LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A man with ties to the Rollin’ 60s Crips is accused of four murders in the Las Vegas Valley.

Homicide Lieutenant Jason Johansson with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of Michael Coleman Tuesday.

Las Vegas police accuse a man connected to the Rollin' 60s Crips of 4 Las Vegas Valley murders over the course of two years.

He says Coleman is charged with murder and is awaiting trial at the Clark County Detention Center.

LVMPD says they investigated the following deaths: Kidada Stewart, Benjamin McCarty, Marcus Larry, and William Hill.

Police say the murders spanned between 2021 and 2023.

Police say a man named Carl Chester operated a criminal enterprise with associates to defraud the government of Paycheck Protection Program loans. As the fraudulent money was dispersed, Chester would get a portion of the money.

However, Johansson said Chester would be shortened of his money. This would lead to violence or threats from Chester.

Chester would hire Coleman to “carry out” his violence. The two would buy trackers and use them on their victims to get a sense of their lives.

Police accuse Coleman of killing Kidada Stewart in Feb. 2023. Stewart was gunned down in front of a home in the southwest area of town. Coleman was arrested for this deadly shooting.

Police learned about Chester while investigating that shooting. This led to police solving three other deaths.

Back in May of 2021, McCarty was working on a car at a Pep Boys in the 3900 block of Charleston Boulevard. Police believe Coleman drove up to the Pep Boys with a driver and shot McCarty on foot. Police say this shooting was not gang-related, but an “internal strife.”

About six months later in November, Marcus Larry was shot in the 10300 block of Charleston Boulevard at a Teriyaki Madness.

Johansson said Coleman shot Larry inside the business with his 13-year-old nephew next to him. His nephew was not harmed.

Last is the murder of William Hill in Nov. of 2022. He was shot in front of his residence while working on a car.

Johansson said Coleman would approach Hill’s home in a red Hyundai. This is the same vehicle used in the murder of Stewart.

Coleman would carry out the killing and be picked up in the getaway vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Demarcus Banks, who is now dead.

Investigators believe that Hill’s death is connected to his son, who is currently in federal prison for PPP loan fraud and possession of a firearm.

Chester, who organized three of the murders, later died on behalf of Hill’s family, Johansson said.

He died in March of this year in the northwest part of the valley.

Coleman is due in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
