The trainer's absence has dominated the pre-fight build-up.

Daniel Dubois is stepping into unknown territory on Saturday night.

He will be making the first defence of his IBF heavyweight title at a packed Wembley Stadium against an opponent in Anthony Joshua who is used to these kinds of surroundings.

One question that has arisen when it comes to Dubois is whether he can cope with the magnitude of the occasion, with some pointing to head trainer Don Charles as a crucial factor in ensuring that "Dynamite" does not suffer from stage fright.

However, Charles has been a notable absence during fight week with some rumours suggesting he had been sacked by Dubois ahead of the biggest fight of his career.

During Thursday's final press conference, Dubois was asked about the situation surrounding Charles and his role in the training team.

"Listen, as long as he's in my corner on fight night, I'm alright," Dubois said.

It has since emerged that Charles is indeed still a part of the time, but is missing from fight week due to an illness and will be back in the corner when Dubois and Joshua clash live on DAZN
