I was born in South Jersey, the land of Silk City diners, nuclear plants, cornfields, and the Jersey Devil. My youth was spent reading voraciously, everything from Trixie Belden's (in the vain hope that Jim would slip Trixie the tongue) to my Aunt Mary Ellen's steamy bodice-ripping novels to anything in the stack of books my dad brought home from the library every Saturday, which got me hooked on the novels of Robert Ludlum and Donald E. Westlake.
After earning a degree in Marketing at Auburn University, I spent the next five years in the business world, which is a polite way of saying that I had eleven jobs in a five year period, including door to door sales, skip tracing people who didn't want to be found, repossessing cars and collecting

The best thing about being a writer is that all of my characters have a mind of their own and they constantly surprise, delight and horrify me.

Although I work off an outline and I know where the story is going, I am amazed when my characters take me places I never dreamed I would end up.

In GUNNING FOR ANGELS, I found that one of my main characters got herself into a horrible situation that I had not planned or even consciously thought about. It freaked me out! I stopped writing for three days so that I could think. It was also a horrible place for me to emotional go! After thinking for three days, I decided that something subconscious had taken me down this path and I needed to continue writing to find out why my character was in this horrible situation and what the hell she was going to do to get out of this situation that I had NO idea how to get her out of. Not only did my character surprise me, but this dark place that I delved into turned out to be a major part plot development that ultimately made the story even stronger.

When I write, I love that my characters have a mind of their own. They refuse to let me lead them - they always upset the apple cart and force me to follow them. I recently was writing a scene where my main character went to a bar and there happened to be two women there that each played an important part in the story. I told my husband that I couldn't wait to get back to writing the next day to see which one Jack was going to take home. My husband found it amusing that I didn't know, but that is why I love writing! I am constantly surprised, delighted and horrified by what my characters do and say. They are a rambunctious bunch! Sexy Shakespeare

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Herberger theater in Phoenix - I completely forgot how sexy and hot Shakespeare's writing is!

Chelsea Kurtz performing as Juliet proved to be a delightful, eye-opening experience, reminding us that Juliet was a fourteen year who was drunk on love and horny as any modern day teenager. And if you don't come away from that play with a crush on bad-boy Mercutio - Read more of this blog post »

“Enid had learned the hard way that adults were there to enforce ever-changing rules and to punish kids for breaking rules. The number one rule being that all rules were subject to change--and always in favor of the adult.”
C. Mack Lewis , Black Market Angels

“Rose jabbed her cigarette at Enid and said, "I served my time in LaLaLand and if any of those bastards tell you to talk into the mike and they pull out the yogurt cannon - just remember - you're a lady! Pull up your knickers, steal their wallet, and get the hell out of there!”
