Is this book also based off of interviews with the character? I liked that the author took the time to get to know Lale's story in 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz' before telling it, but I was unsure if this would be more a work of fiction?

I didn't realize this is a follow up book. Should I put it down and read the Tattoist first?

I am oddly drawn to accounts of the Holocaust, not due to a morbid curiosity about the horrors (though I discover more horrors with every Holocaust story I read), but because it reinforces the idea that love conquers hate and the perseverance of the human spirit.
