Is this novel full of gory details? I'm not particularly squeamish. Ken Follett is one of my favorite authors and his stuff has some graphic descriptions of violence. Still, I don't want to read page after page of evisceration and torture.

I was all set to read The Cartel when I discovered there was a prequel The Power of the Dog. Do you recommend that I read them in order, or does it matter?

Does anyone else feel like they were reading p*rn? Don does this in every one of his novels where he will write a female character and feel the need to make them sexy. Not to make any conclusion, but I feel like when Don was writing the 14 yr prostitute Nora, he forgot that he was writing a 14 yr, and wrote descriptions of her being hot and attractive. This book is overrated. Sex and Violence labeled as "HiStOrY"

Really enoing this book... How close is it to the truth? Names and places changed to protect the innocent, could this be a history of the cartel and the wrriors who fought them?
