Milk: The Deadly Poison

Rate this book
A sip of milk contains hundreds of different substances, each one having the potential to exert a powerful biological effect when taken independently of the others. Pus, blood, feces, allergenic proteins, naturally occurring powerful growth hormones, fat, cholesterol, pesticides with vitamin D added, viruses and other bacteria (including bovine leukemia, bovine tuberculosis and bovine immunodeficiency virus) all combine to produce a vast array of aliments in our society.

America's drug stores and supermarkets are stocked with numerous remedies designed to counteract adverse reactions brought about from consuming milk and dairy products. Pills for headaches, sprays for clogged nasal passages, decongestants and antihistamines to alleviate allergic symptoms line the shelves. Stool softeners and laxatives are needed to relieve intestinal gas, bloating, diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome, caused by lactose intolerance which plagues three quarters of the human race. Casein in milk has been described as a primary cause of mucous, congestion and childhood earaches. Without dairy consumption, there might not be a need for these antidotes.

"Cows milk in the past has always been oversold as the perfect food....but the government really shouldn't promote it as such"
---Benjamin Spock, M.D.

"These dairymen are organized; they're adamant they're militant... And they're amassing an enormous amount of money that they're going to put into political activities, very frankly."
---Secretary of the Treasury John Connally to President Richard Nixon, from the Watergate Tapes, March 23, 1971

My uncles were dairy farmers in Minnesota and Washington State. Another uncle worked at creamery and my father was a ice cream maker. I grew up believing that dairy was one of the building blocks of good nutrition and cow's milk was a very important food. In 2000, I was maybe forty pounds overweight and had quadruple bypass surgery. I asked my doctor if there was any way to get the plaque out of my arteries. He suggested Dr. Dean Ornish's Reversing Heart Disease. I was amazed to discover that Dr. Ornish was definitely not a fan of meat or dairy. He pointed out the many problems with milk and milk products. That led me to research milk on the Internet which led me to Milk - The Deadly Poison.

The prevelence of obesity ought to give us a clue that there is something terribly wrong with the American diet. Robert Cohen lets us know that milk and cheese are a major contributors. A number of Amazon reviews of this book would like the reader to think that raw milk could be the answer. But the major problem is the composition of all milk, including the fat content. By the way, have you noticed how many restaurant items have cheese in them?

The dairy industry has a pretty effective lobby. But if you research how dairy cows are actually treated, it will turn your stomich. Dr. Ornish would agree with the author of this book. We don't need milk and cheese. In fact, they are killing those who eat them

Read this book and you will not feel the same way about milk products and dairy cows as you did before. The way dairy cows are treated in modern factory farms makes me sick. And, I'm convinced that milk is really bad for your health. (check out notmilk.com for more information)

Highly believable but way too boring to actually read. Interesting facts and a good book to skim through.
