Charon Ariti and Orpheus Makos. Eurydice is the younger Dimitrious sister (the others being Callisto, Persephone and Psyche). After Eurydice's heart got broken by Orpheus, she hasn't been sure where to belong. The upper or lower city? Her feelings for Charon, Hades's right-hand man also aren't helping since she knows she can't fully give herself to him as long as she hasn't had closure with Orpheus. Charon has had feelings for Eurydice for months but knows that Orpheus is still in her heart and Charon knows that they need to come face-to-face first and even maybe in bed with both himself and Eurydice. Meanwhile Orpheus isn't quite the golden boy that he once was. His brother Apollo has cut him off, Eurydice doesn't want anything to do with him, until Charon approaches him and invites him down to the lower city to work it out with her.

The romance in Midnight Ruin was top-notch and extremly sensual and hot. I loved it so so so so much. Eurydice/Charon/Orpheus may be my favorite romance of them all so far (I feel like I say this a lot with this series but that's how I'm feeling now). There was a lot of groverling when it came to Orpheus towards Eurydice and I loved every single bit of it. And the puppy play! I very much enjoyed that aspect of their roleplaying. I also really liked that Eurydice discovered she's more of a switch instead of just a sub. Love that for her. I loved all three characters but Charon has my heart. He's my everything now in this series. He was just perfect for both Eurydice and Orpheus, which was a surprise to all of them but they sure went along with it.

The romance was the main plot of this book, as well as with the other books in the series. But the micro plot went also steam ahead in this one. We got some new twists that honestly left me shocked and I didn't think this series could shock me anymore but Katee Robert certainly went for it. We also got a spicy sneak peek of the next book which will feature Ariadne and Asterion a.k.a. the Minotaur, which will have the forbidden love trope. Of course I cannot wait to read it. I have very high expectation of that one!

If I could summarize my thoughts in one word it would be: more. I wanted more on all fronts from this book, except the overarching plot. I wanted more depth in the characters, higher personal stakes, more conflict between them or for the conflict that was previously set up to be taken more seriously and more drawn out, more times for the relationships to develop, more, more, more. I absolutely loved the dynamics of Charon, Eurydice and Orpheus but I enjoyed the way it unfolded just enough that it left me frustrated because of how little everything was explored. And I feel like this might be the fault of the time crunch under which the author is churning out these books. The further we get into the series, the more rushed and less fleshed out they get, which is disappointing because some of these pairings/combinations I was really looking forward to. Here specifically, I was looking forward to seeing how Orpheus and Eurydice address their fraught history but it was all chalked up to „he changed“. Disappointing to be honest.

If it weren’t for wanting to see the bigger plot through, I think I wouöd have DNFed the series.

This was okay, the first 60 percent was more smut and romance and the plot came towards the end of the book. This a polyamorous relationship and tbh they seem solid so I hope they last lol. I feel like their relationship was a bit rushed especially but they were cute. I am very interested in the Olympus plot so I was disappointed after the last book that we didn't get much movement in the plot. There were some reveals but I guess ill have to keep reading the rest of the series to get more plot movement. Overall an okay read but not my favorite in the series.

The sixth installment in the Dark Olympus series is a tale of love, betrayal, and redemption. "Midnight Ruin" has many similarities to previous books in the series; in this one, there is also a new polyamorous relationship, attacks, and of course, the continued political power battle and the failing protective barrier of Olympus.

The story follows Eurydice as she emerges from the shadows of her powerful family and a heartbreak that left her vulnerable. Her journey intertwines with Charon, Hades's loyal aide, who offers her a chance at new experiences and healing. When Orpheus, Eurydice's ex-lover, enters the picture, the dynamics shift towards a complex and explosive chemistry among the three.

Eurydice has always been the innocent sister with an ex that shattered her heart. Orpheus will do whatever it takes to get Eurydice back, even if it means she isn’t coming alone. Charon is happy to give Eurydice the special attention she deserves. Can the three of them learn to get along or will they get it wrong?

With enemies slipping through Olympus’s faltering barrier to lay siege on the lower city, broken hearts will be the least of their worries.

This is one of those series that I have read from the beginning, and I am happy to be on the ride until the very end. I have enjoyed all of the books, and this one was a lot of fun as well. I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Eurydice, Orpheus, and Charon and how it grew and developed over the course of the book. The way they worked out their insecurities and communication were just amazing. As always, Katee Robert writes amazing spice scenes, and this book did not disappoint at all in quality or quantity. This MFM relationship was just a lot of fun to read and this one had some fun tropes that I didn’t know I would enjoy reading about. The pacing is quick, and the story held my interest throughout. I didn’t want to put this one down.

The preview for the next book was so exciting and it can’t come soon enough for me!

I love this series so much. Each book gives us so much more info that we are constantly craving, and this one does the same!
I was dyinggggg for Eurydice's story and its even better that we get a love triangle with her & CHaron & Orpheus (so to speak). THIS BOOK WAS HOT. The car scene oh my lord I loved it. And also, it was more action packed than expected which was a fun little surprise. I really loved the character development & boy was I ready for Eurydice to grow into her own person & stand up for herself!! Charon was so good for her, and I AM SO HAPPY ORPHEUS CAME AROUND! But the ending ugh... I NEED MORE ANSWERS.
I am glad I got the audio because it was a good listen!

I AM SO READY FOR THE NEXT ONE!!! BACK STORY ON ARIADNE LETS GOOOOOO
