This book grips you right from the start! Erin quickly realises that her 'husband' is a pos but also realises she never really knew him at all. When things take a turn for the worse Erin is left wondering how she will ever get her life back on track but when the mysteriously handsome Damon pops into her life she finally starts putting the pieces together.
Damon is part of the cartel. A mafia boss who has a tragic past! His father is an abusive POS and his mother is no better but despite all the things he went through he was able to love Erin wholeheartedly!!
Erin tried her best to stop herself from eating the big bad wolf that was Damon but after their first kiss she was a goner and so was he.
Their relationship had more than a few bumps in it and a lot of push and pull! Nothing could stop the fact that they needed each other like they needed air. Their love was fierce and misunderstood at first but in the end they fought for it!!
I can't wait for the next book to follow on from this!! This twists and turns at the end of this book left me wanting more!! I can just see Erin becoming a scary mf in book two and with Damon by her side, I hate to think what the world will look like when Erin gets her revenge!!!

I liked this book. The twists and turns leave you wanting more. Cartel mafia boss with tragic pass, suspense, and good romantic tension.
You think it gonna be a normal day, go to work then come home, but it’s anything but. One moment you’re accused of murdering your cheating husband and the next you’re taken by a mafia boss.
All Erinda wants is to know who framed her for her husbands murder and her life back. She makes a deal with the devil not know realizing what she was getting into. Erinda tries to fight her feelings for Damon, but after one explosive kiss it’s not an easy feat.
Looking forward to the next book.

LMLHC was pretty interesting and kept me reading whenever I could. There were many times I was frustrated at the characters and wanted to put the book down, but I couldn't. They wouldn't leave my mind, and I had to finish to see what happened. There were lots of suspenseful moments, twists and turns, and smexy times when they picked up. I enjoyed reading this story and can't wait to see what Steli has in store for the readers in the future.

I loved this Cartel/Mafia Romance! It was an emotional rollercoaster, and I enjoyed every page. Not only was I hooked from the beginning, but I found the FMC to be relatable, and I enjoyed her personality and strength. I also love the morally grey MMC. He was protective, possessive, and dominant in all of a criminal lord. Only showing his soft side to his woman and only briefly. The story was captivating and held my attention from beginning to end. I highly recommend it to all those who love their criminal romance with a lot of tension and emotions. The chemistry between these characters is hot, and the plot is entertaining. 5 star read!

This book was amazing definitely read the warnings in the beginning of the book but the character growth and spicy scenes and the love they have for each other were perfectly portrayed in the story. Definitely add this to your kindle you won’t be disappointed!

I really enjoyed Damon and Erin's story, and I hope there's a second one. Damon's character was possessive and sexy, Erin's was independent. They make quite the couple.

This is a great book. Undertones of murder mystery with a mafia vibe and lots of spice. The characters are fully realized and you get a great glimpse into their world and who they are. You will be hooked once you start this read and be dragged in to Erinda's world willingly.

I really enjoyed Simeonova’s work. This is truly a Beauty and the Beast retelling. This is one of the books where the morally grey male character has been in love with the female character throughout the entire book. It is intriguing to read about his hesitance, his growth and acceptance. I really wish we had more of his POV in the book. (Especially his version of some of the spicy scenes cause OMG were they good)
Her summary and blurb doesn’t do this book justice. Although it’s a mafia romance, it's also a detective fiction. I loved the inner workings of Erinda’s mind. In this book, the main female character is not a damsel in distressed, but a smart innovative STEM woman. You read that right. This book also represents strong women in STEM and as a woman in STEM I was able to live through this character.
Now with that all being said, I could not put it down. I finished it in a matter of a single day. It was a roller coaster through and through. There were many major plot-twists throughout the book that I couldn’t predict. Some of them made me extremely happy and some made me SOB. (I was definitely not ready for the last one.)
Side note: There are times where the book can be kind of slow and times where it feels rushed or in general fast. I think some of the plot twists contributed to the speed of the book. I also felt like there were some holes in the book. I think the speed contributed to some of these holes as well. To me, I didn’t mind it much. I believe that if she had the time and was able to add maybe another 50 pages to express all her thoughts and story, the timeline wouldn’t feel so jagged. This would also help the reader digest all of the new information and plot twists.
Let’s talk about some of the trigger warnings. One thing I was looking forward to was the Somnophilia scenes. There is only one instance of this scene, it was sensational. I was hoping for more of this especially from the main male character’s perspective. I would say the only Non-Con was paired with the Somnophilia scene. Other than that, this book is a good transitional read for those getting into Dark Romance.
As a “newbie author”, you have outstanding potential. I wish you the best.

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. The time frame within the book is only a matter of months. Starting off with a murder, a framed innocent, jail and court hearing, kidnapping, more and more mayhem following.
Erinda Jones is a biochemist working on the antidote to an expensive designer poison. The day that started everything starts as any other ordinary day, that is, until she gets to the bus and finds that she left her wallet at home. Upon returning home now pressed for time to get to work, she finds her husband cheating on her with a neighbor. This is the start of the catastrophe that takes over her life.
Damon Dupont is the New Orleans cartel boss. He is a man who gets what he wants and only gets but controls. He comes to Erinda with a deal that she can’t seem to refuse. She is pulled into his world while still fighting to be in hers. Which one is more dangerous?
Erinda wants her life back for herself until one kiss, it only takes one kiss to send the butterflies loose and her heart sputtering. Now, she is fighting her feelings along with Damon’s and everything else going on.
Warning: Books does have a pretty big cliff to dangle from…In the Epilogue.

I found myself really enjoying the story and really falling in love with all the characters. One thing that was slightly off-putting was the fact that I had to get google to translate a good sum of communication between a couple of characters that were speaking Italian and French. Without these translations, the whole scene would have been lost.

I went into reading this book with only a little bit of background information on the plot & only knew that it was a dark mafia romance. The first plot twist really sets the mood for the book and should have been a sign about the ride the plot was going to take you on!!! After the first few chapters, I was hooked. The FMC, Erin, related a lot to me and her situation is one I can also relate to. Fast forward to meeting our MMC, Damon…I literally cannot lol. He was sexy, delicious & at one point in the book you really wish you were in Erin’s shoes LOL. You can really feel the chemistry of these two through the pages which I really enjoyed. Their dialogue did not make me cringe like most romance novels do. The author did a fantastic job at making the reader feel like they are in the plot and they are experiencing everything first hand. She has a nice, detailed way of setting the stage, but also uses casual language to entice your everyday reader. I think the pacing was good. There were times it felt a little rushed, but if the scenes were dragged on longer, I feel like it might lose the audiences attention. The book had a good dark romance plot, but I think I’ve also read darker romances which made this one seem on the lighter side. This point is very much subjective to the reader & depends on each reader themselves. Overall, I think this is a great book & I really enjoyed being able to read it! I hope the author continues to develop this world and make more books like this. Im sure if booktok found this book, they would eat it up too. It really has potential to be up there with other popular mafia romances. I look forward to reading more work from Steli Simeonova!

This is an amazingly written dark romance. I love that it does show other perspectives at times. For this being Steli Simeonova’s first book, it was an amazing read. I finished it in a day, it sucked me in and I couldn’t stop myself from reading till it’s finished.
Erinda is a biochemist, which I believe is badass for a fmc, and has her life thrown upside down in the matters of hours after finding out her pos husband has been cheating on her then was found dead from a poison that is in her workplace. Then fast forward to her making a deal with the New Orlean’s cartel boss, Damon Dupont. Damon is a dangerous and beautifully written mmc. The chemistry between them is explicit, the more time they had spent together caused them to fall even farther for each other.
I love how Jessica, her best friend, knew she was innocent and was there for her throughout the whole book. I love when a book has well written characters throughout the whole novel.

Erinda just found out her husband is cheating on her and she tries to brush it off and go to work. But while at work, cops show up telling her not only has her husband been murdered but she is suspect number one. Her best friend gets her a lawyer and they fight this case with everything they got. Thankfully she gets not guilty, but it came with a price. She's now Damon's "investment" and boy does that make her mad. But in exchange he will help her find out who killed her husband and is framing her.
I loved the dynamic between these characters. They are both stubborn and refuse to acknowledge anything going on between them. As much as they both want to fight it, they care. Damon can keep using his investment speech as an excuse, but his heart will tell a different story soon. Thank you, Steli for a copy of Love Me Like He Couldn't. enjoyed the characters and turns in the book. timeline was a little confusing at times, but otherwise a good, well written book!
enjoyed the characters and turns in the book. timeline was a little confusing at times, but otherwise a good, well written book!

I was given the opportunity to arc read this novel by the author. Opinions are my own and not swayed regardless of opportunity.
Trigger warnings include:- non/dub con- Somnophilia- abortion- miscarriage- mention of child abuse/sexual abuse.
This story starts off quick, you don’t get much time to warm up and into the characters. The MFC is thrown into disarray from the get go. The MMC is a mafia boss, who has been interested? Obsessed? With the MFC.. and here come the foundation of a really good story!!
The spice level is hot! KC Bear has supported the writer so you know the spice is going to be next level.
The reason I only gave four stars, is there are areas I hd wished for more descriptive information, and areas I wished for less, I get this is personal perspective, and remember this is the authors first novel! Which is great for their first! And I can’t wait for their second

This was a Dark Mafia Romance and Enemies To Lovers Trope.
I am left feeling exhilarated after reading this. What a roller coaster ride of emotions and thoughts. There was so many twist and turns, shocking revelations, Suspense, drama, deception, betrayal, frustration, hate, Love and oh so delicious steam!!!
Erin is left absolutely lost, from cheating husband and finding out so much more and then being framed for his murder.
OH Damon, You dark devil in disguise. I was enamoured by him and the way he loved Erin in his broken way. Such a lost soul, I was hurt for him.
Both of their relationship was just explosive and I loved the hate/love pull between them.
I can't wait to read what happens next.
I need more like, now hahah

While the plot itself was good, I was disappointed by how it was executed. Erinda and Damon... Talk about whiplash, especially Erinda. Pulling stupid stunts and then turning around and blaming Damon? Accusing him of a certain something (trying to avoid any spoilers) repeatedly and then gets upset that he's upset??? 🙄
I really wanted to connect with these characters, I really did, but just couldn't. And for a mafia boss, I expected Damon to not be so childishly wishy-washy. There whole dynamic just felt childish, ugh 😩
The cliffhanger was nice, though!

This book left you wanting more, not just by falling in love with the characters but with the story line. The twist and turns had you wanting to continue to read (even when you probably should be going to bed after working crazy long night shifts) The dynamic between Damon and Erinda, had me falling in love with them. Constantly battling each other but also the love they have. I can’t wait for another book to come out because the ending leaves you wanting more…..definitely need another book like yesterday lol

This book was amazing.
Damon was broody sexy Cartel boss with a dark past that molded him into power. I was obsessed with his dimples and his his nicknames for Erin.
Erin is this gorgeous chemist who discovers what she is made of when being framed for her husband's murder. Seeing her fall in love with Damon, but also making him realize that he is in love with her is beautiful.
The suspense, the plot, and the twist made this such a fun read. The cliff hanger though broke my heart, and I am so excited to see the queen that comes out of her shell.

Wow, just wow. This book was well written! The twists and turns, my my my! This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author, let me tell you, I was not disappointed! This went above my expectations! This story captures you from the very beginning, and it just keeps pulling you in deeper and deeper! You really feel like you’re there experiencing it all with the characters. Cartel mafia. The dynamic between the characters Erinda and Damon. I recommend this book, 100%! Thank you for allowing me to receive an ARC, I absolutely enjoyed this book!

I want to start off by saying I received and ARC of this book and my opinions are my own.
Where to even begin? For being book 1 I loved this! Building this relationship from a rocky beginning was wonderful. Damon and Erin had me blushing and ready to go pounce on my fiancé! I loved that the relationship wasn’t rushed and that they both had to work for it. I cannot wait for book 2!

This was beautifully written! The expense had me not wanting to put the book down! I loved every minute of it..especially the spice!

This book was 50/50 for me but I believe it was personal preference. I felt like it was too slow at times and other times the timeline went too fast. But the plot was great! I really enjoyed this book and read it in record time. I would definitely recommend this book! From finding her husband died, to gaining a new love the twists are endless!

I got lost in a world where I felt sorry for the main character but shouted at the main character.
Expect the unexpected, my heart felt for the male main character as he was clearly hurt by his past and wanted to protect her.
